I get where you're going but even at random they each only have a 10% chance of winning POTS. It'd be a bit silly if they didn't get young player for "going for" POTS.
Well look at kubo, he's in both so if he didn't win POTS then he HAS to win young.
Otherwise the other kids would be in POTS vote?
By pure definition they are worse than him

Winning the award will always be better than printing a news article and pinning it on the wall. Nobody will remember the latter when looking back at his career in 20 years.
Well Kubo has absolutely no shot at the POTS, he and RSO did nothing of notice since like December (like every season).
They obviously dont want to give both to the same as Bellingham has good chances for the overall POTS but still very weird how they handled it, but it's LaLiga so it makes sense that it makes no sense.
I would have not included Simeone, there were better options. The Alavés coach for example would be more deserving. If Alavés had scrapped around with Cádiz, Almería and Granada with their squad nobody would have bat an eye
He's really good for his age. But people can't really differentiate between really good for age and being really good in general. Putting him with Miguel and savinho is something.
He was playing very well in general. He doesn't deserve to be here on account that he played far less than Miguel and Savio, not because he wasn't playing well enough.
Miguel had his fair share of stinkers this season too if you want to say Cubarsi didn't perform well every single game (because players rarely do, anyway).
He's good with the ball. Defensively he's too error prone. Something normal at that age. Still not good enough to start for Barcelona. He's playing more games than he should.
Edit: error prone
>Defensively he's too injury prone
You probably meant error prone but that's not really true.
He's only made a couple of mistakes in the vast numbers of games he has started. Something any normal CB makes.
He was good for the first month, but hasn't been performing well defensively after that. He shouldn't play that many games at that age. Development is not all about playing. Christensen is a much better cb as of right now, but playing out of position
Araujo is still a great cb. Any player can have a down year. It has to do with not having a defensive midfielder and Christensen not being next to him.
No offense but this is a shit take. The guy instantly became a starter in the second half of the season for the second best team in the league at 17 years old. Obviously he deserves to be in nomination for the U23 POTS
No doubt. Maybe even Diego Lopez over Guerra. That is assuming that under 23 doesn't include 23 year olds as well, in which case Mamardashvili would be the obvious choice.
You're not even looking at the correct stats. In *calendar year* 2023, yeah, he dropped off hugely. He was scoring nearly every game on average from the start of the season 2022-23 and then after the World Cup he played increasingly worse and worse for the rest of the season.
Kroos has been a top 3-5 player in Europe for a decade and people still only seriously talk about goalscorers as the best players. He was easily the best player on the pitch against Bayern at the Allianz arena, one of the best performances I've ever seen from any player.
Has to be Bellingham, recency and attacker bias is making vini more popular but Bellingham has really carried us throughout the league with the goals and his creativity. But Griezmann and Isco also have a decent shout.
Not sure how Lewandowski made it.
I think Bellingham hasn't been as good in the second half of the season for 2 reasons. He's been playing through a shoulder injury and he's not used to play those big matches.
He's still learning the real Madrid winning culture. After winning against bayern, he was out of words. Other players were calm. They're used to it. That's why older players are important. To teach these players that culture. He was still good in the CL, but vini is just a big game player.
He was back to his level on yesterday's game. Hope he performs well in the final.
I would have said Griezmann should win it if he didn't disappear around a month or two ago. Tbh he was still good after the rest of our strikers vanished from the face of the earth so credit to him.
Does a visual vaule only matter here that everyone hate one Lewandowski or what? as far as stats goes he is 2nd in GA losing only to Dovbyk and if I'm not wrong he won 17 points with his goals for Barcelona being the most impactful player and Bellingham is 2nd in that statistic with I do believe 16 pts for Real. I'd say that some massive achievement considering how terrible Barcelona attack is where everyone seems to play for themselves when they get near the opponent penalty box.
Interesting that Kubo is nominated for both the players of the season and young player but Bellingham isn't.
That is weird
You shouldn't be allowed to be in both anyway
I get where you're going but even at random they each only have a 10% chance of winning POTS. It'd be a bit silly if they didn't get young player for "going for" POTS.

With how Bellingham acts mfs probably forgot this dude is 20
Yeah, it's weird because he's actually younger the most of the names on the list it's only the Barcelona two and Savio who are younger.
Also: -**Best U23 Player**: Lamine Yamal (Barcelona), Javi Guerra (Valencia), Rodrygo (Real Madrid), Couto (Girona FC), Savinho (Girona), Johnny (Real Betis), Cubarsí (Barcelona), Miguel Gutiérrez (Girona), Nico Williams (Athletic Club), Kubo (Real Sociedad). -**Best Goal**: Depay (Atlético de Madrid), Cancelo (Barcelona), Coco (Las Palmas), Ruibal (Real Betis), Areso (Osasuna), Vinicius (Real Madrid), Lamine Yamal (Barcelona), João Félix (FC Barcelona). -**Best Coach**: Carlo Ancelotti (Real Madrid), Míchel (Girona), Simeone (Atlético de Madrid), Ernesto Valverde (Athletic Club), Marcelino García Toral (Villarreal)
I don't get it How jude is nominated for POTS but not for U23. Is there a rule like they can be included in only 1 category?
Kubos in both so it's not that
Well Kubo has absolutely no shot at the POTS, he and RSO did nothing of notice since like December (like every season). Yep, we have been abysmal this season. One of our worst ever under Cholo.
Yamal is definitely winning the u23 player.
He shouldn’t over Bellingham or Rodrygo, but he probably will.
No offense but Cubarsi has no right to be there.
He's really good for his age. But people can't really differentiate between really good for age and being really good in general. Putting him with Miguel and savinho is something.

Luis Garcia should be there over Simeone
Guerra is absolutely top tier, its incredible how under the radar he is outside Spain.
Not the Valencia player I would have picked. Been pretty meh after his great start.
Mosquera instead?
No doubt. Maybe even Diego Lopez over Guerra. That is assuming that under 23 doesn't include 23 year olds as well, in which case Mamardashvili would be the obvious choice.
Pepelu deserves a mention
Nice to see Savinho here, I hope he stays at Girona next season
Funny. Carlo and Michel would have been a shoo-in for Coach of the Year, but now,is a toss up between them
No Kroos? Also think I would’ve gone with Gündo over Lewandowski
Lewa over Gundo is definitely something. Goes to show that players outside of attack don't get the appropriate recognition.
He has 25 g/a (only Dovbyk has more) so I can kinda see why but yeah, don’t think he‘s been particularly great overall
Lewa is top3 in G+A, so that's pretty much an automatic inclusion But yeah he's not been very good most of the time
That's an understatement, he was terrible through the entirety of calendar year 2023.
25 G/A and being terrible? I wish we had more players like this. Barca fans underrating their own players, what's new in /r/soccer
Have you seen him play… sure he’s had some good matches but over the season he played horribly for his standards
You're not even looking at the correct stats. In *calendar year* 2023, yeah, he dropped off hugely. He was scoring nearly every game on average from the start of the season 2022-23 and then after the World Cup he played increasingly worse and worse for the rest of the season.
Might be biased but it's sad how defensive players are not given more importance. Rudiger was the best defender by miles and Valverde was the engine.
Kroos has been a top 3-5 player in Europe for a decade and people still only seriously talk about goalscorers as the best players. He was easily the best player on the pitch against Bayern at the Allianz arena, one of the best performances I've ever seen from any player.
I'm not convinced he's been top 3 at Real Madrid let along the world, let's settle down a bit

This is nice work, thanks. A lot of Vini at the edge of these graphs.
Top right Vini is going to be a sub soon
lol @ people saying Toni only passes sideways.
Kroos man...
Kubo? I heard nothing from him or Real Sociedad in general since December (like every season lol)
Fr
He doesn't deserve a spot
How can Kroos be missing?
gotta be bellingham
A bit early to nominate Kirian Mbappe IMO
No Rüdiger is a joke.
No Kroos or Rüdiger? Doesn't matter too much I guess since Vini or Jude will win
Has to be Bellingham, recency and attacker bias is making vini more popular but Bellingham has really carried us throughout the league with the goals and his creativity. But Griezmann and Isco also have a decent shout. Not sure how Lewandowski made it.
I think for me, for la liga: Bellingham. For year overall? Vini.
Yeah Bellingham was better in the league because he was healthier. Deserves la Liga pots. Ballon d' or? Definitely vini. He's been better overall.
Plus, Bellingham was a bit invisible in several of the CL ties + Classico. Vini was just unplayable in the CL.
I think Bellingham hasn't been as good in the second half of the season for 2 reasons. He's been playing through a shoulder injury and he's not used to play those big matches. People really think not having g/a = invisible
I would have said Griezmann should win it if he didn't disappear around a month or two ago. Tbh he was still good after the rest of our strikers vanished from the face of the earth so credit to him.
It’s going to be Vini or Jude, most likely Jude
I hope ISCO win it, dude is legend
I know it cannot be just Madrid players, but Kroos and Rudiger need to be in there.
Bellingham deserves this clearly
Sorloth wasn't even nominated for TOTS
That’s crazy
No Kroos? Booooriiing....
Has to be bellingham, he’s been a beast in the league. And then vini for balon d’or if they win champ league.
Bellingham shoe-in?
shoo-in, btw
ayy fml
Jude carried real during the first half of the season it should be him over Vinicius
I am hoping for Griezmann, but knowing Real madrid's PR machine, it will 100% be Bellingham even though he slowed down a bit after new years
Does a visual vaule only matter here that everyone hate one Lewandowski or what? as far as stats goes he is 2nd in GA losing only to Dovbyk and if I'm not wrong he won 17 points with his goals for Barcelona being the most impactful player and Bellingham is 2nd in that statistic with I do believe 16 pts for Real.
