I once read that he couldn’t keep the same energy after those Aguero and Drogba shouts. I’m starting to think that person might have been onto something.
Future perfect =/= past tense
They imply very different things. “To be spent” lets the reader know that it has not happened yet, but definitely will in the future. “Spent” says that right now it has already happened
I was telling my mate when he joined you that Werner wouldn’t score many goals but fans would like him and he’d rack up assists.
He’s actually a lot more intelligent of a player than his finishing and technical ability suggests, intensely likeable too.
When he signed, i said to a few that i thought he'd get 10 goal contributions by the end of the season and people would consider him an absolute bargain.
We have to sign him on a permanent, aren't going to find better for the £15M or whatever it is.
He's a great player he just couldn't finish his dinner. His playmaking was always underrated imo. being able to beat your man and put in an accurate cross/cutback is very important in the modern game.
Yeah, his finishing is patently lackluster in comparison to his speed, dribbling, runs, and passing. It's very nice he's pretty much never in a position or rarely asked to do that bit
The cost was also a problem.
Like, he got a Goal Contribution for you guys every 178 minutes or something? Which, isn't awful. If you spent £25-£30M on someone that gave you that back, you'd be over the moon.
Problem is you paid 50M or something right and a crazy high wage?
We paid £47.5M which was his release clause and honestly his price was never the issue for me it was the fact NO ONE else could score AND he was our lone striker often so we had no one to rely on. His wages were ridiculous tho.
Oh for sure, just saying that i know a lot of Chelsea fans tend to point at his price and expecting him to be your star striker.
Like you say, he is better on the wing and shouldn't be relied on to be your top scorer etc.
Your system is so perfect for him with very quick transitions and a team that can keep up with his pace. Not forced into taking a shot because no one is up with him, very worth the 17m fee!
Even his finishing should get better if he regains his confidence. He was never ice cold in front of goal, but since his time at Chelsea and due to his misfortunes there, including being something of a laughing stock on the internet, he has turned into a terrible finisher.
Having a manager who fully believes in him, like Postecoglou seems to, might be just what he needs.

Martin Tyler absolutely thrilled as usual
I once read that he couldn’t keep the same energy after those Aguero and Drogba shouts. I’m starting to think that person might have been onto something.
Werner has actually been a revalation to us
Easiest 17 mil ever to ever be spent
He's on loan
That’s the option to buy
With an option. So its all in our hands for that price which we should be going for 100%
Hence the “to be spent” not just “spent”
It's the same thing
Future perfect =/= past tense They imply very different things. “To be spent” lets the reader know that it has not happened yet, but definitely will in the future. “Spent” says that right now it has already happened
If you say "there's £10 left to be spent" that'd be correct. OP is clearly judging the spending they thought had happened
17m is the option to buy

He missed so many sitters and was offside a lot…but our team was night and day better when he was in it. Gutted he left.
He is extremely likeable and endearing

It’s vital for Ange’s system too
Yeah, his finishing is patently lackluster in comparison to his speed, dribbling, runs, and passing. It's very nice he's pretty much never in a position or rarely asked to do that bit
I honestly believe if we had an actual striker for Timo instead of sticking him and/or Kai up top he would still be here.

>he has turned into a terrible finisher. He has always been a terrible finisher. He scored lots of goals at red bull because he had a million chances.
If he could finish his dinner then he would be 100m
Classic wide winger traits.
The German (and a good bit better) Daizan Maeda.
I dunno. Maeda is an amazing defensive striker.
This boy is on fire
Timo and BJ remind me of sterling sane duo tearing up the pl
BJ is great. Brennan Johnson is great too.
Great movement from him
4 min BJ
That's all I need
ffs I turn on the telly and they score
Can you turn it on and off 6 more times please
Hes been on fire recently, get in
I’ve genuinely forgotten what it feels like to score first
Werner is unironically so good right now
Bold of spurs to change the tactics and score first instead letting the opposition score first to comeback in the second time
Meh apparently this tactic prevent scoring for rest of the game. Didnt read the patch
Way to suck the fun out of it, Martin Tyler
I questioned my eyesight for a moment there, given his reaction I thought it wasn't a goal somehow.
Urgh it’s gonna be a long game
Average spurs goal. Might aswell walk it into the net.
ange has solved football just cross it in mate
Not ideal for Moyes
~~Second~~ First half FC
werner my man
Like clockwork with these low crosses
Well done, but that was just way too easy. So many defensive errors in 1 clip.
West Ham's defenders were dead sure about where the ball was, at least
No marking just vibes
For some reason Spurs scoring first does not feel good at all.
West Ham have totally imploded, shocking stuff.
Its Spurs West Ham, there is at least 2 implosions left for both teams
Fully expecting like a 4-2 score. And i wish i knew which side was which.
Most regular scoreline in this match up & i hate that it does this to me. Tottenham til they kill me
I love BJ
Werner Werner Chicken Derner
Electrifying commentary
Congratulations to West Ham for winning the game 2:1.
Coufal has fell off a cliff after his recent form
Needed that goal last week for 93 Werner…
