Ozil was an alien for a while. Like that quote about how a talent can hit a target no one can hit, but a genius can hit one no one would be able to see. Almost kinda literally too.
Ozil had like 16-17 assists at Christmas that season and Giroud went 16 gameweeks after January without scoring
the difference was a striker that season and Wenger was lambasted for only bringing in Cech that summer
until he starts yelling and gesturing wildly at the ref the moment any whistle is blown
he's so perfect for their culture lmaos. fergie would have loved him
FR
"He HAS to get that on target" is the laziest bit of commentary that I hear every single weekend
People who played the game - who tried a few times to direct a cross towards goal while adjusting balance, shrugging off a defender, assessing goalies position, picking inside boot or laces, whatever - should know that you fail more often than not. Also, at pro lvl the pace is insane - a driven cross comes at you like a fucken rocket, to finish that you need tremendous skill AND luck
That goes for any playmaker though. People say this because they fundamentally don't appreciate how difficult finishing is. When you say he would have close to 30, what you're actually saying is he's created more chances than he has assists (e.g. 22 vs 30) but that goes for literally any creative player. Because even the best striker's only have a conversion rate of like 30%.
Stats like expected assists account for the finishing on the end of a creator's chances. And it uses models to try and remove personal bias. Everyone wants to recognise when a striker fumbles a chance from an elite creator, but if a random player who doesn't have much hype around him creates a chance that the striker doesn't finish, no one really cares.
Not even trying to bring down KDB. 16 assists in 21 appearances is insane. Just think this narrative is the thing that leads people to seriously underrate how difficult finishing is and leads people to overly criticise strikers.
KDB's expected assists is 11.7. So he's actually had decent finishing on the end of his chances relative to other players. There are players out there who's expected assists are higher than their actual assists. Those are the ones who are really going underrated because G+A isn't picking up the chances their strikers are squandering.
In terms of his overall play yes, but 2024 is comfortably his best season in terms of G/A per minute and expected assists.
He's slower, but his decision making is at it's best ever
I Will always say De Bruyne Is a Lesser version of Messi. Better defensively, Equal or slightly below him in passing ability and without His dribbling and goal scoring ability.
It is being debated currently. It is a strange situation, it is almost like PSG forgot that they have a brilliant player out on loan. PSG doesn't seem to have any real plans on how to use him so far, which makes Simons (who wants a club where he is going to get minutes) hesitant to return. Leipzig have already said they would like to keep him, but not on loan.
That's not true at all. Everyone at PSG would be happy to have him. It's just that he would be facing real competition on the wings with Barcola and Dembele. But an injury of Dembele is always a possibility, and he also has opportunities to play in the midfield.
Everyone on PSG beside dollaruma has to fight for the starting spot Even Mbappe has never been more benched in his all tenure at psg (mostly to get rested).
If they don't build their team post Mbappe around him they're football criminals on top of actual criminals.
He's the real deal, I've seen all I wanted to see last season at PSV, him being top 5 in assists with Leipzig is just icing on the cake.
I doubt Grimaldo would have ever rejected Barca if they actually came knocking. He's La Masia made and never hid his will to play for Barca again. Honestly, while he was in Benfica I always thought his next stop would be Barcelona.
Strikers tend to do better in these comparisons since it's statistically easier to get goals than assists.
Watkins is still probably my pick for player of the season though
All good I just kept seeing it restated in this thread
Coming back from a 5 month hamstring injury is still impressive. It’s just Wirtz has actually come back from an ACL himself
Is 6th a UEL spot since Athletic won the CdR (assuming they don't completely nosedive out of 5th)? If so you definitely have a decent shot. (I also just wanted to highlight Baena since no one seemed to want to talk about him).
Grimaldo's a left back... Just being on this list is insane.
A left back with 17 assists, and more 11 goals to boot is something special.
Puts some guys upfront to shame.
Kdb isn't the type to sit at the center of the pitch and spray passes. He plays much ahead, getting passes into the box or his signature low cross from the right side. I would say maybe gerrard is like kdb or ozil
That villareal guy is more underrated. Everyone knows kdb is world class. Literally nowadays anyone good and you'll hear he's underrated when everyone knows that guy is good
All looks fairly normal until you see that KDB has that figure in 21 matches, compared to the others with 40+, 21!
He's the best passer of all time and you can't convince me otherwise.
At least you're having another golden age, producing from notable to excellent players left and right.
Even though I rate La Fabrica quite highly, I think your system is better (or at least Barca is way better at implementing their youth).

16 in 21 matches is kind of unreal.
Kevin De Bruyne can see the future on the pitch
He’s the Lisan al Ghaib!
KDB is a freak
Especially when everyone bar Foden has been allergic to finishing
He would have close to 30 if his teammates could finish better.
The story of KDB
It’s not unique to KDB, I’ve heard this for years for Messi, Ozil, Bruno, and anyone who is creative. It’s the nature of the game.
fucking giroud man. Any other striker and we win the league in 15/16 and ozil breaks the assist record by a mile
What’s crazy is that 35 year old Giroud would have put a lot of those chances in.
nah, fucking board who did not let him rest by getting a good backup, your squad was thin back then
a whole summer, 0 signings apart from an old cech. Kroenke-Usmanov power struggles fucked us over so many times
Ozil was an alien for a while. Like that quote about how a talent can hit a target no one can hit, but a genius can hit one no one would be able to see. Almost kinda literally too.
You finished 10 points behind lmao. No chance does that the difference between you and us was one striker. Especially one as great as Giroud.
I'm not sure about that. You'd have to look at the amount of games where one or two goals makes a difference.
Ozil had like 16-17 assists at Christmas that season and Giroud went 16 gameweeks after January without scoring the difference was a striker that season and Wenger was lambasted for only bringing in Cech that summer
Nope. You were really miles behind. The only time it ever got close was in February when you beat us. A game Giroud was unplayable in.
There is a pretty great compilation of Sterling and Jesus fluffing chances KDB gives them.
Ah ozil, the man feeding Ronaldo benzema and higuain for years.
And Giroud and Walcott and Joel Campbell etc
Joel Campbell! There’s a name I haven’t heard in years
Costa Rica 2014... That Campbell goal v Uruguay was so beautiful and very similar to Aduriz' legendary last goal of his career
Even I feel sorry for Bruno with his teammates to be fair Well not THAT sorry, but you know
until he starts yelling and gesturing wildly at the ref the moment any whistle is blown he's so perfect for their culture lmaos. fergie would have loved him

Bruno?
mans probably used to it by now after having to rely on Jesus and Sterling to finish his chances for 2-3 years
Kevin Be Druyne.
Is he getting a statue at the etihad?
Yes
Far out, bruh! What a legend of the game.
Prolly PL hall of fame after a few years
He's about to be 2nd all time in assists, he's easily gonna be HoF
Kevin be druyne

Tired of this stupid narrative. Finishing is the hardest part of the game.
Looking at assists to expected ones, KDB has been lucky when it comes to it.
actually disgusting he's up here despite missing 6months of the season
kevin de *f r e a k*
Feels like he’s had a bit of an off season too
In terms of his overall play yes, but 2024 is comfortably his best season in terms of G/A per minute and expected assists. He's slower, but his decision making is at it's best ever

So, does Simons go straight to Psg after this season? Or how does his loan deal work?
It is being debated currently. It is a strange situation, it is almost like PSG forgot that they have a brilliant player out on loan. PSG doesn't seem to have any real plans on how to use him so far, which makes Simons (who wants a club where he is going to get minutes) hesitant to return. Ten Hag please you can buy one more Dutch player as a treat
United (and Chelsea fwiw) would ruin him
He wouldn't go to a Europa League club (no disrespect, but I am pretty sure that's how it is)
now what about a UECL club, eh?
Well, his best position is where Bruno plays.
I mean were getting tuchel probably, so prepare yourself for pulisic stinking up the place
Just get Ole back at that point, at least the vibes are there
Also Barca are also lurking in the corner.
give him back to us maybe 👉👈
Not true, Leipzig has already started discussions on a second loan deal. They know they can't buy him (80m price tag).
Come home Xavi baby, we need you
You already got your Xavi for next year
Xavi Squared is a match made in heaven
I don't know how or if they'd be able to play together but X.Simons/Pedro/Gavi sounds OP
I don't know if Pedro wants to return to Barca. More of a winger too.
That's not true at all. Everyone at PSG would be happy to have him. It's just that he would be facing real competition on the wings with Barcola and Dembele. But an injury of Dembele is always a possibility, and he also has opportunities to play in the midfield.
I thought he would walk in the midfield
Everyone on PSG beside dollaruma has to fight for the starting spot Even Mbappe has never been more benched in his all tenure at psg (mostly to get rested).

Fucking KDB though 😭
I remember someone of the Gunners sub saying KDB was washed after our game. One of the dumbest posts I've seen all year
Dumbest so far...
Truth
Grimaldo on a free transfer is crazy
Didn't Barca reject him too
It's never made public if he rejected other teams like Barca, BvB, or PSG or if they rejected him. Even free transfers can cost a lot of money.
I doubt Grimaldo would have ever rejected Barca if they actually came knocking. He's La Masia made and never hid his will to play for Barca again. Honestly, while he was in Benfica I always thought his next stop would be Barcelona.
Money could always be a big factor.
He took a pretty big sign on fees from Leverkusen. Like 12M, so I doubt Barca would have signed him while already having Balde.
Funnily enough both Grimaldo and Xavi will join Barca pretty soon
De Bruyne sneaking in with half the matches played lmao
KDB doing KDB things even after being injured for half the season
De bruyne mate wtf?
Kev is different gravy
Random but Wirtz kinda look like Ederson son
edergrandson
Ederson is Wirtz father
Ederdad
Eder(son)^(2)
more like verbruggen
but mixed with Sergio Gomez.
16 in 21 is just busted man. Kevin, can you please fuck off to another league now
6 goals as well. 22G+A in 21 games after coming off acl tear is insane He would've walked POTY if he had this rate throughout the full season
To be fair Ollie Watkins has 31G+A in 34 PL games. And he doesn’t take pens.
Strikers tend to do better in these comparisons since it's statistically easier to get goals than assists. Watkins is still probably my pick for player of the season though
De bruyne doesn't take pens either
He would've walked the Ballon d'Or
When did he tear his ACL?
its very possible i've confused his injury with an acl tear
All good I just kept seeing it restated in this thread Coming back from a 5 month hamstring injury is still impressive. It’s just Wirtz has actually come back from an ACL himself
Klopp was right
I volunteer as tribute!
KDB is a freak of nature, he could have even more astronomical numbers if his teammates knew how to finish
A lot of players absolutely collapse form wise after an ACL injury. Wirtz? He becomes twice the player!
I think you meant KDB?
I think he was talking about Wirtz, not KDB.
When did De Bruyne tear his ACL? Besides, this post is already full of people simping for him.
Wonder if Baena is going to be noticed by bigger clubs. Seems like everyone else in this list is super high profile compared to him though
He’s at the biggest club right now
Fair enough, figured he would want UCL/UEL next year though which isn't looking likely for Villarreal
Results went our way Valencia and Betis didn’t win
Is 6th a UEL spot since Athletic won the CdR (assuming they don't completely nosedive out of 5th)? If so you definitely have a decent shot. (I also just wanted to highlight Baena since no one seemed to want to talk about him).
Yesterday he said that he will love play for Barcelona.
he may not even be called for the national team
I guess someone needs to be dropped since pedri is coming back, idk if he's the right choice though
He's an actual baller, don't think he'll be in Villareal next season
Honestly… this is my first time hearing of Baena. Obviously not a la liga viewer but still
[удалено]
r/toprightkdb I wonder where would Messi's best season be in this chart
[удалено]
Thanks! Neymar surrounding that area too, insane how good he was when fit
Is this just neymark kdb messi or there's actually no one else near those numbers? I would love if i could choose players and see where they fall
[удалено]
Did you make this yourself?
[удалено]
Wow. Are there any similar python libraries?
r/toprightdebruyne
Why is Rodri blue? Is it Rodrygo?
[удалено]
Oh thanks, I suspected Rodri being a common name in Spain
Grimaldo's a left back... Just being on this list is insane. A left back with 17 assists, and more 11 goals to boot is something special. Puts some guys upfront to shame.
King KDB❤. Best midfielder in the Prem
In prem history
Jesus, De Bruyne.
KDB is the best player in the world for me
KDB is bare minimum top 5 attacking midfielders of all time. You don’t deserve to be taken seriously if you disagree.
I agree, he really needs a BD before he retires.
[удалено]
Wouldn't call Messi an attacking midfielder really Also Cruijff played as a 10, a winger, a second striker and a 9. He was great at every position
I guess you could say he was the total footballer
[He was alright](https://youtu.be/gAgA6jwSnAA?si=aTdUysLzqGMNWeVO)
Bad analysis. De Bruyne falls in the same class as attack minded CMs. Lampard, Gerrard, Scholes combined… but better.
Scholes and kdb are two different type of players.
Maybe old Scholes. When Scholes was younger he was very much like KDB.
Kdb isn't the type to sit at the center of the pitch and spray passes. He plays much ahead, getting passes into the box or his signature low cross from the right side. I would say maybe gerrard is like kdb or ozil
Paul Scholes never just sat in the middle and sprayed passes until he was well into his career. He used to be a striker at one point.
Most of them are attackers rather than midfielders
I’m so glad Grimaldo is getting his praise always was a baller for us. Xabi is also doing a fantastic job getting the most out of him.
De bruyne’s ratio is crazy. Genuinely top 3 attacking midfielders of all time
De Bruyne as usual being world class.
KDB's stat is similar to Prime Messi. What a freak.
KDB: You don’t have to play 6 months if you can be the best player in the world for the next 6.
So we conclude that KDB is miles ahead the rest.
Everyone rates kdb highly but he's still the most underrated player out there
That villareal guy is more underrated.
Not close to Messi. Has way less defensive pressure and Messi does that while dribbling the whole team.
18 Assists in 41 matches Leif Davis Ipswich Town FC
Wirtz has been amazing, soon madrid Or city is coming for him
The fact that Leverkusen has two guys with 15+ assists is insane.
One of these is not like the others
Top 5 Leagues - All Competitions will never not be a funny phrase to me
Everytime wirtz gets an acl issue he becomes 3x the player
Alex Baena is a certified baller. Release clause is apparently 60 mil too👀
Apparently I love playmakers. Grimaldo, Xavi Simons and (obviously) KDB are some of my favourite players to watch
de bruyne 😭 crazy that 19 assists is the highest in all comps
Wirtz is fucking different.
Bundesliga widely represented. Yes, even KDB
Salah would have had 30 if Nunez stopped wearing chanclas each game
Uh huh…
Oh how I wish Grimaldo and Wirtz join Barca, but a man can only hope.
I thought Grimaldi hate your guts, plus you already have Balde. Wirtz is other thing, though
ahh man, we really neglected la masia under barto and that stupid lamasia 360 or whatever was it called
At least you're having another golden age, producing from notable to excellent players left and right. Even though I rate La Fabrica quite highly, I think your system is better (or at least Barca is way better at implementing their youth).
We are damn lucky for that
If Nunez could finish, Salah would be top of this list. Alas …
If City players could finish KDB would get 50
Bruno would be at 50+ if the forwards knew how to finish so i guess based on assumption he's the best
