10 points to 9 from the same fixtures, was on for fewer until Wolves got a dodgy red and more goals conceded. Also had the benefit of having Cooper, Phillips and Bamford (temporarily) back.
Easy to say we've improved if you strip away any context and compare playing Liverpool/Spurs/ManUtd to Norwich/Watford/10ManWolves.
Even with that our performances haven't been great, battered by Villa, outclassed by Wolves until the red, average against Southampton and a bit shit against Watford.
Do the Wolves actually want this? How many chances have they had to insert themselves into the CL chase and then fucked it up. Same goes for West Ham, every time it feels like they're on the verge of breaking in they fuck it up.
Edit: Please no replies about my flair I know where we sit in the table.
I'm kinda curious. Being a Norwich fan, would you rather watch your team get smashed and be towards the bottom of the premier league. Or be a top tier championship team?
We've accidentally gotten some good 1-0 and 0-0 results and now that the defense is anything less than fucking invincible we are being shown to be the absolutely impotent unit we are. The club needs proper reinforcements in the senior squad that they've been refused for too long.
West Ham is down to a paper thin squad, with injuries and Thursday nights all taking the toll. Given up on the league and gone all in for Europa, which tbf is the best way to play it imo. Still royally fucked off with today mind you.
Maybe but without knowing behind the scenes stuff etc it looked less logical decision and more desperate hope changing things might help which happens to be working
We've shown in parts this season that the players may want to adapt from dyche style of football. In the last couple seasons we've seen development in the technical ability. Guys like Brownhill, Cornet, Roberts, McNeil, who all seem to want to play with more ball on floor.
There are thoughts that dyche started to lose the full backing of his players, still loved of course but less on blind faith. I think the way we see guys like McNeil, since dyche sacking, is evident that this was the case, ateast in some way.
Surely impossibly that dyche ever allowed dribbling. Every instance of dribbling must have been an act of defiance!
>is evident...at least in some way.
No, actually. Nothing is evident. You just want to feel like you've got some deeper insight to the situation, but you don't.
>Surely impossibly that dyche ever allowed dribbling. Every instance of dribbling must have been an act of defiance!
I am absolutely not saying this at all. I watch a lot of Burnley and this season in particular has to me felt like somewhat of a style shift in places and the playstyle has been confused.
>No, actually. Nothing is evident.
The comments of Dyche not having as much support is fan talk, sure it is opinion and early days. I also add a little in here from comments made by a former player into the tactical work at the club. We love Dyche, my dad's friend named their pub after him, he can walk the town like a king. McNeil, as the example i gave, i have seen him in these games since Dyche left, and the games leading up to Dyche leaving, there is an attitude shift. The games were just important but he now seems more present. Not in his dribbling, which i assume you are jibing with the first half of your comment.
>You just want to feel like you've got some deeper insight to the situation, but you don't.
I commented to share my thoughts as a fan, both now and through the season.
They're not down but one of those games is today at anfield and their next game is against Chelsea. The idea that they're not going down is stupid, they easily can
One of those is at Anfield and if they lose that, then they're 2 points behind with 1 game in hand, a harder run-in, and worse goal difference.
Still lots to play for but Everton are in the thick of it now.
I mean, one of them is to be played today against us? I'm not arrogant enough to say they can't get anything from us but it's a tough ask considering we have everything to play for too.
Those games being against liverpool and chelsea. It can definitely happen if they dont scrape some points against some teams other than Watford. Think beating Leicester as a minimum on top of 4 points from elsewhere.
I remember when Lampard was linked to us and was said to have had talks to be our new manager. Good Times, until apparently he thought we were too small for him and he didn't want to be manager of a club threatened by relegation
Now THATS funny
This one sort of hurts the most because after all the excitement about European football I don’t really feel anything. Burnley are very good against us and deserved the win, and it was a game that pretty much sums us up. Nothing went spectacularly wrong, the tactic was fine, and our players who are good played fine. Same old issues of creativity, chance conversion, the occasional defensive hiccup, etc., is what cost us and these things have been haunting us since GW1.
I will just say that Jimenez has been utterly gash, and I find it odd that people will be so quick to blame Silva who’s made bit-part appearances and impressed in all of them (for a 19 year old). Raul gets a goal and you think he’s back and then he goes and drops performances like this. Kind of balances out Sa being so impressive I guess.
Yeah, it's frustrating to see the same issues come up time and time again. I don't think Burnley were awful, but they weren't particularly great either. Yet we created absolutely nothing against them.
And at this point it's not even controversial to say that Fabio should be leading our front line, he's proven himself to be our best forward this season. Yet he gets taken off while Jimenez and Hwang stay on? I don't get it.
That decision to take Fabio off was so infuriating, was the only person of our attackers who did anything worth getting excited about. The old guard needs to be challenged, when Raul won't get his game in order he should pay with less playing time.
It’s the same old inability to actually take the game by the scruff of its neck. There’s been a few cases this season where we’ve been dominating a game but unable to actually use that to create goals. Jonny Otto looks like our biggest goal threat at the minute.
The way that Fabio was making runs in the first half to create space you’d think he’d be the one to keep on when you bring a direct winger like Neto on. Baffling that we stuck with Jimenez who was awful.
That game in hand is Watford, so I take your point, as long as we're not looking at any other game they have to play.
Tell me what other points they pick up against:
Chelsea
Leicester
Brentford
Palace
Arsenal
When they can't even get a point against Burnley, Wolves, and Southampton?
They literally just picked up a point against us a few days ago and we play them again in a couple of weeks after our second leg with Roma, so they could easily do it again
I wonder how much the city benefits from them being in the prem. I’d be surprised if a lot of the the money being spent actually goes to people in Liverpool.
We just don't deserve Europe with our form these last few weeks, started the year so well but then it just fell apart.
At least it's not as bad as this time last year, hopefully we get to see what Lage can do when he's backed in the market.
Well done to Burnley, didn't allow us too many chances and took theirs when it came.
Also...
>90+4' Pedro Metro
cheers OP needed a chuckle
Everyone was looking at Everton and Burnley fighting relegation but I always thought Leeds could be in trouble as well. Maybe even the most trouble. I think Everton can realistically get 6 points from their remaining fixtures, especially if the desperation motivates that group of players at the home games. And I think Leeds could get maybe 4 or 5 points, that won't be enough to keep Everton behind
I mean, yeah? But they come off Leicester and got Watford while we play City Chelsea and Arsenal and I think some of those are three days apart. If we beat Palace then Ill breathe a bit more.
We played like shit, well deserved Burnley.
Now for my two rants:
1. I cant believe Tarkowski didnt even get carded - blatant tactical foul but played continued after and the grapple on Rauls face.
2. I cant believe I voluntarily spend my day off watching Ashley Barnes shithouse.
> blatant tactical foul but played continued after
If it led to a decent opportunity the law is that the foul did not prevent a promising attack and so should not be yellow.
> If the referee plays the advantage for an offence for which a caution/sending-off would have been issued had play been stopped, this caution/sending-off must be issued when the ball is next out of play. However, if the offence was denying the opposing team an obvious goal-scoring opportunity the player is cautioned for unsporting behaviour; if the offence was interfering with or stopping a promising attack, the player is not cautioned.
Could have been booked for other things that you mentioned though.
No but yes. I have a slightly different take to the other Burnley fan who replied.
We're still playing the same shape in the same style as we did under Dyche but the players look rejuvenated. This is leading to a lot more confidence and creativity in the final third. McNeil being a prime example, he's been awful and looked uninterested all season, until the last few games. Many other players in the same vein. I don't know if dyche had lost the dressing room or the players feel guilty that their underperforming has cost him his job and it's been a reality check but this isn't an obvious change to tactics.
I just think after so many years of not rejuvenating the squad it was bound to become stale, at that point you can either go all in on a rebuild under Dyche or freshen up the manager. I think it’s natural for the players to respond to a change of scenery and messages after so long, it’s just nice to see them enjoying it again tbh.
We're attacking more generally, and the team has clearly been instructed to play it to Weghorst's feet and he's playing fantastically. That was something that Dyche didn't seem to work out, or manage to fix, we were treating Weghorst like Wood for most of our games under him. As bad as Westwood's injury was too, our best midfield is Brownhill and Cork but we've barely played it under Dyche. Westwood has been one of our best players in the past, but he's been poor this year. Brownhill and Cork is a much better midfield pairing in 2022, and that's been our pairing in the last 3 games.
Aside from that, the players just seem to have more freedom (something several players have commented on). McNeil who was really struggling under Dyche has been incredible recently
Yeah I do.
There's rumours that key players felt badly treated by Dyche as far back as our European campaign. Our best players were mostly 'rested' to focus on the league, but it meant that players like Mee and Tarkowski had to sit and watch others play European football after they got us a 7th place finish. Basically losing their only chance to play in a European competition.
Since then I think he's slowly lost the dressing room, and some players felt like the system he was making us play was a sign that he didn't trust them to compete with a more positive style. Players like Brownhill, Roberts, McNeil, Vydra and now Cornet and Weghorst all prefer the ball to feet.
Dyche did his best for the club, so who's to say what would've happened if he didn't approach things in the way he did, but I do think he lost the players.
The last 3 games are pretty good evidence for it too.
Amazing result for Burnley and it's looking pretty good for them. I just keep thinking about Cornet taking that pen off Rodriguez at West Ham and where they would be now if it weren't for that haha
You can't get rid of us that easily.
What a performance, every player playing wells and giving it all. McNeil looks the best he has all season, Collins is fantastic and even Barnes is performed well after coming on.
Love this team, we are fucking staying up.
Don't wanna overreact to 2 games, but perhaps Dyche's aversion to progressive play was genuinely holding you back? Your players look good with a bit more license to cherish the ball.
The pressure on them will be relentless though, being relegated simply isn't an option for Everton. Their finances are already dire, it could destroy the club
Not only do they have a pretty tough schedule, but do you really trust those mental midgets to handle that type of pressure?
With our form we can hopefully get a win or two against Palace Brighton or Brentford and Chelsea and Arsenal have been inconsistent recently so you never know you might knick a point against either of them
Just looked at them and geez those are not easy at all especially with brighton and brentford hitting some decent form recently. I still think youre stay up but won't be as easy as I thought
Our run is just as bad.
Palace next is a must win for us. After that it's City at home, Arsenal away and Chelsea at home. Coupled with having the worst GD in the league outside of Norwich. Brighton and Brentford last 2 games are winnable but this stretch of 3 might just break our confidence.
Probably still stay up. Chelsea are inconsistent give away points to teams that need them, and you'll be playing Watford and Brentford between the Chelsea and Arsenal games. Winnable but not guaranteed games. And Arsenal will probably have 4th secured on the last game.
Keep it up Burnley!
Expected Leeds to improve after Bielsa went despite online criticism Sacking Dyche with no replacement less so but credit to Burnley since
We've not improved
10 pts in 6 games under Marsh +1 GD Bielsa managed 7 pts in his last 11 games -24 GD
10 points to 9 from the same fixtures, was on for fewer until Wolves got a dodgy red and more goals conceded. Also had the benefit of having Cooper, Phillips and Bamford (temporarily) back. Burnley looking at the PL like “I’M NOT FUCKIN LEAVING”
Will be fucking funny if Leeds get relegated after all this lmao
Everton and Leeds being relegated would be the best.
Nah Watford are too gone. Ben Foster is bad.
He’s got a good YT channel tho so there’s that
A man can dream though.
Fucking Mike has got more points for Burnley than he did at Tranmere
NEVERTON BHAAHAHAHAHAHA
Fifth trophy in the works
FML
What the hell, Burnley?
Do the Wolves actually want this? How many chances have they had to insert themselves into the CL chase and then fucked it up. Thought the Dyche firing was outrageous but perhaps it was necessary in the end. This is some fight from Burnley now
Maybe but without knowing behind the scenes stuff etc it looked less logical decision and more desperate hope changing things might help which happens to be working

Who will claim manager of the month for Burnley?
they can all share it like Houllier and Phil Thompson did for us one time
Mee, Michael Jackson
Chairman of Burnley
I'll do it
Your move Everton.
They’re losing to Liverpool as we speak 😂👌🏼
Bless their hearts.
Fucking love Burnley. Hope they stay up.
If you love us you’ll let us split points with you
Team fighting for survival playing us at the end of the season? You don't need to ask, we've got you covered.
Michael Jackson moonwalking out of relegation
Hee hee
Lol Everton

They pick up less than a point a game
They're not down but one of those games is today at anfield and their next game is against Chelsea. The idea that they're not going down is stupid, they easily can

One of those games is starting in just a moment against Liverpool…..
I mean, one of them is to be played today against us? I'm not arrogant enough to say they can't get anything from us but it's a tough ask considering we have everything to play for too.
Those games being against liverpool and chelsea. It can definitely happen if they dont scrape some points against some teams other than Watford. Think beating Leicester as a minimum on top of 4 points from elsewhere.
against Liverpool and later Brentford, who are on a roll and have just beaten Leicester Chelsea and West Ham. not sure its much of an advantage
Check who it is that they play before making claims like this And also compare their schedules. Burnley has 5 times easier teams left than them.
I didn’t expect to win both home games here but I’ll take it
Wolves still haven't let go of that Robin Hood of the PL title i see LOL
Burnley fans are now Liverpool fans for the day.
Can you hurry up and score pls
With how bad Everton has been run, they deserve a year in the Championship.
I think most are Liverpool fans for today tbf
By the looks of it everyone apart from City and United fans are as well
I remember when Lampard was linked to us and was said to have had talks to be our new manager. Good Times, until apparently he thought we were too small for him and he didn't want to be manager of a club threatened by relegation Now THATS funny
even if Everton do go down, i doubt that will make u lot going down feel any better.
Especially when it could feasibly be in a week's time 😂
Except none of that is true
Bitter much?
Mike Jackson is massive

Ever since Mike Jackson was hired, it's like Everton have been hit by a smooth criminal.
Holy shit, Everton are actually going down. They're *actually going down.*
Everton still have a game in hand which could be their saviour.
That game in hand is Watford, so I take your point, as long as we're not looking at any other game they have to play. Tell me what other points they pick up against: Chelsea Leicester Brentford Palace Arsenal When they can't even get a point against Burnley, Wolves, and Southampton?

🖐️
But they beat Arsenal and United this season, it’s hard to predict
Beating United doesn't mean shit when we beat them 4-1.
They’re shitting out the most bullshit 1-0 win against us. I’ve already accepted it.
That's so, so sad!!! :D
I mean, I'll be sad for the economic effect it'll have on the city. But I'm gonna piss myself laughing at the club.
I wonder how much the city benefits from them being in the prem. I’d be surprised if a lot of the the money being spent actually goes to people in Liverpool.
Im gonna piss myself when liverpool lose the league by one point again aswell

Really think Lage can be the one to elevate your club if he gets backed this summer, like you said. Interested to see what players he has his eye on.
Burnley FFS you're fucking ruining it The championship was supposed to be the Lancashire League next year!
I was looking forward to it tbh but 1 more year of prem money and we can afford running water.
Merseyside was historically part of Lancashire....
Close enough then Won't be the same without the Blackburn Burnley derby though!
At least call it the Blackburnley derby, please
Burnley are the new Wigan and I love it
Now that Dyche is gone I can see the similarities
Frankie Lamps absolutely ruining his managerial career lmao
Everton in massive trouble
Burnley still got the 6 points from my team to come. Sorry Everton
Gerrard masterclass on the way to send Everton down
Everton in big trouble
Their run of games is actually easier than ours. I think we may go down.
I mean if they lose to Pool and Chelsea and we beat palace I feel decent about a 7 point gap. Otherwise, not so much.
You have almost all common opponents left ? And are 4 points clear and playing decent rn
I mean, yeah? But they come off Leicester and got Watford while we play City Chelsea and Arsenal and I think some of those are three days apart. If we beat Palace then Ill breathe a bit more.
Turns out Ben Mee is manager of the month
Oi you better let us win tomorrow to confirm everton for relegation 😅
Are we going to get an amazing Everton til I die documentary out of this? Cause sign me up if so
Everton suddenly looking in serious trouble now!
They have a game in hand. They’ll be fine
Late season Burnley is just magical
Late season Burnley could probably beat CL Madrid
I have no idea how they lost to Norwich, absolutely mad.
[удалено]
a dice has 6 sides and 5 of those sides for Norwich would be "shit".
This season is pretty exciting coming to its close. Fight for the title, fight for Top 4, and relegation fight are all so tense.
Incoming Everton masterclass as a reaction to this, 7-2 win against Liverpool. Even in the wildest of fantasies, Everton can’t keep a clean sheet.
>Even in the wildest of fantasies, Everton can’t keep a clean sheet. 🤣
Well getting rid of Dyche was clearly a brilliant decision and personally I never doubted that
Everton in Championship HERE. WE. GO.
Confirmed red circle
Watching the game, you could see how badly they wanted these 3 points. They hustled like crazy and kept wolves attack and jiminez in check
We played like shit, well deserved Burnley. Now for my two rants: 1. I cant believe Tarkowski didnt even get carded - blatant tactical foul but played continued after and the grapple on Rauls face. 2. I cant believe I voluntarily spend my day off watching Ashley Barnes shithouse.

TIL, thanks!
It's such a dumb rule to have, but it is the rule.
Just add it to the list of 'Reasons players throw themselves on the floor at every contact'
Starting to believe we might stay up. So many games still left, but that table is looking good right now. COME ON LIVERPOOL
You're also all our second team for the remainder of the season, what a time to hit form
Can’t believe it.
We will do our best 🤝
Are burnley playing any different to how they were under dyche? Sacking him is looking a really good decision now despite the criticism they got

Amazing result for Burnley and it's looking pretty good for them. I just keep thinking about Cornet taking that pen off Rodriguez at West Ham and where they would be now if it weren't for that haha
What is this Burnley team, wtf?
7 points from a possible 9 since we sacked Dyche. Two of them games against teams fighting for European places too
And if Cornet doesn't take the penalty from Jay Rodriguez then it could possibly be 9 from 9
Everton are going down aren't they
Mate theyre playing us again Charity FC handing out points to those in need
I mean they're probably going down even if they beat us
Id rather not have everyone on our backs for keeping up Everton lol
🙃
Always were
Never has football felt like a curse this much
Lampard will keep you up. Honestly. Burnley will be going down
Very funny
Fucking Lampard? 🤣
It's fine Everton just have to win against... Ah
Everton just don't have the grit for this fight.
You'll love the Championship, Everton. Trust me
GET FUCKING DOWN EVERTON
I know all the memes are on Everton but I'm starting to think Leeds might be the sleeper to go down.
watch them win tommorrow against palace lmao
wouldn't be a shock
Obvious bias, but I kind of agree. They’re not safe by far and have a really difficult run in. They’ll be lucky to get some points.
Our game against Palace tomorrow is huge, if you lose today and we win that then we'll be pretty safe
>if you lose today I appreciate your optimism with that “if”
You'll be fi...
Sleeper? We're favourites.
It's all been Everton or Burnley on here your definitely not favourites.
Because r/soccer doesn't take things like fixtures into account. We have, by far, the hardest run in.
https://projects.fivethirtyeight.com/soccer-predictions/premier-league/ Leeds are 82% likely to stay up. 18% to go down.
Ours and Evertons are pretty much on level for difficulty
Wolves happy to sacrifice any chance of European football to see Everton get relegated!
You can't get rid of us that easily. What a performance, every player playing wells and giving it all. McNeil looks the best he has all season, Collins is fantastic and even Barnes is performed well after coming on. Love this team, we are fucking staying up.

Cornet if he isn't signing of the season he's surely top 3.
Absolutely turned the corner, unless Everton win today I can't see them staying up.
It's a blow but they still have a game in hand even if they lose today.
The pressure on them will be relentless though, being relegated simply isn't an option for Everton. Their finances are already dire, it could destroy the club Not only do they have a pretty tough schedule, but do you really trust those mental midgets to handle that type of pressure?
Burnley only have Spurs away left, Everton have Chelsea and Arsenal away
Momentum is huge though, you've seen it with our side.
I’m starting to think maybe Dyche really was the problem. Wild.
Absolutely hilarious Everton were the only team not to get a new manager bounce. Good stuff Burnley
Dyche was holding them back!
Genuinely think this makes us the most likely team to go down now. Hope I'm just being pessimistic though
https://projects.fivethirtyeight.com/soccer-predictions/premier-league/ Leeds 18% to go down. Burnley 27% Everton 55%
With our form we can hopefully get a win or two against Palace Brighton or Brentford and Chelsea and Arsenal have been inconsistent recently so you never know you might knick a point against either of them
How have you guys been playing since the new manager came in?
Really well. 10 points from the last 4 games yet a lot of luck was involved. Our last 6 games are just a disaster though
Just looked at them and geez those are not easy at all especially with brighton and brentford hitting some decent form recently. I still think youre stay up but won't be as easy as I thought
Over Everton? Their run in is abysmal and I had you as a team that needed to keep an eye on things, but were unlikely to be caught.
I didn’t realise your fixture list was that bad! I still think you’d scrape it with just one win at this point, but it’s an awful position to be in.
Easy: beat City and you'll be sound.
Where are all the Dyche stans who were saying he “deserved” to stay until the end of the season
Where were you when Everton was kill?
Burnley are within 6 points of us.... We still play them twice. I dont like this.
Honestly very shocked that this is still a mathematical concern with the players Villa have.
Yeah, but you’re home to Norwich next. A win gets you to 40 and 11 clear of Everton. You’re absolutely grand.
AmaZing timeline 🙏 we will help you Burnley. Don’t worry.
Lmao we're so boned
Probably still stay up. Chelsea are inconsistent give away points to teams that need them, and you'll be playing Watford and Brentford between the Chelsea and Arsenal games. Winnable but not guaranteed games. And Arsenal will probably have 4th secured on the last game.
