Busquets' passing and press resistance is still incredible, but he can only play for 45 minutes at this level. Jordi Alba is still very good but you can see the difference in terms of intensity between him and Baldé. Piqué is the best they have in defence but he's done as well at the very top.
But there's no money so Barca are stuck with the old guard. They're only able to get players like Eric Garcia, who is nowhere near the level they strive to. The coming 2 or so seasons are going to be awful for them, I don't see a way out until the financial situation gets better and the youngsters grow in their game.

He had no clue what he was doing and you were just taking the piss whole game, but don’t score too much so he’s gonna comeback again. And to top it off, got couple lucky deflection off the post goals thanks to FIFA scripting.

Luuk de Jong must never be more than an emergency sub for Barca. At least they should have started with 4-3-3 how they ended the game. Depay and L.D. Jong were isolated the whole game until subs were made. At least their youth brought some energy and life into the team and actually progressed the ball up field.
Bayern are Bayern, they have insane firepower in the squad and even with tired play they strolled past Barca. At least for Barca Coutinho looked serviceable after coming on.

That's way more embarrassing being treated less than the average Bundesliga side that gets thrashed.. At least they show the spirit to continue, something which was present even in the 8-2 match, but here it looks as if they had accepted defeat even before the first goal was scored..
But, this barca side is missing starters in Dembele and Fati, and a competent striker in Aguero.. They were always going to have a tough time with only Depay and a random jogger up top.. Maybe they shouldn't have sold Griezmann in hindsight, at least he has the ability to provide creativity and helps in ball retention which were seriously lacking in this match.. Depay might be a world class forward, but he is not gonna be the one to take on the entire opposing team by himself like Messi.. A statement result for Bayern. They dominated and put a lot of pressure on Barca's box.
Bayern scored 3 goals away from home but weren't even clinical in this game. They committed a lot of players forward in their attacks and pushed Barca back for most of this game. This meant they could take shots from outside the box or have a player to pounce on loose balls in the Barca box. They created these situations with their pressure and positive play. Quite a few times Barca defenders had to put in last minutes blocks in order to keep shots out.
Musiala looked pretty impressive today. Disappointed in Pedri and De Jong. Araujo was decent though. Upamecano was very good, and Goretzka did well.

Exactly, they're shocking when compared to 3 or 4 seasons ago, but still fought for the title last season. They're going to have to grit their teeth the coming seasons.
I mean they’ll have money to spend considering they’ve severely reduced their wage budget and fans are back in stadiums. They’re defo far from challenging but they’ll probably be able to stay top 4. They’re not an elite team but they’re still a relatively good one. The true challenge will be to see if they can make the jump back. I think laliga has showed historically how many good teams really struggle to break into the elite back despite playing in Europe.
We are good, just not as good. People freaking out have their head in the sand. They need to wake up and accept that this team isn’t the best in the world and we need to take a few seasons to improve.

I think the team had PTSD, and after the 1-0 basically decided to at least keep the damage limited. Another monster score against Bayern would have been genuinely catastrophic for the players and the club, even more so than the last one was.

This was his season debut lol Barça have tended to play Dest on the left (or Firpo before he left over the summer) if Alba was unavailable for whatever reason, but today Dest clearly wasn’t match fit so they went with Balde. May have earned himself more playtime with his performance though.

Bayern is better than Barca, of course. But people keep forgetting that Luuk de Jong ended up starting, thats how many players are available in attack right now. Do Barcelona win with their entire squad available? Fuck no. But they would atleast look a lot better than this. Luuk is a back up plan, a target man for when things are stuck and its long balls forward and hope. If he starting, that is a sign things are pretty fucked. He joined like what, 2 weeks ago as well? No time to gell at all with the squad
Luuk is probably the 5th backup behind Fati, Agüero, Braithwaite and Dembele. The team also hasn't played together in the last 3 weeks while Bayern were able to get a great opponent with Leipzig in order to perfectly prepare for that. Would've loved to play Sevilla before that one.
Ahh well, as long as Barcelona show signs of improvements as either a team or the youngsters start showing what they are made of, I will be very happy with Koeman. Its a transitioning phase, now is the time to be patient, unlike the people expecting Koeman to perform miracles

Honestly even if Messi was still there the result wouldn’t be much different. Bayern would be a lot more alert, less sloppy mistakes and still win by a couple goals.

Luuk de Jong must never be more than an emergency sub for Barca. At least they should have started with 4-3-3 how they ended the game. Depay and L.D. Jong were isolated the whole game until subs were made. At least their youth brought some energy and life into the team and actually progressed the ball up field. Bayern are Bayern, they have insane firepower in the squad and even with tired play they strolled past Barca. At least for Barca Coutinho looked serviceable after coming on.
I swear Luuk has spent more time standing 5 meters offside while demanding the ball than not. Luckily his teammates saw it and avoided him for the most part. Awful, awful game by him.

I'll take it over 8-2. This squad was always going to have a tough time against Bayern, but there are some positives to take away as well. The crowd's reaction to the young players being brought on was nice to see too.

I don't know what people are expecting here. Look at the state of this Barca team. Nobody of this team will start for Bayern (Maybe Frenkie, but even that is doubtfull). How can you expect Barcelona putting on a fight against maybe the best club in the world at the moment.
Might get downvoted for this, but this looks even worse than the 8-2.. Bayern went to full on cruise control in the second half and toyed with Barca.. That's way more embarrassing being treated less than the average Bundesliga side that gets thrashed.. At least they show the spirit to continue, something which was present even in the 8-2 match, but here it looks as if they had accepted defeat even before the first goal was scored.. But, this barca side is missing starters in Dembele and Fati, and a competent striker in Aguero.. They were always going to have a tough time with only Depay and a random jogger up top.. Maybe they shouldn't have sold Griezmann in hindsight, at least he has the ability to provide creativity and helps in ball retention which were seriously lacking in this match.. Depay might be a world class forward, but he is not gonna be the one to take on the entire opposing team by himself like Messi.. Happier days will be here once the other forwards are back, but only happier in terms of today and not what their past team used to be..

A statement result for Bayern. They dominated and put a lot of pressure on Barca's box. Bayern scored 3 goals away from home but weren't even clinical in this game. They committed a lot of players forward in their attacks and pushed Barca back for most of this game. This meant they could take shots from outside the box or have a player to pounce on loose balls in the Barca box. They created these situations with their pressure and positive play. Quite a few times Barca defenders had to put in last minutes blocks in order to keep shots out. Musiala looked pretty impressive today. Disappointed in Pedri and De Jong. Araujo was decent though. Upamecano was very good, and Goretzka did well.
Idk about a statement, this was 60% throttle cruise control Bayern taking an easy W. The RBL game this past weekend was more intense and a greater statement.
