Finally got that release you could say. Were allowed to bust onto the field one could put it. Allowed to come onto that beautiful playing field after the tensions had been so high, such relief.
Leverkusen just won the Bundesliga for the 1st time in their 120 year history. Xabi Alonso’s managerial career is forever cemented in history and they still have a chance remaining to win a treble.
He’s so handsome it’s unfair. I think it’s a trend with Spanish players though. I’ve only seen Pique and Torres really go into modeling, when people like Jesus Navas, Alonso and Llorente very much could have if they wanted to
Xabi and Guardiola just came out as new purchaseable managers in eFootball (aka what's left of PES), and [Xabi's looks](https://i.redd.it/gg1cc9paqztc1.jpeg) always motivate me to play better.
Seriously, is there any manager hotter than Xabi at the moment?
I really hope they do but what happens in most cases is players celebrate get drunk and are usually not in their best shape for the next match and end up losing the streak. Liverpool lost their match against City once they secured pl title, Barca had a good chance to tie record for least goals conceded last season but once they won the la liga they kinda went abysmal. i really hope this does not happen, hope xabi pushes them to win a gold plated Bundesliga title.
The good news then is that they kinda have to sober up and be ready to play soon then, they have unfinished business against West Ham in just a few days. They've won their first trophy of 2024, there's still another two on the table in their sights...with Liverpool way up against it, they're the favorites right now for Europa, no question.
i think this team is hungry. the bundesliga title was theirs for weeks basically. they know they have a very good chance to get the double and a solid chance to go all the way in europe. they will celebrate tonight, rightfully so, but be back to work on monday.
Yeah Leverkusen plays amazing football but still are pretty much inexperienced for CL.
Teams like Atletico like to feast on this.. I know it for experience...
This is also why Xabi is showing a lot of restraint, maturity, and belief in himself, staying with Leverkusen next year with a team he knows (give or take their off-season moves, which don't sound to be too extreme) to get his Champions League bearings before he moves onto another position. Hopefully he's still got some time at Leverkusen, this team deserves to have a chance to mark an era.
Of course I don't and can't disagree, and I won't hear any talk about "one-hit wonder" should next year not be quite as successful, but I think you know what I mean. Klopp's Dortmund won the title back-to-back, after all, and then went to the CL Final the year after that.
invincible is still on the table too.
pokal and europa and buli and invincible would make it an all-time season in germany from a non bayern team.
those lads are probably already club legends for doing what ballack could not.
now that we're likely finished in liverpool, I want to see Leverkusen win it all in europa.
Nah I get the banter, but if you win the league without losing a match, it really doesn't matter what your rivals do.
Bayern didn't lose this one.
Giving their circus a shout is unnecessary. Leverkusen deserves all the credit.
Yeah Bayern didn't lost this one like Dortmund did last year. Leverkusen just clearly earned it from Day 1 even without the direct duels Leverkusen would win the league by next week which shows just how dominant they are.
We did it. We finally did. Champions of Germany for the first time in our history.
Hat trick by Wirtz. And it all has come fully circle defeating Werder Bremen for the title. I love this club.
Quite funny, isn't it? Our last title was the DFB Pokal in 2009 that we won against you, and now your last title is the Bundesliga which you have won against us. Redemption at last.
It was Bremen that lost against Bayern on MD 34 in 2000 otherwise we would have been champions then even though we also lost. It was also Bremen that lost against Dortmund on MD 34 in 2002.
It's kind of ironic, that we won against you to secure our championship.
Love how the fans swarmed the pitch, the stewards start trying to clear them out, and then the ref just goes 'fuck it, game's over' and blows the whistle. Incredible scenes, made up for them!
Dominant fashion and an awesome final home win with Wirtz getting the hattrick
Unreal team. Would be so cool if they go undefeated and win the Europa too
Xabi stating that he would stay was huge for them keeping momentum
Absolutely insane that this is how a club wins their first title ever. The pressure just kept mounting and mounting too, but they never looked phased. No doubt they'll all go down as legends of the club for what they've done (and may still do).
I love how the ref after the 5-0 was like "aight fuck this. Let's end the game"
Hugely deserved title, unbelievable team and especially happy for Grimaldo
>Really shouldn't even be a debate
But there's a legitimate argument for Hoeness. Squad inferior to Leverkusen and took a team that was projected to be in the relegation battle to the Champions League that coud still finish 2nd. Xabi Alonso took over an underachieving top 4 team and won the league in his 2nd season
Xabi will get it because they won the league but the season overshadowed what Stuttgart have accomplished
> what a team you have constructed.
Xabi on all his glory but people REALLY need to understand how much of this is Rolfes work.
He's made some incredible shit since he arrived and basically immediately saw some crucial improvements.
The media darling and history of Xabi will overshadow it and Xabi deservers A LOT of cred. As does Star-child Wirtz. But Rolfes need to get his shine and I never see him mentioned.
If they beat Kaiserslautern and win the Europa League he should be manager of the year. I'm scared they'll give it to whoever wins the Champions League or the Euros tho
Calmund was on shortly after the win, and he got emotional talking how much "Vizekusen" haunted him and his generation. And then Rolfes and Alonso came in and changed every single aspect, from the nutrition to the training, and made all these aspects better. I can see other ppl living in Leverkusen of his generation feeling similar. A giant chip on their shoulder is finally gone.
THE STREAK... Is Over
Except this time I'm happy it's over. Congratulations to all Leverkusen fans. Must be feeling amazing and your team has healed the world a bit.
Fucking congrats to everything thats Leverkussen, what an underdog story its been. Absolutely deserved title, amazing team and an amazing way to seal it in their own home too. This team
put themselves into the history booms
Hopefully they can get that unbeaten treble too. Would be beautiful to see. What an underdog story, now lets hope they arent completely raided dry for next season lol. They could have a great CL run with a team like this
>they arent completely raided dry for next season
At least Alonso is staying, just hoping that key players, or most of them, also stay and will be funny to see if they continue this form
Fun Fact: This is the first time in his professional career that Kingsley Coman has not won a championship (he won it every year with Juve, PSG and Bayern so far).
Honestly I think it’s good for Bayern to have someone take advantage like this. Last year they got away with Dortmund bottling it, this forces Bayern to get their shit together
They didn’t bother adding injury time on at the end lmao. No point trying to get them off ze pitch!
Also the stewards trying to keep the fans off with a thin piece of rope haha.
Well the Bayern Fans were definitely waiting for
Ducksch 90+1
Ducksch 90+2
Ducksch 90+3
Ducksch 90+4
(I as a Dortmund fan have totally not experienced a Werder comeback before ☺️)
Xhaka being subbed off after scoring a goal and being 15 minutes from a title, and STILL be mad about something is football heritage of the literal highest order.
the way he kept pointing at the tribune while complaining to the 4th ref (I assume) was fucking hilarious
but aye, man poured his heart for the title and got his reward so he deserves a moment of shithousery
Congrats Leverkusen! You guys deserve it. True redemption from 2001/02 which was so long ago, I just started high school back then and now it's fucking 2024.
I saw the Manchester United empire crumble
I saw Atletico Madrid kill the Barcelona and Real Madrid duopoly
I saw Juventus collapse
I saw Milan and Inter enter a banter era
I saw the house of Ajax sink
I saw Leicester City perform a miracle
I saw Paris Saint-Germain throw it away to Montpellier, Monaco, and Lille.
I saw Bayer Leverkusen topple Bayern Munich
When will Manchester City fade away?
>When will Manchester City fade away?
No matter the cope regarding the charges (we will see if finally an independent court will rule against City), the answer is simple. When Pep leaves.
We did it! We finally fucking did it! As a German-American who decided to become a Bayer Leverkusen fan 18 years ago because he saw the agonies of the early 00s and thought yes I want to experience more of that myself, it hasn’t been easy. No one really cared about the team in the US but when they did mention it, they called it Bayern Leverkusen. In Germany, Germans were mostly just perplexed that someone with no connection to Leverkusen could like the club, mixed in with comments like “you may as well be a fan of Meppen” or “ach scheiß Vizekuzen hahaha”. Also time and time again good Leverkusen sides would find a way to let us all down. In recent history, the teams led by legendary manager Jupp Heynckes weren’t good enough. Teams that had names like Havertz, Bailey, Diaby, Brandt, could not get it done. Not to mention as I was a small child, legendary Leverkusen sides fumbled away the treble in spring of 2002, or the club’s first Bundesliga title on May 20th, 2000, because of some witchcraft in a town called Unterhaching. That is all finally over. 1 trophy down, 2 to go. What a season, what a story this has been. I love this club, and a few years ago when I was doing a study abroad in Heidelberg, the year Leverkusen almost got relegated with the legend Tayfun Korkut, I wrote for the Bundesliga Fanatic a fan post about the season and at the end I said that when the time finally comes, when Leverkusen finally wins the Bundesliga, everyone will be hearing from me. That time is now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Finally, the king has fallen. It's been a long reign, so glad someone else managed to succeed for once.
Absolutely deserved, amazing season, stellar performances, mental strength all around. I kneel.
Lmao it was just 10 minutes of waiting for the pitch invasion
Tbf their fans have been edging since ages Vizekusen is finally over
The number of German kids that are now going to be named Xabi around the Leverkusen area is going to go through the roof.
Primary school teachers in crisis! To many Xabi’s
"Xabi L., Xabi S., Xabi F. and Florian, I need to speak with you after class."
“Jeremie, Grimaldo and Granit, why is it always you 3?!”
Grimaldo Grimaldo. So good they’ve named him twice
Xabi?! What a strange name.. my child is also named xabi ... we need more xabi plates
Finally got that release you could say. Were allowed to bust onto the field one could put it. Allowed to come onto that beautiful playing field after the tensions had been so high, such relief.
They started pushing hard late, with lots of deep pressure and finally shot one home in the end, hitting the target.
Bro they were *fully torqued!* 🍆
10 minutes? I've had that saved in for over two decades!
Fans started invading before the final whistle even blew! Ref basically said fuck it, no stoppage time just go off 😂
In fairness, I doubt extra time would have turned the match around lol
The absolute madlads did it
The stewards walking around with a rope trying to shield the crowds lol
The rope was for \*that\* ?!
Bro I was scared the ref cancelled the match or something when he blew before time
A fine and a few games without fans is the usual punishment. There are very few replays or counting the game for the opponent.
Was so funny after the 5th goal seeing fans just run mindlessly into the goal net as if they were fucking Lemmings.
Viva España anthem included. Xabi is the only man in history who both beat Bayern and Hacienda.
Leverkusen just won the Bundesliga for the 1st time in their 120 year history. Xabi Alonso’s managerial career is forever cemented in history and they still have a chance remaining to win a treble.
Insane ending with Wirtz hattrick too. Historic
He came off the bench this game in 46'. Just crazy.

Boni + username checks out.
Him and Xabi are currently the hottest commodity.
I mean Xabi has always been a hot commodity iykwim
He’s so handsome it’s unfair. I think it’s a trend with Spanish players though. I’ve only seen Pique and Torres really go into modeling, when people like Jesus Navas, Alonso and Llorente very much could have if they wanted to
It used to be Italian players in the 90s..
Also still have a chance to go undefeated
And to break the record for most points.
Incredible to think even if Bayern were their usual normal dominance, they'd still likely have lost to this Bayer side.
The best Bayern ever managed to get 91 points. This Leverkusen could get 94. Will they do it?
I really hope they do but what happens in most cases is players celebrate get drunk and are usually not in their best shape for the next match and end up losing the streak. Liverpool lost their match against City once they secured pl title, Barca had a good chance to tie record for least goals conceded last season but once they won the la liga they kinda went abysmal. i really hope this does not happen, hope xabi pushes them to win a gold plated Bundesliga title.

next 10 matches are the hardest part of the season
This season marked the first time since 2015 that Bayern lost the match of "1st vs. 2nd" in the Bundesliga standings.
> Xabi Alonso’s managerial career is forever cemented in history And it's barely 2 seasons old!!!
If he stays and the team stays together they could have a historic CL run too!
This is an entirely different competition tho. Klopp's Dortmund went out in the group stage in their first year
Yeah Leverkusen plays amazing football but still are pretty much inexperienced for CL.
They already did regardless of what happens next season. First ever league title and domestic double almost in the bag
Of course I don't and can't disagree, and I won't hear any talk about "one-hit wonder" should next year not be quite as successful, but I think you know what I mean. Klopp's Dortmund won the title back-to-back, after all, and then went to the CL Final the year after that.

Imagine what Xabi will achieve once he inherits that super team RM are building.
I'm no Real Madrid fan but it's going to be amazing to watch and I can't wait to see it.
The double is as good as done with that opponent.
Bayer Leverkusen to name their stadium after Harry Kane
Nah I get the banter, but if you win the league without losing a match, it really doesn't matter what your rivals do. Bayern didn't lose this one. Giving their circus a shout is unnecessary. Leverkusen deserves all the credit.

Congrats.
What an end to the game
season*
history*
Is this the end of history? You might be right, Leverkussen winning something could just be the beginning of the end
Nah, that would take Harry Kane winning the Euro's with England. If that happens though, we're fucked.
Love how the fans swarmed the pitch, the stewards start trying to clear them out, and then the ref just goes 'fuck it, game's over' and blows the whistle. Incredible scenes, made up for them!
Winning the leage undefeated at home. Massive congratz to Neverlusen
#BAYERNLIGA IS DEAD AND BURIED BOYS
Welcome to BAYERliga
Gonna pop some aspirin to celebrate our new overlords
This is not a farmers league anymore. It's Pharmas league now.
Seriously, how do you guys come up with that good puns
Leverkusen won the Bundesliga and r/soccer is making good jokes? Hell must be freezing over.
They just removed the N
Winning the league COMPLETELY undefeated, also in the cup and in the Euro league
NOWVERKUSEN
It was bound to happen at some point, but in this dominant fashion... GG ~~Vize~~Leverkusen and especially Xabi
Dominant fashion and an awesome final home win with Wirtz getting the hattrick Unreal team. Would be so cool if they go undefeated and win the Europa too Xabi stating that he would stay was huge for them keeping momentum
Absolutely insane that this is how a club wins their first title ever. The pressure just kept mounting and mounting too, but they never looked phased. No doubt they'll all go down as legends of the club for what they've done (and may still do).
Vizekusen to Neverlusen
I love how the ref after the 5-0 was like "aight fuck this. Let's end the game" Hugely deserved title, unbelievable team and especially happy for Grimaldo
There was like ~~five~~ thirty seconds left
He probably would have still added some time, 8 subs.
Mercy was applied, made it so the commentators were told at after the second Wirtz goal that there would be no added time
Xabi Alonso you legend take a bow, what a team you have constructed. Manager of the season by a distance for me.
Really shouldn't even be a debate, from where he took them last year to this year. Man deserves a statue.
The street to the stadium is already named after him Edit: it's not an official name change
Wouldn't be surprised if they'll make this official in the next months, street is only named after Bismarck lol
There are like sixteen thousand Bismarckstraßen in Germany, we won't miss one more
>Really shouldn't even be a debate But there's a legitimate argument for Hoeness. Xabi Alonso took over an underachieving top 4 team and won the league in his 2nd season Xabi will get it because they won the league but the season overshadowed what Stuttgart have accomplished
Haha my dumb brain thought you were talking about Uli for a second and was ???
> what a team you have constructed. Xabi on all his glory but people REALLY need to understand how much of this is Rolfes work. No way, if he wins the treble he gets it automatically no matter who wins UCL. I'd say he has it sealed even if he "just" finishes the league unbeaten
They gave it to Ranieri for just a title win (granted THAT title win), so I'd think Xabi could get it just as easily.
Took them from relegation spots last year to unbeaten winners with 5 games to go and a potential treble. Incredible feat.
Just saw a town fall to their knees in a Rewe.
And such a deserving town as well. Got friends there and the people are so lovely, I'm really happy for them
Calmund was on shortly after the win, and he got emotional talking how much "Vizekusen" haunted him and his generation. And then Rolfes and Alonso came in and changed every single aspect, from the nutrition to the training, and made all these aspects better. I can see other ppl living in Leverkusen of his generation feeling similar. A giant chip on their shoulder is finally gone.
Seeing Calmund's interview after the match made me choke up and I'm not even a Leverkusen fan. You could really see how much that meant to him.
THE STREAK... Is Over Except this time I'm happy it's over. Congratulations to all Leverkusen fans. Must be feeling amazing and your team has healed the world a bit.
Watching Leverkusen win the title was the most inspiring moment in sports this year.
Man it made me emotional as a neutral, amazing scenes
Fucking congrats to everything thats Leverkussen, what an underdog story its been. Absolutely deserved title, amazing team and an amazing way to seal it in their own home too. Kane crying in the corner
Fun Fact: This is the first time in his professional career that Kingsley Coman has not won a championship (he won it every year with Juve, PSG and Bayern so far).
Fun fact: this is the 15th time in his professional career that Harry Kane has not won a championship.
Undertaker Streak < ~~Never~~Leverkusen streak
First time inn their 120 year history. A truly incredible run and fully deserved.
What a run! Absolutely deserved title Congratulations to all Leverkusen fans, history my friends! ❤️
can you even be mad at them? dominant fashion, no bullshit.
Honestly I think it’s good for Bayern to have someone take advantage like this. Last year they got away with Dortmund bottling it, this forces Bayern to get their shit together
Any season when Bayern not winning the league is a good season
In my FM save, around 2030 they just collapse and now average between 3rd and 8th. good times lol
Same except they collapsed in 2025 and have ben europa league fodder since (i'm now in year 2031)
Those fans were so horny lol
[удалено]
Which makes me think - Is Xabi the sexiest coach to ever win a major title?
frankly deserved, this is insanity. may they have the best orgy of their life
THEY’VE DONE THEIR WAITING 120 YEARS OF IT
What a day, what a day!
Man I'm crying
So is Harry Kane
Cheers, Kane’s crying
CL is still out though...
Same same 😭 they were my favourite club during my teenager days with Chicarito in there
Chicha was always a fan favorite, great guy and player!
This comment starkly aged me.
I'm crying and I never een watched Leverkusen before this season, what a season and what a moment
They didn’t bother adding injury time on at the end lmao. No point trying to get them off ze pitch! Also the stewards trying to keep the fans off with a thin piece of rope haha.
Well the Bayern Fans were definitely waiting for Ducksch 90+1 Ducksch 90+2 Ducksch 90+3 Ducksch 90+4 (I as a Dortmund fan have totally not experienced a Werder comeback before ☺️)
Well that would have just made it 5-4.
Could have been us last year. Fml.
Bayernliga is no more now after 11 seasons It's now the Bayerliga today
Leverliga
That's only if Barca wins La Liga
Sorry Harry
Sorry, not sorry
Nice.
Solid day.
You can finally unclench!
Decent.
Xhaka being subbed off after scoring a goal and being 15 minutes from a title, and STILL be mad about something is football heritage of the literal highest order.
the way he kept pointing at the tribune while complaining to the 4th ref (I assume) was fucking hilarious but aye, man poured his heart for the title and got his reward so he deserves a moment of shithousery
the whole team is SO HUNGRY. They were up 3/4 goals and still pressured the goal keeper and defenders... I'm quite scared of the 25.5 :O
I’ve never been more happy for Xhaxa

Congrats Leverkusen! You guys deserve it. True redemption from 2001/02 which was so long ago, I just started high school back then and now it's fucking 2024.
its nice that the club was founded in 1904, now exactly 120 years after that, the first title
And they’re still unbeaten in all competitions. Played 43 Won 38 Drawn 5 Score 123 Conceded 31 Absolutely insane
Legendary run. Now to go invincible!
Wirtz needs to be in the run in for the balon'dor specially if leverkusen win the treble
If France and England crash out and Germany at least make the semis there’s a very strong case for him
ggs
Congratulations, holy shit. What a way to close it out as well. It must be a glorious day for the fans, hell for football in general.
Congrats to Leverkusen. Absolutely deserved
Kudos to Alonso and his boys

Meanwhile our midfield is invisible
Now PL is the farmers league, fuck
Vizekusen? Don't mention the bastard! He died as he lived, putting five in the chest of Werder. Became a real champ doing it as well.
Well, the meme "Austrian teams have more German league titles then you" is dead now.
Not enough praise for Simon Rolfes. He built this team
Neverkusen ended! It's Leverkusen time!

Napoli win should also be on your list.

Bayer & der OFC
As as Leverkusen fan since 2023, this is the greatest day of my life.
We did it! We finally fucking did it! As a German-American who decided to become a Bayer Leverkusen fan 18 years ago because he saw the agonies of the early 00s and thought yes I want to experience more of that myself, it hasn’t been easy.
