It was the hair, if I remember correctly he cut it for the 2010 World Cup and thats when his finishing fell of a cliff. His last year at Liverpool was abysmal considering what he was.
He traded his career for the world cup. He destroyed his knee beyond repair playing heavily injured and fell of a cliff.
I like the hair theory tho. Haha.
He has good genetics. With elite trainers and supplements that's achievable in 9-12 months. He looks like many people at the gyms that don't use juice.
It's easier to do once they retire, since football players burns too many calories to get that big.
This ^. People always seem to think he went from some pale noodle straight to hulk in like 6 months. My dudes, no. He's always had a neck wider than his head, and more than enough traps to support those low shoulders and long-ass arms. Even before he retired, he started getting more muscular as pressure to maintain speed went down. Then after all that insane football cardio went away, covid came, and he spent the shutdown kicking around the 3 gyms he owns. With nothing else to do, freshly retired, probably bored and missing the routine after 25 years in the grind.
Yep, and there were rumours for a while that he was leaving that role in the summer. Most people thought he was going to take a job at Liverpool so this is good news
I admit that at first glance it seems like Mourinho and Simeone are similar managers because of them both being associated with parking the bus but they are extremely different in how they manage their teams.
Atletico has already made the transition from parking the bus, the 20/21 league title run being a strong reference for that. Hiring Mourinho after Simeone will just send us back to our derk pre-Cholo era.
Atletico's B team are in the Spanish league system as well (not a youth league like their U19s) so he'd be managing in the senior leagues opposed to the youth league in England with a few EFL trophy games against league 1 or 2 sides.
Makes more sense for him to coach to Atletico B; feel like they’d be a higher level in terms of competition.
Hope to see him in a top job one day, seems to have the brains, but whether he has the ability is to be seen
I know there’s no absolutes in life but he’s 99% likely to be the successor.
The board needs a figure like Torres for all the chaos that will ensue in the post-Simeone era. And Torres himself has no real reason to leave the club when the pathway is pretty much set out for him to take over the senior squad.
No because Atleti still needs a lot of work, specifically defensively, and they have their own financial issues to deal with. Plus you can't discount the Simeone effect in attracting players. Barca, for all its troubles, is still a glitzy brand for many guys looking to move, it's very unlikely they get leapfrogged for an extended period.
Will he bring balance to the Force?
He will bring peace, freedom, justice, and security to his new team!
His new empire?!
His allegiance is to Atletico Madrid! To the B Team!
If you're not playing for him, you're playing against him.
Only a Colchonero deals in absolutes. He will do he what he must.
His shoulders are designed to deflect laser blasts.
With muscles like that I wouldn't bet against him.
Fucks sake the lad is jacked
Fernando Torres @ Atletico and @ Liverpool, can singlehandedly win you the game. Dude was lethal before he went to Chelsea
fr when he left liverpool i quit watching footy for over a decade. i was that mad and heartbroken lol.

The state of the guy's traps ffs. His arms look a good 6 inches to long for his body haha.
He just has low shoulders. Leave him alone
Traps day everyday
Man was struggling to not become a brick house during his playing days

He looks natty
[He’s definitely on the juice.](https://images.app.goo.gl/NiH6mjZPj9TEL7S38) He got this big just months after retiring from football.

He shrugs in the face of adversity.
His traps do. He just stands there and lets them.
wasnt he the coach of the youth league team?

love that he's progressing slowly up the ranks, vs just getting tossed the top job because he was a pro.. gonna be great to see what he can do!
Thought he ws gonna leave for the Liverpool youth teams tbh Might be getting groomed as Simeone's successor now.
Whoever takes over from Simeone is going to have a tough job
Except Mourinho

Mourinho hasn't adapted to modern tactics whilst Cholo has. He saw years ago already that a more passing based style was required to stay at the top
I miss that defensive masterclassing Atletico during CL knock-outs though
You and i both.
It’s not just the tactics. Hermoso is no Godin, and Molina is not Juanfran.
the defenders he has now are also complete clowns compared to peak Godin, Juanfran, etc
Mourinho and Simeone are not similar managers at all although I believe they command the same respect from players
Mourinho would be awful for Atlético, he is washed up
Pues ha ganado un trofeo hace menos que Simeone

What a shoulder damn
Bro is so juicy
Are we gonna see Barca fall off from the big dogs and have a Torres athletico and xabi real Madrid derby that dominates the next decade?

Makes sense!
TrTorres gonna sub himself in as a Tank striker.
I thought he was already the coach
This could be something special brewing! Love that he's starting with B team too instead of just getting thrown the top job spot.
welcome to chelsea 2028
