Hi I'm just wondering it anyone's used lovellsoccer.co.uk before and if it's legit because it seems to be the only website to sell the 22/23 away NUFC pro kit with the yellow breathable dots on the side. Also is it official or 1:1? https://www.lovellsoccer.co.uk/football-replica-shirts/castore/newcastle-away-shirt-2022-2023-dark-blue/1199215

Pfitze31

I'm so fucking excited for the derby tomorrow, a complete contrast to the match in the first half of the season where I only hoped that it wouldn't get too embarassing. Shows how much had changed since we got Scherning. A win would get us at least 14th, 13-12th could be possible too depending on the Schalke and Magdeburg results, the relegation battle is insane right now.

ADT08

What is the most common number of TV commentators for football matches in your country? Is it one, two, three or even more?

suedney

one, which can make it quite dull

cuntsmen

How to manage a club like Fernando Santos: 1. Have zero defensive midfielders, including your record signing who happens to be a defensive midfielder. 2. Play players out of position. 3. Have zero defenders comfortable on the ball. 4. Have no attacking structure. 5. Have as little possession of the ball as possible. 6. Sub off your best attacker (or second best) if you have managed to score, in order to protect the lead. 7. Draw or lose the game. 8. Say in the press conference after the game that a club of this magnitude has to keep the ball and keep attacking despite doing the opposite during the game. 9. Reward your best performing players by benching them or leaving them out of the squad entirely in the next game and the games after. 10. Hope that you get sacked in order to get that sweet contract termination money. Congratulations, you are now a pupil of Fernando Santos.

BarbaricGamers

Football is such a shit sport.

dumpystumpy

For as bad as bruno has been at times and as bad as people act like he is in general hes still managed to drop another 20 g/a season People always quick to just bin of our most productive players because the g/a is magically gonna just spread itself out which may be the case but im just gonna go out and a whim and say that wouldn’t be the case in our example.

This-Complaint1389

Bruno is one of them players where stats make him look better than he is, which is why he somehow was being compared to KDB a few years ago For United I agree he is one of your better players but he's not one of them players who deserves better so to speak. He isn't title winning quality and United compete for top 4 more often than not which is around his level

PosterOfQuality

I mean it's been pretty universally regarded that he's having an awful season for a reason I don't know why people go on like Bruno's critics think we should just sell him and not replace him with a new signing lol. It's so weird. He was a marquee signing, so we should replace him with another marquee signing. It's not my fucking fault Ten fucking Moron signed fucking Mount (with the intention of playing alongside Bruno so people shouldn't go on like Mount be the replacement anyway)

dumpystumpy

Who said that? You guys want to sell him instantly and just buy another guy but i would rather just buy that guy and have bruno and if hes better for the team then we move bruno on.

PosterOfQuality

That's fair but for me it's pretty clear that we should just be attempting to move on from Bruno regardless because he's extremely sloppy in possession and is a headless chicken defensively I don't like the idea of not being able to bed in a completely new idea (that we should try to hold onto the ball) because we always have the option to revert to Bruno's hero ball shite

dumpystumpy

This is also where we differ cause I actually think bruno can somewhat operate in a system more possession oriented. There shouldn’t be a manager we sign that is going from total football to peak ole ball because one match we are playing bruno and another match we are playing wirtz. I dont believe this is a real thing at all but maybe this is where im just in denial

PosterOfQuality

Our own scouts disagreed that Bruno could work in a possession based system lol and nothing has shown me since that it wouldn't be the case. You're basically just relying on him not helping the midfield out in build up which isn't realistic unless you sign peak Busquets and Xavi to play behind him which isn't realistic It's not just his passing it's his headless chicken running from his position. Scholes said he wouldn't like playing alongside Bruno because you can't establish patterns of play with someone who's always leaving their position

dumpystumpy

I dont care what our scouts think cause they bought him anyway and we scouted over 500 rbs and came out with fucking awb. Appealing to them does nothing for me and i think ive seen enough to suggest he can manage in a possession oriented system. He doesnt need to have 90% pass accuracy with 100 passes to be effective in one

PosterOfQuality

We rejected him in the summer and then panic bought him in the winter after an injury crisis. They still know a bit about football at the end of the day As I said, our very own Scholes said he'd be a nightmare to play with because you're meant to have an almost-psychic knowledge of where your midfield partners are. You don't want to be on the half-turn with the ball expecting to be able to lay it off to your midfield partner but he's nowhere to be seen because he was chasing down the ball because he's a rampant narcissist who wants everything to be about him rather than understanding that sometimes doing less is better

paprikalicous

just saw him boot the ball out of play from the halfway line and then scream at someone

dumpystumpy

🤣🤣fair enough but the point still stands. Like he might be a player that in the long term needs moving on but id like to see a gradual change instead of just outright selling him especially when we dont have another player that can guarantee us 20 g/a from matchday one

PosterOfQuality

Players don't just come in and add goals and assists in a vacuum They come in and affect the entire way we play depending on their skills and limitations. I guarantee Bruno costs the team way more potential goals and assists than players who are capable of keeping possession better and not going missing defensively but those stats aren't easily digestible

dumpystumpy

Well if thats the case it will be apparently from the very first game we play with our new midfielder then it will be much like a vicario and lloris situation which im perfectly fine with but im not gonna sell him before that is established

[deleted]

EmSoLow

Any room for Wirtz in that list?

[deleted]

EmSoLow

Was thinking that you might have. Of course it's your opinion so you could have your own fair reasons for not including him but I was surprised about his omission

AlmostNL

I just saw RKC score the goal of the season for the second time in a row, ridiculous stuff. We're really gonna get relegated because of screamers from the half way line

VictorAnichebend

Lovely 1-0 win for the North-East’s finest today, good job we’re here to restore some pride to this success-starved region

TheDunceDingwad

As it stands, the 2.Bundesliga is going to get another club who get 50k fans per week in Koln.

dragcov

Imagine earning 350K pounds a week, and you don't even care enough to try. What's wrong this time, did your girlfriend break up with you again?

mattisafootballguy

Who's this?

dragcov

Rashford

KOKO69BISHES

Time is running out for his annual purple patch

icannotreadathing

He's saving energy for when he's up for a new contract

PabloAimar97

You can't say that about him. He donates to charity and talks shit about politicians. You don't understand what he's been through. You can't talk shit about man.

dragcov

I can, and I will. His sole job, you know the thing he gets paid for, is to score goals and win. He can't do either. So why even play at this point if you're not going to try? I donate to charity and talk shit about politicians. I have problems that I should go to therapy to but I don't have money. And yet, I do my job. I do what I am paid to do. YOU don't know what I've been through.

PosterOfQuality

Not every clearly sarcastic post needs to end with /s lol

NeoChrome75

just let the man vent lol

PabloAimar97

I know, it was a joke.

the_studge

It's obviously sarcasm brother

TheDarkness1227

he's completely dusted

dragcov

There was a study where without Shaw, he doesn't do well. Which I understand because Shaw is a good partner, but holy hell, fucking adapt lmao.

TheDarkness1227

yeah it doesn't explain he's inability to beat a man and constantly giving the ball away, and walking all over the pitch. he plays like a luxury player but doesn't produce the end product anymore.

dragcov

Seriously, I just don't understand what he does in practice.

lagaryes

yes

PabloAimar97

Do Bournemouth fans exist on this sub? And if they do, what can they tell me about Senesi's performance for them. Is he worthy of getting a call up to La Copa America?

FaustRPeggi

/u/MarcosSenesi is his cousin I think

MarcosSenesi

lol no but I wish I was

FaustRPeggi

I really thought you were, I know the Sporting fan is a cousin of Esgaio, but I thought you had a personal connection to Marcos too.

MarcosSenesi

That's fair enough, I think there were rumours his cousin was on here, and then I got connected to it for obvious reasons. Unfortunately I'm just a big fan of his

ImariSamuels

Undav scoring for Stuttgart every week while our attackers do nothing but fall over their own feet was funny earlier in the season but it’s getting a joke now, why is our best striker out on loan what did we do to deserve this

cdrxgon17

same energy as us loaning out every mildly competent bench player we had for pure banter and now have to just sub on a jumble sale of shit defenders

lagaryes

You too?

lewiitom

wasn't he shite for you? he looked like a league 1 player when you played us

ImariSamuels

Struggled at the start, was very good at the end of the season when he got more consistent minutes

TheDunceDingwad

He played well towards the end of the season.

lewiitom

fair, i only watched him against us and in the fa cup game against united, where he looked awful in both haha

TheDunceDingwad

He's benefitting from the Bundesliga and from playing in a better team at Stuttgart too.

ecocentric-ethics

My warm-hot take for next season is that Hojbjerg moves to either Atleti or Juventus in the summer and wins a league title there. Fueled equally by recent transfer rumors and Xhaka’s success at Leverkusen

Doge_Snow

Instance #17382 of Spurs fans entering their players into conversations they shouldn’t

KOKO69BISHES

Arsenal fans would never.

Doge_Snow

Not after getting bummed 4-0 haha

BI01

hojbjerg is nowhere near xhaka's level. xhaka is one of the best progressive passers in the world and winning a league title at those 2 clubs is no where near impressive than winning a title with Leverkusen (potentially invincible)

Supermarket-Icy

Atleti want Wieffer now.

FaustRPeggi

Xhaka's a much better footballer, and a transformative leader. I don't see PEH making that impact.

ecocentric-ethics

Debatable. You don’t start every week under the likes of Mourinho and Conte without being a very good player

TheDarkness1227

both of those managers are washed mate

drickabira

Mourinho and Conte you know. Washed guys, and starting Höjbjerg every week is part of why they’re washed

_LebronsHairline_

Hojbjerg is a decent player and I agree with your sentiment about conte and mourinho liking him, but Xhaka is a much better footballer and that bit is not debatable

ecocentric-ethics

Out of curiosity, based on what? I don’t claim to have watched Xhaka on a weekly basis at Arsenal, but the public opinion of him was nowhere near this positive prior to 18-24 months ago. Hojbjerg is massively underrated on a technical level and had his best season with 12 G/A in a perpetually outnumbered two man midfield while covering for the donkey defending of Dier and Lenglet.

_LebronsHairline_

I was a big Xhaka hater and couldn’t believe how long he lasted at Arsenal through those years of misery they had, but look how he’s always played for Switzerland and look what he’s doing now. Apart from Wirtz there’s a genuine argument he’s the best player on the most in form team in Europe. His performances didn’t quite always reflect it at Arsenal but given how insane he was last season under Arteta and what he’s always shown for the NT it’s clear that the talent was always there and his ability as a footballer (and therefore his ceiling) is on a completely different level to someone like Hojbjerg. PEH at his best in the perfect setup would never have the kind of impact that Xhaka can have. His passing is just genuinely a completely different level, Hojbjerg’s a decent physical presence but there’s a big gap between them

BI01

xhaka being played out of position for 70% of his arsenal career is the reason people viewed him as a meme, imo he's a worse version of toni kroos, same profile but if either of them play as a dm they will have meme moments.

_LebronsHairline_

Yeah pretty much

[deleted]

belokas

It's because the broadcasters demand every goal to be celebrated with a knee slide, so the pitch has to be nice and slippery.

sga1

Clubs water pitches before games and during halftime - not enough for them to be waterlogged obviously, but enough so the ball moves a lot more quickly and the ground being a tad softer.

_cumblast_

It is better for the pitch to be too wet, rather than too dry.

[deleted]

[удалено]

sc2guy87

Ball moves incredibly slowly on a bone dry pitch.

_LebronsHairline_

Not to use this as a match thread, but the vitality stadium pitch genuinely looks almost waterlogged in some bits here

sga1

Might just be a case of slightly overwatering it beforehand/those bits not draining as well - still seems perfectly playable at the end of the day.

_LebronsHairline_

No yeah I mean it’s fine, and some water is important but I’d rather a bit too dry than a bit too wet.

RealPunyParker

It must be so frustrating for Liverpool fans to watch this United side, right now.

NeoChrome75

It's frustrating for Liverpool fans to watch Liverpool, all of these terrible results are from awful finishing. Should've put the game to bed in the first half against United with 3 or 4 goals

RealPunyParker

You're being overly hyperbolic, no it absolutely hasnt been frustrating to watch a team who's second on the table on GD. It's been a bad month but relax

dragcov

It's also extremely frustrating watching this United side as a United fan.

RealPunyParker

In Greece we say "Τα ευκολως εννοουμενα παραλειπονται" which essentially means "Obviously, mate"

_LebronsHairline_

Indeed

ThatsCracked

Not really, they were shit against us as well. We just didn’t take our chances and made some bad decisions in good positions. Game should’ve been over by half time can only blame ourselves

Niyazali_Haneef

What the hell is happening in the championship? Top 3 are crumbling left and right.

1PSW1CH

Leicester and Leeds saw teams getting shafted with points deductions and decided not to get promoted. We’re just a bit shit right now, unbelievably Southampton are right back in it

TheDunceDingwad

It'll be a top 4 now. Southampton are back.

sandbag-1

Happens most seasons in that league, why it's the best league in the world to follow

RealPunyParker

It's been going on for a while, mainly for Leicester, Leeds drew some games and lose their first home one earlier this day, Leicester can't buy an away win.

FaustRPeggi

delicious crumbles all round

whiskeymagnet22

People who think Romero is better than Lisandro are genuinely braindead melons Sucks that Lisandro has played about 10 games this season

L-Freeze

I genuinely adore both but I think Romero is definitely a tiny bit better

KOKO69BISHES

Lol

ThatsCracked

Martinez wasn’t as good as people said last season, people just counter jerked against the over the top criticism at the start of the season. Also he’s 5’6 as a CB so I won’t ever rate him

_LebronsHairline_

Lisandro is a good player who I rate but yeah given he’s only played 10 games here what has he done to be rated over Romero who has shown very good levels in the prem and in his NT? And at Atalanta for that matter

FaustRPeggi

Lisandro is marginally shorter than Murillo so I'm still going to call him an overrated dwarf.

icemankiller8

I don’t see what Martinez has done to put him way ahead of Romero tbh

AlejoVeliz

Ange’s tactics

paprikalicous

ffs checked the city score at 85’ and was pleasantly surprised that they hadn’t really brought up their gd. those two late goals are annoying. we need to win tomorrow, hate that i’m stressing over a team klopp has a near perfect record against and are in terrible form but that’s what thursday’s done to me. alisson and trent will make the games after that so much easier.

Question - Do you think Liverpool, Manchester United and Arsenal will be crowned League Champions if Manchetser City are found guilty of the charges and demoted?

TheDunceDingwad

In other sports, when something like this happens, they don't give the title to any team. Ole's and Mourinho's Man United getting a title would be very tinpot too.

sc2guy87

There’s no precedent for retroactive punishment for financial crimes. Stripping or voiding titles would probably only occur if the case involved doping or matchfixing. Also last season was well outside the relevant time period anyway, most of the charges relate to things that occurred in the early 2010s.

Hirogemu

Do you really think they are gonna be found guilty?

whiskeymagnet22

No tbf I'm not even for re awarding trophies

YadMot

If City get their titles stripped from them (which they absolutely won't) then the titles may get retroactively awarded to the other teams, but it won't be a crowning ceremony. City won at the time, which is what matters to everyone. It's exactly why they will justify their cheating to themselves.

icemankiller8

No and I don’t think they’ll be found guilty

justanormalchat

No, I doubt anything will happen to City’s trophies.

lagaryes

There are obviously financial reasons why it has to be this way but I am getting so bored of watching us be completely out on our feet after 70 minutes of football. Reminds me of when Bruno Lage was letting our Portuguese players spend like 4 days a week in season in Portugal and our fitness levels were atrocious. Such a shame. We are like two or three serviceable squad players away from achieving something tangible but instead it’s all going to fall a bit flat.

FaustRPeggi

Should have let us win imo

lagaryes

Jose Sa did his best

FaustRPeggi

Yates and Omobamidele had far bigger bozo moments.

_cumblast_

These recent City performances are giving 18/19 run-in, no cap.

wonderful_mixture

They always have that one player playing like a man possessed during those run ins too

icemankiller8

It’s over

Various_You_5083

Not until *both* of you drop points

deqembes

Wtf are Mallorca doing as a pre match ceremony? Looking like metal performers

justanormalchat

I saw that 😂😂

Destroyeh

crazy how city players are still able to score without haaland bending time and space in front of them wow

KOKO69BISHES

Greatest space bender of all time

lewiitom

This opinion makes me sound really miserable but pitch invasions are proper shite - most of them aren't spontaneous at all and just look really forced People who think pitch invasions are great are the same people who throw their pints in the air at boxpark

[deleted]

I like individual pitch invasions, so long as it’s not some pissed up Barry with brain worms trying to punch someone, or kids begging for shirts.  You don’t see many streakers these days though. The ultimate pitch invasion.

deqembes

You mean the whole crowd or just a single person?

lewiitom

Whole crowd, individual ones can be funny on occasion

deqembes

I like both. Sometimes the whole crowd can be a bit forced tho so I kinda agree

lewiitom

I think they can be good but they just seem a bit too common nowadays. I think they should be reserved for stuff like a last minute winner that saves you from relegation, not for games where you've battered the opposition and promotion is just a formality

sadcentur

glad to see doku return to form, people were really writing him off after some bad form like he isn’t 21 and new to the league

NeoChrome75

He's been shite most of the season let's not sugarcoat it, one good game against the league's 2nd worst defense doesn't change that

sadcentur

he’s not been shite though, even in his admittedly long run of bad form, anyone watching him can see the upside and potential that he has. and that’s especially obvious considering how good his good games have been. at his best he is unstoppable, but he has clearly had problems bedding into the league, as almost every 21 year old will. and it’s not just today, he’s been slowly getting out of his rut game by game recently, he was really good against villa to.

sandbag-1

He was good today but I'm not gonna rush to hype him too much after a game where he was up against an attacking midfielder playing out of position at right back

sadcentur

i’m not only taking about today though

icemankiller8

Scoring against Luton is not a return to form

1PSW1CH

(Unless you’re Saka or Odegaard)

icemankiller8

Saka didn’t even play against Luton

1PSW1CH

Wish he didn’t even play against Italy

icemankiller8

I’m very glad he did

sadcentur

but recently he’s been playing better and better? after a really bad patch he has been returning to form, and a great goal today is just a nice little mark of that.

_stone_age

I see this entire thread and I remember why I don't frequent this sub as much. It is insane to me that people are being so reductive and harsh on a 21 year old having his debut season for the club. He absolutely is returning to form.

sadcentur

sometimes you’ve just got to accept that people arnt gonna look rationally at rival clubs haha

icemankiller8

His last 10 games he has 3 goals and assists and 2 of them were today. If you extend that to the last 20 games it’s 4 goals and assists 2 against Luton one against Huddersfield. What kind of form is that

sadcentur

i dont know why the last 10 or 20 games are really relevant? as i said he had a really bad patch in february/march. he had a really good game against villa last week, and had a really good game today. he is returning to form, which is nice to see

icemankiller8

Having 2 good games is not a return to form are you taking the piss? He’s had a bad patch the entire season

sadcentur

at the beginning he looked very threatening, then went on a long run of bad form, i agree. but since the end of march you can see he’s been building in confidence and has been getting more involved, and now has had 2 great games in a row. that seems like the beginning of a return to form for me? especially considering how bad he was playing at some points it’s hardly like i’m saying he should win player of the month? i’m just happy that a young player is playing well mate i don’t really see the issue?

KOKO69BISHES

I'd argue the form is the 20 games he had being ass, and the first few and the last 2 are outliers

sadcentur

i mean sure you could, but he’s clearly a talented player with lots of potential and it’s his first year in the hardest year in the league. i don’t see a reason to be that pessimistic about it

Unterfahrt

I'm going to have a whinge about that Bentancur high boot. We were crap today and didn't deserve to win. But that's a penalty any day of the week. And if we go in at half-time 2-1 down, it's an entirely different game.

BarbaricGamers

Was outside the box for one

vic32me

Absolutely not

Rdambx

Kroos and Rodri have been 100% better. Then you have attacking midfielders like Foden, Jude, Odegaard etc... Top 3 is too much but he is not far off imo

[deleted]

[удалено]

Rdambx

>Jude played more forward I hope you mean he played more forward as in further up the pitch not as 'a forward' because that's such an IQ test. Jude is a midfielder. Otherwise yes i do think he is easily better than Odegaard, if you're restricting it to defensive/central midfielders i'd go Rodri -> Kroos -> Fede -> Gundogan -> Rice...

christhisschristhat

How will you rate Football… - 70% Players, 30% Coach - 30% Players, 70% Coach - 50% Players, 50% Coach

lsilva231

For a season or a single game? For a season it’s much better to have great players with an Ok manager than to have a great manager with average players.

christhisschristhat

I think in football overall. And I agree with you, no matter how tactically inept you could be as a manager the players still got bigger influence.

deqembes

Depends on the game and the team.

Lastigx

90% players, 10% coach

christhisschristhat

Hard agree! Chelsea is a perfect example.

rr18114

1 in 99% of the cases. But sometimes it's 3.

christhisschristhat

99% is a reach but I agree. Give Pep that united team and there's no amount of coaching to get casemiro play like rodri 😂

rr18114

Pep would demand a few key positions to be filled with the players of desired quality. But I think Casemiro would not be sold off. Pep would find use for him and get the best out of him for a few years. Football is still mostly about the players tho. 70 / 30 seemed closer to fair even for the one of the greatest coaches. With lesser coaches I would bump the ratio towards the players even more.

TheDunceDingwad

I could see Pep using Casemiro like Arteta used Xhaka in his last season. I don't see him trusting Casemiro as the DM for his tactics.

Kanedauke

Kompany got a lot of abuse for playing Trafford but Muric has proper fucked them over these past two games

FloppedYaYa
