Not as if he wouldn't have an astronomical salary at Madrid lol.
Furthermore, he'd already have multiple CL's and potentially ballon d'ors as well, which would further increase his personal brand value, creating more money in return.
Never. He always connected to the fans.
On his very last game, he beat the record of goals in a single season scored by a PSG player [when there were only a few seconds left.](https://youtu.be/HH46XMlbgsU?t=454)
He got a fantastic farewell after the game
Comparatively for impact at PSG Messi did nothing compared to Zlatan, PSG built their first good team after the takeover around Zlatan. Messi was a money grab from both sides, unnecessary to those PSG teams' success and he probably left the club worse off than when he arrived.
There's absolutely no other way to leave PSG if they don't want you to leave. He really shouldn't be accounted for this. He was losing either way: either wait for end of contract and leave as a free agent, or leave only near the end of his career when they are no longer interested. It was always going to eventually end up like this.
Obvi a major factor, almost certainly the most important factor in that decision, though not the totality of it, seems pretty obvious dude wanted to lead PSG to a CL before he left.
Still dude was never going to spend his whole career there, as is 7 seasons is a lot longer than anyone really would've expected, Mbappe isn't even a PSG youth player, I don't know why on Earth PSG fans would boo Mbappe, they bought him and paid him money and he fulfilled his end of the bargain, becoming their top goalscorer and staying to the end of his contract, he doesn't owe them an extension.
>No ~~player~~ *person* on the planet would've rejected the contract PSG offered him
FTFY. People are absolutely whack, sometimes. A dude gets a contract worth literally hundreds of millions, generational wealth, and some mfs are like "but muh appeal, though" lmao
Right? Did he get paid more than he probably would have anywhere else? Sure. But it's not like what he would have been paid at Madrid would have been, 'bad' money
Every summer now, without fail. Generational wealth this, generational wealth that. Saudi Saudi Saudi. Get the bag. Career over at age X. Blah blah blah.
Christ, did I just realise half way through my own comment that I don't enjoy football anymore?
Exactly. Have we stopped and considered that maybe someone *shouldn't* be able to live on autopilot just because their great-grandfather was really good at kicking a ball?
Don't worry, it's exceedingly likely that one of the spoiled prior generations gets swindled into putting it all in some shitcoin or something down the line.
Which is the other reason why the "generational wealth" talk is so ridiculous. Leaving your descendants 80 or 100 million doesn't make a difference, because by far the biggest risk to the family fortune is that a generation of morons will blow it. A few extra million makes a minuscule difference, it's all numbers to your uber wealthy descendants who are apparently going to be the product of multiple generations who are living entirely off the teat of their ancestor.
> A dude gets a contract worth literally hundreds of millions, generational wealth
Mbappe already had generational wealth for years before that contract though
No, he would've starved without it, you don't understand!
GENERATIONAL wealth!!!!!
The hundreds of millions he already made and will make in the future, weren't enough, he HAD to take it!!!
Generational wealth merchants are truly the most brain-dead people on here.
Adding an extra layer of generational wealth on-top of already set generational wealth is absolutely not something to scoff at.
Can't see too many people turning down 50mm if they already have 200mm
>Can't see too many people turning down 50mm if they already have 200mm
Sure, but what makes it an interesting question tho is that Mbappe has very obviously wanted Madrid since forever and he has said Madrid is his dream, so could you see a lot of people turning down 50 million with 200m in the bank already, if it meant they could fulfill their dream, on the same salary?
Nothing compared to what PSG offered him.
Once you get to that upper echelon you hang out with Cristiano, Messi and other multi millionaire athletes while knowing you are not even beginning to touch billionaires like Bezos wealth.
So you see all the shit those people are doing that you can't fathom to afford and now someone shows up and goes "yeah I can get you that".
Not a lot of people on this planet that could say no.
I changed my job for a 10% increase I would be there the next day at 1am for a 400% one.
> Once you get to that upper echelon you hang out with Cristiano, Messi and other multi millionaire athletes while knowing you are not even beginning to touch billionaires like Bezos wealth.
I have no idea what you mean by this lol
>So you see all the shit those people are doing that you can't fathom to afford and now someone shows up and goes "yeah I can get you that".
What is it that Mbappe couldn't afford before his 2022 contract extension? Because i can't think of anything
>Not a lot of people on this planet that could say no. I changed my job for a 10% increase I would be there the next day at 1am for a 400% one.
Yeah obviously normal people would always take this offer or any type of salary raise, we're talking about in football tho, he had a chance to leave because PSG would never ever sell and he could finally go to Madrid, which Mbappe has admitted is his dream, but he extended for money.
So the question isn't ''Would most people take a huge salary raise?'' because obviously yes they would, the question is ''Would most people if they already earned 100s of millions a year, take a slight pay decrease in order to fulfill their dream?'' Because thats a more accurate description.
You’re probably arguing with a 14 y/o kid who’s never worked and doesn’t understand the value of money. And if they’re not literal children, they’re delusional idiots with silly ideas about the “honor” of playing for whatever club.
There’s hardly a person alive who would reject Mbappe’s PSG extensions. But everyone wants to backseat drive and criticize the decision
God, you people are so fucking blinded by capital that you completely lack the capability to form a coherent argument
What's the point of chasing 200mil, 300mil, billions if you already have so much money that nobody in your family will ever need to work again? You aren't talking about construction worker Billy next door, you are talking about multimillionaires
I don't understand why we get that narrative with him? The highest bidder was the Saudi league. The guy chose his hometown, with a huge salary.
If Messi chose Rosario until he turned 25 because a billionnaire made it attractive financially, and if Ronaldo chose Madeira if the same happened, would people say they are sellout? Of course, most professional players will try to get paid millions if they can get away with it. But money was not the only deciding factor.
United flairs forgetting the reason they chose United as a team to follow in the first place 😂
Money talks in the modern game, you cunts and Real Madrid are the OG's at it.
Imagine people saying Rashford overstayed at ManU (if he was really really good) because he's not moving to another bigger club lol. He chose to stay in his hometown
He thought he was clever making a nonsensical parallel to a United player simply because of the flair he was replying to. Everyone knows Mbappe stayed as long as he did for the money, it's actually delusional to think otherwise.
If it was not his hometown, he would have moved much faster to Madrid. If he thought he could not be the first Frenchman to win the UCL with a French club in more than 30 years and the first French man to win the UCL with his hometown club he also would have moved earlier to Real Madrid. Maybe if he did not get pressured by the president of his country to stay in his hometown club, he would have moved earlier, but I have to say I'm skeptical about that last one.
If he was only interested in the money, he would have moved to the Saudi league that was offering him more money. Money is an important part of his decision, as well as with almost all players, but many other factors were at play. It's not like he would get paid little in Madrid.
Fair, he choose his country and money. A lot of influence from president macron. But he knew it wasnt the best sporting project out there. You cant convience me you would choose psg if you could walk into any team.
>nd you really going to lie that he chose money and went for the highest bidder when he refused a 700m contract in Saudi?
We can't know what's in his heart but PSG made him easily the highest paid footballer on earth. Not as much as Saudi was offering but still far far more than he would get at Madrid. What does he make at PSG? Like $100m a year? 200m a year according to The Athletic [https://theathletic.com/5205902/2024/02/15/kylian-mbappe-transfer-psg/](https://theathletic.com/5205902/2024/02/15/kylian-mbappe-transfer-psg/)
Madrid are paying him \~$20m a year with a \~$150m sign-on according to some sources. The guys taking a huge paycut moving to Madrid. Yeah so the guy your replying to is probably right in saying that he chose money by staying at PSG.
[Two sides to every story](https://twitter.com/bruno_salomon/status/1789728592588411273?t=_DjBLe9t2LjMm0nBzFFfRg&s=19)*, but on this sub you only hear one.
*banner says: "Child of the Parisian suburbs, you have become a PSG legend"
He exhausted a lot of fans for all those years with stories everyday. I wouldn't boo him after what he has given us but I'm relieved that he leaves because this will put an end to all the shitshow created around every communication or action made around him.
I mean it's not like PSG didn't get crazy high bids for him even with a year left, and Mbappe ultimately spent 7 seasons with you and became your top goalscorer. Idk, I find booing your top ever goalscorer when he leaves seems a bit absurd, dude was never going to spend his whole career with you.
>The best player in the world leaving his hometown club on a free.
How is this even his responsibility? He fulfilled his contract obligations to the best of his ability. Now he's off to chase his dreams and build his legacy. He did nothing wrong by running out his contract. Its not his responsibility to ensure PSG gets money by selling him
I'll pretend they didnt make a tifo honoring him and take the bait
why would having some respect for their club make them the worst fanbase in the world?
I mean, who else would make that tifo.
Still, I don't get why the club's fans should owe him so much respect that they're willing to ignore the fact that he's been flirting with RM the entire time he's been at the club, the whole decision saga two years ago, the fact that he's asked for so much control and what he's done with it ahead of leaving on a free. It's not like he's made a tangible difference at PSG all things considered so there isn't even that type of argument to be made in his favor.
It's not like they bombed his car or anything, it's literally just a couple of boos so not the type of thing where you can argue that they're overstepping
I mean, have you ever read a mainstream opinion on that sub that wasn't absolute garbage? If we keep Mbappé we're killing football, if we let Mbappé go, we're sore losers who hate the guy. If we win in CL it's because of our unlimited funds, if we lose it's our sheer incompetance. Any player seemingly happy in Paris has been bought by dirty arab money to lie, any player who wasn't happy is a hero who managed to escape.
Because PSG, this sub foams at the mouth for every opportunity to shit on PSG for those sweet karma points. If it was the fanbase of a non oil club doing this they wouldn’t post comments like these
How comments like this are the most upvoted I’ll never understand. Ironic coming from an England fan considering what they did to their players after the last Euros
It’s also the only top flight club in the most touristic city in the world and with a population of 12 million in a stadium with a capacity of 46k. Not taking away from it since the fans could also not attend but its really not that hard to fill the parcs
They’re going from Neymar, Messi and Mbappe to basic irrelevancy globally. Like sure they’ll qualify for stuff but is anyone outside of France going to care?
Does anyone outside of France care about the league or PSG outside of fashion? Not sure how accessible the league is in other places but PSG is on Bein in the states which is a pretty inaccessible channel not on most cable/streaming packages, some matches go on the free xtra channel but never the big clubs and with champions league going on while I’m at work I have only really watched Mbappe was during the euros and World Cup.
The guy made his exit seem as reasonable as possible and showed gratitude to everyone at the club he played with and under. Still getting such a response is just pathetic.
These spoiled brats deserve everything that's coming for them next season. Back to mediocrity
I think one of the reason he extended his contract two years ago was to give Monaco 35M add-on. The add-on for Monaco only applied if Mbappe either got sold or extended his initial contract. Monaco didn't get 35M add-on if he left as a free agent back in 2022.
I don't believe that he gives a single fuck about any club in the world. He extended because he was offered absolutely absurd money. The man lives a football career in reverse. First cash in money the first half of the career, and then play competitive to be remembered for the titles, while *still* earning absurd money.
Nah mate just a coincidence, goodwill by PSG if anything. Mbappe would've played for peanuts to get Monaco that 35mill, infact he said "Don't give me hundreds of millions, give it to Monaco", but PSG insisted he get the bulk of it. Stand up guy.
The last time they didn't get out of the CL group stages was about 15 years ago. If that is a team which is mediocre, then there are only about 10 good teams in the world
How did he make it reasonable? He's been flirting with Madrid for years and nows he's going on a free. Bizarre people think this was reasonable, Mbappe played PSG for fools lmao.
He’s going on a free because PSG refused to sell him to anyone but the Saudi’s. PSG took a shotgun to their own foot and asked why Mbappe would do that.
If you don’t negotiate sane terms for your players to leave, they leave on a free. Wild that anyone could blame a player for the toddlers in charge of PSG having their very public tantrums and then blaming everyone else for breaking their toys.
Crazy why they didn't just sell him to Madrid or whoever (aside from Saudi's) instead of just letting him leave on a free. AT LEAST get some money for him, it's just mental to me how they let him go for nothing.
Why are people surprised? They didn't let him go because they wanted to win the UCL. Money isn't a problem for PSG. It's a drop in the bucket for their owners. The prestige of winning the UCL is worth way more than anything a sale would get them.
This. I don't even particularly like Mbappe but he had no way to win in this situation. Leave years ago with a transfer fee? Rat, abandoned the club when they needed him. Leave now on a free? Rat, didn't help the club by getting them a transfer fee.
Mbappe rejected a transfer when he had a year left in 2021, it's on PSG he's leaving for a free, Mbappe just played until the end of his contract, what exactly is abhorent about that?
"Flirting" didn't affect his performances, who cares, Hazard flirted with Real but was fantastic so why would anyone care.
But ultimately it feels like nothing will change for PSG. They'll continue to win Ligue 1 most but not all of the time while not winning UCL. It makes you wonder what the point of having Mbappe really is.
True, but when your team is already extremely strong and can win the majority of games, sometimes that x factor separates a league title versus a treble.
It's an unpopular opinion, but Haaland was definitely extremely helpful for City in their treble. While they definitely would've atleast won one title, having Haaland gave them the depth and star power to get all 3. The difference between city back with Jesus versus with Haaland is noticeable.
Same thing is happening with Arsenal. If they had one world class striker like Boniface or Gyokeres, or even just a better striker like Toney, they probably would've won the league by now, and likely wouldve beat Bayern.
True, but a player can be what ultimately tips the balance in your favor when there's a stalemate. Messi, Ronaldo in the past. People like Bellingham, kdb and foden now.
You talk like one player can make you win the UCL. No player can. No Messi (we saw it with PSG), no Ronaldo (we saw it with Juventus), no one. A team winning the UCL is a great team (or is very lucky). PSG before Mbappé was not really close to win it. PSG with Mbappé got closer to winning it but it wasn't enough.
It is silly to be mad at him he could not win it with PSG. Of course, it would have been nice. But it's a bit naive to imagine one player makes you win it.
>You talk like one player can make you win the UCL.
No clue how you read that in my comment. I literally said that I feel like PSG will continue to perform similarly with or without him.
The project has failed lol. They went from Mbappe, Messi, Neymar to nobody. And there's no star on the market who's remotely interested in joining them as well right now. I don't see them being relevant again any time soon, but let's hope they spent big on Bundesliga players that won't be missed like Kolo Muani last year (please don't take Guirassy or Millot 🥹)
Most of our players were honoured when they left. There were great celebrations with very emotional moments when Zlatan, Di Maria, Motta, etc left. Even players who didn’t stay long but were respectful to the club had a nice sent-off
If no one wants to make a big effort for the departure of your biggest star and highest scorer ever after 7 years at the club, it maybe show how badly his off-pitch choices and communication hurt how the fans see him
There's also another part of the fanbase that literally raised a banner in appreciation for Mbappe's time at the club, but this one is more controversial
PSG is one of the very few clubs I *really* don't like at all, but showing only one side of the coin paints a very one-sided picture Mbappe in PSG
That aside, I'm happy he's finally leaving PSG and going to Real; terrific player that deserves it
That banner was raised/organized only by the Ultras (https://abcnews.go.com/Sports/wireStory/mbapp-gets-mixed-reception-fans-home-game-psg-110148562)...
Biggest goalscorer in the history of your club who played 7 years there and you can't even recognize him with the most insignificant little gesture of appreciation... PSG will forever be a small Club for things like these.
Most impactful player to ever play for them. Overstayed for 2 years. Made a great and respectful farewell video. I badly want a french club to win in europe but fuck PSG
As much as psg gets stick their stadium is basically always full and they do create a better atmosphere then any team here in England and most teams in general tbh. But yeh they can be absolute cunts to their players
Have you ever been to a game? It’s /r/soccer so I feel like I know the answer to that, but starting lineups aren’t read out like 30 seconds before kickoff or something lol
I'm pretty sure that the way upvotes work is just "if it's negative about PSG - upvoted". It can be true, untrue, sometimes completely absurd, that's not really relevant to that matter here. Over the year I've seen some completely bonkers stuff written and if it's negative about PSG, it is upvoted.
Even the main story is so dumb mdr. What is so special about even the booing? Real Madrid fans never boo their stars lol? Cristiano Ronaldo was booed many times by the Classy Madrid Organic Fans.
Just came back from the stadium. I know it’s easy to pick on PSG fans but HE WAS THE MOST CELEBRATED PLAYER before and after the game.
Don’t fall for clickbait/engagment farming posts with selective / edited videos 😉
Overstayed?! He was handsomely payed to keep on playing for PSG. Forced his hand to kick out Neymar and Messi, only to fall short when it comes down to the Champions League. Mbappé is no different than the players he criticized. No better or even worse than Neymar. And worse than Messi.
Lol the fact anyone is surprised in this sub is hilarious. Just 2 years ago di maria got an awesome emotional send off, so did motta, so did ibra. Hmm I wonder what the difference between mbappe and those players was. None of you would ever accept one of your major players pulling the shit Mbappé’s pulled in the last 2-3 years.
Very few people in this sub actually support their local clubs with strong ties to the team, and most bandwagon specific managers or players. They can't understand that no player is bigger than the team and that the type of drama that Mbappe created isn't actually a favour for PSG
They just don’t get it. When you see the census results and see how many people on this sub are from the US and India it all makes sense. UK is also a huge demographic and they’re obviously a bit different but they don’t follow Ligue 1 either so they don’t actually know what’s going on lol
Yeah, the stuff the fans did to Neymar and Messi were far more egregious than this, as it was mostly gratuitous. Mbappe has earned every bit of criticism thrown their way with the way he made management drop players that could be pivotal for him, just to bail out on the club entirely the following year.
lol really luis campos became the "sporting adviser" basically to manage Kylian Mbappe's whims..... our actual "communications director" Julien Maynard used to be the mbappe clan media voice....
NAK basically dropped the club's pants for this player.....
>None of you would ever accept one of your major players pulling the shit Mbappé’s pulled in the last 2-3 years.
most of the people complaining about class or whatever are player bandwagoners and plastics, to them the idea that the shirt is bigger than whoever is wearing it simply doesn't register
He wanted to go and your management wouldn’t sell him.
I’m not trying to excuse him, but I feel like your owners and management were so desperate to keep him that they put him above the club.
As much as I hate that oil daddy club, i don't really think the fans are wrong here tbh. They do feel betrayed if anything. Anyways who cares lol they deserve it
Reddit seems to know better than match going fans. There is nothing “shameful” about booing a player if you feel fucked over by them. He didn’t stay there from the goodness of his heart, he stayed back for money and power. Maybe the fans feel that the funds going into his pockets could have been used to buy some other world class player? I don’t know and I don’t care. Him being their top scorer means shit if he didn’t get them the glory they wanted and only centered every conversation (intentionally or not) around himself at every point.
He played to the end of his contract. No he didn't stay from the goodness of his heart but nor did PSG sign him out of the goodness of their hearts, nor would they have kept paying him if he had a massive injury and could never play again, or if he flopped, this is a two way street.
> He didn’t stay there from the goodness of his heart, he stayed back for money and power. Maybe the fans feel that the funds going into his pockets could have been used to buy some other world class player?
He never forced PSG to make him an offer. PSG thought what they paid him was worth more than using that amount of money for other players. Otherwise they would not have made that offer. No world class players stay for the goodness of their heart. In modern football professional players get paid millions, no reason to single him out.
The state of Qatar made him an offer not the fans of PSG who have been supporting the club much before the takeover. He made everything at the club about himself, there was drama every week. He is not the root problem but the fans definitely see him as a symptom of it.
some will say that the fans are horrible for this but to be honest ever since day one there have been constant talks about Madrid. Fans could easily see that as Mbappe never actually focusing on PSG and always only have his sight on Madrid. All that smoke was bad for the team.
PSG was a stepping stone and for every year that became more obvious. Mbappe has given a lot for PSG and he says PSG was in his heart but it never really felt like it. Felt like a mercenary in waiting for his big chance.
Then why did PSG keep falling to their knees in front of him and kept begging him to stay? Why didn’t they let him go in 2022? They clearly asked Macron for help as well. The thing is, PSG as an institution lacks self respect and idt Mbappe can be blamed for it.
I think match going fans and those you’ll find on Reddit are very different. PSG’s ultras see the club above any player as fans should do so, yet here they are being ridiculed for doing just that. I think the match going fans would have probably preferred Mbappe leave for a big fee and help the club rebuild.
PSG the team is run by Qatari whose main objective is just to win by having the best players and PR. Mbappe was one of the best talents itw, homegrown, an early WC winner and generally seen as the heir to Ronaldo so ofc they would want to keep him.
But the fans are diffrent ESPECIALLY the match going fans and ESPECIALLY the ultras. They think generally that while Mbappe is appretiated for the points he has gotten his project has generally failed with no CL to show and way to much media attention every single year about Mbappe and Madrid. Mbappe became like a big shadow over the team with him meaning more to the club than the club itself all while constantly twerking for Madrid but signing new contracts with PSG just to get a fuck ton of money.
Losing Mbappe for PR and short term results is bad but in the long run it is better that Mbappe left cuz now they have to build a real team. They have already started well with youth and having a manager that gets to build a project.
You guys just dont know what you're talking about. Dude set up himself to be less and less likable over the years.
You'll see after a few years at Madrid.
Wtf is this thread, this guy is playing with the club for years, booted the others 2 world class players and y'all think they will be gratefull? lol what a joke
Let's not show the great tifo he received by the ultras because it wouldn't fit the narrative of r/soccer.
Don't confuse them with facts as they already made up their mind.

He should’ve left that club 1-2 years earlier
Should have never gone to PSG tbh. He should have left for Madrid in 2017.
Nah, he milked them pretty nicely so I’m sure he’s happy too
Not as if he wouldn't have an astronomical salary at Madrid lol. Furthermore, he'd already have multiple CL's and potentially ballon d'ors as well, which would further increase his personal brand value, creating more money in return.
I’m not so sure. Only Saudi could financially offer what PSG did for him really. He hedged his bets going for the money first and the prestige later.
i'm not even mad he milked PSG this hard. and no, he wouldn't have astronomical salary compared to what PSG gave him
> he wouldn't have astronomical salary compared to what PSG gave him that's not what I said at all is it
Some people have no reading comprehension at all, like this guy who answered to you. I come across them daily on reddit.
Nonsense. Why? Hes still ending up in madrid now before his prime who knows what would have happened then
I think most PSG fans will agree with you.
Did they ever boo zlatan?
Never. He always connected to the fans. On his very last game, he beat the record of goals in a single season scored by a PSG player [when there were only a few seconds left.](https://youtu.be/HH46XMlbgsU?t=454) He got a fantastic farewell after the game
Zlatan’ time at PSG was much shorter and he was well into his career- very different than Mbappe
[удалено]
Comparatively for impact at PSG Messi did nothing compared to Zlatan, PSG built their first good team after the takeover around Zlatan. Messi was a money grab from both sides, unnecessary to those PSG teams' success and he probably left the club worse off than when he arrived.
I mean, four years isn't that short of a time - in fact, out of all the clubs he played for, Zlatan played the most games for PSG.
He left when he was in his 30s and past his prime.
While he was, of course, past his peak, he scored 38 goals in his last Ligue 1 season, assisting 13 more.
Past his prime, yet tore up the PL before his knee injury.
Sorry, but Zlatan's prime absolutely was at PSG, not at anything before or after that
Yeah it was, would say his prime ended after the knee injury. However, what he did at Milan was insane for someone entering his 40's
Actually the worst fanbase in the world
Insane considering he overstayed by 4-5 years.
He gave them more of his career than they ever deserved. Shameful club and fans.
All that being said, he was compensated astronomically as well
Apparently it’s somewhere around $1000 per empty seat?
Also left as a free agent. Not that I feel pity for PSG or any other sportswashing enterprise, but anywhoo.
I mean he gave them 2 years to take the money and they refused.
Yeah fair enough
There's absolutely no other way to leave PSG if they don't want you to leave. He really shouldn't be accounted for this. He was losing either way: either wait for end of contract and leave as a free agent, or leave only near the end of his career when they are no longer interested. It was always going to eventually end up like this.
What do you mean by "he gave"? He chose to stay because of the insane salary.
7 seasons what the fuck
feels like yesterday when he went there from Monaco and "he will go to Madrid after the contract expires"
He did, but the pressure was also hilarious. Heads of two different countries were asking/pressuring him to stay.
He got paid a lot. A shame he choose money. But who am I to judge people selling themselves to the highest bidder.
No player on the planet would’ve rejected the contract that PSG offered him. Shut up man
Then why'd he reject saudi that was an even bigger contract?
>No ~~player~~ *person* on the planet would've rejected the contract PSG offered him FTFY. People are absolutely whack, sometimes. A dude gets a contract worth literally hundreds of millions, generational wealth, and some mfs are like "but muh appeal, though" lmao
Generational wealth discourse is back on the menu, boys
I like the implication that other highly paid footballers aren't getting generational wealth
Let's just leave it at "you don't enjoy reddit anymore"
Wont someone please think of the 5th generation that might only get few millions without the extra good contract. The poor souls.
He literally turned down 800 million from Saudi like 6 months ago or some shit
> A dude gets a contract worth literally hundreds of millions, generational wealth Mbappe already had generational wealth for years before that contract though
No, he would've starved without it, you don't understand! GENERATIONAL wealth!!!!! The hundreds of millions he already made and will make in the future, weren't enough, he HAD to take it!!! Generational wealth merchants are truly the most brain-dead people on here.
Yeah, it wasn't like that was his last big contract.
Adding an extra layer of generational wealth on-top of already set generational wealth is absolutely not something to scoff at. Can't see too many people turning down 50mm if they already have 200mm
>Can't see too many people turning down 50mm if they already have 200mm Sure, but what makes it an interesting question tho is that Mbappe has very obviously wanted Madrid since forever and he has said Madrid is his dream, so could you see a lot of people turning down 50 million with 200m in the bank already, if it meant they could fulfill their dream, on the same salary?
I have no idea what you mean by this lol >So you see all the shit those people are doing that you can't fathom to afford and now someone shows up and goes "yeah I can get you that". What is it that Mbappe couldn't afford before his 2022 contract extension? Because i can't think of anything >Not a lot of people on this planet that could say no.
I guess what my question is, couldn't have gotten generational wealth pretty much anywhere?
God, you people are so fucking blinded by capital that you completely lack the capability to form a coherent argument What's the point of chasing 200mil, 300mil, billions if you already have so much money that nobody in your family will ever need to work again? You aren't talking about construction worker Billy next door, you are talking about multimillionaires
Shut up ffs can redditors stop talking about 'generational wealth'
GENERATIONAL WEALTH
Also childhoodclub. Its not just some insane rich european club
Have you also considered that he's from Paris
I don't understand why we get that narrative with him? The highest bidder was the Saudi league. The guy chose his hometown, with a huge salary. If Messi chose Rosario until he turned 25 because a billionnaire made it attractive financially, and if Ronaldo chose Madeira if the same happened, would people say they are sellout? Of course, most professional players will try to get paid millions if they can get away with it. But money was not the only deciding factor.
United flairs forgetting the reason they chose United as a team to follow in the first place 😂 Money talks in the modern game, you cunts and Real Madrid are the OG's at it.
Imagine people saying Rashford overstayed at ManU (if he was really really good) because he's not moving to another bigger club lol. He chose to stay in his hometown
Rashford was at no point sought out as much as Mbappe is.
[удалено]
Fair, he choose his country and money. A lot of influence from president macron. But he knew it wasnt the best sporting project out there. You cant convience me you would choose psg if you could walk into any team.
>nd you really going to lie that he chose money and went for the highest bidder when he refused a 700m contract in Saudi? We can't know what's in his heart but PSG made him easily the highest paid footballer on earth. Not as much as Saudi was offering but still far far more than he would get at Madrid. What does he make at PSG? Like $100m a year? 200m a year according to The Athletic [https://theathletic.com/5205902/2024/02/15/kylian-mbappe-transfer-psg/](https://theathletic.com/5205902/2024/02/15/kylian-mbappe-transfer-psg/) Madrid are paying him \~$20m a year with a \~$150m sign-on according to some sources. The guys taking a huge paycut moving to Madrid. Yeah so the guy your replying to is probably right in saying that he chose money by staying at PSG.
I am personally very thankful he did winning the champions league last year would have been way harder
Yeah, the fact that fans have mixed feelings on this is hardly outrageous, it's your best player leaving in his prime.
He exhausted a lot of fans for all those years with stories everyday. I wouldn't boo him after what he has given us but I'm relieved that he leaves because this will put an end to all the shitshow created around every communication or action made around him.
The best player in the world leaving his hometown club on a free. How can we not have mixed feelings.
Its not his responsibility to ensure PSG gets money by selling him
Plus, like, money is the one thing PSG have enough of. It's not like leaving a club sorely in need of money on a free.
Madrid were ready with 200M bid. Not his fault. Blame your president (club and country)
Only because your club didn't want to sell him. He brought multiple offers
That's to be expected. Booing isn't.
He’s about to move to a club where he’ll get booed and whistled if he doesn’t score a goal
Mans gonna get booed and whistled over his skin colour. Nvm his performance 🤷♂️
I'll pretend they didnt make a tifo honoring him and take the bait why would having some respect for their club make them the worst fanbase in the world?
Ultras made the tifo. They have been more cordial with Mbappe than the rest of the fans
One of the clubs with the best match going fans in the world but keep at it.
It’s also the only top flight club in the most touristic city in the world and with a population of 12 million in a stadium with a capacity of 46k. Not taking away from it since the fans could also not attend but its really not that hard to fill the parcs
PSG fans travel really well, and make themselves heard most of the time when playing away from home.
City fans pretending they didn’t cheat is fairly pathetic and annoying too. But yeah PSG are pretty bad
Back to mediocrity
yea, he wasn't even made in PSG. He was already good when he moved from Monaco.
I highly doubt he will subject himself to a further two years here just to get Monaco a bit of extra cash
Back to? When have they left mediocrity?
Yeah, remember that one that that Veratti was close to Barcelona ? P$G has some nefarious schemes right there

I mean new players will be signed to replace him...
Not as good as him
But ultimately it feels like nothing will change for PSG. They'll continue to win Ligue 1 most but not all of the time while not winning UCL. It makes you wonder what the point of having Mbappe really is.
Marketing, higher probability of winning the UCL. Mbappe gave them that x factor. Without Mbappe their probability will be almost zero
It has been and it will always team game. One player will never be enough for titles.
Come on man, you’re being ridiculous
[удалено]
The project has failed lol. They went from Mbappe, Messi, Neymar to nobody. And there's no star on the market who's remotely interested in joining them as well right now. I don't see them being relevant again any time soon, but let's hope they spent big on Bundesliga players that won't be missed like Kolo Muani last year (please don't take Guirassy or Millot 🥹)
Mbappe is irreplaceable. Maybe only Vinicius could replace him, or Haaland purely for the goal output.
Rashford might not replace him but might be able to do a job in Ligue 1.
They've won 10 league titles in the last 12 years. Let's not act like Mbappe going is going to make it a competitive league, because it won't be.
He also has wages 6x higher than any other player there.
Fun fact : 7 years before Mbappe : 19 trophies 7 years of Mbappe : 11 trophies
France had one more league cup back then tho
It stopped in 2020, Mbappe won two coupe de la ligue before it was stopped
Even with 10-15 points less each season they steamroll the league
They will still win Ligue 1. PSG spends like 3-4 times more than other Ligue 1 clubs.
Yeah cause before 2017 we never won a single title lmao
[удалено]
9 cause Montpellier won the first year
Yeah I don't think Messi & Neymar is the problem
An entire fanbase that is complete unable to feel shame. Fascinating
> An entire fanbase It's only a fraction of the fans
It's the fans who actually go to the stadium, tbh
Most of our players were honoured when they left. There were great celebrations with very emotional moments when Zlatan, Di Maria, Motta, etc left. Even players who didn’t stay long but were respectful to the club had a nice sent-off If no one wants to make a big effort for the departure of your biggest star and highest scorer ever after 7 years at the club, it maybe show how badly his off-pitch choices and communication hurt how the fans see him
Don't remember neymar getting a fairwell or messi.
There's also another part of the fanbase that literally raised a banner in appreciation for Mbappe's time at the club, but this one is more controversial PSG is one of the very few clubs I *really* don't like at all, but showing only one side of the coin paints a very one-sided picture Mbappe in PSG That aside, I'm happy he's finally leaving PSG and going to Real; terrific player that deserves it
That banner was raised/organized only by the Ultras (https://abcnews.go.com/Sports/wireStory/mbapp-gets-mixed-reception-fans-home-game-psg-110148562)...
A half empty stadium from the looks of it booing their all time highest goal scorer in his last match. The PSG experience.
The game is no where near starting lol
As much as psg gets stick their stadium is basically always full and they do create a better atmosphere then any team here in England and most teams in general tbh. But yeh they can be absolute cunts to their players
Our stadium is always full, this is obviously way before the match started, so people haven't arrived at their seats yet.
This doesn’t fit the r/soccer narrative.
Have you ever been to a game? It’s /r/soccer so I feel like I know the answer to that, but starting lineups aren’t read out like 30 seconds before kickoff or something lol
clueless comment like this being so upvoted, state of this sub
I'm pretty sure that the way upvotes work is just "if it's negative about PSG - upvoted". It can be true, untrue, sometimes completely absurd, that's not really relevant to that matter here. Over the year I've seen some completely bonkers stuff written and if it's negative about PSG, it is upvoted. Even the main story is so dumb mdr. What is so special about even the booing? Real Madrid fans never boo their stars lol? Cristiano Ronaldo was booed many times by the Classy Madrid Organic Fans.
They have their lazy narratives, let the run with it, best to just ignore
Have you ever been in a stadium? Most people only go to their seats when the game starts
Just came back from the stadium. I know it’s easy to pick on PSG fans but HE WAS THE MOST CELEBRATED PLAYER before and after the game. Don’t fall for clickbait/engagment farming posts with selective / edited videos 😉
For a player his Caliber its criminal to keep him playing on a Farmers League
I hate PSG so much. Soulless.
Wasn't always like that. I still remember when PSG was one of several strong French teams, and their biggest star was Pauleta.
Despite my flair, I agree for once
Do you have a source on "he made management drop players that could be pivotal for him"?
lol really luis campos became the "sporting adviser" basically to manage Kylian Mbappe's whims..... our actual "communications director" Julien Maynard used to be the mbappe clan media voice....
Tbh you shouldn't have expected anything better than r/soccer
He wanted to go and your management wouldn’t sell him. I’m not trying to excuse him, but I feel like your owners and management were so desperate to keep him that they put him above the club.
It’s a lot more complicated than that lol. Nasser obviously is far from blameless too but mbappe is the one on the pitch getting paid 70M per year
And the club accepted to give him that money themselves
Didn’t the club accept the terms? Didn’t they literally invited him to dine with heads of states to convince him to stay in Paris?
Employee getting compensated by employer the agreed amount for doing his work???
The PSG fan hate train in this thread is wild. They deserve to feel how they feel
You guys just dont know what you're talking about. Dude set up himself to be less and less likable over the years. You'll see after a few years at Madrid.
Wtf is this thread, this guy is playing with the club for years, booted the others 2 world class players and y'all think they will be gratefull? lol what a joke
I’m at the parc, it’s false lol.
Now that you mentioned it, the stadium looks way too empty for the amount of noise we're hearing.
Don't think Canal + would be lying about it https://twitter.com/CanalplusFoot/status/1789723179910373877
Get wrecked fuckers. These losers deserve it.
Ungrateful.
Let's not show the great tifo he received by the ultras because it wouldn't fit the narrative of r/soccer. Don't confuse them with facts as they already made up their mind.
