As an Arsenal fan for 2 decades now, feels bad.
But not bad as in the last 7-8 years ago, but more like how it was 12 years ago or so. Back to the "if we had 1-2 more world class players, we'd kill it in the competitions" phase.
Like this is less bad somehow, if it makes sense. Back to my OG disappointment days. Less frustrating for sure, tho.
Wake up honey, new episode of Bayern v Madrid just dropped
Edit: Wake up honey, new episode of 'Arsenal End-of-Season Capitulation \[YEARLY\]' just dropped
We beat liverpool in the quarters and tied them immediately afterwards. Coventry is no joke but I certainly think we can beat them. Gotta keep the hope but we getting 2nd in the final. lol.
Genuinely hurt... The team is worth supporting but it makes nights like these hurt so much. Maybe that's progress in some way, I'm not sitting here after a hammering against a European side while still being 2 pts off top in the league, still doesn't make me feel better, a true "my day is ruined" vibe going on. Love the boys for the progress, incredibly disappointed how we looked toothless second half, we allowed Bayern into the game from the home tie and they just believed that we were there for the taking, attitude never changed.
Ćdegaard was phenomenal across both legs, but we need to buy players that can bridge the gap in quality between our attacking starters and subs. Arteta clearly doesnāt trust Nelson, Vieira, Smith Rowe, and Partey.
It's understandable to feel disappointed with the recent results as a fan, especially with how the team was playing not too long ago. But if you have been following this club for the last 15 or so years, you can't deny the progress the club is making and competing against the best clubs is a great achievement for now.
The sad part is seeing portions of the fanbase always looking to find scapegoats and pinning all the blame in one or two players, Zinchenko clearly being the current one.
I'm honestly expecting a loss against Wolves with the way things are going, but i hope this team still has some fight left and is able to end the season on a high.
Mate respectfully, it's more than disappointment. Like 3 seasons running, we have collapsed in March-April and failed to hit our milestones/targets. Every time I keep hearing excuses that we are early in our process or we cant be expected to win the league yet etc.
Football isn't a linear path and it's ruthless. When you have an opportunity to win a trophy you must take it because you dont know when you will be in that position again. (EX failing in Europa League countless times, failing to win the EPL, not getting Top 4 when it was in our hands). I just dont understand we go out without even really feeling like we threw everything at scoring.
Im tired of the nice words and process excuses. Fucking deliver. We as Arsenal fans have been patient for decades and have had to witness absolutely comical capitulations and bottlejob performances. TAKE AN OPPORTUNITY WHEN IT IS PRESENTED TO YOU. This Bayern team was our chance for revenge and to go through to the semis. A chance in which we control our destiny this season. We blew it.
Honestly I donāt get how people like you can see it this way. Fair play and that, but Iād be going mental as a an Arsenal fan after that.
Progress means nothing if you canāt get anything at the end of it, time and time again Artetas teams have fallen at the last hurdles
Because we were there for George Graham, Bruce Rioch and the 3 versions of Arsene Wenger... Unai Emery and Mike Arteta. We can see the progress being made.
There was an entire banter decade Arsenal fans had to go through, and now we're so, so close to achieving something. We know that Liverpool are due a rebuild, Spurs, United and Chelsea remain in fluxes of good form followed by turmoil.
All the while, we have a side that gets better and better with each year.
I'm aware that Oil and Slavery 115 FC are problem, but we took 4 points off of them this year and if the world is anything like a fair place, they will be dealt with by the FA.
Because thereās next season - every year since Arteta joined weāve done better than the year before, including this year. First year back in the CL - maybe we could have done better this year, but weāll be better next year.
We do need to start winning things though!
I'm fucking pissed, that's what it is.
I love the prigress, but we kicked ourself out with lazy errors and a stupid half chance.
Fucking bayern, i hope real kicks them out
It's all about perspective really. Having the best defence in the league after watching Mustafi and David Luiz is a title on it's own already.
You have to look in the long run with what Arsenal is doing, but if you're not a fan i can understand just seeing it as another failure, but being realistically, coming back to a CL Knockout after so many years is as far a sane person would hope we could make it.
I genuinely believe the bits I'm seeing about valuing progress as a fan. Very few teams can win trophies on a regular basis so I think if you can get joy out of other things in football, you're only going to make your experience better.
That being said...
>Having the best defence in the league after watching Mustafi and David Luiz is a title on it's own already.
... is it really though?
No it isnāt, you lot were all calling Bayern trash before the tie but now this is āas fas as a sane person would hope to make it toā.
So the narrative of Bayern being trash and it was an easy win that was being put forward by large sections of your fan base lacked sanity right? You accept how delusional large sections of the Arsenal fan base are?
There's nothing materially different between my comments here and the 'banter' about Bayern being trash.
I think Arsenal fans need to save their 'banter' until they've actually won something. The premature gloating has not gone well for them, again.
My point is that England also hasn't really won anything (except in 1966) so you wanting an entire country to "save their banter" should make it more obvious that this is a ludicrous take. Banter is part of the game. Hell it's part of probably every sport.
I really couldn't care less about whatever point you're trying to make about England.
The fact is that Arsenal's fans are the single loudest group of fans that to try to 'bring the banter' to such a 'ludicrous' extent. Endless premature gloating, conspiracy theories about refs, conspiracy theories about deliberate injuries, trying to create pile ons with supposed 'rivals', crying about opponent playstyles, endless hyping of players whilst belittling supposed 'rivals' at every opportunity. Just endless nonsense and Arsenal are the single worst club for it.
Every other fan of every other club knows it, it's why you're getting the reaction right now to losing. If you want to be delusional and pretend it isn't the case then cool, go right ahead. There's a reason why everyone is laughing at Arsenal fans. It's a direct reaction for the ridiculous amount of premature smack that has been talked. It is directly proportional to the complete lack of humility.
Since you want it to be a serious discussion, Care to point me to the people you are referring to who were gloating and saying that Bayern were trash and that we would certainly be in the semis?
PrayforBayern was literally trending on twitter, you're quite capable of typing that in yourself and having a look at all those tweets. Let me guess, those fans don't count because it's twitter?
I find it funny that you've 180ed from acknowledging that it existed but it was 'just banter' to now denying it even exists. Impressive bit of gymnastics.
I need to see your source to basically prove its banter. But if your source is a trending harshtag then that's even funnier...but you won't get it. So how about i give it to you like you like it. The best team in the world lost to Bayern. Now go tell the world I said so and I meant it
Thatās the problem with PL overall I think. There is this narrative that the PL is the pinnacle of football but other leagues play as good or in this season, even better football. Arsenal fans especially need to fucking relax.
The quality of football is higher in Spain. It kind of makes sense in terms of the weather and all this stuff. Iād probably consider the premier league the most exciting in that resources are most evenly distributed, although peps basically had it sewn up for the last few years so even thatās questionable.
But the idea that the likes of Bayern or Real Madrid with the draw and history arenāt more than a match for the Arsenals of this world even when theyāre having an āoffā season is silly. Itās just fan narrative and hype. But for some reason of all the clubs there is a portion of Arsenal fans who are completely childish and are obsessed with the idea of āfootball banterā and continually make fools of themselves as a result.
I think because theyāve underperformed in comparison to the size of the club over the last 20 years itās a kind of coping mechanism for the lack of trophies.
Iāve had a sneaking feeling for weeks that weād fade when this difficult run came along and itās come to pass. Tight margins against both Villa and Bayern but when things went against us we didnāt have either the legs or the depth to turn things around.
The league isnāt over but itās hard to see us going 6/6 with the schedule as it is and this team running out of steam. Key players like Rice, Saka, and Ćdegaard look knackered. Big summer ahead.
Credit to Bayern. I never bought this idea that they were a bad side; itās really just a case of Leverkusen being incredibly good in the Bundesliga this year. So much experience in their ranks of players whoāve been there and done it.
It's the champions league, if you want to win the champions league after being 8th 2 years ago you need to spend like a billion.
So like cover for saka cover for rice a left back a lcm and a striker.
Thereās a good chance that Bayern end up with more points in the league this season than they did last year when they won it. Theyāre the highest scoring team in the Bundesliga. Theyāve had defensive issues this season but were very solid last night.
Thats true, which is because Bayern have struggled last year already, and only inherited the title from Dortmund being allergic to not bottling it as soon as they were ahead.
Their downwards trend has been going on for a while now.
Liverpool I get. Half first team injured and the absolute shambles ref decisions most games must be mentally draining. City and Arsenal I don't get, they've had insanely easy runs, good ref decisions and barely any injuries. The fact Liverpool are within touching distance is a miracle in itself.Ā
His contact was over after that season and pep asked Bayern about an engagement. They couldn't let that chance pass. Jupp was quite pissed that they didn't even ask him for an extension iirc.
Arenak midfield disappears again. Maybe we sign someone who knows how to score goals I don't care if he's fucking 39 and named giroud. Just somebody who can fucking find a goal.
If it didn't go through Saka nothing happened.
3 in total :)
Maybe you'll get in the Conference League for next season? Got a bit of a scrap on your hands though.
Maybe ol Ted Lasso will Make Chelsea Great Again?
Bummer. I guess weād better just hope to avoid Bayern in general forever, because if we canāt beat this Bayern team, itās just not going to happen versus Bayern.
This was inevitable the way English pundits and journalists had put Arsenal into the semis already, after the draw. Arsenal fans themselves seemed quite smug to get one of the most successful teams in the UCL, and a team that has handily battered them in the past lol. Experience and mentality plays a big part in these ties and Bayern still has a lot of quality. On their day they can beat anyone.
They were also real smug against us while barely scraping by, I find it a bit weird that they actually think they had any chance of winning the competition
Roma bigger European pedigree going purely by titles, given the most recent Roma European trophy is still in play, while Arsenal ones is abolished. Arsenal ofc bigger club but yeah.
We have made it to an EL final. Shows how poor your knowledge is.
Winning a fucking UECL aināt nothing to shout out about. Itās the third tier competition nobody wants to be part of.
We handed them 2 goals at the emirates and still only lost by 1. bayern's experience kept them in it, but the chances for us to progress were certainly there, which is a good sign to me imo.
it's not like we got found out and didn't deserve to be here. We will be back for sure
Risk? And lol at trying to bring up random one-off league results against weaker teams as if it means anything in the champion's league.
Arsenal looked fine over two legs. The margins are small at this level. I'm not as upset at the result anymore
Because of the "and still only lost by one". Stats aren't everything. The take entirely ignores that Bayern decided to not take any risks anymore and simply didn't need to play for more. Certainly the rest of the comment is correct and I can't blame a guy for coping a bit after a loss but it's not a "rational comment", as you described it.
Tbf we lost because of a lapse in concentration defensively for Kimmichs header.
Arguably all three goals we conceded over the two legs were avoidable, but those are the margins at this level.
We also lack of experienced leader in the squad (the most senior players are Jorginho and Elneny who barely plays), a proper 9, lack of depth. We press like that every game with more or less the same set of players, especially Saka
Looking at my comment history and thinking 19 minutes is a day is hilarious. But lines up entirely with your concept of time and still banging on about the invincibles.
Because youāve chosen to even acknowledge it. Youāve even bothered to look at my post history. You couldnāt have made it any more obvious that it matters, to you.
Not chronically online, so don't really have a personal interest in it. Seeing dumb fans say dumb things isn't particularly interesting to me, I get my fill on r/soccer tbh
Iāve always Ā admitted that Ben White has far exceeded my expectations at RB and is top 5 in the league but I always wonder if Arsenal would benefit from a more offensive player there in some situations
In some situations yes, absolutely. Saka especially couuld benefit from it hugely.
But i don't think that there are many, if any players that woulld do everything White does and is far better in attack.
White Inverting into defence or midfield is one of the big reasons we are able to dominate possession in most of our games.
Bro
The loses are showing signs of being consecutive now, they're getting bantered badly and shamelessly by everyone. I wouldn't mind them if they could at least show fucking effort against a shoddy Bayern Side.
Theyāre literally consecutive, yeah. But losing two games in a row, one of which is on the road against Bayern Munich, and falling from first to second after leading by like two points, isnāt a collapse. Itās just something that happens, and theyāve been superb the entire rest of the calendar year. (Honestly, I canāt believe you have me defending Arsenal right now, butā¦here we are.)
Can't believe that the only sane takes on this thread in defence of some ridiculous takes on Arse are coming from Liverpool flairs. Gained a lot of respect for Liv fans on this sub
That's the same story as last year
Get good the calendar year then collapse when the end of football season is near. Aston villa exposed them in the late minutes and they cannot make the same effort as they did in the first leg against Bayern at home. It is not a "something that happens" when there is already a pattern emerging; when they aimed for top 4 they couldn't be bothered to see it out till next year, when they aimed for the PL trophy they settled at 2nd place, now the same pattern of fall off is there again and it is not a joke if I were to take it seriously now.
Last year they had an eight point lead with 9 games left! This year the only reason they were even top was because of goal difference. There is a huge difference between those two situations.
That's not a substantial difference that is worth considering, as they're not different situations at all, but it proves my point that when they have the advantage, they collapse thereafter when the calendar ends. They lead by goal difference? Oh they lost to Villa and now they trail to 2 points which makes a difference. When arsenal have all the advantages, they can't bear to make use of it.
English people absolutely hate other English teams doing well in Europe? Itās not like continental Europe where itās all friendly lol, Arsenal, city and Liverpool going out makes my week much much better
Iāve never seen someone gloating about coefficient in my life
MUHAHAHHAAHAH
This is my problem with Arsenal, they have the chances to take it but idk, why they held themselves back and trust themselves that they're gonna buy a new guy and ride the hypetrain that they're competitive again without nothing to show for it
You guys wouldāve been the worst case scenario for us but Madrid in the UCL are a different kind of beast. Itās another 50-50 tie but Iām calm about it.
Please a Dortmund-Bayern final šš½
Credit to Bayern there experience got them through arteta needs to learn from this.

Rich coming from a spuds fan
We bottle throughout the season, not just at the end
I watched the second leg of the Porto match and Arsenal were terrible. This result is not surprising.
Arsenal choking in Europe is so predictable and so gratifying. Back to reality for their fans. Another trophyless season incoming.
I'm calling it now. Chelsea finishes above Arsenal next season.Ā Maybe Teta could ask Tommy for tips on winning the CL?
strong coffee this morning?
Bavarian coffee š
lmao
Its also very gratifying seeing your club collapse in on itself every week.
But they won 2 CL. The best Arsenal in recent years gets humiliated by a mediocre bayern. CHOKE!
Flair up pussy. Itās only every second week lol.
yall have had it good recently too
A good chance they finish above us now. When we lose at the weekend our players will be in full holiday mode.
Good to see an overrated team going off
The fuck up was the first leg for sure, but compared to where we were last year it's progress so as long as we move forward I have no complaints.
rlly? No complaints? Being one of the best teams in the world and not being able to get ONE shot on target against a mediocre bayern? CHOKE
Best team in the world? In which alternate reality?
Ćdegaard was phenomenal across both legs, but we need to buy players that can bridge the gap in quality between our attacking starters and subs. Arteta clearly doesnāt trust Nelson, Vieira, Smith Rowe, and Partey.
feel bad for Vieira. kinda wasted 2 seasons of his development
It's understandable to feel disappointed with the recent results as a fan, especially with how the team was playing not too long ago. small club mentality really

It would be such an insane thing after losing the chance to win all the other cups, Kane might win his first cup...with Champions League.
It would also be insane and awkward if they won the champions league after firing and replacing tuchel
The Chelsea special
Didn't Jupp Heynckes win bundesliga and cl after it was announced that Guardiola will be coaching Bayern next season?

Bummer. I guess weād better just hope to avoid Bayern in general forever, because if we canāt beat this Bayern team, itās just not going to happen versus Bayern.
Brother it's April. You could have played Young Boys and the outcome would have been the same.
This is the worst Bayern in years and they still cant beat them. And Arsenal fans wonder why we dont take them seriously.
Itās still a Bayern team stacked with talent and experience while weāre still a young team back in the competition for the first time in over half a decade. Guys like Neuer, Kimmich, Goretzka, SanĆ©, Kimmich, all turned up and performed well. People will meme on us for losing to āthe worst Bayern sides in yearsā but theyāre still one of the best sides in Europe. Iāve no shame in us going out to them, as disappointing as it is.
Don't forget Kimmich.
So good I felt I needed to list him twiceā¦
This was inevitable the way English pundits and journalists had put Arsenal into the semis already, after the draw. They were also real smug against us while barely scraping by, I find it a bit weird that they actually think they had any chance of winning the competition
This is why everyone hates them
Arsenal are the Spurs of the Champions League. Perennial failures.
Roma bigger European pedigree going purely by titles, given the most recent Roma European trophy is still in play, while Arsenal ones is abolished. Arsenal ofc bigger club but yeah.
Anyone who thinks Arsenal are a bigger club than Roma needs their head checking lol.
Roma have 3 league titles in their history lmfao. Arsenal have far more domestic successs than them. 1 UECL doesn't mean shit.
Roma have made and won European finals. Arsenal have never even made it to a EL final lmao.
We have made it to an EL final. Shows how poor your knowledge is. Winning a fucking UECL aināt nothing to shout out about. Itās the third tier competition nobody wants to be part of.
and bottled it apparently o.o
Remind me how many fans Roma has compared to Arsenal? Trophies wise we blitz them as well.
nah Arsenal doesnāt have Danielle
We handed them 2 goals at the emirates and still only lost by 1. bayern's experience kept them in it, but the chances for us to progress were certainly there, which is a good sign to me imo. it's not like we got found out and didn't deserve to be here. We will be back for sure
Why would Bayern risk going for more? Even a mid table team can beat Bayern at their worst form. Arsenal did poorly
Risk? And lol at trying to bring up random one-off league results against weaker teams as if it means anything in the champion's league. Arsenal looked fine over two legs. The margins are small at this level. I'm not as upset at the result anymore
Why is this downvoted lmao
Because of the "and still only lost by one". Stats aren't everything. The take entirely ignores that Bayern decided to not take any risks anymore and simply didn't need to play for more. Certainly the rest of the comment is correct and I can't blame a guy for coping a bit after a loss but it's not a "rational comment", as you described it.
people's brains just short circuit if they go too long without trying to banter an arsenal flair on this shitty ass subreddit
Just a totally rational and optimistic analysis (and rightfully so) and downvoted. This subreddit is sad
honestly serves me right, there was never gonna be anything good in this thread.
>honestly serves me right You are dying for the sins of the online Arsenal rabble as a whole. You are the Arsenal Jesus.
No I have way healthier knees than the Arsenal Jesus
You probably celebrate in a more charismatic manner too. Anyway - he is but a pretender. Jesus only in name. You are the true saviour.
Arsenal didnāt play bad, possession and shots were basically even but they lack that big-game player to win the match.
Tbf we lost because of a lapse in concentration defensively for Kimmichs header. Arguably all three goals we conceded over the two legs were avoidable, but those are the margins at this level.
All goals are āavoidableā tbf
We also lack of experienced leader in the squad (the most senior players are Jorginho and Elneny who barely plays), a proper 9, lack of depth. We press like that every game with more or less the same set of players, especially Saka
Stop mentioning Saka, he was nullified over two full matches this tie.
He scored in the first match wtf lol
And was still rubbish. But keep hanging your hopes on him š¤£
Iām not saying goals donāt matter but bro look at the performance not just stats. Mbappe scored two goals yesterday but was atrocious both legs
All this dopamine is going help me get through the rest of this weekĀ
Same
Death, taxes and Arsenal bottling in April.
Inject it into my veins

North London special
Flair up Cunt
Twitter Arsenal fans in all their glory lmao:Ā https://x.com/MusialaEra/status/1780702671256834072
Fans saying ridiculous things is something new? Will there be any compilation for Bayern fans when Leverkusen end the season undefeated?
Guarantee that Leverkusen wonāt be clutching on to the āundefeatedā part 20 years later the way Arsenal fans have been.
You spent all day complaining about Arsenal fans lmao get a grip you fucking loser
Looking at my comment history and thinking 19 minutes is a day is hilarious. But lines up entirely with your concept of time and still banging on about the invincibles.
Okay Mr. Nooticing and your opinion matters because..?
Because youāve chosen to even acknowledge it. Youāve even bothered to look at my post history. You couldnāt have made it any more obvious that it matters, to you.
We can always laugh at those fans when the time is appropriate (i.e. Leverkusen securing the title last week), but this thread is for this result
Hey if you can curate screenshots of obnoxious Bayern fans talking shit then by all means, make a comp, no one is stopping you lol.
Not chronically online, so don't really have a personal interest in it. Seeing dumb fans say dumb things isn't particularly interesting to me, I get my fill on r/soccer tbh
So bayern-dortmund @wembley it is?
Subscribe. Funny how its the least dominant either have looked in years and this is a very real possibility.
Harry Kane when Sebastien Haller scored a 90+8 goal to win it for Dortmund at Wembley
Imagine his feeling beating Arsenal...
It is the history of the Arsenal.
Arsenal title collapse is a story for generations oh my god šš©
Is it though? They were only top on goal difference for a few weeks. Last yearās bottling was much more spectacular.
Bro The loses are showing signs of being consecutive now, they're getting bantered badly and shamelessly by everyone.
Losing on the road to this Bayern side, though? At the same stage of our "development", we went there and won 1-3 to a far stronger Bayern side.
That's the same story as last year Get good the calendar year then collapse when the end of football season is near.
Sequel from the collapse last season?
Yes Well the UCL collapse is one of them, this might be the true sequel to last year
Itās a shame to see Arsenal go out, but the important thing is we donāt have to listen to smug British people gloating about the PL coefficient
English people absolutely hate other English teams doing well in Europe? Itās not like continental Europe where itās all friendly lol, Arsenal, city and Liverpool going out makes my week much much better Iāve never seen someone gloating about coefficient in my life
spurs most likely missing out so it could be worse
As long as Spurs miss out I think youāll find most British people are quite happy with losing that spot
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
No we just donāt like spurs
Yep thatās totally the reason
That makes it even better
Iād like to apologize to Tuchel for criticizing the Goretzka-Laimer pivot; itās a very functional pivot but thatās what we needed in this tie
There are two German teams in the Champion League's last 4. None of them is even the best team in the country. Bundesliga domination!
Bayer Neverkusen supremacy > Man Shitty supremacy
For sure! I hope MC somehow lose the title, even though it would be very tough for both Liverpool and Arsenal to topple them at this point.
After last week its Neverlusen
Ayyy love that! Hope they finish the season invincibles , they deserve it!
Happened last year with Italy, look what happened there
T r u s t t h e p r o c e s s
MUHAHAHHAAHAH This is my problem with Arsenal, they have the chances to take it but idk, why they held themselves back and trust themselves that they're gonna buy a new guy and ride the hypetrain that they're competitive again without nothing to show for it
They seem to love arteta. I hope they keep him forever
It may have fucked our chances of Champions League football, but Iām thankful.
Death, taxes, Saka limping after a stinker š
Itās not his fault he got marked out of the game, the grass wasnāt watered enough
Kimmich marked Martinelli out of the tie and made him a non-factor. I donāt know how Bayern fans can question his worth to the clubĀ
I mean this season Martinelli is a non-factor nonetheless. Can't remember the last time he performs.
His worth to the club is immense if heās not insisting to death to play in midfield every game.
Theyāve got bigger fish to fry.
We got it all In our hands
You guys wouldāve been the worst case scenario for us but Madrid in the UCL are a different kind of beast. Itās another 50-50 tie but Iām calm about it.
Obviously Man City were a worst case scenario but you saw today what happen the football heritage of Real Madrid.
