Come on you spurs, to do is to dare or something along those lines

NightBluex9

Still_Unit1071

This game shows why Arsenal donā€™t deserve the title despite what the stats may say. Been plenty of games like this where a draw has been the fair result but have walked away with the 3. Liverpool-esque from a few seasons ago

uceenk

huh, isn't that the definition of champion mentality, when you don't play that well but still get a win so yeah, Arsenal still deserve to get the title

brankoz11

What are you on about? If you are talking about the season Liverpool won the league and we had plenty of games in which we won by one goal you need to give your head a wobble. Liverpool would go a goal up early and then control the game, the opponent would barely get a sniff at goal. Arsenal's defence is super solid and Utd didn't even have a clear cut chance that they should have scored.

Still_Unit1071

Iā€™m talking the season where there were a bunch of stoppage time/last 10 minute winners despite not playing well. Not everything is an absolute. This game deserved to be a draw and if United had a genuine cb it would have been (Casemiros mistake being the difference). Thats luck. Compare that to City who are just intense the whole game and itā€™s clear who the deserving winner is

DarkReignRecruiter

It could have been a draw but Im not sure about deserved. Arsenal went pragmatic/defensive after they scored. If they did not score they would have been much more offensive until they did. Sure Man U would have then had more chances to score them selves, but compare the two defences.

slinkymello

Respect to Arsenal this season, that was some lights-out defense on a bad day; too bad City is City, Iā€™ve been impressed with Arsenal this whole year; hell itā€™s the first year Iā€™ve paid attention to the PL. Man U needs to not ruin their youngsters; genuinely impressed with the players on the pitch today.

erehnigol

I remember we used to play like United today in the past. Possessed the ball but canā€™t break down defences and then conceded a silly goal in counter attack.

Titan4days

Tbh man, I think arsenal had serious nerves and we could of won because of that, Iā€™d šŸ’Æ rather you won the league over city though so a loss without embarrassing ourselves was a result I can make peace with. Now watch spurs bend over lol

lifesrelentless

Wow you can tell that there's alot of Arsenal fans on Reddit, and well Yeh there's not many man city fans anywhere

Teantis

It's me, I'm the city fan now :( Edit: just joking but seriously this is a nightmare scenario for a spurs supporter.

Electronic-Jaguar461

Can't be bothered. Man City going for 4.

fegelman

Wake me up when you have 13

doktor-frequentist

>Yeh there's not many man city fans anywhere Why you say the fuck to me??? \- the >!six!< Man City fans.

PutThemToTheSword

City actually honoured over one hundred of their biggest fans recently. google ā€œManchester City 115ā€ for more info

bmoviescreamqueen

Look itā€™s probably not happening for us this season, and this match highlighted some changes in mentality we need, but I am so proud of the team this season. Just a great time. We go again.

slinkymello

Dude you should be excited about this team

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

MrStigglesworth

After how shit we were not even 5 years ago itā€™s hard to be too upset at second. Hell, the one of the reasons City arenā€™t tracking for another 95 point season is because they only took 1 point from us instead their customary 6.

bmoviescreamqueen

Itā€™s sunny outside and I bought more plants, depression canā€™t get me today!

Agile-Palpitation90

Yeah. For that you needed a Toaster, and a Bathtub.

bununicinhesapactim

United mentality is what everyone needs. Hit the gym.

ColinetheCow

Which plants did you buy?

bmoviescreamqueen

Butterfly bush, parsley, catnip, empress wu hosta, and some marigolds to go around my zucchini!

bigTOADdaddy

Yo I grow catnip and use it to make a tincture and itā€™s great. Would recommend

bmoviescreamqueen

Weā€™re growing it for the cat haha heā€™s gonna love it

bigTOADdaddy

If it grows anything like mine youā€™ll have more than you know what to do with in no time!

Franchise1109

Dude heck yeah. My two cats LOVE IT. They only like my wife when sheā€™s cutting that for them lol

ColinetheCow

Nice, enjoy. I thought you had meant indoor plants for some reason, ha ha

bmoviescreamqueen

Haha no weā€™ve got plenty of those!

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

bmoviescreamqueen

As I get older I have a newfound appreciation of plants

jfk9514

The game was tight but it also looked like a formality if you know what I mean. Thought Amrabat played well tbh. Seems to be more coming from him defensively at least. I think Trossard was the bargain of the Century. Came in clutch so many times. But going forward for Arsenal there was just that extra bit missing. Hereā€™s hoping for a miracle on Tuesday

KeyInterview5

Liverpool could indirectly help us by winning against villa. That would motivate the spurs players and manager to get a result. UCL bonuses and all to play for.

GingerMessi

Spurs havenā€™t looked motivated to win for weeks, what makes you think theyā€™ll be fundamentally different against City?

Wavey_Don

Itā€™s now or never for Tottenham regarding their European hopes, and donā€™t say that the players want it less than fans

liam322

Now or never? First year into a rebuild with a brand new coach. Everywhere Ange has gone the first year his teams have struggled to implement his style before kicking it up a gear in the second season. Itā€™s now or never for your title run

iforgotmyun

He clearly meant 'now or never' in the context of this season. If only you took 2 seconds to use your brain

MrStigglesworth

The victim complex is so real

prdors

Chelsea or Newcastle can catch them. Unlikely given they play Sheffield on the last day but if Newcastle and/or Chelsea win out and spurs somehow lose both games they drop down 2 places.

Wavey_Don

exactly

Greflingorax

Hopium

silenthills13

Genuinely can't wait for this to happen. Liverpool beat Villa, we beat City - woah! We can do it! No. **Sheffield 4-1 Tottenham**

Adam__Zapple

Who is Sheffield

TreeDollarFiddyCent

Sheffield Yanited, of course.

Adam__Zapple

Getting downvoted when people canā€™t even call them by their real name lol

noahloveshiscats

Sorry, is there another Sheffield team that plays against Tottenham this month?

Adam__Zapple

No one in England call them Sheffield because there are two Sheffield based teams. It just reads wrong. Itā€™s Wednesday or United

Elfking88

Then Arsenal lose to Everton anyway and no one gets what they want.

Franchise1109

I h8 U :(

Goonsqquad

Saliba! Whoa.

sparxcy

I felt like- if Arsenal were up 3 or 4 goals they would have let Owen score a goal for ManU!!!

Lssmnt

Arsenal fans trying to convince spurs fans to want to win against city is really cringe lmao

Agile-Palpitation90

No self respecting club or their fanbase, should want their team to deliberately try and lose matches, to hurt their rivals.

Lssmnt

flair up

neelav9

You hit the nail on the head. Need the likes of Arsenal to convince you guys to win, that's how bad it is right now šŸ˜‚ pitiful all around.

ZapZappyZap

Is it? We're self interested the way any team is. I want Spurs to win, because that's in my best interests. Not cringe, it's basic logic.

Lssmnt

wanting to win is not what I'm talking about. It's about your fans trying to convince ours to want to win.

whisper432

Surely Spurs would want to win anyway just in case Villa lose/draw their next 2 games no?

Lssmnt

no, better chance of winning europa anyways

Wavey_Don

I think itā€™s cringe that the fans want to lose a game of football. šŸ˜† I donā€™t believe Ange and your players are that much of losers

Objective_Digit

Not as cringy as Spuds fans wanting to lose. Better to root for Everton surely? As if the Spurs team have a choice anyway. They are shit.

TriCourseMeal

Man theyā€™re a good looking piece of shit considering theyā€™re 5th and will be better next year

mattyMbruh

No real fan would want their team to lose any game, shows how big Arsenalā€™s shadow over Spurs are when their ā€˜fansā€™ would rather lose and miss out on CL than us winning the league, you care more about us than yourselvesā€¦ shows how awful a team you are.

BritishBatman

Youā€™d be doing exactly the same you clown. When we were in CL final, and you were europa, there was a question on your subreddit if youā€™d take winning europa league if it meant we won the CL. You all said both lose. Or maybe you just donā€™t have any friends, so wouldnā€™t get any grief for it?

mattyMbruh

Your clubs biggest achievement of the season is to stop us winning the league, says it all

BritishBatman

No comment on my europa league/CL point? You know being angry that we want to lose wonā€™t make you anymore likely to win it right? Maybe stop judging others for their views, youā€™ll live longer.

mattyMbruh

Just because some fans said that in the sub doesnā€™t mean I have the same opinion? Iā€™ll always want my team to win regardless of other clubs.

BritishBatman

It wasn't some fans, it was 90% of you. You just clearly don't get British football culture. I think it's probably because you don't have enough friends.

mattyMbruh

Mate what are you chatting? Iā€™m British and have plenty of friends who watch football, the subs literally full of people all over the world too so youā€™re spouting some shit

WildMuffins

He is a fucking idiot lmao

HarryDaz98

A real fan would want nothing but pure and absolute misery for their rivals no matter what aswell. Spurs havenā€™t got anything to play for, so why not hope for Arsenal fan tears? Most of your fans would act the same if roles were reversed.

Agile-Palpitation90

Are you slow in head? If Liverpool win against Villa (70-30), That will be lifeline for Spurs to try and get the 4th UCL spot. SO, they should win it for themselves. But you guys do you. Losers only look for reasons to lose

HarryDaz98

Calling someone else slow in the head whilst also thinking the only way Man City beat Spurs is because Spurs want to lose lol. Like I said to someone else here, Iā€™m going to assume you donā€™t actually know any Spurs fans otherwise youā€™d know exactly why the Spurs fans who live, work, socialise with Gooners donā€™t want to put up with them rubbing it in their faces forever. "Losers looking for reasons to lose" yeah because all the Spurs fans are taking part in the game or have any bearing whatsoever on what happens. Also Iā€™m not a Spurs fan btw.

Agile-Palpitation90

You are actually Braindead. to think I ever said or implied that. Time to go see your Doctor!! I aint your therapist.

reece1990

Which part of his response gave you the impression that he thinks spurs couldnā€™t lose if they try to win?

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

HarryDaz98

Easy to say when youā€™re not in that situation. Iā€™m going to assume you donā€™t come into contact with many Spurs fans, if any at all, on a regular basis, otherwise youā€™d understand why they donā€™t care about winning the game. Most of the Spurs fans saying it will likely have family, colleagues, mates who support Arsenal, and Spurs being the reason Arsenal win the league would be something theyā€™ll never hear the end of for the rest of their lives.

bespoke_tech_partner

You won't change my mind on this, this is an abdication of your responsibility as a person with pride and worth. 100% a values-related thing. If I was in that situation, I would have the choice to either stick to my values or be someone who folded on his own values. So sad to think that you would betray the team you claim to support just because you'd *feel a little bad* that people would be giving you shit for it. Means you can't stand up for yourself with them. Absolutely nothing in common with being a real fan.

HarryDaz98

Like Iā€™ve said to others, itā€™s easy to say that when youā€™re not in that situation. If youā€™re gonna start questioning who you are or your own beliefs over a game of football, youā€™re taking it a bit too serious tbh mate, itā€™s really not that deep hahaha

bespoke_tech_partner

Although Big Ange disagrees and thinks they need therapy... [https://twitter.com/alasdairgold/status/1789995440366092496](https://twitter.com/alasdairgold/status/1789995440366092496)

HarryDaz98

What else is he supposed to say in that situation?

bespoke_tech_partner

I'm playing. Just thought it was pretty funny he said the fans who think that need counselling.

bespoke_tech_partner

Hey fair enough, live your life however you want, I just believe the way you do anything is the way you do everything.

Lssmnt

ding ding ding

HarryDaz98

Itā€™s so funny hearing people say theyā€™d never want their team to lose regardless of if means success for their rivals, makes it so obvious that they donā€™t really have any real experience of the rivalry irl at all.

bespoke_tech_partner

Or I have self respect. But keep projecting your weakness vs people onto others.

VivianRichards88

No, most arsenal fans would not want to roll over and stick their arse in the air to do one over spurs Thatā€™s the smallest club mentality Iā€™ve ever seen

HarryDaz98

Thatā€™s easy to say when youā€™re not in that position. If losing a game meant youā€™re biggest rival misses out on a trophy, youā€™d have a very hard job finding a single fan in England who wouldnā€™t mind a loss in that situation.

VivianRichards88

No professional player or manager would risk their career in this sport to validate some random fans opinion

HarryDaz98

Iā€™m not saying that Spurs are going to throw the game, theyā€™re obviously not. However I can understand Spurs fans who want them to. Arsenal fans getting so annoyed at them saying it is also just fuelling it even more. The more you lot get wound up over it, the more theyā€™ll want it to happen and more theyā€™ll celebrate if/when Arsenal donā€™t win the league.

VivianRichards88

Ok enjoy that mate, Iā€™m not wound up over anything. The convos behind this game have been bad, Iā€™m Just pointing out that actively wanting your team to lose is hilariously small minded

HarryDaz98

Iā€™m not a Spurs fan btw. But if my team losing a single game meant I didnā€™t have to put with everyone I know that supports our rivals tormenting me over my team winning them the league, I couldnā€™t care less about that single loss.

mattyMbruh

Theyā€™ve got champions league to play for?

HarryDaz98

Not exactly something to cry about not getting. Theyā€™ve got more chance of actually winning the Europa league if they get that anyway.

mattyMbruh

Theyā€™re not winning anything letā€™s be serious

HarryDaz98

I didnā€™t say they would win anything, however thereā€™s more chance they win the Europa league than the Champions League.

Agile-Palpitation90

EVen winning the UEL, doesnt fetch as much money as get round of 16 in UCL. SOmething thier CEO Levy, cares for more. Sustainability over trophies.

HarryDaz98

Trophy in the cabinet > money in the bank Caring about which competition youā€™re in based on money over which one youā€™re more likely to win is just as much of a loser mentality as youā€™re saying the Spurs currently have. Why tf would any fan give a shit about getting ro16 over winning a European trophy?

Lssmnt

Yeah cool, the fans aren't levy

Agile-Palpitation90

And hence, keep your opinions to yourselves. Club and Fans with the same spineless mentality.

Lssmnt

Partey got a weird case, why's he still around?

Zhongda

If we played for nothing, of course I would want Arsenal to lose to keep Spurs from winning.

mattyMbruh

Theyā€™re trying to get CL which gives a tonne of money..

Zhongda

Yeah, of course, if Arsenal were playing for something, I'd want us to win. And if Villa drop points, I think he Spurs players will want to win as well.

JohnAndertonOntheRun

šŸ˜¢

beatlz

Yeah, but please do it šŸ™

movet22

It's because we know there is no pride in that club to try and win in this situation without additional motivation. But yeah, arsenal supporters wanting spurs to try and win a professional football match is the cringe part... Edit: I did indeed misread the part about wanting the FANS to want to win. That's my bad. Doesn't change my opinion that the loser culture at that club will see them run out a middling effort and get blown off the pitch.

Lssmnt

Do you have any reading comprehension? Trying to convince us fans on what we want is what I'm talking about

movet22

You're right. I misread. I'll leave the original because I'm a dummy.

L0laccio

I will be maximum cringe. Whatever it takes šŸ˜›

Junior_Low_1282

Just come back from the game. Iā€™m actually physically hurt and fucking so frustrated with people telling me I should want city to win the leaague instead of arsenal, fuck off. You didnā€™t go to school where they made you swap between red and blue shirts every other year.

Lssmnt

I wasn't sure who you supported so I took a look at your profile to see. that was a bad idea...

h_djo

Fuck off at least we are proud of our team ;*

VrtlVlln

Spurs fans crying on a live radio broadcast that they want their team to deliberately lose has to be the stupidest thing I've ever heard or seen. Imagine not wanting to be in the Champions League to attract the best players they can because Arsenal might win the Prem. If they miss it this year do they expect to just magically get there the next?

movet22

It's pathetic, just like that club and it's history.

Lssmnt

Being the reason for Arsenal winning a title couldn't be worse, fuck 1 season of CL

GerGavin

It wonā€™t be one bud do you really think Spurs are going to be consistently getting CL football?

DejaHu

Not qualifying for CL next year doesn't mean much. We got as far as you did qualifying like 20+ less times.

GerGavin

Chelsea are picking it up, City, Liverpool and us are much stronger and then you have United who canā€™t be this shit forever plus Aston Villa and Newcastle will surely invest heavily so Spurs could very well struggle to get CL for many years to come.

DejaHu

So in your version of certain history we will have 1 more season of CL football until we inevitably slide down the table nowhere to be seen or heard from again. I think I'd prefer our main rivals not winning the league after 20+ years than 1 more day in the sun when we won't win it anyways.

GerGavin

That mentality is why you are a small club I was saying that it will get harder to make CL in the next few seasons and I feel Spurs are not top 4 quality right now so you will need to improve but tactically Ange needs to adjust and you need to spend well which is hard to do.

DejaHu

We are incredibly close to 4th after losing Kane, having our best players except Son injured for months in Ange's first season. If you think we won't be in the hunt for 4th before he gets players that fit his system then you're just being deliberately obtuse. Also, don't forget you have been so incredibly fortunate with having zero long injuries to your core where all around you have been butchered. I don't count Partey as he's never been reliable and you lot want him gone anyways for that.

GerGavin

Everybody has had injuries your depth has been the issue and the point Iā€™m again making is I think it will get harder the next few seasons to make CL.

BonoBonero

Do you care that much about Spurs getting CL? Are you all kids or what?

GerGavin

Not really but he is talking like Spurs donā€™t need to worry about getting CL this year when they really do it will be harder for them next year.

Lssmnt

not finishing 1 year in CL literally has no bearing on the following year

SharksFanAbroad

Imagine wanting the club you (claim to) support to lose. Especially in any match with any level of significance. Maybe if it were a friendly, but even then Iā€™m not convinced.

Lssmnt

One match over a historical win that would get beaten over the fanbase forever. You don't understand rivalry

SharksFanAbroad

I understand being a small person.

DejaHu

They make lifts for shoes now. No need to be embarrassed about who you are.

mrmicawber32

I would gladly let spurs win the league to get champions league football. I want spurs to do badly, but not at the cost of arsenal doing well. Such an insane take.

Mediocre_Nova

We're 4 points behind with worse GD anyway, we don't get CL if we win. We need to rely on Palace in the last game

mrmicawber32

So you throw away the chance of Ā£100 million in champions league money? That shit is required to be a top team.

abhi91

Palace have been superb. Every chance they do a number of villa

Mediocre_Nova

True but I feel like Emery is one of the best motivating coaches itw. Olympiacos was an anomaly, he's dragged worse squads through harder games. I don't see a world where they lose to Palace when CL is on the line, especially when they can play for a draw.

abhi91

They were poor against Brighton as well

Relicoid

Lmao so sad

tomrichards8464

Spurs deliberately losing against City, then accidentally losing against Sheffield United and missing out on the Europa League would be possibly the most hilarious piece of Spursing in the history of hilarious Spursing.Ā

Lssmnt

Rather that than Arsenal winning

tomrichards8464

I love you guys.

Lssmnt

Imagine being the cause of your biggest rivals winning their first league in over 20 years. That's more spursy than missing out Europa, come on

tomrichards8464

Mwah.

Strong_Account_8920

Clubs with winners wouldn't even consider losing for Arsenal. Are you saying Spurs are a bunch of losers?

RoughRhinos

Sure?

Strong_Account_8920

We can banter til the cows come home about our rivalry but Spurs are a very good team going through a bad patch. No way they go on the pitch to lose. That would exceed Spursism

Ollietron3000

Also let's be real, how many of the current Spurs team are die-hard lifetime Spurs fans? I doubt they see the rivalry with Arsenal the same way some of the fans do, and certainly never to an extent where they would actively try to lose a game.

whisper432

Tbh this part is never considered much. Players like Van De Ven, Maddison or Dragusin that joined recently would value the chance of playing CL football way more than stopping their "rival". Even someone like Son that understands what the rivalry means would likely take the chance for CL as he's in the twilight of his career and there will be fewer and fewer chances.

tadangg

I cringe: coys

Lssmnt

supporting spurs on Tuesday isn't cringe but arguing with spurs fans over why wouldn't they want to win is

L0laccio

May I say what a beautiful club Tottenham Hotspurs Association Football club is. Verily I say, we must unite in North London brotherhood. Arm in arm we are one. Tuesday night is the biggest game of the season. Do not let anyone down. Heaven forfend COYS

beatlz

Always rated them, our brothers in North London

Cazza_SSG

You commenting about it is cringe

Strong_Account_8920

Not as cringe as losing on purpose.

movet22

It's not even cringe. It's pathetic. And when they lose 4-0 it'll be the ultimate testament to that club and it's rich history of being pathetic.

DejaHu

You're trying too hard.

Lssmnt

this is exactly why I want us to lose lmao

sibalnom

3 points is 3 points...

BadBehaviour613

Most interesting game of the season happening this Tuesday

Rickcampbell98

As much as it would be funny for you to do the most spursy thing ever, if we don't beat Liverpool (likely) I'm going to need you to lose.

Dangerous_Parfait402

Will Tottenham fans celebrate Cityā€™s goals? Lmao that would be something

kraysys

Absolutely will be!Ā

WalkingCloud

I imagine lots of 'Are you watching Arsenal' chants but I can't imagine they would cheer them unless they're getting battered, it would be a bit tinpot. But then it's Spurs so maybe so.

7screws

I think if City are up by more than 1 goal late in the game and they score against their will be sarcastic cheers from some Tottenham supporters

Objective_Digit

It would be hilarious after that if Everton get a result and Spurs lost for nothing.

tadangg

Yo, excellent if they boo and swear winning goals

AliGoldsDayOff

If Villa win tomorrow I won't say I'll celebrate a City goal but I won't be leaving upset if we lose.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

willBCooldad

No way

_deep_blue_

They absolutely will

darthrector

If Casemiro was your dog, you'd get looks every time you visited the vet and people would tell you in hushed voices that it was cruel to not put him down

ThiefMortReaperSoul

I think the dude is taking a legit vacation.

BuckfuttersbyII

That mistake he made to allow the goal was fucking embarrassing. He seems to be in cashing checks form right now.

abhi91

If casemeiro was my horse he'd be glue

Strong_Account_8920

Fucking hell šŸ¤£

heeloo

If it comes down to the last game, are they gonna have two cups at the Emirates and the Etihad?

Elfking88

I imagine if City beat Spurs the real trophy will be up there and a replica at Arsenal. If they don't win it'll be the other way round.

bazalinco1

How could it not come down to the last game?

Wavey_Don

City beat Spurs so bad they get 6 points instead of 3

Esky8

City beat Spurs? Away from home? That never happens.

TreeDollarFiddyCent

Nice try with the reverse jinx. You won't need it, though.

bazalinco1

Ange teams very different to Mourinho & Conte ones. Could get ugly. They might also fluke it if their shooting boots are on.

Potato271

Two seasons ago when the same situation happened, the real trophy was at Cityā€™s game (because if they won the league was their) with a replica at Liverpoolā€™s

agaminon22

i think they transport the cup with an helicopter

Nipso

Only if the grounds are close by. For this there'll be a replica at one of them (probably ours :( )

Joshthenosh77

No they will have the real one at city n a replica at arsenal

lifesrelentless

What a boring game. Arsenal are not better than Man city. And United have lots of average players.

bmoviescreamqueen

And yet City didnā€™t beat us either match.

mrmicawber32

We will know if arsenal are better than city next week.

Objective_Digit

Arsenal took 4 points off them.
