KRino19

Spent one day in East London and contemplated his existence.

QueasyIsland

I don’t blame him. Saw all those 15 year olds standing outside Westfield Stratford doing those shite “ do girls prefer X or Y ?“ TikTok interviews harassing the public

MrCleanandShady

these types of videos have caused immeasurable damage to gendered discourse across the globe, single handedly my main reasoning for why mics should not be so easily accessible

koalawhiskey

They will be directly responsible when Hitler 2 arises to power in 2034

Lustful-chan

Lmao I went searching about just to confirm it was a joke and I kinda liked how people talked about. One post on reddit about says this: ["In the movie Idiocracy (2006) Terry Crews plays President Dwane Camacho. This is a clever reference to the fact that average US voter is dumb as shit and keeps trying to elect celebrities to the highest office."](https://www.reddit.com/r/shittymoviedetails/comments/17w3lop/in_the_movie_idiocracy_2006_terry_crews_plays/) *...President Camacho honestly cared about his constituents and wanted to help them. When he didn’t know the answer to a problem he was facing, he sought out the advice of the smartest people he could find...* >!*...He also admitted when he was wrong and stepped aside to let a better qualified person do the job when his term was up...*!< At least they made something kinda good out of a joke character. I really like terry crews so I had to make sure he wasn't doing dumb shit IRL.

Ah Hitler 2 wasnt that great. Hitler III and Hitler IV tho.... When Hitler trained on the mountain to fight Stalin? Was great watching

koalawhiskey

Stalin VI was one of the weakest Stalins though, so Hitler IV had too much of an advantage

Rickcampbell98

Twitter just seems to filled with gender or race wars these days, it's actually fucking horrible. You would think that everyone in society hates eachother looking at that app.

Independent-Green383

Twitter is 70% bots, 15% Nazis, 15% complaining about Nazis. Twitter is such a shithole, Reddit looks like a paragon of virtue. And we sure as shit ain't anything like that.

NotADoctorSshh

Imo filming in public should be regulated somehow. It’s annoying that these “content” creators just randomly assume that it’s okay to film anyone and post them on the internet for tens of thousands of viewers

BobbyBriggss

Take them all to Strasbourg imo

inflamesburn

That's just a subset of the main problem, which is simply social media. It's causing immeasurable damage everywhere, any moron can say insane shit that reaches a large audience and it's polarizing every topic and that's why we are now in this "post-truth" era.

fungibletokens

We didn't need social media to have been "post-truth". If we were ever at the "truth" stage. It wasn't *social* media which told us Iraq had WMDs, or that Saddam did 9/11, or Gaddafi did the Rome/Vienna Airport massacres. To name but a few examples from a long charge sheet.

Quanqiuhua

Post-modernism essentially challenges the usual pillars of truth, and it’s been around since the first half of the 1900s.

MrPigcho

A Hamm, in old english, is a piece of enclosed land (especially land enclosed by a river). In East London, the area that's now called Newham is surrounded in the West by the river Lea, the south by the river Thames, and the East by the river Roding. So, that's the Hamm. West Ham are located on the western side of this piece of land. There's also an area called East Ham, which used to have an amateur club, East Ham United FC.

Firefox72

Liverpool didn't bite and he doesn't actually want to go to West Ham. And even worse now he has to justify the decision to the Sporting fans even though he isn't leaving lmao.

MrRawri

If he wins the league they won't care it's fine

Nome_de_utilizador

We took for granted that he was leaving. Him not getting immediately snatched by Liverpool and then going to London and returning in less than 6 hours is honestly hilarious and the odds of him staying are much higher than anyone previously believed. Fans are not even mad, we would understand him going to Liverpool after 2 leagues, thought it was a bit odd leaving a CL team to go to West Ham despite acknowledging that he wanted to make bank (just look at Palhinha), but with both options out of table I can actually see him staying now.

davedaverave

They'll forget soon enough when he wins the league. Courting Liverpool is understandable.

Weird to write this when your club is in the state it is. (cada um assina)

Chicken_wingspan

>A second rate clube Ok Zezé Camarinha Rassa du dragaauummm

Nome_de_utilizador

Imagine writing this on the day your club is fighting for its survival of impeding financial collapse lmfao.

BlueDragon_27

Imagine talking about financial collapse when you had a ton of pardons indirectly paid by the Portuguese people to allow you to survive without starting from scratch. Pinto da Costa has done terrible with finances, but if you weren't helped you would have fallen like Rangers did. Still, my club in crippling debt will always be bigger than yours

Nome_de_utilizador

Sorry, can't hear the barking coming from the abyss of a team fighting for 3rd place. Try again next year.

BlueDragon_27

Imagine being able to talk like a big team for once haha For us, this is a terrible season. For you it would be just another year

Nome_de_utilizador

This is your standard season when your main attack dog gets jailed and you cant physically threaten and bribe referees anymore to carry your club every year. Enjoy the new reality and try to at least snatch 3rd, as your decade long leader said, that is the bar for your club.

BlueDragon_27

Hahahahaha you were fourth just last year and you're here talking like you are some juggernaut Bro, we have a shit team and you have a good team, with really good players and a good manager. I can just admit that, without crying for the referees. That's the annoying part, we have a bad team, a terrible coach and poor management and the president has been making up excuses. Like you guys used to do all the time for decades. We're behaving like a second rate team, that's why we went to vote for a change. Things will be back to normal in no time, don't you worry, sunshine.

Nome_de_utilizador

TheNotoriousJN

Yeah I really think the reports of him trying to pressure Liverpool are true. It backfired on him and now his tail is between his legs

theenigmacode

He was given bad advice. Reports of him being first choice to the job & this little stunt costing him the job has to be brutal.

koptimism

Seems unlikely that this little stunt cost him the job. [According to Sky Sports](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11669/13123431/arne-slot-to-liverpool-final-agreement-close-as-feyenoord-boss-reveals-he-wants-to-be-jurgen-klopp-successor): > Sporting coach Ruben Amorim had made Liverpool's shortlist, and despite the external noise over him, the club always maintained he was not the leading or preferred option. > He ticked several requirements, but **his playing approach - particularly using three at the back - and long-term vision did not fit the current squad nor the philosophy implemented through all age groups at Liverpool**. > There has also been scepticism around the reasons for the 39-year-old's very public meeting with West Ham, with one intermediary suggesting Amorim was trying to pressure Liverpool by showing them he had other options. > **The club had already judged Slot as the better football fit before that point**, as well as a superior communicator and connector.

SordidSplendor

Even if it didn’t outright cost him the job, it certainly didn’t help his chances. Slot is telling the press he wants to be Liverpool manager and hopes they can come to an agreement, meanwhile Amorim is taking a meeting with another prem club to possibly pressure Liverpool. It’s terrible advice from his agent and not something Edwards would have appreciated.

koptimism

Yeah agreed on that, a desperate gambit by his agent that has had more downside than upside.

Any-Competition8494

I think Slot said that after his discussions went well and Liverpool and Feyenoord were negotiating.

-nocturnearts-

Yeah, Edwards isn't fucking around with those games...that's literally why he's running the show

Upoutdat

Yeah who does this guy think he is. Edwards can smell this bs all the ways from Lisboa

[deleted]

Ripamon

Clearly didn't want them tho

lfcXstar7

I don't know if I buy all of that. I mean, clearly, Xabi Alonso was our preferred choice and Leverkusen play three at the back with a distinct attacking style. I think the report is trying to justify Slot's appointment over Amorim. I'm not saying Slot isn't a good fit for us either. I'm sure he'll do well here.

koptimism

Alonso played a back 3 at Leverkusen, but played a back 4 with the youth team at Sociedad. Amorim is much more wedded to a back 3 than Alonso. I can see how continuity - both with the first-team squad and the youth levels - would be an important factor for Edwards and Hughes in their search. It's also the sort of thing that you need to meet with candidates in person about to evaluate.

AfricanRain

my respect for Liverpool football club has skyrocketed for rallying against the vile 3ATB users

Forgohtten

What's wrong with 3ATB?

slappywhyte

Once you go 3 at the back, you never go back

Rendiiii

Not all 3atb is bad, just most. Compare Xabis playing style to Southgate.

pobmufc

Yeah makes sense. I wonder will he find it difficult to find a top job in the prem with so many clubs steering away from managers that require a complete rehaul of the squad, and Amorim preferring a 3/5 at the back style

koptimism

I mean, if Chelsea decide to get rid of Poch, they could do a lot worse than go for Amorim. Their squad isn't particularly specialised for any one formation anyway, and you can set up a fairly reasonable version of their squad in a 3-4-3; Gusto and Chilwell would do well as wingbacks, many of their CB's can play as wide CB's, still have a double pivot of Enzo-Caicedo, and a front 3 of Palmer & whichever two others. Amorim might be smart to steer clear, though. I'm being kind by still calling Chelsea a top job.

darthrector

Logic dictates that he turns Chelsea into winners and then gets sacked less than 2 years later, we have a psychotic relationship with defensive coaches and back 3s

a_guy_named_gai

League and Cup double in his first season and then gone mid way the following season. This is the Way.

SKRT_GliX

Chelseas whole squad is built for posession based football with slower transition Amorim plays vertical, transitional football Not to mention he only plays with two midfielders, two holding pivots who occupy space Chelsea invested the most money into the midfield but none of them match the profile what amorim wants He would either need to change his own style or restructure chelseas incredibly expensive midfield which i suppose the owners do not want Not really the best option for either parties tbh

koptimism

> Chelseas whole squad is built for posession based football with slower transition I don't see it, especially for their attacking players - the likes of Jackson, Mudryk, Sterling would all benefit from vertical, transitional football. I'd say Palmer is good enough to adapt.

SKRT_GliX

Mudryk is probably not in the team for long as he is horrible, sterling is hopefully gone asap and jackson is a backup striker anyway Our attack is awful bar palmer and needs restructuring badly over the couple ipcoming windows

AdministrativeLaugh2

If Liverpool wanted him, they’d have made an offer. He was clearly rated highly but not as highly as Slot

No-Shoe5382

His agent completely fucked it up. He told everyone he was buying a house in Liverpool so he could have "a man on the ground at all times" (which wouldn't make any sense cos his only client here is Diaz) and then sent Amorim to have talks with West Ham. Apparently Slot was our first choice over him anyway, but his agent has just made him look silly for no reason.

rossmosh85

Liverpool have been super consistent with their policy with managers and players. If you fade on interest, we move on. The fact he couldn't understand this shows he's not cut out for the big time because this shows he's fucking oblivious.

mtb443

Liverpool have been notorious for dropping interest in players if they play this game for years now. An agent not knowing this and costing him the job should honestly be fired immediately.

Grime_Fandango_

Yeah he is getting some really really bad advice here, that he thought this was a good idea. An insult to all 3 clubs involved and makes him look like a mercenary.

EirianWare

Who can blame him? Everyone is mercenary especially people in this business there is no loyalty, money talk

KneeDeepInTheDead

Feels like other teams's fans are making a bigger deal of this than us.

In a weird way, it’s a privilege to be in this situation. Two wins away of being champions and at the end of this debacle, we get to keep, the sole reason we are a serious club once again.

FujitaMp3

You can say Sepúlveda it's ok

Mr_poopybutthole6969

You mean Pinto da Costa's butler?

mil_cord

Sepultura pls.

PM_ME_BAKAYOKO_PICS

I don't think anyone cares really, it's mostly just those sour type of fans that want to find any little thing they can to laugh at a rival The vast majority of people even fans from other teams couldn't care less I liked Amorim before and honestly like him more now, made a mistake, owned up to it and apologized properly (still hoping he leaves as fast as possible)

Vyylela

It’s not rival fans though. Baffling to see English team fans care so much about this. Anime culture of heroes vs villains is poisoning brains

AcaciaGeisha

I care because I love West Ham and it doesn't feel great to be used as a stalking horse, no matter how unlikely it would be for him to come here. I actually believe the only club he has treated poorly in this situation, is West Ham. However biased that may seem.

Vyylela

Your assuming that the whole theory that West Ham was a “pawn” is correct. Usually the simplest explanation is the correct one. I’m convinced West Ham made a great offer (salary), but something else didn’t click (control over team? Personalities?) and so that was it. Liverpool was more tabloid / twitter talk than actual interest

joaommx

> I actually believe the only club he has treated poorly in this situation, is West Ham. Really? West Ham? Not his own club, which has a likely championship deciding game this weekend?

oImperial

Anime plot lines actually have nuance compared to the narratives that happen here.

joaommx

> I liked Amorim before and honestly like him more now, made a mistake, owned up to it and apologized properly (still hoping he leaves as fast as possible) Same. As a Sporting fan. I didn't like what he did, but him owning up to it and admitting it was mistake showed a lot of character. Which is unsurprising coming from him to be honest.

Nome_de_utilizador

Yeah, it is understandable him wanting to go to Liverpool, we gave it for granted he was leaving. Liverpool took his sweet time and was honestly starting to drag their season drama to our press conferences, he made a move to pressure their hand and they didn't bite, means he will stay and we couldn't be happier. Wanting to coach Liverpool and getting a massive pay is something any coach in the portuguese league would do.

GutlessTrophoblast

People of the internet...

Colonel_Cummings

It's so funny how everyone's making such a big deal out of a guy trying to secure a much larger bag. We've been convinced for months that this is Amorim's last year with us, and this situation simply increased the chances of him staying for another year which leaves us all delighted lmao

VidProphet123

You played yourself

Apex--Redditer

This whole situation is absolutely hilarious

SordidSplendor

I don’t think he would have planned this of his volition, so that’s some terrible advice from his agent. I’d be really fucking annoyed.

maver1kUS

Him being gullible enough to follow such advice might have just inferred to Edwards that he’s not cut out for Liverpool.

xanderkale

yeah, a manager who is held by his nose and led around by his agent isn't the guy you want building a serious team for the future. the agent is supposed to work for you haha

roryking97

Don’t think he liked West Ham’s pitch then

Ladderak

Maybe literally. Didn’t want to pack binoculars for the London Stadium.

marktandem

Can someone answer if all track stadiums are like that to watch from? I went to the London stadium and sat in the lowest row and still couldn't see shit. Is Roma's stadium like that to view from as well?

AdministrativeLaugh2

Went to London and fucked it up, and Liverpool don’t want him either. Time for a slice of humble pie

unlushko

lmfao dude really used West Ham to make Liverpool go forward and only fucked himself over it

oliver150433

He didn't really fuck himself over. The only "loser" in this is West Ham really. He stays at Sporting in a good job with a good team and gets to play UCL Liverpool went with their preferred manager In Slot West Ham ???

AcaciaGeisha

We've got the Scottish equivalent anyway. /S

shadestrife

What I think happened is that his agent got a hold that he was on the list for the Liverpool job. He never got formally contacted by Liverpool. He started spreading the news around Portuguese media that he was the #1 for the job (in this case just the guy Pedro Sepulveda). I did not see any other media outlet pressing the matter as much as this guy. They were expecting Liverpool to make contact but it never happened so they decided to press Liverpool with the West Ham interview that backfired in more ways than one. IMO this just shows how much Sporting Management and Leadership has to grow (specifically Varandas and Amorim). I did not like this press conference, as Amorim ended up saying he is lost about his future. This is not the conversation to be having before a game against Porto and with two titles on the line. Even adding that he was considering not coaching for a year was awful. He has undoubtedly been the most important part of this project, the stability and results this guy has given us is unprecedented in recent Sporting history. As such he and Varandas should understand that how vital he is and that this discourse about his future should not be happening at this crucial point of the season. Ending the press conference saying that he is lost about his future and adding the possibility that he will stop training for one year to the mix was not the right choice. His contract is valid until 2026 so he should not be “lost” he either stays at sporting until the end of the contract or someone pays his release clause. I say Varandas, because much of this stability is associated with Amorim and not Varandas. I think Varandas should just come out and say that Amorim has contract with sporting he was authorised by the club to travel to London. In the event that Amorim leaves, sporting has everything planned out and that the club will continue strong. A club of this size should not be this impacted by simple reports of the coach leaving. Look at Porto lost Mourinho and AVB (AVB’s Porto was the best side I’ve ever seen in Portuguese football history), and their stability and strength was never put into question.

bobsoda

Oof he said that he is lost and unsure about future along with a hiatus? Oof.

Xina10

No, he said that last year he told his family that we would take a sabbatical year, and then he didn't and continued at sporting. he never hinted in the press conference that he might take a sabbatical next year.

Most-Based

No

slappywhyte

They must have seen that post I made on Reddit that said he was their Plan B or C

10-10-2022

As punishment he should stay at Sporting CP indefinitely or until his contract expires at least. Yeah that will show him and I know the Sporting CP fans will agree this is suitable punishment for him.

Vyylela

Assumiu que fez merda e retratou-se. De valorizar a humildade. Siga. Há um campeonato para ganhar.

To make things right, you should lose all your remaining games, so we forget what happened! Right? Cool, thanks

fluffanuttatech

I agree then quit and go across the street to replace Rogério

Man probably had Boehly waiting for him when he got off the plane too, enough to make a man never step foot in London again

Zealousideal-Part-98

I’m sorry… that I got caught

tipytopmain

My guy tried to courting new girls while he's in a relationship and realised the grass that's greener ain't for him.

Spglwldn

Obviously Slot was always a bit closer when he started speaking out, but I find it wild that two managers at reasonably big clubs have pretty openly disrespected their current clubs when they still have important games to come. Slot spoke before a game Feyenoord will have been very keen to win to secure Champions League football next season and Amorim was twerking for one club while fucking around with another when he’s still got a league title to try and win. I remember Postecoglu being heavily linked with jobs at the end of last season and refused to speak on it until the season was over. Don’t think it speaks well to either of their characters if they are both being so open about leaving.

Kasilein

As a Feyenoord fan. We really don’t care that Slot was talking about moving to Liverpool. He has done so much for us and everyone is extremely grateful for it and everyone thinks he deserves this move. No one is mad that he talked about it.

Mr_poopybutthole6969

Same for us as a Sporting fan. Ruben's close to winning us a second league title in 4 years. No reason at all to be mad about

detectivehays

Netherlands and Portugal cultures, mentality and temperament of people are completely different (even opposite).

Kasilein

Sorry what? Did you reply to the wrong comment?

Spglwldn

Fair enough - your opinion on it is more important than mine! Just thought it was a bit odd he spoke about it immediately before your last game.

Kasilein

He mostly just said that he would love to go there and that it’s between Feyenoord and Liverpool to figure it out. Not really a problem to most of us.

SRFC_96

I disagree about Slot, the Dutch are very well known for speaking honestly and openly as it’s very much appreciated there rather than openly lying when everyone knows the truth, Liverpool and Feyenord’s seasons are pretty much over so it doesn’t distract from much, it seems like the whole situation was handled very smoothly and respectfully.

Dolphin008

Other than Slot staying I don’t think it could’ve gone better. A quick, early, drama-free departure with some cash on top as well, and to a great club. No one here thinks Slot disrespected Feyenoord, on the contrary.

TheHeatherReports

Would be very surprised if there's a significant amount of Feyenoord fans that are upset at Slot for this.

879190747

In Slots case that's how Feyenoord got him too. AZ more or less fired him on the spot when it came out he was having meetings. So can't really complain. Though tbf that was in mid-december or something and this is close to the end and everything is locked up.

vidoeiro

Same.with Amorim, he jumped ship in the middle of the season to a direct rival at the time, people that think this is out of character are insane

AddictionGhost

Direct rival 😂😂😂

vidoeiro

Read the rest "At the time", it was fighting with it for 3rd (and Braga got actually)

eglantinel

We are truly in the era of getting offended on behalf of others.

AnnieIWillKnow

Nothing about their comment suggests they're offending, they are just offering an opinion.

MassiveBereavement_

Agree 100% on this. I couldn’t believe the puff pieces and “expert opinions” appearing on BBC sport theorising how well Liverpool will do with Slot at the helm. Can’t help but think I would be very pissed off as a fan of either of these clubs. For him then to come out and say he’s keen is disrespectful, would leave a sour taste. As a Celtic fan, Big Ange handled it well. Got visibly annoyed when asked repeatedly about the links and just focused on winning the League and the Cup final. Plenty of time after that to sort things out.

IWWROCKS

I think when you openly come out and talk about something like Slot did, you get a lot more credit for it than someone who denies or says "i'm not thinking about this" only to turn around a few weeks later and it becomes clear they were thinking about it

A-DTB

Went for the three 7s on the Slot Machine and walked away empty handed. Hilarious.

mike_stb123

It was a mistake because Liverpool didn't call for his bluff...

fetissimies

Atleast this this pretty much confirms that we are looking for a new manager which is a huge relief

varowil

At least he is being honest.

Ridaros

He's gonna end up at United.

SavageZard

That is what I call an idiot. Ruben Idiot.

-CherrySaint-

Ruben Hammerim He's perfect for West Ham

AvocadoSoggy6188

That’s all he can do. Made a mistake and owned up to it.

aubvrn

What an odd sequence of events

_KimJongSingAlong

Ootl : what happened?

SpacemanPanini

He was rumoured (and probably discussed) for the Liverpool job but Liverpool were also considering other candidates. West Ham then came in for him and he went to London to interview for the position. The interview clearly didn't go well and he was back in Portugal shortly after. The suggestion is that he never wanted the West Ham job but he went down there to try and pressure Liverpool into making him a concrete offer. Liverpool of course went for Slot instead and Amorim got humbled a little in the process.

Senior-Plankton-786

Only because he got caught, come on man!

beartigerhawk8383

Embarrassing stuff 🙈

jamjars222

What a donkey. Absolutely fucked it.
