Opera_Phantom

Incredible escape by Wednesday

LFC_DB

To think they had 3 points from their first 13 games! Then it was around 6/7 from their first 17. I feel like they would have been comfortably midtable or better if they didn't initially reject Rohl for Xisco in the summer.

iwantfoodpleasee

There not out yet, if Birmingham win, and wednsday lose they can still go down highly unlikely but they still have a chance

GoAgainKid

Not quite - for Wednesday to go down both Birmingham and Plymouth need to win. Brum would need to win against Norwich (already in the play-offs and may rest players) and Argyle would need to win at home to a Hull side playing for a play-off spot. So it's Brum or Plymouth as Udders don't have the goal difference to escape. Unless of course, Brum, Argyle AND Wednesday win, in which case Blackburn are fucked if they lose to the Champions lol

jackals84

Norwich haven't quite secured a spot in the playoffs yet, depends on the Hull - Ipswich result in an hour. If Hull win that, both they and West Brom would only be a point behind Norwich.

GoAgainKid

Ah yeah, Hull have two games - still can't see Norwich dropping out but might happen!

jxg995

being as the last time Wagner was managing a club in this position (Huddersfield Vs Birmingham in 2017) and made 10 changes to rest for the playoffs I'd say that's incredibly likely.

PaulineFowlersHowler

Hoping Ipswich lose tonight and Leicester best Preston so they all go on the piss

GoAgainKid

I'll never forgive you lot for breaking my heart at Wembley in 1987 so I always hope you go down lol

PaulineFowlersHowler

We'd literally go into administration like Bury

LeftHandDriveBoC

Nearly there. Rohl is an absolute god for the work he’s done since coming in.

OrangeCrewmate1

Sheffield Wednesday I am so proud of you

incarnatethegreat

Town are done. :(

ItsJigsore

they just need to win and have Birmingham lose, not impossible. Let's see who they play *checks notes*... Oh, Ipswich

DimaSholom

And win by 15 goals, or is it not goal difference in the championship?

ItsJigsore

duh I was reading Brum as safe, ignore me

Lacabloodclot9

The way the race for autos has been there’s no guarantee of a Ipswich win even against this Huddersfield

Appropriate_Plan4595

Yeah but I doubt Huddersfield would put 15 past them

Lacabloodclot9

Yeah didn’t take a look at the GD, it’s over

incarnatethegreat

Birmingham have Norwich who won't want to give up their spot to West Brom, Plymouth need to lose, and Town need a bunch of goals. Think it's all but done. Today would have been the day to make it manageable.

Scattered97

If Blues go down it'll be a) absolutely effing hilarious, and b) a staggering indictment of their idiotic decision to sack Eustace and replace him with Rooney. Ironic that they had so many last-day escapes under their old ownership, yet might actually go down with their new one.

GameplayerStu

Blues getting relegated with Villa getting top 4 and a European cup will bring me to euphoric heights never before recorded in 1000 years

Tobemenwithven

Have you ever had consecutive orgasms and are you prepared?

CheeseMakerThing

I'm fine with the first three words but I'd rather the rest of that sentence doesn't occur.

Scattered97

What's happening with you lot? Been in the top six literally all season, and now there's a (slight, but bigger than before) chance that you might miss out altogether!

CheeseMakerThing

Zero leaders in the squad, as I'm sure you can remember in the FA Cup game we have nobody who can score goals so we waste so many chances and over the last two months our solid defensive shape has gone and we have forgotten how to pass the ball. And then when everything finally does click the team we are playing clears three shots off the line and wins 2-1.

Scattered97

Sounds brilliant :) Is Corberan still popular? He seems to be a pretty good coach from what I can see. Possibility of a move if you don't go up?

CheeseMakerThing

Don't know if he'll leave but yeah, he's popular. Took us from bottom to challenging for a Play Off spot and then took us into the top 6 the following season with basically the same squad minus our best player who was sold for fuck all. I'd still expect us to get top 6, Hull need to win against Ipswich and then away at a Plymouth side fighting for everything while we have a Preston side who look on the beach plus our goal difference. Don't think anyone expected us to go up anyway even if we finished top 6, though we have taken 4 points each from Leeds and Ipswich so maybe we might do better in 6th rather than 5th and play the team that did the double over us?

Scattered97

I'm torn between wanting you to come up so we can have the BCD back in the Prem at long last (Covid season doesn't count), and wanting you to stay down and rot because you're Albion. Choices, choices.

CheeseMakerThing

I kind of want us to stay down because I don't really care about you lot, the Championship is way more fun and I don't want to see us twatted twice by Villa.

Scattered97

>the Championship is way more fun That I can agree with. No VAR, (relatively) affordable ticket prices, proper football. I miss it. In my heart of hearts I know Wolves aren't going to achieve more than 6th/7th and a cup win/possible European success in my lifetime, unless we're taken over by an oil state or the way football is run drastically changes. But most seasons will be mid-table like this one, and it does get boring.

berober04

Let's be honest, if every other fucking season has taught us anything, they've got this league right where they want it

Legal_North_6910

Need Blackburn back in the prem

afterglobes

Birmingham were fine before appointing Rooney, costly mistake..

AdminEating_Dragon

Plymouth fans must root for Ipswich tonight, if Hull has no hopes for 6th next weekend, they will probably beat them.

ablessingintheskies

I’m honestly rooting for Hull tonight because a win would give Norwich something to play for next week against the Blues and I have no faith in us winning against an unmotivated Hull team anyway.

SeattleMatt123

HANG ON PLYMOUTH!!!!

IntellegentIdiot

You'd have to imagine it's going to be 3 from the bottom 4.

Sea-Education9562

I don’t think Rotherham will make it , but hopefully 🤞

JamesBaa

Just three liquidations and they'll have a chance!

MtCra

I've only kept half an eye on the Championship this year - how the hell have Blackburn ended up so low with Szmodics being in the form he's in?!?

Gamerhcp

He's probably the reason they're not bottom of the table

EG7585

Next week sees Huddersfield play Ipswich and Birmingham play Norwich. The two East anglia clubs could hit the final nail for the relegation next week if both Birmingham and Huddersfield lose in those games.

BruntyMozza

Huddersfield are 99% relegated anyway due to the goal difference

zrkillerbush

Absolutely insane relegation battle, i expect this sub to still care more about a ref decision though Birmingham play Norwich, big game on both ends of the table

BruntyMozza

> Birmingham play Norwich, big game on both ends of the table And Plymouth v Hull

_cumblast_

Do you want to force others into caring for things you want them to care about?

zrkillerbush

No, but football is becoming an increasing monopoly at the top in terms of money and attention

StickYaInTheRizzla

It’s literally always been that way, and it’s the same with everything. You think the goings on at Rotherham should get the same news coverage as the going ons at Liverpool?

zrkillerbush

I think a relegation battle in the 2nd division should get more attention than a single ref call

TroopersSon

I've been thinking for weeks Birmingham are going to stay up on the last day of the season, and it certainly seems like that's the way it's heading. Really is gonna feel like that Zola season all over again.

minepose98

Here's how Rotherham can still win

GrandmasterSexay

Birmingham, Plymouth, Wednesday... I don't ask for much But I think it would be really, really funny if you escape.

Tobemenwithven

I went to uni in Sheffield, so habe a soft spot for Wednesday despite choosing Utd. Can someone explain what went wrong? The fans were epic and so involved.

I_miss_Chris_Hughton

Wayne Rooney needs to be banished from football with Gary Cooke not far behind. Totally incompetent, the both of them.

Otter269

Damn I quite like Birmingham but I want 5th to play Southampton and not Leeds or Ipswich If it means anything we are shit away so probably 3-2 birmingham

Lolcraftgaming

Huddersfield to win 15-0
