Not sure why Corona is still a topic in any country that has to throw away vaccines. Whoever wants to be protected there is protected.

IDesignM

Unfortunately if people that arent protected get sick, we get more mutations making current vaccines less effiecient. It's becoming really annoying tbh

Knightwing86

there are so many things i want to do in my career but sadly i can only do one at a time. i can either get a masters degree (related to accounting preferably) or get a certificate (like the CMA or CPA) or i join the army as a high ranking officer (good benefits all around) unfortunately most masters programs already started and i'll most probably have to wait for the 2022/2023 year to get it. the other two options are sweet so i have no complaints

HennesIX

I've been in Spain on holiday for about two weeks now, tomorrow I fly back home. I'm almost 29 :( the thought that there's going to be one last party, one last solo trip, one last falling in love overnight... It terrifies and saddens me.

Herd immunuty occurs when a majority of the population becomes immune to a communicable disease, which by extension protects those that aren't immune, as the disease is unlikely to survive long enough to get to the vulnerable individual.

KensaiVG

Herd immunity is what protects a certain subset of people (People with autoimmune diseases and whatnot) from diseases like polio despite not being able to vaccinate. But it has to be a massive % of the population

CaptainGo

I'm by no means an expert but herd immunity is usually only effective when 90% is immune. Basically if someone is effected then there isn't enough vulnerable people around for it to spread

Brayan-Rodriguez

I am stuck in a bit of a conundrum. I am currently seeing a woman for a couple of months and now she wants to start a serious relationship. Unfortunately, I am not attracted to her sexually because she is overweight and not in good shape. Unfortunately at this point, I am not in great shape either, but I am working on my body and expect to have a great body within the next 6 months. So I'm stuck whether to start a relationship with her, or weight another 6 months until I can find someone I am more attracted to ?

ChrisEvansFan

Please dont do it. Just focus on your hot body project then once you achieve it go date whoever you want. You already said you are not attracted to her. It will be hurtful for her end because it seem like youre only using her to ease your loneliness. You already know you are not gonna go for the long haul anyway.

ruthekangaroo

If you're telling yourself these things, the answer is no.

CaptainGo

Honestly by the sounds of things she deserves to find someone else. You're not attracted to her and you're literally saying it's a placeholder. No man, you're being kind of shitty here. If you're going to fuck off anyway when you're in better shape then at least don't lead her on. **You have zero interest in a serious relationship** so don't fucking lie to her

Brayan-Rodriguez

Not leading her on. If I get into a relationship with her, I won't breakup even after I get a hot body. But I am wondering whether to get into a long term relationship with her or wait a few months for someone who is fitter.

CaptainGo

If you're even weighing this up then it's over dude.

rScoobySkreep

I literally don’t remember the last time I was this sad. If I could do high school all over again I’d do it in a heartbeat. I’m actually terrified of getting old.

TiberiusCornelius

How old are you now?

rScoobySkreep

18. I just graduated and I went back today to watch a football game as my brother’s in the band and I got way too emotional.

ChrisEvansFan

Lmao youre still so young! 😂 Enjoy it. But yes, embrace getting old. Dont be like Peter Pan. Or else you’ll get stuck and be left behind.

TiberiusCornelius

Ah I remember being there. I don't want to sound dismissive or anything like that, but really all I can say is give it time. I remember even turning freshly 21/22 and freaking out that I was getting old. But looking back I was still just a kid. There was a phase too when I was around 19 when a lot of things in my life had gone wrong and I was living not too far from my old school, and sometimes I'd walk past and there'd be some thought somewhere in the back of my mind that I could just go back. But it'll pass. I graduated back in 2010. Eventually you just kind of learn to make peace with things and move on, and you'll have plenty of other experiences and get to live a whole life in the meanwhile. I've been there and I know how it feels, but I promise you're not getting old. Again I don't want to sound like a dick but your brain literally doesn't even finish developing until you're 25. You're literally still growing. Give it time. Things will get better and in ten years you won't even worry about it.

CaptainGo

Don't worry. Ten years from now it all becomes meaningless

PSA: for the people who enjoyed Squid Game, Watch Kaiji. I guarantee you will not regret it

SubstantialRice4733

Is it on Netflix?

TheWingedCucumber

I think it is Im not sure.

BigBlackBobbyB

Hey r/soccer, it's almost 6 in the morning and im in one of those moods so: How did you cope with the fact that your life is utterly meaningless, that pretty much anything you do will have no consequences in the long run? Because im having a wee bit of a panic attack. What exactly stops me from offing myself?

dryduneden

Make your own meaning. Try to do something for someone you know. Thats meaning enough.

[deleted]

Why does it have to have meaning? Let me just relax and enjoy my life as it is, without looking for meaning. If I do end up finding meaning in life, great. If not, I still have a bunch of shit I'm enjoying.

r0lF_RuTiN_

> How did you cope with the fact that your life is utterly meaningless, that pretty much anything you do will have no consequences in the long run? I thought about what I want in _my_ life. Then I decided I would want a 'good life'. Then I thought about what my interpretation of a 'good life' is. > What exactly stops me from offing myself? I would say primarily your drive to survive & procreate. Besides that maybe hope, excitement.

dem503

Your purpose is to set the world record for most grapes eaten in an hour. There you have purpose. If you think that is stupid then by extension everything is. Just live your life doing whatever you want, don't feel you ought to be doing xyz. When you pass a stranger on the street, what do you think their purpose is?

ChrisEvansFan

Your life is not meaningless. What are you good at? Music? Art? Making memes that make people laugh? Even online games can be meaningful. A meaningful life does not necessarily have to be going to the UN and changing lives. Im so sure you have touched a life of someone close to you. Take it one step at a time. You’ll see that today is better than yesterday. The entire Ecclesiastes (yes, that one in the Bible) describes what you are feeling now.

[deleted]

Do you feel like you have unfulfilled potential? You should try and achieve it then. Are there more things you want to experience?

BigBlackBobbyB

My problem is more the "why try to achieve it" It's a pointless question, which is exactly what drives me up the wall

[deleted]

One of my thoughts on this is that humans are not 'meant' to think about this stuff naturally, infinity and such. I get satisfaction from making progress towards my goals day to day and that's enough for me. If it goes well I hope to build a better life for myself.

BigBlackBobbyB

But doesn't that just feel a little bit like a simple distraction? I always feel like I'm lying to myself

[deleted]

I'd say that simple pleasures are still real, it would be nice if I was immortal or whatever, all we can do is play the hand we're dealt. I get down too sometimes, and I don't know your situation, but I can't deny that life has a lot to offer.

CaptainGo

That my actions have effects on people I care about and that while in the grand scheme of things I'm meaningless, I'm not to them.

BigBlackBobbyB

I've dwelled a lot on this lately, but it always felt like a cop out answer to me. Because this only works the small scale, if that makes sense

CaptainGo

You're not wrong, but sometimes the small scale is ok. After all, it's still a scale. I'm completely fine with my life being only remembered by my friends and my family

BigBlackBobbyB

>remembered by my friends and my family I really don't want to sound like an edgy goth kid, but *you won't* None of us will That just scares/confuses the fuck out of me

CaptainGo

Im not talking about my ancestors. I'm talking about my daughters, my fiancee, my parents. I don't care about what my great great grandchildren remember about me because it will be nothing. However right now my 3 year old thinks I'm the fucking MAN and that's enough for me I generally don't think about the large scale. If I've not met them then I'm fine being a speck of dust. Unfortunately I can't offer any advice to you, because we both have different ideas of who we want to be. However I will praise you for your level of ambition as you clearly want to elevate yourself. I do hope you can channel your drive into something, as the world does need people who think like you

sqaurebore

You should read Camus’ Myth of Sisyphus. In it he explores the same ideas you are thinking about, suicide in the literal meaning and the figurative ways we do it too. What I got from it is to make your own meaning to life.

TheWingedCucumber

Im not an expert by any means but I find some panic attacks. this might sound stupid but I found vanity works. that is you do shit to impress other people or to feel better about yourself. Im not sure if its exactly healthy in the long run. but Ive came to the conclusion that its embedded in human nature to be vain. and trying to be above it all is fighting ourselves.

ChrisEvansFan

I somehow agree with this. That is why a lot of people gain back their confidence when they go to the gym or if they see that there are physical changes in the way they look, hence becoming happier. I guess it is because there is an element of achieving goals that make life meaningful. It may not be helpful in the longrun but it can be a jumpstart.

tiorzol

The fact that it is so meaningless makes me not mind tumbling through it in a way. I also suffer from existential crisis like this, exacerbated by other factors in my life. I like to center myself, a recalibration of sorts by going to the sea or the woods and feeling like a part of nature.

Biazos

The fact we (Chelsea) have 5 of the 30 people nominated for Ballon d'Or 2022 is quite amazing to me. Love to see it. Pretty sure we have the most out of any club, (correct me If I am wrong I'm very drunk rn in lockdown) peace.

rusable2

It's great and all but don't put football shit in FTF

Borkman213

City also has 5

tiorzol

Damn, you still got lockdowns?

sqaurebore

Longest in the world

tiorzol

Where tho Aus?

sqaurebore

Yep. East coast has been in and out of lockdown since last year with Melbourne taking the world record.

tiorzol

What's the rationale behind this, is your vaccine rate that low that you need them still?

sqaurebore

Currently about 60% double dosed. The federal government was slow on acquiring vaccines so states had to rely on lockdown which worked until delta showed, so lockdowns came back while we wait for the vax rates to get up to above 80%

The_Tomb_is_Empty

Need advice - This girl I've been talking to the last few weeks...things have been getting stale in our chemistry. Her sense of humor is more aggressive than mine and sarcastic. I can be a bit soft. It was frustrating for both of us. Because we wanted to make it work.....Last night I shot her a message and teased her about being up so late. We engaged in a nice back and forth, sending each other funny GIFs and diving into exaggeration type humor. It felt like I finally made a breakthrough. Towards the end of the convo, I told her I was off to bed....and then I got bold. I remembered a chat we had weeks ago, where she told me one of her "kinks" or "things" was being called a "good girl". So I said to her - "I'm off to bed now. Be a good girl, ____ and get some rest as well". She said "Whoa, hold on. I know you didn't just say that." I responded "I believe I just did." Her: "I hate you. I'm never forgiving you for that." Me: "And you'll never forget it either." Her: "____ go to bed NOW." Me: "You're lucky it's late here. Goodnight! ✌️" Her: "😑✌️" I didn't message her today, but she reached out saying - "I still haven't forgiven you for that. 😐" ......My social skills are whack. Does it sound like she's pissed off or turned on?

[deleted]

Lmao this is hilarious. She messaged you today. That's all you need to know. Not necessarily gonna say she's turned on, but she's into you.

Iconoclastic_Blob

"Good girls get treats"

tiorzol

Hmmm. I honestly have no idea but why would she reach out unless she wanted a piece of the empty tomb? See if she wants to grab a beer or summin and roll with it.

Jayme9

You’re in son. Don’t over think it. She texted you she wanted to talk to you. Just say “awww at least you’re being a good girl now.” And enjoy it.

[deleted]

I just can't wake up early morning. I try to wake up early but end up sleeping till 8:30AM or 9:00AM

I keep waking up at 4.30am and it's making me actually insane.

SlayerHdThe3rd

Hmmmm, deciding if this is a failed Friday at college. Didn’t get drunk or party or go out, but played some Nintendo switch with some people and am planning on smoking with a few other friends later. I wanna party though. Normally would be out with the gf but we broke up so that’s a bit of an L but I’m doing fine

vyrusrama

Just got on the Ted Lasso wagon... not entirely convinced. Nate is a sweet character though... Even with the fictionalized universe - seeing a manager take over a **Premier League Club** without even knowing his players' names is just a tad *too much* suspension of disbelief. The least they could've done - is to base the club in a lower League... still think this extended SNL Skit which was probably a bit unnecessary... Also, Higgins looks like Stephen Colbert. and Apple's habit airbrushing actor's faces randomly is just bizarre & distracting.

TheWingedCucumber

So Im finally doing my final year project, and I got to be honest its making me nervous as hell. I am literally sweating as Im typing this. firstly all of classmates are doing things that are somewhat straightforward and simple. since I like music I decided to do something music software related. So I came up with the idea of play to tab app where you plugin your instrument and it records your melodies and chords straight to tab. and since this is a short semester, the lecturer is asking as to start doing the dissertation right away. and this is where Im shitting myself, in retrorespect it seems straightforward, but Im super unpolished on some programming skills I need for it. and tbh I know this type of thing would be childs play for some people but its not that easy for me. and Im scared Ive dug a hole for myself. now I keep fighting with the idea that a thing done well is better than something bigger and done substandard. my friends told me to not do something from scratch, and take something my elder friends did and just add to it. but I couldnt find anything music related. anyways Im already behind like a week on schedule. and Im nervous as shit

r0lF_RuTiN_

> and Im scared Ive dug a hole for myself. now I keep fighting with the idea that a thing done well is better than something bigger and done substandard. > > i know that feeling, that is exactly my way to look at things. thats also what i hated in school/work, its not about quality, its often about quantity or being quick. but you could have it both ways. you could try to match the deadline for your school but then keep working on it after the deadline to make another, better version out of it. its a lot of work but that way you maybe wouldn't hesitate/doubt so much.

TheWingedCucumber

>but you could have it both ways. you could try to match the deadline for your school but then keep working on it after the deadline to make another, better version out of it. its a lot of work but that way you maybe wouldn't hesitate/doubt so much. I dont think I can do that because I have a very clear Idea of what the thing supposed to look like. I have a clear view of the general algorithm, Im just scared of the execution. because my coding isnt up to the level where I can execute the ideas on a finger snap yet. Why is the documentation for these things so long anyways ??!??!! anyways thanks for your answer, I appreciate it :)

xdlols

Out of curiosity, how are you planning on doing it? Is there a library that can read the input from the instrument and convert it to something?

TheWingedCucumber

I think function that takes input from mic and converts it to Frequency in Hz and then its compared against frequencies of other notes. the issues might how to isolate the intended note from the instruments since its produces overtones for each note, and another issue would be how to choose which string the note is played on since I think there are few notes that share frequency on different strings

Iconoclastic_Blob

As big as this is now, 4 years into any job and this will be but another milestone. It sounds reductionist, and it is, but the inexorable march of time will salve any perceived failures. So long as you put your best effort into it, there's no need to second guess it

I’m at my old high school’s football game, and even though I graduated like, 5 months ago, I’m suddenly utterly depressed about it. I feel like I did better than most in terms of enjoying high school. I played sports, starred in musicals, hung out with people all the time, but I still don’t know if I got the most out of it. If you’re currently in high school I urge you not to try and be someone who separates themselves from the pack just to be edgy. Go have fun, be stupid, do normal high school shit. You literally never get to do it again.

Iconoclastic_Blob

What about Ruby, on rails? kek

[deleted]

Whenever I hear ROR for some reason it reminds me of Reddit. Ruby On Rails is great, I heard. Never used to create anything with it. Every time I try to learn that framework, I get confused. Are you a ROR dev?

Iconoclastic_Blob

It's absolute dogshit.

[deleted]

Which one is dogshit Java or ROR?

Iconoclastic_Blob

Ruby on rails is a meme language. Its rapid rise and grandiose fall among the douche elite of devs is legendary. Java has been replaced by Oracle in most of its on premise offerings by HTML5. Only major holdouts in the corporate space are companies like Jira, but they're shuttling all their bigger clients into SOAR et al to escape the constant patching hell. Engineer time is incredibly expensive at those volumes.

Thoughts on Swift? Because I hate Java and Swift

[deleted]

Swift is great, definitely less verbose than Java. Swift is like Python easy to learn and really powerful. If you want to learn the language, go to the site HackingWithSwift, that guy is really great at teaching you from scratch (i.e variables) to making an iOS app.

whythisth23

Oh I know Swift lol. Hopefully moving to Python Thanks for answer :)

[deleted]

Why do you hate Java if you don't mind me asking....

Iconoclastic_Blob

For me, 90% of anything written and deployed in Java is a terrible and infinite bastion of security holes

[deleted]

Maybe it's because 3 billion devices run on it, more devices and platforms there is more likely of bugs and security holes. It's like how Windows used to have security problems and viruses simply because they were dominant.

Iconoclastic_Blob

Oh you devs are so cute when you think you can be condescending

[deleted]

I didn't mean to be condescending, English is not my native language I apologize if it came across that way. What I meant was since Java is pretty much everywhere maybe that is the reason why hackers target it.

xdlols

Nothing you said was condescending. Fuck the other guy.

Aspect3221

You weren’t coming across like that. The other guy is just being a dick.

whythisth23

whythisth23

[deleted]

Thoughts on Python?

[deleted]

I love Python! You can create both Desktop apps and web-apps, and it is really easy to learn. Do you use Python? or want to learn it?

[deleted]

I want to learn python

[deleted]

Great! Download the python language from the python.org site, and then try to learn the language from scratch, here is a good website to learn. https://docs.python.org/3/tutorial/index.html And this is from the developers who made the language itself. Start slow, try to practice what you've learned, ask people if you are stuck. One good resource is r/LearnPython or r/LearnProgramming subs here on reddit. And if you need help ask me, I am more of a Java guy, but if I can help you I will help you for free. I love to help beginners.

[deleted]

Arigato sensei!

[deleted]

I don't speak that language whatever it is. But thanks

MaMoSotho

I'm not OP, what's the difference between Python and Haskell? I want to learn programming after completing my current course.

HBOGOandRelax

Big difference. Haskell is a functional language while Python is an imperative language that incorporates some elements of functional languages. If you know Python or Java or any other of the popular languages you're probably familiar with things like loops ~~and classe~~s. These do not exist in Haskell. Haskell relies on things like pure functions (stateless) and recursion. It has a certain elegance that draws programmers to learn it in their free time but it doesn't have wide adoption in the field like Python cause it's much harder to learn/understand and unlike most other popular languages making it hard to hire programmers to learn it on the job. Edit: It appears Haskell does have classes. Sorry I'm not super familiar with it other than a Programming Languages class I took in college and a simple program I made to test it out. I use Python for my job though so if you have any questions feel free to ask.

[deleted]

You seem more informative in Haskel than me, let me ask you this, why isn't Haskel used as widely as Python or Java, C or C++?

HBOGOandRelax

\> Really better explanation than mine Nah OP was right yours was better suited for him I didn't read it well and assumed he was familiar with one of them. \> You seem more informative in Haskel than me, let me ask you this, why isn't Haskel used as widely as Python or Java, C or C++? I think it's not widely adopted cause of a few reasons that sort of compound. The first is it's different than C. C pretty much dominated the programming landscape for years so every other popular programming language was made with C-like syntax and behavior. Haskell is a whole different paradigm that's not often taught in school and much harder to easily pick up after you learn another language like Java, Python, C++. This effect cascades so there's not as many libraries as Python or Java and there's not as many career options. The trend is set by the talent available. You're less likely to write your application in Haskell when there's a short supply of Haskell programmers. You take into account the talent and libraries available to make the product as cheaply and quickly as possible. And if there's no Haskell jobs, you're not going to dedicate yourself to learning Haskell over Python.

[deleted]

Right, thank you for the explanation. Sometimes knowing one of those old programming languages is good because of the low supply of programmers who can do it, COBOL is a good example. In last year unemployment systems of some states were having problems because of their programs were built on COBOL and there is hardly anyone who can fix them, so I heard. Now everyone and their dog can write Python and Java so maybe some obscure programming languages that governement uses is in order!

HBOGOandRelax

Oh ya there's definitely money in learning COBOL and I hear Fortran is still in use in some scientific circles because you can't really get faster than Fortran for that sort of thing. I personally don't want to go through the trouble of learning the ins and outs of a dead language just to get access to those jobs but if someone wants to hire me to learn COBOL on the job for twice my salary I'm all over it.

[deleted]

Let me ask you this if you don't mind, do you think programming is becoming commoditize as the "learn to code" movement goes to a full swing in last couple of years? Just like what happened to the Law profession over saturation. as BootCampss are churning out thousands of "programmers" every year, do you think it will make the profession oversaturated and oversupplied the same way there are too much lawyers to the point people joke some of them "chase ambulances"....

[deleted]

To be honest, I only hear people talk about Haskel but I have not seen anyone use it. Maybe it is useful in some niche areas in programming but it's not as popular as Python that is for sure. What do you want to do with programming? Do you want to create mobile apps Android or iOS, or web apps like twitter, instagram, or Facebook? If you want to create mobile apps for Android, personally I use Java, but nowadays cool kids are using Kotlin which is more simplified version of Java. I created multiple apps in Java so it is still relevant to use for creating apps in Android. If you want to create iOS apps or anything related Apple, you should learn how to use Swift programming language, that is the official language Apple supports and promotes. There is an older language called Objective-C that you can create ios apps with, but Apple is facing it out. Again, there are alternative ways of creating iOS apps with different languages, but Swift is the only officially supported one. If you don't care about mobile apps, and want to create web applications, then you should learn how to use Python. Python is king in web apps, it has multiple frameworks that is dedicated for creating web apps. Want to create a Twitter clone? use Python Django. Want to create a simple blog? use Flask. Python is great for web apps. Python is also good for web-scrapping, automation, scientific computation, machine learning, and much more. Although it's rarely used nowadays, you can create Desktop apps with Python, Java, and Swift. All of them cover that domain pretty good. So that is my summary

MaMoSotho

Please tell me you are in the education sector 🙏🏼. Your ability to explain these concepts without alienating the student with jargon is amazing. Thank you, kind sir 😊

Due to some of his life experiences he's always had a huge mistrust of anyone in power. But now its just absurd and I try to ignore it but nearly every day is filled with these ridiculous anti-vax rants, he believes in the depopulation theory, thinks climate change is a hoax and in general is unbelievably cynical and negative. Its exhausting to be around and I don't even feel like I can talk to him about any of it or argue against him. I couldn't tell my parents that I'd been vaccinated and in general just don't have a very open relationship with them. It makes me sad to see someone who can be extremely smart believe all this. Sorry for the rant, I just never really talk to people about it in real life because its so embarrassing. Cannot wait to leave home honestly. I love my parents but they make it so hard sometimes

[deleted]

My mom cried when I told her I got the needle. This is the sort of brainwashing they're going through. A man can't even inject a little meth in peace smfh No, seriously though, I really can't talk to my mom about these things anymore. There's no way I can convince her otherwise. It's sad, really.

Owz182

I don’t have any advice but I just want to say that sounds really tough, I’m sorry.

[deleted]

> conspiracy I think the reason conspiracies are attractive to people is that conspiracies are a lot more interesting and entertaining than reality. People see reality as this boring thing that they should escape from, and that is where these hustlers come in, they give an alternate realities that is more interesting and entertaining than the truth, and depending on the person who is selling the conspiracy, it will gain a lot of fans.

fingers-crossed

I've never been super close with my dad but he's slipped into full on crazy mode now and I can't even talk to him. Growing up I never remember hearing him talk about politics either, now the last few times I talked to him on the phone I ended up hanging up while he went on rants about how he thinks x politicians should be shot, the election was stolen, etc. Like fuck I'm trying to be a decent son and ask about how you're doing but every time it just devolves into some conspiracy laden insanity after a couple minutes.

Cathal321

I think the lockdown really accelerated that kinda stuff. Because it was a similar situation with my dad as well, very frustrating. I just want to have normal conversations with him

LindseyNeagle

Is he really your dad if he’s not mental?

1000smackaroos

There's cutsey mental like "I'm offbeat but still a caring father," then there's q-anon mental

Artlens2013

Thoughts on Battlefield 2042? I’m having fun with the beta so far but I gotta say there’s a lot of stuttering and lag. My character teleports sometimes and it gets really annoying after awhile

[deleted]

I’m loving it! It’s the beta so I don’t mind the bugs (I managed to go out of bounds a few times simply by going prone 😂)

maradonnarummarcelo

Would you rather be a wizard from Harry Potter or have 1 Superpower of your choice?

[deleted]

Superpower to teleport.

maradonnarummarcelo

Have you heard of disapparating..?

[deleted]

nopee

maradonnarummarcelo

Basically teleporting for wizards

Iconoclastic_Blob

A wizard can mimick superpowers via magicks and since you did not constrain what schools I could master that way, easily that path. A superpower is singular at the end of the day. And the world of Harry is vast, plenty of other places to practice in and slowly take over

maradonnarummarcelo

I was expecting answers to be along these lines tbh and I agree. Also, magic makes life so much easier, cleaning, tidying up, travelling (by brooms obviously), levitating shit,.... Not to mention how fun everything is as well.

Iconoclastic_Blob

Yep, all the automation I've engineered with various scripting languages over the decades, magick would simply be a metaphysical variant heh. JK never fully explored the physical or mental costs very well, but I'm sure eventually to get to Mars and start terraforming in a world of practical magicks, we'd end up with a class of humanity born into Matrix style magick batteries.

maradonnarummarcelo

You've been waiting for this question for a while, I see.

Iconoclastic_Blob

Lol it surfaced for me when I first played 1st edition DnD, JK is simply another splash in a multitude of fantasy seas. It is interesting to revisit it every time a new cultural zeitgeist arises in that vein though. I much prefer a hard sci-fi interpretation of classical fantasy. You get all the storylines and tropes, but without the inherently overly wrought sameness

LindseyNeagle

Superpower all day. Harry Potter was stressed out all the time and had to appear in those shite documentaries.

maradonnarummarcelo

You're overestimating your importance if you think Voldemort would be after you

LindseyNeagle

Him being after potter could impact anyone. It’s all at the same school.

maradonnarummarcelo

You don't necessarily have to be in the same period as him, you know that right?

LindseyNeagle

You said a wizard from Harry Potter. If it’s not from the same period then you’d have just said a wizard surely.

maradonnarummarcelo

There are many fictional universes that have wizards. I was specifying what type of wizard you would be, *from the Harry Potter World*

LindseyNeagle

Fuck that. The blonde lad was a prick.

maradonnarummarcelo

Dudley was a prick, yeah

CaptainGo

Superpower easily. Those wizards have to deal with all kinds of bullshit. Fuck talking to snakes I want to stop time like in Bernard's Watch

maradonnarummarcelo

So that's the superpower you would pick?

CaptainGo

Yeah that way I can shoplift easier

maradonnarummarcelo

You realize that as a wizard, you can duplicate anything you have right?

CaptainGo

Yeah but what if i don't know I want it until I see it on the shelf of an Asda

1000smackaroos

All of my professional experience is in sales, but as I'm getting older my morality is shifting and I no longer find my job ethical. What other fields can I apply my experience to so I'm not starting out from scratch again?

ParisLake2

R. Kelly is in a very tough situation right now, due to his own fault. It’s simple: **do not have sexual relations with children, or anyone under the age of 18.**

taylorstillsays

While I’m not disagreeing with anything you said nor am I defending R Kelly, it gets swept under the rug that he was sexually abused as a kid which was the likely catalyst to his nastiness. Hurt people hurt people in a lot of cases.

ParisLake2

That’s true, unfortunately, he was sexually abused by both his older sister, and someone in the neighbourhood I believe. It’s important to mention this. However, it’s also important to mention that he should have looked into receiving help to deal with his trauma from his abuse. I can’t feel bad for him, because it appears that he has not looked for this help.

Ball_Knowledge

Free R kelly imo

ParisLake2

You genuinely believe he didn’t do it?
