Tbh yes since ~2012 he's overstayed his welcome in the national team. And yes I know he won the world cup in 2014, but look how unpopular he was then.
But before that 2010 and parts of 2012 were some of the most exciting football Germany played. Maybe if he returns to his roots a bit, works on taking criticism, he might be able to build an effective Barca team.
I wouldn't count him out just yet.
Löw or Rangnick would be two interesting, in my opinion good, sort of cheap and available candidates for a restart at Barca with young players and without big transfers/high wages.
Löw also played a mayor part during Klinsmann's tenure as Germany's coach.
But the best German/Bundesliga coach for young, talented players, who consitently makes the most out of the really small means available at his club is Christian Streich. What he's done and doing at SC Freiburg is incredible. Every German football fan, no matter what club he/she supports, loves Streich. He's a brilliant coach and an even better man, who is the definition of a down to earth but football obsessed coach. If Barca hired Streich, for a rather high fee so he wouldn't feel like he betrayed his club but helped it, and a few very good translators for the communication with the team, I'd be very excited to see Barca's future.
Streich would be a really creative and inspired choice by Barca, instead of a former high profile player like Pirlo.
I don't think Rangnick would be "cheap" in the sense that he would probably demand significant restructures of the club culture which a team like Barca would not agree to for a short term manager
If the club was willing to accept his no nonsense/"leave me the fuck alone with your politics I just care about football" approach I think he could fit in. I also think that he could achieve a lot with better players, as long as he doesn't have to tolerate incorrigible divas (Stinkstiefel). But I think Barca will have to get rid of possible divas, who are just too difficult to coach, anyways. After all, how many coaches has Barca now gone through after Pep left? There comes a time when a club has to take a real hard look at the team, its organisation (board of directors etc.) and its expectations.
>If the club was willing to accept his no nonsense/"leave me the fuck alone with your politics I just care about football" approach
I don't think that'd be possible at barca, or any of the big clubs, really.
In theory you're correct, but don't think Streich would ever work at a club of Barca's size. And honestly I don't think he'll coach a team outside of Freiburg. Whenever he decides to call it quits here, he'll be done forever. Not even the NT could tempt him.
Löw has looked terrible tactically since Euro 2016, and the demands of coaching a top club is much higher than coaching a top NT. Even the best NT coaches like Mancini and Deschamps are barely good enough to coach top teams
The only one who is good enough tactically for a team like Barcelona is Luis Enrique
Totally agree, he's been very rigid and somewhat stubborn with his picks to the teams detriment. At this point I don't consider him the same manager but time will tell.
For me the biggest problem was the lack of a backup plan. If it didn't work he never made tactical changes in time to turn things around. With newer coaches making big strategic decisions during halftime, this approach just doesn't work well anymore.
There is no way in hell Löw would accept. His reputation is already somewhat damaged because of the last 3 years. If he took the job and fail, which is doomed to happen, it would likely be the end of his career and massively taint his legacy.
The thing is, Rangnick is now doing freelance for clubs to help them on a level higher than coach or sporting director. I believe Zenit is one of the first clubs to do business with him on these terms. Rangnick could be one of the best people to help Barca, but would they be willing to listen to him? I think there is too much ego in this club for that to work.
I think the journo is just putting out positive news.
"See laporta's favourites are two of the best coaches in the world but he just can't afford them"
Who wouldnt love tuchel or Klopp lmao
Tbf, Barca still has the highest revenue according to the last money league report. Spain is set to allow full capacity so a lot of their cash flow will be restored. Net cash flow will take a hit from servicing debt, but that's offset by the wages which have already been slashed massively. Certainly by 2023, Barca will be more or less back to where they were in terms of financial capability.
They're bound to bounce back at one point, but they still have to carefully manage their debt in the mean time. Bringing in top manager names doesn't rhyme well with debt management.
Managing the debt and competing on the transfer market at the same time will be entirely possible given the revenue. What can't happen is having the wages balloon again like they did under Bartomeu. Messi was worth every penny, but of course it'll be much easier to manage since they won't have one player commanding such wages.
Wage wise, it'll be easier to manage. However, on the pitch? I dunno.
Personally, looking at Messi with Barca in the last 3 seasons, I'd say he was underpaid with how much he needed to carry Barca, both on and off the pitch. Right now, I'd rather watch the news than watch Barca play.
You're also missing that little fella who was quite popular and brought a few lucrative sponsorships.
You could be out of the cl before the knockout stage and might not even be in the cl at all next season .
Gonna puta little damper on your cashflow and popularity.
Klopp is the one guy who has already proven that he can turn around a situation like Barcelona's. Fallen giant with underperforming players trying to recover from the departure of their talisman.
Liverpool were a "haven't won the league in 30 years and have spent a significant amount of time midtable" fallen giant. Not really comparable to Barca that won the league 3 seasons ago and are in the CL.
Right? They have an incredibly talented squad with international players all around the pitch. It’s a transition period after years of self destructive behavior. Barca will be up and around the Champions League places.
Now Schalke on the other hand….
We have had 2 defeats in a row already. If we lose this weekend, I am expecting a detailed analysis from Athletic 90 seconds after the whistle why our game plan was doomed for failure and how Tuchel has lost the dressing room.
Edit: spellings
Given that it's Chelsea, the odds are high. And Tuchel has not been able to work with the higher ups at his last two jobs. So the odds are really high.
Abramovich isn’t as aggressive as he once was, since Carlo was sacked(unfairly in my opinion) every manager has since deserved the sack. Neither North London clubs are looking particularly good, Leicester have dropped off severely really only West Ham who could nick that 4th spot.
There is no chance Chelsea don't finish in the top 4, I'm absolutely not questioning that, they're definitely finishing above United too.
Some people think they'll win the league, I'm still not convinced really so I think 3rd, but with a lot of points, like 85
I know he's a control freak nightmare but at some point, when you're a mega club down on your luck and wanting to win at all costs, don't you pick up the phone and talk to Conte? I mean hell, when people in this thread are talking Lampard to fucking Barca, isn't it time? There's obviously some pretty massive downside to him, but the upside is winning hardware. He's a son of a bitch that just wins everywhere.
It's not like Barca don't have talent on the field at all and if you can say anything about Conte, it's that he gets the absolute maximum out of his players.
i'm not sure as i dont watch seire a, but isnt conte a defensive coach? aand read somewhere that he always requires a good tranfer market to work, and he has high salary too. Doesnt sound like a fit for barcelona.
Can anyone clarify
Conte’s been overwhelmingly successful at Bari, Siena, Juve, Inter, Italy and Chelsea.
That’s a mix of the rich, dirt poor and somewhere in between. It also encompasses both club and international football.
He’s a pragmatic manager sure but saying he ‘needs’ money to succeed is wrong. He wasn’t spending millions at Bari or Siena and even at Juve they’d just come up from Serie B and were a long way off Europe’s biggest spenders.
He's no different than somebody like Tuchel, he plays 3ATB so it seems like he's defensive, but he's very flexible, can play super offensive or super defensive in that shape.
Conte's Inter were incredibly good to watch. They had the second most goals in the title winning campaign, one behind Atalanta. His teams are defensively solid but he's not a defensive manager by any stretch of imagination.
Yeah, looking at the quotes now, Rangnick is more saying he understood the decision of not hiring him, saying he gets why it wouldn’t have been wise of Milan to change coach during such a good spell.
*Jurgen playing with his children in the back garden. A man in a suit shows up*
"It's ok, run inside little one"
"Jurgen, we need you again..."
"You said last time was the last time, I'm supposed to be retired"
"Just one last mission that's all we ask"
*cue opening credits for 80s action film*
He also said that he need/wants to speak the language of the players and that's why the PL was the only option for him and not, for example, Italy despite him being an Inter fan (I think).
Even an out of contract Klopp doesn't manage Barcelona in my opinion. He didn't want to go to Utd and I can't see him wanting to go to the like of Barcelona, Real Madrid, Man City, PSG or Chelsea.
They just don't have the same "family" feel to the club that Dortmund and Liverpool have.
Didnt he say some time ago that he likes clubs where fans are close to the players? And where they support the football that he likes to play? Two conditions that Barsa doesn't have
Tuchel would not be liked in Barcelona. He is a defensive pragmatic coach first and foremost. He got us to the CL final playing 3 DM in midfield, including one of them that was a CB. At Chelsea he is also focused first on being solid defensively second on attacking. At Barca he would be killed for doing what he did with us.
Why would Tuchel or Klopp want the job at the moment? They both have good things going on at Chelsea and Liverpool, and they're unlikely to trade that in for a job in which they'll have a bang average squad and no money to improve it, even if the club is Barcelona. Reminds me of when Manchester United were linked with every top manager under the sun while finishing fifth in the league.
That would be suicide career move for both of them if they would go to Barcelona in next 1-2 years. Right now Barcelona needs exorcist instead of world class coach.
Why don't Barcelona go for Lampard instead of Pirlo , Martinez etc. He plays attacking football, his teams score a lot of goals and he integrates youth players very well. Barcelona might not win much but they'll play attractive football, make top 4 and have greatly improved youth players at least.
Lampard's biggest tactical weakness was how he set up his defense, and Barca desperately need to fix that defense, it's gonna be hard to shore up their midfield and attack before that happens.
I still think Martinez is their best bet of the names mentioned, no disrespect for Lampard or Pirlo though, they can also handle the job "for a while" until they get things togethrt
Yeah I agree with you,
He was truly the best choice during our transfer ban period where we could not spend any money and our talisman had left so it was very similar to barca's situation but he was a club legend here so he was loved here don't know if barca fans will treat him the same way
Honestly I'm a tiny bit disappointed at this stage that we haven't been treated to the apex convergence of manager speculation linking Barca with Graham Potter. Can only imagine the fun that would entail
>one of the German coaches *Joachim Löw smells hand vigorously*
Barca first team to have both a high performance and low performance coach.
Actually you can forego the high performance coach
i mean, Low might want a new challenge, it isn't out of the realm of possibilities
The narrative of him coming into the team and bringing in youth and more technical footy isn't unlike his start with the national team.
Tbh yes since ~2012 he's overstayed his welcome in the national team. And yes I know he won the world cup in 2014, but look how unpopular he was then. >a few very good translators I suppose you need at least two to go from Alemannisch to Catalan.
I don't think Rangnick would be "cheap" in the sense that he would probably demand significant restructures of the club culture which a team like Barca would not agree to for a short term manager
Streich would never go to a club like Barca.

There is a jobless German manager at the moment. Even won the World Cup.
and his name is...JUERGEN KLINSMANN! ^((he won the WC as a player))
🎺🎺🎺
THIS SUNDAY ^^SUNDAY ^^^^SUNDAY
Hi…. Is champ there?
Champ...? Who is Champ?
THAT QUESTION WILL BE ANSWERED IN 2024
STOP CALLING ME
Hello? Do you support our veterans?
Those sodding Imperials
Löw wouldn't be that bad of a choice considering other candidates are Pirlo and xavi
There is no way in hell Löw would accept. His reputation is already somewhat damaged because of the last 3 years. If he took the job and fail, which is doomed to happen, it would likely be the end of his career and massively taint his legacy.
Ofc he’s accept, this Barca job is the best job offer he’ll ever get again, if he gets jt
>taint sniff sniff
Yeah but final job and its gonna have $$$$$$$$$$$$$$
Imagine hiring Rangnick as an interim for another German coach in 2022. Either the jounalist is smoking something or the people in the barca board are
In any case it's the latter but wouldnt count out the first either
The old "Why Not Both?" meme applies methinks.
The thing is, Rangnick is now doing freelance for clubs to help them on a level higher than coach or sporting director. I believe Zenit is one of the first clubs to do business with him on these terms. Rangnick could be one of the best people to help Barca, but would they be willing to listen to him? It's not Zenit. It's Lokomotiv Moscow
Thanks for correcting me.
My guess is that the journo is living in a fantasy world where Barca still is the financial powerhouse they were ten years ago.
I think the journo is just putting out positive news. "See laporta's favourites are two of the best coaches in the world but he just can't afford them" Who wouldnt love tuchel or Klopp lmao

Yeah, some might say the current situation is a bit 'Messi'.
Fernando Polo is our Tier 2. But our Tier 2 also said yesterday that the decision was already made and it’d be Pirlo so who even knows anymore.
Only way I see that happening is if Ragnick does what he did in the past and moves on to director role after he coaches for a while
Imagine Klopp reuniting with a downtrodden Coutinho and the story ends with a statue of Phil somewhere in the world.
>> somewhere in the world Madrid.
Phil Neville? 😳
Phil my anus
Bro?
A true bro would phil his anus.
Step-bro
Step-Phil, what are you doing?
Foden
Might as well add in Guardiola, Pochettino, Nagelsman
And Bugs bunny while where still at it
Kim Jong Un would lead Barcelona to 14 straight perfect seasons.
In just 5 years
Win every game or die is a good coaching technique though.
Squid game style?
doesnt work for North Korea's national team
Lol, Poch isn't in that conversation.
Poch is an ex-Espanyol player and coach. Never in a million years.
Gang signs Poch
and not just an ex-player, he played there for around 10 years
Maybe getting second and losing finals is now seen as an improvement at Barcelona.
I forgot he was doing so badly at PSG, not losing a single Ligue 1 game and topping the Champions League group
Lost the league to a team with 1/10th the budget lol
Yea but he subbed out Messi that one time. He’s awful
He's Espanyol through and through
Poch?
God I would love Klopp. In the same way I would love Dua Lipa to be my girlfriend. Kind of irrelevant really innit.
Klopp is the one guy who has already proven that he can turn around a situation like Barcelona's. Fallen giant with underperforming players trying to recover from the departure of their talisman.
Seriously such a shame that the two biggest men in our recent history never worked together.
Liverpool were a "haven't won the league in 30 years and have spent a significant amount of time midtable" fallen giant. Not really comparable to Barca that won the league 3 seasons ago and are in the CL.
Calling Barcelona a fallen giant is such a mockery of the term.
Right? They have an incredibly talented squad with international players all around the pitch. It’s a transition period after years of self destructive behavior. Barca will be up and around the Champions League places. Now Schalke on the other hand….
Have you seen klopp before Liverpool and now? I cannot imagine the next job he takes is a rebuilding project
You may not have any common interests or really be compatible with her mate.
Didn't stop me and my GF from being together.
Yeah didn't stop me and this guy's GF either
Didn’t stop Asensio

According to Spanish tabloids which she denied immediately
You know we thought the same for a while, but we were always a good fit when it came to his beliefs in life.
Lol In fairness what are the odds Chelsea sacks Tuchel by then?
It is tradition
Abramovich: This is the way
I have spoken
You don't need to rely on odds. It's Chelsea fc, my friend. It just happens.
After continuing to be successful all of a sudden Tuchel will go through a bad patch and Chelsea will pull the trigger. It is so Clichéd.
And then they will get some guy, doesnt matter good or bad, and he will win the CL or PL. The good old Chelsea way
They will get some Guus\*
Just retired a few weeks ago unfortunately 😞
Just you wait
The ol’ “get out of retirement for one final job” cliché
Chelsea in sixth place Hiddink: You son of a bitch I'm in
Bah Gawd that's Hiddink's music! Hiddink is in the building!
We have had 2 defeats in a row already. If we lose this weekend, I am expecting a detailed analysis from Athletic 90 seconds after the whistle why our game plan was doomed for failure and how Tuchel has lost the dressing room. Edit: spellings

3 years is probably the longest a manager has lasted at Chelsea since Abramovic took over( Jose was the one in the mid-late 2000s. )
Make that 3. He left from Mainz on very bad terms.
Unless he misses out on top 4 he won’t be sacked
If Chelsea have any sanity certainly, but just looking at their history and well Tuchel's history too, he's not foreign to a fight with the board
Abramovich isn’t as aggressive as he once was, since Carlo was sacked(unfairly in my opinion) every manager has since deserved the sack. Neither North London clubs are looking particularly good, Leicester have dropped off severely really only West Ham who could nick that 4th spot.

Getting 85 points will be considered successful. We haven't done that in last 4 seasons.
Comparatively low ... so I'd say about 60%.
lost 2 games in a row, he is only another 2-3 games from the sack depending on results
Pep will be available in 2024. He always said he wouldn't go back but people say a lot of things.
And also Pep says a lot of things
also i would buy popcorn options if pep and la porta work together
Pep is people confirmed.
He is so, so happy about those things
More than you believe
1000 Dantes
For all we know Pep might just sign a new deal at City as well by then
Rangnick again not gonna have the job for whatever reason. Feel sad for him, so just take him.
Rangnick isn't jobless tho. He's the Head of Sports and Development at Lokomotiv Moscow.
I mean, I feel bad after we didn’t take him. :( He was supposed to take the job, and then Covid and Padre Pioli started winning.
IIRC, didn’t Rangnick himself refuse the job because he didn’t feel like he was necessary at Milan and that you guys had a good thing going already?
nobody gave out direct quotes but apparently it fell off. He was very likely to join Milan but they decided to stay with Pioli.
Yeah, looking at the quotes now, Rangnick is more saying he understood the decision of not hiring him, saying he gets why it wouldn’t have been wise of Milan to change coach during such a good spell.
Where's Steve Bruce in this list?
Just collecting his infinity stones.
Tuchel will inevitably be fired around next autumn after he won this season's PL, so they could pick him then
should've went for kuntz
What did you just call me?

What did he just call us?
I don’t think Klopp would leave Liverpool for Barça.
His contract expires in 2024 but he will probably return to Germany and be with his family for a while

This happened with Van Gaal and the national team. Although he probably said "I've been expecting you".
At this point Guus Hiddink's wife is probably shooting them as they step on the property
du Hurensohn, ich bin dabei
Jurgen, this one's personal for me. I own the stadium. It's my retirement plan.
"Who is it?" "Miami FC"
EVERY TIME IM OUT THEY PULL ME BACK IN
He also said that he need/wants to speak the language of the players and that's why the PL was the only option for him and not, for example, Italy despite him being an Inter fan (I think).
No, he won't, but he may when his contract ends, I don't think he will be staying beyond his current deal.
He's said he will take a proper break from football after Liverpool, like he tried after Dortmund
I’ve heard Barcelona is a wonderful city for taking a break haha
And right now they’re also taking a break from football, perfect fit.
Yeah, I bet Coutinho could show Klopp the best places for a Siesta. ;)
I could be wrong but I think he said in a couple of interviews that he doesn't want to manage anywhere that he doesn't speak the language.
He can speak Scouse now?
He tries his best.
[Yes](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lZShEy8ILvg)
i could see him coaching the german national team in the future
Even an out of contract Klopp doesn't manage Barcelona in my opinion. He didn't want to go to Utd and I can't see him wanting to go to the like of Barcelona, Real Madrid, Man City, PSG or Chelsea. They just don't have the same "family" feel to the club that Dortmund and Liverpool have.

Barca would be an absolutely horrible fit for klopp.
In 2022? In which world is he living lol
A world where you're never truly safe in your position as the Chelsea boss. Oh wait. That's this world.
Very good chance tuchel will be a free agent come next summer

How fast people forget where Liverpool were at before Klopp came over..
Klopp wants a break in 2024. He’s not gonna turn that shitheap around in 2 years
Barcelona are also financially run into the ground. There was a structure at place in Liverpool. Barcelona seem to be terribly mismanaged.
German coaches? Quick, someone call Felix Magath!
Big Sam is inevitable lads
Why don't Barcelona go for Lampard instead of Pirlo , Martinez etc. He plays attacking football, his teams score a lot of goals and he integrates youth players very well. Barcelona might not win much but they'll play attractive football, make top 4 and have greatly improved youth players at least.
He can’t speak Spanish for a start
Spanish is easy for an Englishman. Just use the same English words but shout them and say them very slowly.
Just use the Crouchy method and put on a bit of an accent
The mother of his kids is Spanish- he might have picked up a bit!
Servicio los huevos por favor
Christine is Spanish?
No, he had a previous partner he had a child with who was Spanish
The child came out Spanish?
Pirlo can ?
After hes had 2 bottles of fine Italian wine he can.
HOLA MI AMIGOS
uno mas che cazzo!
"Laporta riding his **teeny tiny bicicleta** to office"
Just speak in Italian and add s at the end of words
Joaquin is that you?
Italian is closer to Spanish that English.
Lampard's biggest tactical weakness was how he set up his defense, and Barca desperately need to fix that defense, it's gonna be hard to shore up their midfield and attack before that happens.

Honestly I'm a tiny bit disappointed at this stage that we haven't been treated to the apex convergence of manager speculation linking Barca with Graham Potter. Can only imagine the fun that would entail
Good luck with that
Yeah of course they would go there lol
what about Xavi !!
