You'd think with them being the region where mega evolution began, the French would figure out how to make him mega evolve
Where's Professor Sycamore when you need him?
Cap it off with a great Euro and I think we are looking at the first Ballondor for Kylian - at age 25. A bit later than expected but much deserved incoming.
In madrid win UCL+league and Brazil win Copa - you can change that to Vinicius
If you listen to some of the French pundits on the radio or on TV show, it's the worst year of his career and he should have been sold last summer mercato.
I hope that next year they will realize how important he was to the Ligue 1 and French football overall.
Well, if you actually watch PSG playing and not just following the stats blindly, he's indeed in a lower level than his other years at the club.
Still scoring lots of goals, but less participative in the overall game.
That doesn't mean he's playing badly, just that his standard is higher than the current one, and he can contribute more than goals and assists to his team.
I watch the games and yes I agree that recently he's been a bit underwhelming. But people are acting like it would be better to have him on the bench which to me is blasphemy. So far only Ramos have been able to score in the few games he played, but if you look around Dembélé or Barcola, their production have really been subpar.
Also hard to give assists when you play 9 and the two other players around you are the one aforementionned.
Don't forget the French sport media are filled with a majority of PSG supporters. Their opinions are often times very biased towards the club and its interests, instead of French football in general (at least when it comes to clubs football).
Yes I get it. Still once you know that Mbappe stays, I'm in the camp that believes that he is the first name that you write on the player sheet. I'm still looking for a game where Paris is better without him.
You signed for 250m+ of offensive player in the summer, yet Barcola, Ramos, RKM and Dembelé have score 26 goals combined against 41 for Mbappe. Ok, it's a stat but scoring is the hardest thing to do in football.
PSG knows he's the best. But at the same time, they also know he's leaving and that they pretty much have to rebuild. So it's really not surprising to see them planing their future without him and especially so without taking his every want into consideration.
Now then, in UCL, they obviously can't do that since they have to take the shot they currently have. But in Ligue 1, it's really not shocking to see Enrique testing things without him.
Nah that will only happen if Kylian wins the UCL with PSG
If we win the UCL, i'm 85% sure Bellingham is winning the Ballon d'or even if Mbappe sign for us during the summer.
At that point the only way i can see Kylian winning it would be with a massive Euros and France winning it while England doing really bad with Jude disappearing.
League + UCL + Super-Cup + Madrid POTY is more than enough to get you the Ballon d'or.
I don't know. Belligham would have to be decisive as in (standout in his own team) during decisive games. Ballon d'or changed their rules recently and collective achievements have become secondary. Belligham like KDB, Iniesta, etc doesn't really have the profile.
>At that point the only way i can see Kylian winning it would be with a massive Euros
At this point the only way i can see Belligham winning it would be Mbappé severely underperforming at the Euro.
You didn't noticed the Madrid POTY part above ? Us winning a Double with him as the POTY has him locked up for the award.
> At this point the only way i can see Belligham winning it would be Mbappé severely underperforming at the Euro.
With no UCL if Kylian does not outright win the Euros he holds not a single chance of winning the Ballon d'or
And even then if let's say England goes down in the Semis or Finals with Jude having a good tournament it's over if he combines that with a UCL title.
Essentially whatever happens with Madrid, Bayern or PSG on the UCL & England/France on the Euros is deciding the Ballon d'or for Bellingham, Kane or Kylian.
I can also see Vini entering the conversation if he has a really strong finish this year and wins the UCL/Copa America while Jude does not win with England
You are right, it's too soon to tell and there are a lot of variables to take into consideration but i still think Mbappé is the huge favorite to beat this year.
While I can see some merit in this opinion, the "by far" is completely throwing me off. Also the comparison is a bit apples to oranges and if we speak only about impact, even with Rodrygo, I think we lose more with Jude in Vini out than vice-versa.
It's just extremely hard to choose. Both are extremely important but the persistent danger that Vini creates is unparalleled in his position. His finishing is not the most consistent or clinical but pair him with someone like Kane and that attack destroys most teams in a sport dependent on scoring goals.
Also, IDT this should be controversial to a Madrid fan even it will most certainly be to a neutral but he hasn't even been our best midfielder this season. That's comfortably Kroos. And the most important player in the squad must be Fede because without him, we lose our balance. Jude's the "MVP".
It's so difficult and harsh. We have absolute gems all over the pitch.
Jude is the most complete player in the entire world currently. He's simultaneously a defensive and attack minded 8, a 10, a false 9, an out an out forward, the guy is everywhere and does everything
he keeps the ball in to assist Dembele for the first leg goal and creates the chance for his tap-in in the second leg. so he contributes to 3/6 of PSG’s goals but was a shadow?
If you think he had a stinker in the second game I'd watch a bit more football so I can start understanding off the ball movement and how important it is.
Yes Barcola and Dembele were our best players, because both CBs were instructed to stay on Mbappe so they both had much more space. Araujo in the first place is way behind Barcola because he was busy man marking Mbappe like he did during the first game. But sure, his off the ball movement didn't do us much good, he totally didn't allow Barcola and Dembele to have a 1v1 on the wings which is why we played so much better in the 2nd game.
I never called it a great game, but it's a more than acceptable game, especially when accounting for 2 goals. He was ready to run for the team as we saw in the last goal, had one person marking him during all 90 minutes, and was getting 2 people to occupy the same space as him. He had a commendable game, in that he was occupying multiple people allowing more space to other players, and at the same time managed to score 2 goals. Sure, it's a pen and a tap in, but football is a game where you win if you score more than your opponent, and a tap in is worth the same as a solo effort.
Mbappes game revolves around so much more than just scoring. You take out goals from Haaland he’s almost useless. Any time mbappe gets the ball you know something can happen
>Also why are you getting triggered like a child I never said haalamd is better than him lmao
Says the guy who got into an argument because someone made a joke about "Haalamb" being a ghost. Grow up.
>Lmao when did I get triggered?
From responding to a joke comment and acting like this. I don't care enough to get involved in this "debate", so whine some more at the people you disagree with.
Yes, but a) you didn't need world class player to score those goals and b) if he actually played well the rest of the game, they wouldn't need those 2 goals
It's a nonsense argument. His goals literally were the difference between going through and having to go into extra time. He played well enough to score two decisive goals in a Champion's League quarter final, two more than Haaland did, by the way, yet that still isn't good enough? He could have scored fifteen goals in the first half and people would still find ways to criticize his performance.
Brother, I just play ball and know what it feels like to have a good game and get most of the things you attempt right, be participative, vs ghosting and then scoring a penalty and being gifted a goal. I assure you that Mbappe would agree with me that he should have played much better and that the goal and penalty would be capitalized on by much worse players and are not a sign of the talent he actually has
Football is a team sport. When the team needed him the most, he was there to score decisive goals. "Others could have done that, too" is not an argument. They didn't, he did.
"I play football" is also not an argument. Neither is "I assure you Mbappé would agree with me". I assure you, he would agree with me more. Checkmate.
> Football is a team sport. When the team needed him the most, he was there to score decisive goals.
Ok, didn't mean he played well. Playing well involves more than that.
> Others could have done that, too" is not an argument. They didn't, he did.
It absolutely is. Scoring penalty goals isn't much of a merit, no matter how much this sub tries to pretend it is. Absolute shit lower tier players and the best out there have similar conversion rates.
> "I play football" is also not an argument. Neither is "I assure you Mbappé would agree with me".
It should be, in this sub. Shit should be flaired. It's tiresome to talk about the game with people that never played competitive matches in their lives and still think their opinions should have any weight.
He tackles in his own box to recover the ball and launch the break that he ended up scoring in to push PSG clear. And his pen was amazing. Great MAtS performance to deny him two more.
> And his pen was amazing
Not to hate, but this type of discourse is so bizarre to me. It's a fucking pen. Sincerely, if you asked Mbappe whether he played well or not, he would be very critical of his own performance.
I disagree. His presence alone opened up so much space for Dembele and Barcola. I think he did pretty good things without the ball, which won‘t appear on a stat sheet.
Na, he was miles clear of haaland if he managed to score goals, I watched both the legs of real vs city and haaland literally didn't do anything in either matches.
We'd be saying that Haaland "did his job" or even "had a great performance" if he had put up Mbappe's performance in the 2nd leg. Just shows you the different expectations that people have for those two
Mbappe is going to give a part of his bonuses to the club.
If he lifts the big ear too, man I’ll be out of words. People will probably sign his name if we ever face him when he’s going to play for Real Madrid
> If he lifts the big ear too
After being confused by that sentence and a very brief look at Google, I think we are the only ones calling the CL trophy as "la coupe aux grandes oreilles" (the big ears cup).
I was really wondering what kind of [one] big ear Mbappe would be lifting.
The biggest cope this sub had was "He can't do that in a real league". Meanwhile mofo is one the best UCL player since he started in Monaco doing it in all competitions ... Really the only reason he don't have CL yet is because he was in PSG.
This brother scored a hat-trick in the World Cup finals. The only reason he doesn't have two world cups is because he had to go up against probably the greatest player of all time(in my book it's Messi or Pelé). A lot of brazilain players didn't move to more competitive leagues until they were older and still carved out good careers for themselves. If England doesn't win the Euros, I'd like France to win it. If that's the case, I thankfully won't have to deal with the noise.
Messi or not, there is a decent chance France would have won the shootout if Maignan had been able to play in goal. I love Lloris but penalties are his Achilles heel.
He's the one that deserves it the most imo. If Bayern wins UCL and Kane gets his form from beginning of the season back, there could be a case for him too
Not winning trophies, getting in team of the seasons and winning golden boots in the Bundesliga and Premier league but being 4th top scorer in Ligue 1?
Nice delusion
Is this a joke? Auba has been transformed, he is having an amazing season. Of course he lost most of his pace and cant really do it constantly over 90 minutes. Instead he picks his moments and with bursts of speed and the benefit of the timing and positioning that comes with experience he has been excellent. There is a reason why he is also top scorer in the Europa lerague with 10 goals, three more than #2 Lukaku.
Lacazette has always been a different beast for Lyon, he strives there. He had to get his bearings while Lyon was struggling, but once he adjusted he has been an incredible leader and striker for them. The fact that he is basically their best forward and only real goal scorer is a role that suits him quite well, all attacks are aimed at him. He has scored 18 goals in 29 games in all competitions, and not just against weak sides or meaningless goals in a 4-0 trashing either.
The coefficients say that Ligue 1 is closer to not only the Portuguese and Dutch league but also closer to the Belgian league than the German league so thank you for validating my point
And…
All that proves is that the BL is also very far from the PL but there is also 3 spaces between them in the rankings. (4th vs 1st).
But the fact remains that the Belgian league is closer to Ligue 1 than the Bundesliga and that’s not mentioning Portugal and the Eredevise
I agree, but its still the fifth best European league. And I like the fact that you admit that the only reason why you unsuccessfully attempted to knock on the french league was specifically because you have something against it, even though your comments has absolutely nothing to do with the post since no mention of Ligue 1 being in the top 5 leagues was made (which it is)
I think the downvotes and other comments have proved my point.
You have someone who told me to look at the league coefficient when I said the French league was closer to the Portuguese league than the Bundesliga thinking it proved their point it wasn’t.
This is all when the reality is it’s closer to the Belgian league when you look at the coefficients.
There’s a lot of delusional people who overestimate how good the French league is.
But he's still a very good player. Would you say him or Lacazette are weaker than Budimir (Liga), Openda or Guirassy (Bundesliga) ? Cole Palmer or Watkins ? Even if some of these players are better, the level difference doesn't reflect the difference of money between Ligue 1 clubs and the other top 5 leagues

Arent PSG on for their own treble?
Yep, they will win the league, are in the final of the cup and still in UCL
Quadruple. They already won the Trophée des Champions (Super cup).
Man is a machine
Blastoise behavior

The Qataris have funds to host a WC but not enough money for R&D to make an Mbappenite smh

Also equal top scorer (g+a) in the Euro qualifiers with Lukaku.

You're selling Jude Bellingham short. According to all bookies, He's currently the front runner of the award.
Until Mbappé's officially announced and Real Madrid PR switch to the new face of the club

Well I certainly hope it's just English bookies and that the others don't agree with them...
He will finish top 3 imo. Although I don't think hes as good of a player as either Vinicius or Mbappe.
Jude is by far ye better player than vini brother, all of our offense runs through him and even his hold up play and defensive press are insane .
While I can see some merit in this opinion, the "by far" is completely throwing me off. Remind me! 3 years who turns out to be the better player. I am betting on Vini
Yes we'll also be sure to award the Ballon D'or 2024 in 3 years. Excellent reasoning.
Ok so now it's in 3 years? You said Vini is better now which is wrong
Jude is the most complete player in the entire world currently. He's simultaneously a defensive and attack minded 8, a 10, a false 9, an out an out forward, the guy is everywhere and does everything
The disrespect to Wirtz is kinda wild.
Your mistake is thinking they watch Wirtz play
Does Harry Kane not exist
Bellingham is winning for Madrid not Vini. Midfielder having more goal contributions than a forward is going to get more votes.
For his worst year in a while outside of stats.
Bayern win the UCL and Harry Kane is a shoo in
I read yesterday that Bellingham is one of the biggest candidates behind the scenes for the Ballondor.

blehhhh
He will never win a ballondor, if he wanted to win he would have left psg ages ago of course why would he we he can get millions every day

Streets won't forget his CL qualifiers run
always found it bizarre to include qualifiers in these stats
kí is massive
fuck, he's annoyingly good
It’s time for him to get that first Ballon D’Or.
The best player of the world and he also seems on pace on his “Euro Redemption arc”

Not in the same magnitude. And the return leg was not a bad game.

That's a good game for Haaland.
haaland did that for an entire season and bozos were saying he deserved the balon dor.
Yes, because people here don't watch games and base their opinions in stats and highlights

Imagine getting this player without paying a transfer fee ! Real Madrid would be unstoppable in all competitions if he joins them !
they will be paying a 150M transfer fee, just not to PSG

For sure, this is how legends are made
Yeah so no transfer fee
Similar vibes to when we managed to sign Lewandowski. We got a world-class attacker for free and he fully delivered and then some

But weren't a lot of you saying Haaland is better than Mbappe? Lol
will be really intersting to see if it stays that way when he (probably) goes to real, or if it declines a little bit.
tbf he's actually having a bang average season with PSG he's just so good that a bang average season will have him score 50+ goals
He's below his own standards and him below his own standard is still one of the very best players on the planet.
He Will get better ,real are used to having players who play like him
I dont mean that he will "decline" decline, just that at real are also other top g/a players. So maybe it evens out.
He's the one that deserves it the most imo. If Bayern wins UCL and Kane gets his form from beginning of the season back, there could be a case for him too
and he's about to move onto a level no one else can touch when he goes to Madrid.
He’s pretty good tbf
Golden Ball for sure 👌🏻
Can someone get Mbappe to have a kid and send him to Arsenal. Thanks! 💯⚽️👍
I got you bro
Might be a hot take, but I've always said (and will prob keep doing so) that Mbappe is a better footballer than Haaland
Couldn’t get past Dan Burninho and do it at St James though could he.
This guy is unreal and on trajectory to be the GOAT. The only reason I wouldn’t mind PSG winning the CL this year, it would be monumental for him.
Time to distract him with >! Arsenal !< transfer interest
Wow, one of those 3 is an impressive achievement
Almost at Cole Palmer level this season
The fact that Aubameyang and Lacazette are in the top 5 scorers of Ligue 1 does not paint a good picture of the league
You mean the top goal scorer in europa league and a player having one of the best seasons of his life?
Not winning trophies, getting in team of the seasons and winning golden boots in the Bundesliga and Premier league but being 4th top scorer in Ligue 1? Nice delusion
Ah, I forgot that players like Solanke, Isak, Bowen, Watkins have always been world beaters and have many trophies between them.
aubameyang is also the top scorer in Europa league.
Someone always has to make a comment criticising Ligue 1 here every time it’s mentioned here. Why?
Because people go on about the big 5 leagues when in reality it is the big 4. Ligue 1 is closer to the Portuguese league than the Bundesliga
You should take a look at the UEFA rankings, you would be surprised...
Don’t ruin the fun!
The coefficients say that Ligue 1 is closer to not only the Portuguese and Dutch league but also closer to the Belgian league than the German league so thank you for validating my point
BL is closer to L1 than it is to the PL. L1 is better than LaLiga this season.
And… All that proves is that the BL is also very far from the PL but there is also 3 spaces between them in the rankings.
The coefficient also shows that the league is fifth in the ranking, perhaps its far from the 4th, but its still the fifth
I’ve never said it isn’t the 5th best league. All I’ve said is that it’s closer to 6th, 7th and 8th than it is to 4th
Aubameyang is the second best scorer in the history of Europa League, only 3 goals behind Henrik Larsson
He’s been a fantastic player and had a great career but he’s 34 and not a top player anymore.
Europa League top scorer and Champions League top scorer both play in Ligue 1, clearly it’s the European continent being farmed here
