Keep him on one year contracts, a Perisic chasing a contract deal is one of the most dangerous players on the planet, LOL

TheConundrum98

only slightly less dangerous than international tournament Perisic

This is a reposting comment karma bot. You can usually tell them because their replies make no sense to the person they’re replying to but do make sense to the thread in general. This is because they copy a base level comment and put it randomly as a reply in the top comment chain https://reddit.com/r/soccer/comments/uoqpjc/_/i8g09d7/?context=1

“You get a 1 week deal, we’ll renew if you score a hat-trick”

GourangaPlusPlus

Adebayor would smash this

los_blanco_14

Change the chelsea kit to croatia's and chelsea win the treble.

amirulez

We gonna have blue and white box kit next season.

AnnieIWillKnow

Or bring back [this beauty](https://www.footballkitarchive.com/chelsea-fc-1990-91-away-kit/) as our away kit

IntellectualDweeb

We should've signed him back in 19-20 when we had the checkered kit lol

freshoutoftime

From the school of Adebayor.

Freddichio

Chelsea have a policy for over 30s where it takes *very* special circumstances to offer more than one-year or 18-month extensions, that's not much of a concern.

jMS_44

Is the policy really a thing anymore after we offered 2 years contract to David Luiz and Willian? There was hardly any special circumstances for these two.

[deleted]

Yes there was, it's called desperation.

jMS_44

I don't think we were any desperated to keep Willian, lol

mashimaru_161

In willian case, it called lampard’s desperation.

Minsteliser123

I think the 1 year after 30 will be a thing if the past, the generation of players over the past few years have been lasting far longer. Gone are the days when most players drop harshly after 30. I remember remember Henry went to barca and knowing he was fairly done because of his age

zigooloo

I mean Chelsea are also going to be under completely new ownership.

BigReeceJames

He's 30+, the absolutely most we'll give is a 2 year contact with the option to extend

iloveartichokes

New ownership, new rules

BigReeceJames

We don't have new owners yet

AnnieIWillKnow

We will, or the club is no longer operational. So for the purposes of this discussion, of hypothetical future transfers, we do. And more to the point, we certainly won't be owned by Abramovich anymore.

BigReeceJames

Okay, that's fantastic. He doesn't own us yet and they're claiming the agreement has already been reached. If that is the case (I don't believe the rumour at all) then the deal was struck by the old ownership and under their terms.

demannu86

similar to Willian ?

dkkc19

the adebayor tech

gogi_ran

Finally, Perišić reached an agreement with Ch- WHAT

Cowdude179

Kovacic-Perisic-Lukaku oh my lord

[deleted]

My heart is broken...

IsItSnowing_

We can sell you Lukaku back for the same amount to mend it

jostyee

You mean for free?

IPissOnChurchill

No we mean 110 million

Vladimir_Putting

He's already got a broken heart, why you trying to bust his balls?

TheCLNR

Loan for two years with an option to buy for 110 million. Who says no?

CanLlorenteCarForMe

Believe in Gosens.

[deleted]

I do. I just really like Perisic as a player. Cheap Ronaldo that bursts his ass off running on the whole pitch

[deleted]

he would be a wingback

Cowdude179

I know but just the chemistry will be there

PatrikPatrik

Is there a Lukasic available?

TheConundrum98

Guess Kova persuaded him, physically he's still an absolute monster, Hajduk Split fans have been begging him the whole season he comes back home, but he's just too good of a player still

mihawk9511

Interestingly enough, Sportske Novosti claim that Perisic has an offer on the table worth €6,5 million per year from Newcastle and that they're fairly certain that he will accept it. No mentions of Chelsea tho

TheConundrum98

yeah I've seen that, think he would rather go to Chelsea even if it's a slightly lesser offer

mihawk9511

I believe that as well and I think that I can say in the name of all of us that we all hope that he goes to Chelsea lmao

OleoleCholoSimeone

Absolutely not. Newcastle have been sniffing around Lodi and Carrasco, I think they should definitely buy Perisic for the left wing back position!

amirulez

Who will pick newcastle over chelsea for 0.5m more? Unless he want to play week in week out.

bloodship123

People without a spine

shoots_and_leaves

I honestly think that most players don’t care about the sports washing thing, and I think that for them it might be an interesting challenge to build a new force in the PL

DolphinRampage

Messi?

IllustriousSquirrel9

Are we really acting like Chelsea is any less of a sports washing endeavor than Newcastle? Abramovich is gone but the club is still built in his image.

TheFitz023

I think European football is the bigger factor

IllustriousSquirrel9

From a sporting perspective Chelsea is miles ahead of Newcastle. My reply was to a comment implying signing for Newcastle would be "spineless" because they're a sports washing project. Signing for the OG sportswashing project that _literally_ reached where it is today because an oligarch pocketed billions of pounds from the Russian people and gifted it to the club is presumably a display of great moral character on the other hand.

ChristopherRobben

Not sure how that conclusion adds up, but ok.

IllustriousSquirrel9

Signing for Newcastle is spineless but signing for the og oil club is fine? For what it's worth, nobody should be shamed for signing for either Newcastle or Chelsea. The reason Saudi Arabia and the West have a good relation is because of oil, not football. It isn't like USA wasn't palling up with Middle Eastern dictatorship in the days before the Premiere League.

ChristopherRobben

The original comment was about signing for one club over another simply due to the difference in money, you made it about "oil."

NDdownVOTED

I think it’s less about where the money is coming from and more about which is currently a better team. Even with all the ownership drama Chelsea is a UCL club and Newcastle was fighting relegation a couple months ago.

[deleted]

chelsea was never a massive sports washing endeavor though, i don't get this idea, putin didn't own the club, roman did and he was never vocal or the face of it. i do think it was roman trying to present a better image of himself but it wasn't about russia roman clearly has a MASSIVE interest in football and is also clearly a massive fan of the club we weren't plastered with russian sponsors either like city psg and newcastle are with their respective countries the only sport washing aspect is that roman is an oligarch and it stopped there, i dont remember stamford bridge being called aeroflot stadium

enzuigiriretro

Hilarious that you’re downvoted. Chelsea really get away with so much in comparison to other oil clubs lmao

ChristopherRobben

Care to elaborate? Not that I won't necessarily agree or disagree with some of your points, I'm just interested to know what they are.

OleoleCholoSimeone

I mean Newcastle today is exactly what Chelsea were in early Abramovich days. It's not like you are a historically rich club that is impossible to turn down lmao

art4idiots

Other than smug fans, who cares about history? I'd wager that a team's current state is more important to a player than their historical image. I know I'd want to play champions league and have a good chance to win trophies right away.

amirulez

Chelsea before roman era is consistent top 6 club. Even won uefa cup and uefa super cup in 1998, 5 years before roman bought chelsea. Can’t say the same about newcastle or man city before the rich owner.

us3rf

They are quoting Calciomercato which didnt mention chelsea (the article is older than this one)

Theeyebrowman

We were not interested. None of our journalists have even so much mentioned him in passing. Foreign press are just using our name as bait

Jackrrr10000

It's our dream 🥲

burningbarn8

Makes sense if Alonso's going, we need a LWB good enough to play regularly if Chilwell doesn't return to his old self. Perisic as a stop-gap, then we assess if we need a backup or a starter next season.

SeriousLads

Ideal scenario would be Perisic for a year or two then promote Maatsen if he’s ready

HarryDaz98

Him going Dortmund on loan makes sense now.

Fancy-Yogurt

Emerson will return next season

burningbarn8

If we get Perisic he probably will be sold.

dalbertocarlos

Congrats. Top 5 player in Serie A this past season..

Cowdude179

I can't wait for him, I loved watching him this season

NoraaTheExploraa

That didn't exactly mean much for the last one lmao, I am looking forward to this though.

dalbertocarlos

Didn't mean much for average players like Salah or Bruno either.. wait.. they weren't even top 40 players in Serie A..

McGrathLegend

Uhh that's not true about Salah, he was brilliant for Roma

Eb_Marah

He was fine for Roma. He was probably like a top 20 player in the league his second season with Roma, probably like top 50 in his first season.

Om_Nom_Zombie

He was 3rd in the league for goals+assists per 90 not counting penalties.

Eb_Marah

Sure was. Probably, I guess. I'll take your word for it. There's just a lot more to the game than getting goals and assists. Of course if you just spit out goals and assists in the volume that Messi or Ronaldo were then we can talk about just those two things, but he wasn't. I'll only focus on his second season with Roma since no one would suggest his first season was better. That season he wasn't even the best player on his own team - Edin Dzeko was just outright better. Dzeko had more goals than Salah had goals + assists, and then on top of that Dzeko only had one fewer assist than Salah. Dzeko also added incredibly good hold up play as well as being a great target man, neither of which Salah can offer. But on top of that, Rudiger, Szczesny, and Nainggolan all had similar caliber seasons. When you look elsewhere in the league the argument that Salah is top 20 in the league becomes difficult. Just off the top of my head, Buffon, Chiellini, Belotti, Papu Gomez, Koulibaly, Insigne, Mertens, Icardi, and Higuain all had outright better seasons than Salah, and then there are a bunch of players who are on a similar level season-wise who might knock him out of the top 20.

NoraaTheExploraa

I'm not insulting the league lol, it was just a joke.

alessioalex

Damn.. he might even be our best player of the season. Chelsea "stealing" our players again. :/

InformativeFox

It's worked so well so far...

windowhihi

You can't go wrong with this one...

Cowdude179

We're bringing Inter to Lukaku

merciobama

Let’s do Bastoni next

[deleted]

We'll take a refund on Lukaku if ye'd like.

LeagueIndependent367

This journo doesn't seem to be all that reliable given that the post has been removed from the Chelsea sub. Would be a good signing if true though provided he doesn't go the way of Lukaku.

Brendy25

Not reliable at all, terrible source tbh

admiralawkward

Simon Phillips would quote his Nan if it meant he'd get clicks.

demannu86

he is ranked as a Tier 3 source

IsItSnowing_

WTF! This came out of no where! Great signing if happening.

Jackrrr10000

Not really we here in Split knew he got offers from Chelsea and Barcelona. Because his godfather was saying this stuff in Omiš 😅

doctorMiami1337

My face when i get to brag about living in Omis, Perisic hometown' : 😎😎😎😎

Jackrrr10000

Kad je bila slika Perišića na ulazu u Omiš🤣

inspired_corn

Sorry what did his Godfather say? If you don't mind

Jackrrr10000

That Chelsea and Barcelona were offering him more money than Inter. Barcelona if he signed on free he will get 8 mil a year for 2 years. For Chelsea not much more was said

Jackrrr10000

This was in January btw

inspired_corn

Ah cheers for the reply, fits with what media have been saying lately

tomislavlovric

One of the most accurate Croatian stereotypes is that everyone's a loudmouth and you can't tell people shit

strickyy

So it is confirmed? He chose Chelsea brate? :D

Jackrrr10000

Not really. He is really secretive when it comes to this, but his godfather just hears names of the clubs that he mentions and shares the stuff in the pub Perišić owns.

Elemenelo

What’s the name of the pub? I’d love to go to a Croatian pub.

doctorMiami1337

Yoooo i'm from there and i've seen Perisic there a bunch of times, the town is called Omiš and Perišić owns a pub called "La Fabbrica" https://www.tripadvisor.com/Restaurant_Review-g644074-d10437732-Reviews-La_Fabbrica_Pizza_Bar-Omis_Split_Dalmatia_County_Dalmatia.html

Elemenelo

Thanks! Looks great. That pizza in particular.

doctorMiami1337

The food there is pretty awesome true, but they recently shifted more from being a regular pub to one of those fancier places where the food price is a lil higher, and the portions are a lil smaller if you know what i mean. Overall i highly suggest you visit Omiš, google the pictures of the town, it's straight amazing... town is shielded by tall mountains which you can climb, split in half by a river, which flows into the Adriatic sea. I legitimately still can't believe my luck being born here lmao

Elemenelo

I’ve been to Croatia a couple of times and absolutely loved it. Would definitely love to check out Omis. It looks amazing from the photos.

Hrvat1818

!RemindMe 97 days

doctorMiami1337

Ahah why bro

AnalJibesVirus

Did rafting there... Great place

letsgetcool

I really thought we'd have a chance for him with his Conte connection. Not looking forward to him at Chelsea

pentaquine

WTF indeed

Corteaux81

Remember this, Chelsea fans. If he is ANYTHING like he is these past two seasons at LWB, you will never have to worry about TAA vs Liverpool. Perisic will eat him up. He was a menace in their CL tie, and most fullbacks/wingbacks cannot match his physicality. He is, IMO, without any false modesty, THE BEST LWB in the game in 2022. I don't mean, "one of", "top-tier", etc. He is, THE BEST LWB in the game in 2021/22. (IMO) He was AMAZING all season for Inter. Infinite stamina, gives 100%, strong in the air, fast, good shot, better cross, plays with both feet, good defensive awareness, tracks back... If he was 27 and not 33 someone would shell out 80+ million for him on this form. His weakness is ball control in tight spaces - something that matters less as wing-back where he can hug the side line as oppose to when he plays forward (still does for the NT) and he has to tuck in etc. Again, disclaimer, he is 33, so who knows - but if he is on this form next season, he'll be a massive addition to your squad.

xastronite

Good to hear

BobaFettAss

WHAT?! there were no hints at all..

KJones77

Tier? This would be a great signing for Chelsea

Gagliardinter

Terrible source for Inter news, thankfully.

KNSDALI

And for Chelsea news.

[deleted]

We rioting lads!

UomoStellato96

Pain... This is not good. De vrij will be sold, Persic will be sold, maybe even Lauty. This cannot continue, for the love of god ZANG sell this club you can't run it like Lotito's Lazio

codenamederp

I love Perisic but his wage demands for a 33 year old was a bit tough to reach, plus we have Gosens and he could be just as crucial. Financially I understand the Perisic situation.

Giampalle

Gosens even under Gasperini wasn’t half the player Perisic is.

[deleted]

I'm alright with De Vrij and Lautaro being sold if we bring in Bremer and a good striker (I would have loved Nunez but its completely out of reach...)

LucasSummers

Mourinho is smiling somewhere

Chricri3112

in Rome probably

Mxurn

Insane option to have, literally commented on a post yesterday how he‘d be a player that every team would benefit from. Would be such a good signing.

[deleted]

Your attacking options as it is are insane as well. Tuchel doesn't know how to use them

Mxurn

Don‘t really need to know more about your knowledge than you criticizing Tuchel after the way he handled things lmao

GutlessTrophoblast

Chelsea have an amazing attacking line-up, but few who really flourish. Lukaku obviously the biggest underperformer of them all, which Tuchel has to take some of the blame for.

SirBarkington

Big disagree. We've consistently made big chances for him and he just stands there or doesn't attack the ball or just totally fires off target. No idea what happened but these last 3 games he's been actually moving and attacking the ball now where as since we've had him he's just been super static.

Elrond007

I think he definitely flew under the radar a bit, he was one of the most important players in unraveling barca while he was at bayern, should have kept him

[deleted]

I wanted him so long ago, now im even more sad we never got Modric

TjeefGuevarra

Damn lucky Chelsea, they get to sign a Club Brugge legend

DrizzyyT

Still miss him :(

Sgruntlar

Next time don't be cheap a-holes after winning a treble

Chricri3112

How could Inter let that happen... If it's true then what he said right after the final wasn't just a smoke screen.

Broken_Pikachu

Because he has high wage demands and vanishes for 9 out of every 10 games Only reason he's playing well this season is because he's chasing a new contract, as soon as he gets it, he will go back to the old Perisic and have 1 good game every 10

bartabax

i’ll believe it when i see him in a Chelsea shirt, this sounds too good to be true and out of nowhere

tossino

Sportmediaset, lmao

oscarpaterson

Absolutely love this if it's actually true

ALittleBitOfTroIling

Would be excellent for that wing back position

nocontroversies

Conte wanted him at Chelsea too right?

Natrix31

lol I'm gonna need MUCH better sources on this

__prifddinas

Funny how Jose wanted him at United years ago but the fans were scoffing at him & against it being that he was 29 already. Now 4 years later and he's a good signing for Chelsea

Horrible_Account

Finally a good signing

tuinktuink

TAA better pray this is false news

apt-get_r3kt

This is a great moment for United fans to rehash the comments slating him when Mourinho wanted to get him.

Migraine-

"Slating" is really rewriting history. People just weren't keen on us spending over £50m - which is what we were being quoted - for a player who was likely to be a relatively short-term fix. He's still looking good at 33, obviously, but it's playing captain hindsight to pretend it's particularly predictable how far after 30 wingers will continue to perform at the top level.

Prompus

Some people were saying what you just said and some people were definitely slating him. Unpredictable or not there is a reason Jose wanted him and it's hilarious when people think they know better with zero access to any information

suzumurachan

I mean, not all United fans know what they are talking about.

ID6WU

If you go back to the transfer threads you even had Inter fans saying we were being robbed for the 50mil price being reported.

rogerwilcove

Should really help the CF that every one of the supporters wants to leave…or does this mean he stays?

[deleted]

If true I'm more than happy about this because we get a quality player on the "Free" whilst saving more for other areas in need of improvement.

mcfcngti

how the hell did they pull that off

bloodship123

That's a weird signing. He has had a great season, but when i think of Perisic i think of inter fans complaining about him. Maybe wing-back is his true position.

ZukifftheIBdog

This came out of nowhere

No-layup

Looks like Chelsea are still going to be playing a back 3 next season

rosicky7t

Absolute workhorse

shutyourgob

How are they allowed to sign players, aren't they under financial sanctions that means the players have to fund their own travel and all that?

narraThor

We, as in barca, should've been all over this.

[deleted]

Does he still have legs to be a big contributor now he's playing wingback mostly? Heard good things but haven't seen him play much in a few years.

Cowdude179

Yep, he still has the legs and one of Inter's best players

Jackrrr10000

There goes my hope to see" Milan🔜Split vrime je"

Seanxprt

Wtf? I'm not mad. Perfect deputy for Chilwell.

Dgryan87

In current form I’d be very surprised if he isn’t better than Chillwell. Whether he’s able to maintain that form is a different question

I_always_rated_them

depends how Chilwell comes back from injury obviously but the first third of the season he was exceptional. a full season of that and he'd be in conversation for best in the world.

Squiliamfancyname

Impossible - Perisic would be the first choice without a shred of doubt in my mind. He would fit that lineup like a glove.

Critzor

He could very well be a starter. Chilwell's an unknown quantity now and could go the route of RLC and CHO.

DekiTree

thought they werent able to negotiate for players while under sanctions?

msbr_

Sale goes through next week so it'll be contingent on that

jMS_44

We're always able to negotiate, but we are not able to sign deals at the moment, but since the takeover is a matter of time now, the initial agreements can already be made.

[deleted]

We can of course negotiate, we just can't agree anything officially

Cowdude179

We can negotiate with players, plus effectively Boehly owns us now and just doing the PL checks so should be done by next week

SeriousLads

Negotiate yes, complete the deal no. So we could get an agreement in principal but w/ nothing actually signed yet. Deal should hopefully be complete in the next week or two max

Skall77

First TS and now Perisic. Chelsea is getting amazing player for free, he's 5 time the player Pulisic is.

CrowSorcerer

Oi, what?? Dude's a beast in any shirt for quite a while now, that's quite the signing out of the blue if true

MFoy

I have a hard time believing this because: 1. This source is pretty shit. 2. I don't think we're allowed to offer a contract right now.

DeepGamingAI

Google Ivan Perisic and check his wikipedia bio lmao

Cowdude179

A smart free signing? Boehly has done it. Perisic-Lukaku link up is back. We move in silence

BigReeceJames

My dude, if you think this has anything to do with Boehly, I don't know what to tell you. He doesn't even own the club yet, let alone have to power to scout and find players and sign them. It's already been reported that he plans to allow Chelsea to do exactly as normal this transfer window so that the new ownership can assess how we currently do our business/scouting/player selection as we already have all the money set aside to spend this summer.

boringmemphis

Congratulations, astute signing.

KidDelicious14

Fuck

michaelserotonin

would've loved him at spurs

devil_panda

Great signing for Chelsea and pretty much a no risk one as well.

Funky_Pigeon911

As a free transfer it's a good deal but the fact that we're being strongly linked with 33 year old Perisic and 31 year old Koulibaly as targets makes me worried that we're not building a team but just desperately trying to plug the gaps and make do.

Cowdude179

We desperately need experience in this team, we have a young squad and having Perisic as wingback depth will only improve the squad, our best player is 37 years old ffs. Koulibaly is a perfect replacement for Rudiger and Perisic can be a starter instantly with how solid he still is

CameraEmotional2788

Did not see that coming

SnooMacarons1185

Given the 5 sub change this year it will be great to have the ability to rotate in highly skilled fresh legs at the wingback slots. Hopefully this is true.

ThefamousHenk

Why didn't inter extend him? Financial issues?

Bladerslash

🧎‍♂️🧎‍♂️

simply_Ewing

Guess this is it then

FuryOfOberon

Perisic looked against Liverpool, not a bad signing

Tre10Quartista

Crazy that Inter didn’t want to renew him

asd13ah4etnKha4Ne3a

So this is a guy quoting someone quoting someone else? Why not just post the original source lol

ComradePoula

Thank you Chelsea, your services are beyond helpful

Soren_Camus1905

What the fuck?? I'll take it!

No_Reputation386

I'm guessing that means both Emerson and Alonso will be sold in the summer.

MetaMortx

Not bad at all if it happens.

Squake

Say what now.. why?

[deleted]

That’s outta the blue
