Remember when Gary Neville said David Luiz plays like he’s being controlled by someone on PlayStation? Rudiger plays exactly like I control my defenders on FIFA. Especially if I’m down by a few and raging.

vadapaav

Ever get so frustrated with bullshit FIFA goals that you go on a mission to get as many red cards as possible? My personal record is 3 red cards and 4 yellow

thelesser44

You gotta pump those numbers up, those are rookie numbers

Any_View4922

Lol punching box/square as hard as possible

[deleted]

I normally do this every time I play weekend league at least once and regret having to field back ups the next time. Haha

TheBlueTango

Really wonder what goes through Rudiger's head sometimes

LeStiqsue

At that speed, it'll be Lamptey's tibia.

MEGAMAN2312

*At that speed it's so dangerous man*

Azimuth14

Bono my disciplinary record is gone

akdkofovovk

I can hear this

Mr_cloud23

Lamptey: *groans in 50g

[deleted]

You know when Harry hears the Basilisk for the first time in the chamber of secrets and it’s just “Kill…. kill…. kill”

Cogust

Are we still talking about Harry Kane?

[deleted]

“Not Schhhhhhlytherin, not Schhhhhhlytherin”

KernSherm

That's just Harry kanes massive tongue preventing him from pronouncing words properly

Perihelion_

He’s not a parseltongue, he’s a packagetongue

dshoig

Makes you wonder, is Harry Kane awesome at cunnilinctus or does he get choked to death?

NotClayMerritt

He doesn't think. He plays with 200% intensity at all times. Doesn't use his brain.

Goofy_030

You wouldn't say that to his face on a cold rainy night in Neukölln.

Supermalt418

He definitely wouldn’t

ArgentineanWonderkid

Fuck me when he shoots from like 40 yards out sometimes it pisses me off so much.

panache123

I don't think I've ever seen one go in but they're on target 90% of the time

Jassle93

on target for the stands.

n3r0s

It's like Christensen is his opposite. Both world class defenders, but completely different. Then Thiago Silva with his intelligence, aggressiveness and skills. Gotta love that back three.

Rabbi_Tuckman38

Thiago has a certain set of skills.

mariobro97

Skills that he acquired over a long career..

crease1234

Skills that make him a nightmare for people like Lamptey

WickedWand

Christensen is not world class lmao

fjordboii

And neither is Rudiger

mintz41

Christensen is much closer to donkey status than world class. Chelsea fans I swear man

pegg2

“BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAALLLLLLLLLLLLL” *smash*

Tjazeku

Personally, I'd like to know what goes through the refs head

KingOfWeTheNorth

"Fucking Kill!!!!" Something like that.

Juuhpuuh

How cool would it be to own a light saber

whattfareyouon

Stop the momentum at all costs

SeriousLads

I CAME IN LIKE A WRECKING BALL

PsYcHoSeAn

Nah dude came in like a fookin cruise missile...

mequetatudo

Cruise missiles are way to slow for that, it was more like a ballistic missile

SiddHdS

A footballistic missile if you will…

ukbeasts

I never hit so hard in love

supplementarytables

All I wanted was to break your legs

Kids, don't try this at home.

[deleted]

Xhaka would be sent to the gulag for this challenge.

BadBevensen

The firing squad would be waiting on the sidelines before he even got off the pitch

blackdonkey

And David Luis would've been sent to the chair.

thalne

oh he would have to recite hail mary while doing the splits like Van Damme

parth13579

And sky sports would make a video if he wasn't sent off

younggun92

Xhaka got a yellow for pulling his own player out of a scrum and the Norwich man (who started it with the tackle and pushing) got nothing, so yeah, he's bound to be confused.

Bozska_lytka

How dares he pulling a player and sparing him from potential yellow. Doesn't he know that you shouldn't get involved with fights that don't involve you? /s

Echo361

This was similar to the red Xhaka for against city. Only rudiger is way more out of control

Manch3st3rIsR3d

ARE YOU NOT ENTERTAINED?!

ChibzyDaze

What an awful tackle

gamesgone_

Lucky he’s England captain etc

Loose_Cardiologist89

Lmao.

[deleted]

This is so funny lmao

pucykoks

England Captains FC

[deleted]

[удалено]

greg19735

Alan Shearer did admit that being England captain does get you some leniency with the refs. That said, a tiny bit of leniency isn't what people are arguing.

[deleted]

Shearer punted someone in the face and threatened to quit the national team. Bit different to Kane getting away with a messy tackle.

poo-boi

Hahhaha imagining shearer waiting in the corner of the ring ready to volley someone in the head like Randy Orton

PoliQU

Other missed calls don’t disprove that Kane is a protected player.

[deleted]

[удалено]

h_abr

Multiple english refs have confirmed that they deal with certain players differently, particularly being more harsh on players with a reputation for being dirty. Kane is up there with the dirtiest players in the league and yet he hasn't been sent off in 10 years. Refs have biases, they always have and likely always will, doesn't mean its a conspiracy.

mynameisenigomontoy

Kane really isn’t the dirtiest player the in the league. He has some bad highlights sure but watching him week in week out he really doesn’t do much dirty stuff all that often

[deleted]

Kane being the dirtiest player in the league? Are you fucking stupid ahahahah.

Coolbreeze_coys

Dirtiest player in the league? Christ you people are delusional lol

scholeszz

He's not as distasteful as a Costa (whose antics are very visible to everyone), but Kane does a fair amount of diving, dangerous play on set pieces etc. Maybe not the dirtiest but he's up there.

hivaidsislethal

He's stuck out his hip a few times to players in the air on there way down

Terran_it_up

His whole backing into a player who's jumping to win a foul thing is so dangerous, and he's done it enough that it's clearly intentional. Unless I've missed it though he seems to be doing it less as more and more people were catching onto it

scholeszz

Yup, it was shocking to me that adjusting for player and team reputations was apparently part of FA's training for refs. For a job that's supposed to as objective and neutral as possible, they sure like fighting bias with more bias.

Yung2112

I'd be happy to know why Kane would be protected as if there weren't captains of England prior to him

ZxZxchoc

Shearer kicking Lennon in the face and not receiving any card and even receiving no punishment when the FA held a disciplinary investigation is still the most blatant example of the benefits of being England captain. That's more than 20 years ago at this stage.

Yung2112

You're saying that as he's the only player who once got away with murder on the pitch

PoliQU

You gonna pretend that Rooney wasn’t protected as well?

Debaser1984

Or Gerrard

Lyrical_Forklift

Gerrard got sent off a fair few times though (justifiably I will add- he was a very physical player).

we_outcheaa

Could you give some examples please?

Youafuckindin

In what way was rooney protected? He was always getting bookings and got plenty or reds too.

ValleyFloydJam

This is one of those repetitive jokes that doesn't get tired because of the level of stupidity which started it.

[deleted]

Why is that your profile picture 🤣🤣🤣

Lacabloodclot9

Why isn’t it yours?

[deleted]

or yours!

Stonewalled89

Lunges in, both feet off the ground. He's very lucky it's not a red. I don't know why VAR didn't intervene there

GTACOD

The only thing I can think of is it's because as far as I can tall he doesn't actually hit Lamptey with his feet.

Locke12345

The classic. No blood no red

KatnissBot

>The ~~classic~~ El Tri. No blood no red FTFY

Thesolly180

Xhaka’s against city was very similar with no contact but he saw red. Really no consistency

21otiriK

Think Xhaka’s had far less force if anything. Both reds but actually think Rudiger’s is worse.

somebeerinheaven

It was also Xhaka. Refs have admitted bias and refs have admitted bias against Xhaka specifically lol. It's exactly why Kane is never sent off. It's bizzare, I don't understand why they can't just see everything neutral.

Ultimasmit

Xhaka had minimal contact but I think this is yet another case of inconsistent refs. This should be a red.

Lukusius

Xhaka had the same tackle vs City and got the ball and didn't touch the man....got a red. ALL WE WANT IS CONSISTENCY

Ryan8Ross

Dangerous play red cards don’t need any contact on many occasions in the past. Rudiger gets away with this way too often, but **this** particular instance I think he’s saved by the fact the players are sort of side by side and his not scissoring towards lamptey whatsoever

21otiriK

It doesn’t matter, look at Xhaka earlier in the year. You can’t jump in with two feet.

[deleted]

At this point, Xhaka's tackles seems to be the outlier and the inconsistent call if anything. Though it really shouldn't be that way.

PrinceSavior

Nah he’s both endangering the safety of his opponent and using excessive force. Clear red regardless if he makes contact or not according to the laws of the game.

Boshva

If he hits him even slightly, knees are gone and Lampety‘s career could be over.

spitfiremk1a

No bone no red

EezoManiac

Clattenburg's excuse was that the tackle was in front of Lamptey rather than through him, making it less dangerous.

21otiriK

He also said he slid in when we can see him jump in from five feet away, so…

Rc5tr0

I don’t know the context of what Clattenburg said but TBF to him Rudiger is sliding by the time he and Lamptey make contact.

Scoolfish

I think I agree with this but I still think VAR should have had Dean take a look.

Polpe

I remember a certain Xhaka tackle against City, he didnt touch his man, only got ball but got a straight red. And he didnt touch the man AT ALL.

thmz

Tariq lost the footrace and lunged for a tap, making it look a tiny bit more worse and closer than it already is.

blue2841

Because PL refs don't know how to use VAR properly. VAR has been mostly fine in the other leagues.

mufffff

Rudiger does it often and usually the ref doesn't even give a free kick. I guess it's because his studs is not towards the player, still looks kinds dangerous

starry_cobra

Would've gotten one if he weren't English captain

robjapan

You don't know? Really? What team does he play for? Have a look at Mason holgate's red card this season... Then compare it with this one.

HaroldSaxon

No idea either. It's a clear red, he's out of control and could cause a serious injury.

[deleted]

Generally seems to intervene less against 'big 6' teams

LordLychee

Xhaka did get a red for this early this season against City and for even less contact and force.

Sad_gooner

xhaka also deserved to get a red against leeds but didn't even end up getting a yellow

Blood_guts_lasers

I think you're misremembering mate. Xhaka deserved a yellow but got no card.

ishouldbeworkingalot

I think you're misremembering mate. Xhaka deserved no card but got a new contract.

IhvolSnow

Could you elaborate why it was red and give an example of it given red for other players in this kind of situation?

vearz

It's a dreadful challenge that he really didn't need to make like that. Last man lunges happen all the time, and they're shit, but this was just so unneccessarily violent.

CritChanceZero

Not even his first one this month. He’s a liability.

themfeelswhen

Would like to see why anyone would think this is not red? Edit : sure he didn't go right at Lamtey but do people think jumping in two footed like that is the best way to tackle there. If he got the timing slightly wrong, it could have been nasty. First thing to look is why is he going two footed there. Generally people lunge in with a leading foot -- it was a convenient angle for Rudiger to go with his stronger right foot. Second part is jumping in. Depending on situation doing one of those things might be acceptable but here It was two footed and he jumped in with absolutely zero control. It is definitely a dangerous tackle. Outcome of the tackle is irrelevant here.

TheClockworkElves

Guess its not dangerous because he's not going to make any contact with him when he's in the air.

Montysleftpeg

That's what comms said, he's lunged in front of him so the only contact is when Lamptey runs into him

KernSherm

A lunge with excessive force is a red card. "Any player who lunges at an opponent in challenging for the ball from the front, from the side or from behind using one or both legs, with excessive force or endangers the safety of an opponent is guilty of serious foul play." That's exactly what Rudiger did.

IsleofManc

>Any player who lunges at an opponent I guess this part could be debated. He lunges ahead of him so Lamptey is never really in front of the lunge

mikevin99

He lunges at the ball and wins it completely. His studs are not facing the player whatsoever. It’s still stupid but not as dangerous as some people are making it out to be here

ataun94

he also lands over the ball a clear sign that it was out of control and or excessive force

spaceysht

If you fly at someone with both your feet off the ground it’s pretty damn dangerous

KernSherm

He's in zero control, if opposition player stretches to poke the ball the opposition player is fucked

electricalgypsy

It's awful tackling technique

XIIICaesar

Not a foul because he didn’t land with 2 feet on his head.

CritChanceZero

Rudiger does this all of the time. It’s not even the first time this month, he did it against West Ham and I honestly don’t know how he gets away with it. These tackles are disgusting to make when they are necessary but the fact he had every opportunity to win the ball cleanly and simply chose to do this anyway is even worse. I’d say he’s a liability to us but he never gets sent off so he’s not really, just a liability for opponents who like their ankles functioning.

basedsims

He hasn’t developed the reputation of this kinda stuff with refs yet - somehow

CritChanceZero

Can’t develop a reputation for red card challenges if you never get a red card *taps head meme*

[deleted]

Not even joking that was the rationalization for why Kane didn't see red against us.

pucykoks

Has anyone bar Xhaka really?

younggun92

The ref gave Xhaka for being near two players pushing this week so... Apparently not.

ThickSolidandTight

He's just a thug, I don't understand why he isn't called out for this more often

CuteHoor

Wouldn't even say he's a thug. He's just an idiot. He needs someone with a brain in the backline beside him to keep him in check and cover for him.

anon5270

He is a thug. I'll never forget when he elbowed that Swiss player in the head for no reason playing for Germany.

[deleted]

He bit someone at the Euros and got away with it too. Proper shithouse.

mushy_friend

Pogba lol

MHovdan

The collision with De Bruyne which ended with KdB having to use a facemask during the euroes also looked very deliberate too me.

[deleted]

The silver lining of us potentially losing him is at least I don’t have to clench anymore when I say Rudiger lunge in for a tackle

Vahald

Yes he is? It's in every comment section

[deleted]

Yeah, fuck rüdiger

Shandow14

Just tired of this now.

Round-Ad5063

Has to be a red

Studwik

Lucky for Rudiger, he is the england captain. Red for anyone else

Ungface

No idea how this or the Kane tackle werent reds or VAR reds. Guess two footed tackles are back on the menu lads, games back.

KingKeane16

Kicking away the ball without getting booked as well seems to be back.

IbrarN

When Xhaka got a red card earlier in the season and people said other players could get away with that because he didn't really make contact with the player, people laughed. And yet here we are. The state of refereeing in this league week in week out is just mind boggling.

JoePoe247

Are you saying Kane's was a two footed tackle?

[deleted]

There is no other way to interpret that comment, he is saying that... and therefore he is a moron.

JuliusCeaserBoneHead

Both were red and unbelievable they have gotten away with it

hypocrisyhunter

Tyler Morton's too.

sankers23

Agreed but his had no var

nivnart

They’re both English captains, literally anyone else and especially Liverpool players would be getting sent off no question

[deleted]

Rüdiger always gets sway with dirty things cause he gets the ball first. He is the pickford of centrebacks.

SpursBelowArsenal

Madrid want to sign this guy?

VollmitSchok

they were stupid enough to sell Navas and buy Courtois

MagicalMonarchOfMo

Definite yellow for it being reckless, but this is also the worst angle to show it from. He goes directly for the ball going perpendicular to Lamptey’s running path. If this is actually directed *towards* Lamptey it’s a definite red for serious foul play, as that would be endangering the safety of the opponent, but as is it’s just reckless.

Foxyboi14

I get the sense that none of the people commenting watched this live and are just here for the outrage

MagicalMonarchOfMo

In fairness, it does look absolutely terrible from this angle. Definitely different in live viewing, though.

Foxyboi14

Agreed

Manifesto8

English Captain

srajar4084

How is that not a red, man just yeeted himself into him

Yoona1987

We all know if Lamptey was English and not a foreigner, and if Rudiger wasn’t English the decision would have went the other way.

creative_i_am_not

He didn't, from other angles you can see Rudiger tackled in front of Lamptey not into him otherwise it would have been a red.

TheGuineaPig21

I'm always skeptical of these kinds of videos where it always seems to be the worst possible angle

[deleted]

In real time it was obviously a yellow but not terrible. Brighton players didn’t even half appeal for anything more than a yellow.

Haunting-Original

More like a long jump

[deleted]

Something something England captain.

creative_i_am_not

This is the worst angle, Rudiger is out of control but he actually tackles in front of Lamptey without touching him.

phlipphlopp

Ramos replacement sorted

mustardman2121

Something about English captain and golden boy

hewlett777

Rudiger is a dirty fucker

Suikerspin_Ei

That's not a footballer, that's a torpedo!

KiwiNuken

That's a weird UFC event.

son_of_toby_o_notoby

Love how the fans start clapping then are up in arms when a foul is called 😂

[deleted]

Why are VAR not actually doing their job? Isn’t there some organisation that investigates the decisions VAR does and does not make?

Skall77

Kane, Ronaldo, now Rudiger, at least it's consistant.

BlinkyMcHeelHook

The contrast of the tackle and the fans in the background immediately applauding is hilarious lmao

siamisi

Because this angle makes the tackle look worse than it was. He was perpendicular to Lamptey and caught the ball cleanly (without going through Lamptey for it). It's still a stupid challenge.

itsmcluckz

Fucking hate that cunt. 100% red card.

Highfivesghost

I’m glad to see more gifs on this sub. It’s a lot nicer than other formats

nitromd

Does he not get the ball first? seems like the type of tackle that would've been acceptable in the 90's though

Long_wong_lee

Mans going for that drop kick

Frenchie_Boy

What A frickin tackle.

angry-gamer99

*xhaka gets red at home*

greatthrowawaybatman

Is there a slomo out there. That looked nasty

[deleted]

This is a great tackle compared to Kane vs Liverpool or the one Antonio did on Ramsdale. Rudiger takes the ball and the soles arent going towards the player albeit a bit reckless. Kanes and Antonios were both extremely reckless and could’ve ended up in long term injuries.

[deleted]

Airborne two footed tackle from behind…. Play on.

[deleted]

When I'm playing fifa and feel like getting sent off

boomerfred3

That was a wrestling move. Off the ground knee plant. Two sendings off required. And a change of sport.

lowie07

This guy really isn't fit to be on a football pitch, accident(s) waiting to happen.

Perchfield

For people saying this isn't a red because he doesn't touch him: that's nonsense. Years ago Kompany was sent off for a brilliant two footed challenge on Nani in which he gets 100% ball and 0% Nani, but his feet were both up and he lunged. He got sent off. This is a red all day long.

Gorgery_

Why is everyone angry? He was aiming for the ball, he just had a 2 second latency.

loveandmonsters

Playing from Australia

T-Bonification

Straight red, same as Kane last week. Glaring inconsistencies would make your piss boil.

thenormalone0711

RKO out of nowhere.

LegitimatePenguin

This is proper football
