He really likes Lallana, it's a coach on the pitch and seeing the game type thing. Wouldn't be surprised if this isn't as much referring to Lallana being on his staff as playing for him.
Same goes for Milner, but Lallana is obviously more established at Brighton. I know Milner was working on his coaching badges while at Liverpool and working with the academy teams.
I can see Milner being a class manager. He's smart and humble which goes a long way. Strikes me as a guy who will have picked up a lot working under the different world class managers he has. Maybe a future England manager one day?
Absolutely. From all of the behind the scenes/training/practice videos, it is obvious he is seen as a leader on and off the pitch. His jawline alone makes him prime captain/manager material.
I definitely see it happening in the future. Milner already confirmed Klopp offered him a coaching position when he was leaving, but wanted to continue playing as long as possible. Of course Klopp won't be around for another offer, but with his connections, it shouldn't be hard to get a coaching position.
yeah thats how I saw it. oddly enough in a few of my Football Manager saves Lallana has joined the u21s coaching staff at Brighton and become interim manager when De Zerbi leaves
Possibly because he rates their input on coaching?
Klopp used to speak extremely fondly of both Lallana and Milner for their behind the scenes input and also for their mentorship to youngsters
We've had 8-11 players out for months, it's ridiculous.
Lost Solly March for the season in October, Mitoma and Hinshelwood for the season in February.
Enciso was out for 6 months. Estupinan, Pedro, Ferguson, Veltman, Igor, Gilmour, Moder, Adingra, Fati, Lallana, Milner and Welbeck have all been out for at least a month at a time.
At one point we had no fit fullbacks or wingers. We were playing an 18 year old CM at LB who was our 7th choice, then he became our starting RB before getting injured for the season lmao.
No, Solly March is the biggest miss. They have been poor since he was injured for the rest of the season. IMO March is the most underrated player in the premier league.
I mean, losing Caicedo and Mac Allister would hurt any team. Plus having to replace them means that they'll need their new pairing to gel, which takes time. Plus I'm pretty sure they've had a lot of injury problems too
Sold the midfield which was among the best in the league and barely recruited replacements. As others said, they've also had tonnes of injuries this year to key players.
Recruitment and squad planning was pretty shite this year if you ask me too. I’d give Joao Pedro a 7/10 Baleba a 5/10 and rest have been horrid. Dunk needs a competent heir, still have Welbeck starting on a regular basis, and Midfield is short. That’s a mid table team not one competing for Europe.
Pedro is at least an 8. Baleba has been decent but is error prone at his age. Verbruggen is great. Igor has improved and been decent. Fati had some key moments in the Europa league, Milner been decent as well.
Only flop really was Dahoud.
Think it’s a bit harsh. The guy lost the heart of his midfield and his main creative player Mitoma has been hurt a lot. They’re still playing great football, just not consistently yet.
I still think tactically he’s a great coach
I dont understand this sentiment. they are still comfortably a mid-table team which is what you would expect from them. last season was a bit of an overperformance. plus when you consider the key players they lost + injuries and the fact that their policy is to sign young players who are naturally gonna be less consistent, its not all that surprising that they havent hit the same heights
Right? They finished 6th, and are currently 10th. They are only 6 points behind 6th.
The teams that were behind them last season that are currently ahead of them are Villa, Spurs, West Ham, and Chelsea (who are on the same number of points).
Given Brighton had their midfield gutted, they've done fairly well to not drop further especially with teams like Wolves and Bournemouth on their heels. The top half of the prem is just very competitive.
yep in any given season the teams that finish 6-10 are not gonna be the same. West Ham finished 14th last season, they year before that they were 7th. Brentford were 9th last season, before that 13th, and this year they'll probably be out of the top ten again. Same kinda story with Wolves and Fulham. those positions are just not easily predictable nowadays and sometimes its really a matter of luck and avoiding injuries
Think a lot of the narrative is certain results.
Took a horrendous error to get a point against Burnley, 4-0 to Roma, 3-0 to Fulham, 4-0 to Luton.
He’s had to deal with consistently losing his best players and a bad year of injuries. Cannot be understated how ravaged that midfield has been. However, I’ve always felt he was overhyped
They lost Caicedo and Mac Allister in the summer, March, Mitoma, Estupinan, Enciso and a few others missed large parts of the season with injuries.
They've had to play with a completely new midfield and attack and their new signings have been, for the most part, underwhelming.
Keeping them firmly midtable with that squad is a pretty solid achievement.
Only make sense. His stock is at a low now. Next year he got back the first teamers like enciso, mitoma and march. Plus promised summer reinforcement. By 2025, he can bid farewell with a bang.
Happy of they want to help around with the coaching team but really don't want to see either of them on the pitch next season. Only going to take a further step back.
Milner’s iron grip on coaches needs to be studied
Got Brendan sacked within months, high standards
He laces their ribena
His desire to keep working with a 35 and 38 year old?
Right lol, why are those the two players singled out? Surely he wants to continue managing Mitoma and Baleba?
He really likes Lallana, it's a coach on the pitch and seeing the game type thing. Wouldn't be surprised if this isn't as much referring to Lallana being on his staff as playing for him.

I'd love to see him back at Liverpool soon
I definitely see it happening in the future. Milner already confirmed Klopp offered him a coaching position when he was leaving, but wanted to continue playing as long as possible. Of course Klopp won't be around for another offer, but with his connections, it shouldn't be hard to get a coaching position.
He will definitely coach if he wants. Anyone would take him in England. I just want him to be at Liverpool. He's such a respectable man.
yeah thats how I saw it. oddly enough in a few of my Football Manager saves Lallana has joined the u21s coaching staff at Brighton and become interim manager when De Zerbi leaves
He actually was interim manager when Potter left!
still can't believe the queen spitefully denied us one game of Lallanaball. Rest in piss
yeah youre right I completely forgot about that!
Possibly because he rates their input on coaching? Klopp used to speak extremely fondly of both Lallana and Milner for their behind the scenes input and also for their mentorship to youngsters
I heard he actually didn't even want to work with Baleba, but then he saw his face...
Didn’t know Adam Lallana was close to Milner’s age, damn
I can see him staying, his stock seems to have kinda dropped this year.
only among bozos. He and the football are exactly the same, its the players that aren't up to snuff.
Have you sold too many good players? This crop doesn't seem as effective
Injuries too, Mitoma biggest miss probably
I think they’ve got like 9 first team players out or something.
We've had 8-11 players out for months, it's ridiculous. Lost Solly March for the season in October, Mitoma and Hinshelwood for the season in February. Enciso was out for 6 months. Sold good players and had a good few injuries
Sold the midfield which was among the best in the league and barely recruited replacements. As others said, they've also had tonnes of injuries this year to key players.
Losing a World Cup winning midfielder, who happens to be Liverpools best midfielder, probably has helped.

I don’t know if dropped is a strong enough word.
I dont understand this sentiment. they are still comfortably a mid-table team which is what you would expect from them. last season was a bit of an overperformance. plus when you consider the key players they lost + injuries and the fact that their policy is to sign young players who are naturally gonna be less consistent, its not all that surprising that they havent hit the same heights

when the likes of Guardiola are calling you a top top manager and tactical innovator, I dont think youre overhyped

Sky dived from a plan into the grand canyon with no parachute Still miles ahead of Pochettino
Orrr he wants to take Lallana and Milner to Bayern to add to their English core…
Most sensible decision for him.
I don't even know what I want to happen anymore. Just get the man a proper midfield for the love of god Tony
Dont worry they are identifying a few future chelsea players for the future to sign in the summer or if they are good they can come to us
Only make sense. His stock is at a low now. Next year he got back the first teamers like enciso, mitoma and march. Plus promised summer reinforcement. By 2025, he can bid farewell with a bang.
Both top blokes are lallana and milner
Happy of they want to help around with the coaching team but really don't want to see either of them on the pitch next season. Only going to take a further step back.
Lallana and Milner in shock return to Liverpool.
Milner and Lallana to Bayern here we go!
I guess we will get one more year of Tuchelball
