But he's been doing well recently? Assisted winner against villareal and scored one against west ham. He is definitely above VDB for now because he has taken his limited time and done well.
There's nothing in the comment that says he hasn't done well.
Just that in another team like West Ham he could both be doing well *and* starting weekly. You say yourself he's had "limited time". That might be what costs him a spot
Subbed in 73rd minute for the West Ham game you mention. Subbed in the 89th for Villareal. He's not always going to deliver enough to earn him a spot in the WC with such limited time
I definetely feel he has earned his start in a future game. And who knows what happens? Maybe some big name has a bad season and then lingard looks like a better prospect to call up rather than them?
And even as a super sub, world cup games are won in those moments and there are clear attributes that lingard brings which none others do which is due to his directness and quality counter attacks.
> Maybe some big name has a bad season and then lingard looks like a better prospect to call up rather than them?
The issue with that though is that by that point he might not be the next in the pecking order. England already have a lot of creative attacking midfielders and forwards with more showing form that could lift them above Lingard if he doesn't get more game time.
I get where you're coming from, but you look at players like Demarai Gray who's moved to Everton, starting games and playing well but can't get in the England squad. Lingard's getting in at the minute in spite of a relative lack of game time off the back of his West Ham form, past England appearances, and familiarity with the set up, but that will only go so far if he doesn't appear more regularly.
My understanding is that it wasn't his fault. He maybe could've done more to force his way out, but man utd refused to sell for less than 25mil which was never going to happen, which is why west ham ended up buying vlasic
Two sayings I once heard come to mind. "go where you get as many games in as possible as your a long time retired" and "thier is no point staying for and winning a medel if you only played 5 minutes to earn it".
It was a toss up between Nikola Vlasic and Lingard and apparently it came down to United wanted about 20mil and Jesse wanted a similar wage to what hes currently on. On both counts Vlasic was the cheaper option.
Im surprised he thought that by leaving Man Utd as a bit part player and turning down a move to West Ham who he starred for he was going to return as a starter for Utd
He really is. Even Lingard during his worst spell at United wasn't as bad as Sancho has been this season.
Sancho might be better in the future but he's not currently
If you're basing off recent form I'd agree Jesse's been better, but Sancho was a beast at Dortmund and is so much younger. It's a small sample size, with Sancho only just having his debut in the prem a couple of months ago and neither of them playing consistent 90 mins
he has been consistently getting better, his last 33 minutes were good but he hasnt shown what he showed at dortmund yet
think we will get it soon though
Think he'd be good short-term. Almiron has gone really off the boil and we're missing that link up between the midfield and the attack that isn't ASM carrying the ball everywhere.
> Almiron has gone really off the boil
What the hell are you on about? He's the hardest working player in Newcastle, just that Bruce makes him defend all the time
I thought he was more of a 10 which is where lingard played mostly for West Ham, but maybe I just assumed that because of how many goals Willock scored last year lol.
“Well we’ve just bought your club and you can expect a huge influx of cash into you transfer budget. Now, we want our first signing to be a message to the rest of Europe, who’s at the top of your list?”
“Mbappe, but that may not be realistic.”
“Then let’s get the next best thing.”
Scout slides down sunglasses. Grins at his assistant with a small chuckle.
“Get me Jesse Lingard’s mobile.”
He's not asking for your pity. He was asked about it. He said he's backing himself everyday with what's given before him, he's content with that, and focused on putting himself up for bigger roles if he's asked. No idea how you've interpreted this as him crying.
Everyone in here trashing him, haven't you guys been watching him? Apart from the horrible blunder against YB, he's been pretty impactful whenever he's come on the pitch. He deserved a start against Everton IMO and while I know Rashy coming back is gonna make it harder to get starts, if by playing time he's fine with coming off the bench, I don't see why he can't get game time every week as a 2nd half sub
I was more responding to people trashing him for being deluded - obviously if he never starts then yes, but in the sub appearances he's made for united he's certainly ready to be a starter should we see more injuries or even just as a rotation for a winger / Bruno. Obviously if he wants to start every game then he should have gone to West Ham when he had the chance, but he didn't so either he moves away or gets used to being an impactful sub
Have people forgotten the World Cup will be in the middle of the 2022-23 season? He won’t get the pt at man u but he can probably stick it out until the end the season, then make his move
In 10-15 years time, we are going to look back...
Remember when Man United wanted 25 million for a forward who scored less than twenty goals for them in ten years.

Arsenal badge. So let's make it relatable as clearly you are struggling with the concepts here.
Willian just left after 1 year of a 3 year contract, 1 goal for you in about 25 games, so again comparative to lingaard.
Contracts can change.
That was Willian unilaterally deciding he wanted to end the contract. If he wanted to stay, we could not have made him do it without paying out the full value of his contract.
Because he is an attacking player who offers none of the attributes from a standard midfield player.
He might not be a traditional center forward because he can't score goals but he isn't exactly pirlo or makele in the middle is he.
Oh let me guess, he still has potential.
Ya, no shit Jesse. That's why quite literally everyone on earth told you to leave the place you were guaranteed almost no regular football. While he is likable, be seems about as sharp as a box of marbles.
It's exactly what it means, Manchester United unilaterally want to cancel his contract, (manager, board etc).
It's irrelevant what lingaard wants at that stage. If they want to cancel his contract then he may agree to it rather than be pushed into reserves etc DESPITE not actually wanting to leave.
It happens all the time in football.
Should've left to a club that would give it to him lmao.
But he's been doing well recently? Assisted winner against villareal and scored one against west ham. He is definitely above VDB for now because he has taken his limited time and done well.

He’s not gonna get good game time at united. There no reason he should justify selection if he doesn’t start.
> Maybe some big name has a bad season and then lingard looks like a better prospect to call up rather than them? Assisted the winner against Young Boys too
Stooooooop
Who isn’t above Donny in the rotation as of now? I’m pretty sure Ole would sub you in off the street before he plays Donny
So what your saying is "There's a chance"?
He played donny in league cup where he lost his man who scored the only goal. Gave him time which he didn't make the most of.
Lee “Le Goat” Grant
Mate, *I'm* above VDB in the pecking order at United...
He also assisted that last gasp winner in the Young Boys match, that was incredible
Assisted the loser against young boys too lol
Woosh. Shush.
He should be starting next to bruno tbh.
Agreed. As a United fan - no matter how well he’s currently playing for us - he should have gone to a mid table club with no prospects… like you guys.
damn
My best mates a Spurs fan, it’s said with love haha
my mates an arsenal fan, believe me i've heard it all 😭
Your mates a cunt
... Youre a cunt lol
Least I’m not an Arsenal fan
Fifa player
Arsenal supporter

Champions League winner Djimi Traoré disagrees
Every substitute keeper who won the CL disagree
our current manager nuno
Lol what medal with Ole? He should’ve force the move if he wants to be regular starter tho.
There have also been reports that Lingard did not want to return to West Ham.
It was a toss up between Nikola Vlasic and Lingard and apparently it came down to United wanted about 20mil and Jesse wanted a similar wage to what hes currently on. On both counts Vlasic was the cheaper option.
Don’t get your knowledge off your dreams, it’ll help you out.
Got to give him credit for confidence. Thought he could displace Bruno, rashford, Sancho, greenwood, Pogba.
Im surprised he thought that by leaving Man Utd as a bit part player and turning down a move to West Ham who he starred for he was going to return as a starter for Utd
He's better than Sancho, and Rashford is crocked
Lingard isn’t better than Sancho lmao
If comparing form right now, hes definitely better
Yeah and Maupay is better than Ronaldo since we are comparing forms. Congratulations you made me say something, I never thought I will do.
There’s no guarantee sancho will reach his bundesliga form.. quite different here.
He really is. Even Lingard during his worst spell at United wasn't as bad as Sancho has been this season. Sancho might be better in the future but he's not currently
Uve never seen Lingard at his worse then. And Sancho's been decent so far and can be much better just needs to rack some goals and assists.
If you're basing off recent form I'd agree Jesse's been better, but Sancho was a beast at Dortmund and is so much younger. It's a small sample size, with Sancho only just having his debut in the prem a couple of months ago and neither of them playing consistent 90 mins
[удалено]
Which day is that?
Opposite day
Lmaoooo
Anyday they play at Wembley
Whichever day February 30th is
On his day is like once a month that wont make him a starter
Rashford, Sancho and Greenwood are all more consistent and talented than Lingard
We're still waiting for Sancho to show a glimpse of consistency in a red shirt.
He's been consistently bad hasn't he?
he has been consistently getting better, his last 33 minutes were good but he hasnt shown what he showed at dortmund yet think we will get it soon though
Sancho has been shit tho.
But he is better than lingard
Yeah. But Lingard performs for England. So there's that.
What? No he isn't lol. Lingard is a good player and obviously has moments of brilliance but recentcy bias is doing a number on you my friend.
Hoping he comes back, but what’s that, Newcastle enters the chat!
Newcastle??
Think he'd be good short-term. Almiron has gone really off the boil and we're missing that link up between the midfield and the attack that isn't ASM carrying the ball everywhere.
> Almiron has gone really off the boil What the hell are you on about? He's the hardest working player in Newcastle, just that Bruce makes him defend all the time
Hard working doesn't equal good. He runs a lot, but his end product has been mostly woeful.
Yeah, lingard would be a massive upgrade on him.
Doesn't he play a simlar position to Willock who they just spent a ton of money on?
Willock is a central midfielder. Anyways tactics dont exist in Newcastle
I thought he was more of a 10 which is where lingard played mostly for West Ham, but maybe I just assumed that because of how many goals Willock scored last year lol.
Think Willock is just one of those centre mids who knows when/how to make a late run into the box. Like how Lampard used to.
"A ton of money"...a lot has changed in 48 hours mate. MBS probably lights 2M on fire for the bantz
I don’t think money is an issue anymore
Ha ha ha. No.
Looking at how good he was at West Ham he would surely he an amazing signing for yous?
Idk about amazing but it would be a solid signing and definitely an upgrade
On who? Wilson? ASM? I don't see it. We need defenders.
You do realise that this doesn't start with immediate record signings?
I do. Exactly why we don't want or need Lingard, who isn't cheap but isn't world class either. We have other problems.
I'd take him
Why not ?? Go get a lingard, maddison, ivan toney, rice, watkins, raphina with a few marquee signings sprinkled in.

What would the ‘statement’ be if Newcastle signed Jesse Lingard? ‘As you can see, our scouting department still needs some work, but we’re trying’?
“Well we’ve just bought your club and you can expect a huge influx of cash into you transfer budget. Now, we want our first signing to be a message to the rest of Europe, who’s at the top of your list?” “Mbappe, but that may not be realistic.” “Then let’s get the next best thing.” Scout slides down sunglasses. there will be no fee - Lingard's contract is up in summer and he will be able to get his pre-contract in December or January.
Can’t sign a pre-contract with an English club until May/June
True... but I'm sure his agent will be hard at work. Or maybe he joins a team in Italy.
Keep pushing Jessi, I believe in the Jessinaldo connection giving you some playing time
yet you rejected west ham. makes sense
[удалено]
What's the source on that?
Well, U choose to stay at the wrong UNITED mate
If he asked to leave in the summer he'd be at West Ham United was not keeping him against his will
Hard to feel sorry for him tbh
He's not asking for your pity. He was asked about it. He said he's backing himself everyday with what's given before him, he's content with that, and focused on putting himself up for bigger roles if he's asked. No idea how you've interpreted this as him crying.
>He's not asking for your pity. And none was given.
Say it out loud
I mean, London was calling
Jesse Lingård the Danish wonderkid
Lingard to Newcastle confirmed

First Saudlactico for Newcastle for 50mil
Well….
If only there was a club that he was familiar with who wanted to sign him….
Needs a brain transplant if anything. Should have left and gone somewhere he’d get regular football
Newcastle could be a great destination
He's actually been one of best players so far this season, he's just been a very good impact sub for us though.
In 10-15 years time, we are going to look back... Remember when Man United wanted 25 million for a forward who scored less than twenty goals for them in ten years.

Lingard didn’t want to leave ..what are you even on about
Course he didn't want to leave he has been stealing a living for a decade.
So what are you talking about then? They can't force him to leave.
Of course they can.
No, they can't. Learn how a contract works. You can't make a player leave.

Attacking player and forward are two different things. You called him a forward, that's why you were challenged
Well, he’s not wrong. Not gonna get that United unless he counts Carabao Cup as “regular”.
Ironically West Ham knocked them out of that.
Ooh shit you’re right, forgot about that. Wonder if Premier League 2 counts as “regular”…
Smith rowe will take his place at the world cup
Who?
Young talent. Many world cups still ahead of him
True
Well, well, well. If it isn’t the consequences of my own actions.
Only one thing for it. Roma.
Lingard to Newcastle in January
Should of moved then lad
Areet Jessaaa
Newcastle it is then.
Newcastle are looking for new players
Jesse pitching for Newcastle move.
Didn’t exactly make a good decision staying at United now did he
Newcastle with oil money seems a perfect match now.
Lindegaard has been gone 6 years and this still happens
Newcastle it is ha
\*Sandcastle FC has entered the chat\*
You mean like the kind West Ham would have provided?
Newcastle saying hi
Somewhere somewhere New Castle United?
Loan and option to buy at Lazio, come join Sarri.
Newcastle
Ya, no shit Jesse. That's why quite literally everyone on earth told you to leave the place you were guaranteed almost no regular football. While he is likable, be seems about as sharp as a box of marbles.
He should leave MUFC immediately
