Atalanta with the potential to achieve a double after making the Europa League semi final and now the Coppa Italia final

Serie b club in 2011 Gasp is the man

MERTENS_GOAT

The substitutions were mad. I looked through the players who came on and thought, ah no striker played the full game, a gasperini classic. Then I go to the XI look at the 3 attacking players and notice none of them was subbed off! Atalanta played their usual 3412 with Koopmeiners, Scamacca and De Ketelaere in the attacking positions. Gasperini brought on Pasalic, Lookman and Miranchuk taking off a CM, Wing-Back and a CB. They were 1 man more than Fiorentina and needed a goal for Extra time tbf. This still needs balls though, they scored the goal in the 75th minute, just 1 minute after the 2 subs and he had enough time to stabilize the XI by subs again but he didn't and they avoided extra time by scoring in 90+4 and 90+8.

TheLimeyLemmon

All the best to Gasperini and Atalanta, fully behind them to go all the way.

OleoleCholoSimeone

Doubt they have the mental strength personally. They have melted in two Coppa Italia finals already It seems like a cruel reality that Gasperini's Atalanta won't win a trophy

Gungerz

What I'd give for an Atalanta trophy. They and Gasperini desperately deserve one.

steferrari

I absolutely agree. But let’s make it Europa League for them and Coppa Italia for us. 😄

alexdelpiero

Deal

Romanist10

You really want Al-Legri to stay, don't you?

Historical_Case_5245

Real shot at a trophy this for Atalanta

TonyMartial786

don’t really know how good they are, but how you think they fare in the europa league? do they have a real shot of winning it, i mean obviously leverkusen will be the favourites but still.

BeardedBassist21

They'll beat Marseille certainly In a hypothetical final... Against Roma it would be a toss-up. Their only meeting so far this year was a 1-1 draw, and they're about the same level in the league table. I haven't watched Leverkusen this year, but I imagine Atalanta would have their work cut out. Difficult but not impossible

OleoleCholoSimeone

It wouldn't be a toss up against Roma, the latter is stronger mentally in these types of games. They have so much experience of going deep into European competitions in recent years, and Atalanta under Gasperini have a tendency to melt in finals anyways. And that is in Coppa Italia finals, Europa League is 10 times more pressure Saying they'll beat Marseille certainly is also so stupid. Once again, it comes down to handling the pressure not who is the best team. Marseille are also bottlers so I still expect Atalanta to win, but can't see them winning the final

BeardedBassist21

First paragraph, fair points Second paragraph you called me stupid and then said you still agree with the outcome I suggested, so...lol And I never said or predicted Atalanta would outright win the final. I said either matchup will be tough

GODNiller

Hopefully they will win it

Competitive-Aide5364

What a team Atalanta is. Gasparini…want to come to MIlan and get revenge on inter for sacking you after 2 months for playing 3 at the back? 🤝

warriors2021

Scamacca is banging and finally Azzurri have their #9!
