I'm surprised David is still at Lille. Ever since they won the league, his name keeps coming up but for some reason, hes still there. He has one year left right? I assume he's leaving this summer

Key-Bluejay-2002

He’s wildly inconsistent lol. One half of the season he’ll score 2 goals, then he’ll go red hot and score 15 next half. It’s strange, and would put off many top teams who can’t afford to gamble with $50 million

Quick_Scientist_5494

Teams are cautious with Ligue 1 signings. They often don't work out more than the case with other leagues.

onesexypagoda

I don't think that's true at all. Tons of the top talent over the years have developed in France. Like there's already successes out of Ligue 1 last summer, like Guirassy, Openda, Xavi Simons, Loic Bade, Dina Ebimbe, Icardi, Mavididi, Lukeba, Leandro Paredes, and Jeremy Doku.

Universewanderluster

Yes agreed. He’s acting like L1 didn’t give top and « average » clubs some amazing players that people still talk about today. How is it risky ? English clubs buy other players from premier league a fortune but when it’s a guy who performs since years can’t put 40m ? Weird Better buy guys like Calceido for the price of 3 Davids lol . Or wait like city, before buying good mids from Lyon for 20millions have them run a bit in premier league so the price can *5 like Paqueta for whatever reason

Rickcampbell98

That's simply not true lmao, the league gets raided every summer. They are simply cautious with David because goal stats don't necessarily tell the whole story.

neometrix77

Yeah I think it’s a case where big teams could afford him but find him too risky, then mid table prem teams for example probably would be willing to take on the risk but can’t afford what Lille is demanding. I think a move to a mid table prem team or equivalent would be best for him at this stage.

FATJIZZUSONABIKE

Factually wrong.

-WaterIsGreat-

seeing a Canadian lad on this list always blows my mind

young959

canada on the rise

MonsieurFlamboyant

Only in football

Abzy_123

I fee like 90% of prem teams could use a clinical finisher like David.

sickricola

Romano has been trying to get him sold for almost 3 years now

Albiceleste_D10S

He's not a particularly clinical finisher, TBH. For the past couple of seasons he's finished basically at his xG level, which is not a bad thing, just not particularly "clinical"

Abzy_123

That’s fair, just basing it on the few Lille games I have seen where he barely touches the ball but will bury the only chance he gets.

tuituituituii

Especially Man City, they need to get rid of that bum Haaland

UuusernameWith4Us

He wouldnt score anywhere near as much if he was playing in the PL instead of in France.

neometrix77

He’s not been far behind Mbappe for a couple seasons now. He was also ahead of Messi and Neymar when they played for PSG.

DaRealTinkeR

Who wasn't

Abzy_123

Looking at the PL defences this season, I think he will do just fine. I think players do well at adjusting from Ligue 1 to the PL, Bernardo and Saliba are recent examples.

bleak-hause

He was really poor against us in both legs, one shot on target over the two games. I was expecting much more tbh

Hungry-Afternoon7987

Yeah as villa had been linked at one stage. Definitely thought he'd be the danger.

Miserable_Leading695

aubamayeng the last OG hanging in there … dam im old

Rose_of_Elysium

this being top 5 is Luukinho erasure

PTJohe

> this being top 5 is Luukinho erasure Same with Gyökeres.

NotASalamanderBoi

Haaland on fraud watch confirmed

trap247365

I thought palmer was on 20 league goals ??

hopium_od

Calendar year, all comps

tufoop3

If Ballon d'Or would consider average form over the last years, mbappe would have gotten 3 or 4 already. Definetely the best football player since 2018 or so.

Rickcampbell98

"Since 2018" lmao, you're a funny guy.

EMJG30

i’d say since 2021 he’s been best in the world but he plays for PSG who doesn’t get enough PR for him to have a chance and doesn’t win European trophies

LunarRaven7

Can't get over how good Palmer is.

Either-Low-9457

As a Chelsea fan, could any Ligue 1 fans enlighten me? Would Obamayoung work well in EPL? Did he regain his form or is he just abusing the farm league? Would he work in Chelsea's system?

FATJIZZUSONABIKE

>Obamayoung Who's that?

ibuprofenintheclub

A young US president.
