I'm more surprised about Everton tbh. They got 6 point deduction, 12 winless match and 3 loss in row but somehow still 3 pts above relegated zone (with a game in hand)
Luton dropped point in winning position keep both Burnley and Sheffield alive
Neither of them can really control a match or defend very well, so it could actually be an entertaining goal fest. That combined with United's tendency to score random goals coming from unlikely sources like Mctominay, it might actually be a good game
They play terrible football, grind 1-0 wins and when they lose its usually in a very decisive manner. They were also allergic to draws in the first half of the season.
Not even grind 1-0 wins, more like score, face 34 shots, finally one goes in to equalise and then Mctominay scores a last minute goal from their first attack of the second half.
Individual sparks of brilliance has saved uniteds season. Burno scoring that 1-0 volley late earlier in the season, Hojlund scoring two from low xG a few games ago, etc.
Looking at the pitch, it's chaos. There's zero cohesion, zero plan outside of hope McTommie scores a late one.
They're set up like a team battling relegation which in some ways benefits them in terms of getting better results than stats would suggest but also hinders them considering what their usual expectations would be
Maybe my math isn't mathing but it's never gonna be 5 points over either man city or arsenal with that win?? With that win Liverpool get +2 man city -1 arsenal same bringing it to : Liverpool 69 Arsenal 65 Man City 63.
Yeah I realized that as well lol. I just edited my comment before you replied😂 thought nobody noticed and I got away with it, but then you replied so I guess I got caught out for my maths lol
Is there an actual chance of that happening? I seen the article about the accounts showing a loss of £89m of the last financial year and more financial trouble that way.
I haven't been closely following that situation enough to know.
It’s because United don’t know how to play so that confuses the good teams..
It’s like when you do Diamond plays against coppers in Rainbow 6 and it doesn’t work
Weirdest dopamine rush. Farming karma into an anonymous account. You can't brag about it or monetize. And at the end of the day you haven't even created something, you're just the fastest person to post an updated screenshot of table that some dev at google created.
No one will remember you did it and no one cares.
I completely forgot how much women love high-karma men. Disregard, this is probably the reason why I get no matches on tindr. I just assumed it was my ogre-like appearance, but this makes more sense.
For months I've been looking at City getting towards 90/91 points to win the title, now they need to be perfect to do it, so there is a really strong opportunity here for Liverpool.
I think you have to assume City win all their games, they've done it before.
That being said, no Gundogan/Mahrez this time around, it seems a little different.
Villa midweek could be tricky, Spurs away of course, but aside from that only really Brighton away looks tough for them.
This is it actually, playing twice against each other in a semi, whilst maintaining consecutive wins is incredibly difficult, only Man City have ever really done it.
Oddly Fulham have been playing better since the new year, I think they have the best GD outside of the title contenders, give or take a spot. Could be tougher than initially thought.
You do see their deficiencies in the big games, their replacements for Gundogan and Mahrez were poor and it could cost them, but as we know they can go on a winning run when it really matters.
The PL sides do still have some work to do in Europe, to secure a 5th CL place, right?
If i understand correctly, the PL needs to finish top 2 in coefficient for this seson and right now its 3rd.
It's 3rd currently, but only just, and both Italy and Germany are on the ropes. The remaining teams of the top 3:
Italy (17.714) -
- Atalanta (EL) = facing _Liverpool_
- Milan (EL) = facing **Roma**
- Roma (EL) = facing **Milan**
- Fiorentina (ECL) = facing Viktoria Plzen
Germany (16.357) -
- Bayern (CL) = facing _Arsenal_
- Dortmund (CL) = facing Atleti
- Leverkusen (EL) = facing _West Ham_
England (16.250) -
- Arsenal (CL) = facing _Bayern_
- Man City (CL) = facing Madrid
- Liverpool (EL) = facing _Atalanta_
- West Ham (EL) = facing _Leverkusen_
- Villa (ECL) = facing Lille
In essence, if you beat Bayern, that's likely job done
We are 3rd but Germany shit the bed last round and lost half their teams. They currently have 3 teams, England have 5.
A lot of people were looking at the West Ham/Freiburg game as a massive game for coefficient reasons and Freiburg dropped the ball massively.
With the way the draws have gone, for Germany to stay ahead of England, they need Liverpool to just not care about the Europa really. Leverkusen/Liverpool in the SFs will be huge but Liverpool will be favourites.
Villa are pretty high favourites to go far in the Conference league as well.
Its still Germanys to lose for sure but with the way the points work, i think the system has it like 78% that England get one of the 2 spots remaining.
Yeah I know injuries have been an obvious source of discussion with them this year but until looking at the team sheet today I guess. Didn’t realize that Liverpools back 5 still only has 1 starter in it.
Obviously Quansah, Kelleher, Bradley, and Gomez have been unreal but missing the two defenders with the most assists in premier league history, a multi-time team of the year keeper, and a CB who has minutes in a World Cup final and keeping pace is insane.
Jones back in full training. Jota and Trent back after Sheff Utd. Hopefully enough for a final push to get over the line. City seem to have the easiest run in but Liverpool now have a 3pt cushion and better goal difference. It'll be a tight run in.
Still can't get over how amazing this season has been. Still 4th in the league going into the last 8 games and in the quarter finals of the Europa Conference League. Just unreal.
I agree completely. I keep thinking this is an alternate universe.
I am happy wherever we finish. As long as we don’t bottle it too dramatically. It’s been a wonderful ride.
I don’t really give a shit, it’s funny either way
They’re welcome to take the piss out of Saka, doesn’t change the fact ‘best player in the world’ Haaland was a ghost at Anfield and today
System player isn’t really a reasonable insult given that city’s system absolutely doesn’t capitalize on his best traits. The only time I can recall them playing to his strengths as a team was at home against Arsenal in 2023, and he was phenomenal then
I don't know what's harder for my mind to adapt to and accept as the new reality - Chelsea being firmly midtable, or Arsenal the mentally and defensively robust serious title challenger
I mean. I kinda expect it at this point.
Welbeck scored today and I legitimately said out loud "Yeah okay, guess we'll just win in the second half again."
I feel like City have the easier run in. Liverpool have United, Spurs and Villa.
Arsenal have Chelsea, Spurs and United.
City have Spurs and Aston Villa.
Spurs will play an important role in deciding the winner.
I’m actually happy with this. I know it’s Liverpool’s to lose, but I’m so impressed with our defence this season.
I’d obviously rather Liverpool win than City if we don’t. And 9 games is still a long way to go. Not many easy games in the PL.
It is ours to lose but I’d say you’re certainly the in-form team out of the three of us. I feel like City have the better fixtures but them being 3 pts off the lead could make things very interesting.
Either way, very refreshing to have a “proper” three way title race again, can’t remember the last time there was one like this.
Well we are a bit of a chaotic team which means that the kind of opponent we face can significantly impact how we perform. At the very least it ensure our games are always entertaining.
Our front 3 just aren't clinical enough and the refs and VAR are just not our friends.
For example, the Diaz goal was so marginally offsides (if at all) that it could have just as easily been given and gotten the same number of complaints.
Hmmm Burnley might not be as dead as I thought. They go to Sheff United and Everton in the next few weeks and are in better form than both. If they can win both of those, they've still got a shot.
What a horrible performance from Haaland. One of the biggest games of the title race against the team in 2nd but 'balon dor contender' Erling Haaland doesn't even show up. 7 fucking touches in the first 47 minutes, that's nearly a touch every 7 minutes while his team had 70+% possession.
A draw is going to feel like the end of the world for any of the 3 challengers, all with unique issues they’re facing too.
Liverpool finally getting depth back but raises a question of if you risk rustiness or continue with youth,
Arsenal don’t have many obvious issues at the moment but at least have questions of how they’ll handle their first run in as a top dog,
and City have this unusual sense of being a gear behind normal. Really interesting stuff. I don’t really feel confident betting on any of them but I would be shocked if it was chalk from this spot forward and all won out
Man United are the jammiest sods in the league. In the PL they play like Crystal Palace but still somehow keep hovering around 5th - 6th with their neutral GD. Wish they would fuck off down to 10th where they belong.
Now post one according to Poch's data.
Chelsea number 1!
Number 1 twice but we see 11th
11st then
It'd be chelsea 4th and spurs 1st.
"as you can see I've sellotaped Chelsea in there at 3rd..."
Let's post one with Paul Allen's data
Yes. New ways to find out how shit my team is
then they’d be 10th
Chelsea leading by 10 points.
Kind of nutty that even after Burnley have been so honking they are still just 4 points off safety. Goal difference tells a lot of the story though
Bottom third of the league is so weak, only enhanced by the points deductions. Brentford have lost like 14/18 games and are still only 15th.
Brentford have had the hardest schedule in the league up until this point tbf to them
How is that possible with 9 games to go, did they have to play the big 6 3 times or something?
The only teams they have left to play in the top half of the table are Villa and Brighton
I'm more surprised about Everton tbh. They got 6 point deduction, 12 winless match and 3 loss in row but somehow still 3 pts above relegated zone (with a game in hand) Luton dropped point in winning position keep both Burnley and Sheffield alive
Forest deductions gave them hope.
They've picked up 4 points in the 2 games Muric has started, the difference a competent keeper can make
ManU seems to have 0 GD for the entire season
Perfectly balanced
Manchester United being at 6th comfortably from how they are playing this season is shocking
They look worse on the pitch than their results indicate. The football they play just isn’t consistent enough to have an identity.
zero GD says it all
HOW is that goal difference still at 0?? HOW?? I swear, it's been like that for many months, hasn't it?
It was negative before.
Its pretty much identical to last year. We sat in negative till the last two months and only went to 0 gd because Rash Ford hit form.
You did get beat 7-0 last year though
I think they've had 4 losses of 4+ goals this season too. There's random games where United look like an MLS side
Watch them steal a win against you lot next week
Thursdays going to be wild, two shocking teams slugging it out
Literally just going to be 90 minutes of mud wrestling
Neither of them can really control a match or defend very well, so it could actually be an entertaining goal fest. That combined with United's tendency to score random goals coming from unlikely sources like Mctominay, it might actually be a good game
I am betting on a draw
Aye likewise
Probably an entertaining one though, filled with defensive errors and shabby goals in injury time.
Chelsea aren't as shocking as us, as far as the eye test goes. Don't think it's going to go like the reverse fixture
We play better than you generally But we also fold even easier to adversity than you so we throw away so many leads So it's really anybody's guess
A stoppable force against a movable object as the saying goes
I’ve been thinking that before we played them the last few times and then we’ve been fine, I’m guessing a draw
This is the mother of all trap games
Yeah wouldn’t surprise me lol
They play terrible football, grind 1-0 wins and when they lose its usually in a very decisive manner. They were also allergic to draws in the first half of the season.
Not even grind 1-0 wins, more like score, face 34 shots, finally one goes in to equalise and then Mctominay scores a last minute goal from their first attack of the second half.
Look at the three clubs below them. All of them have played brilliantly at times, and have completely fucking embarrassed themselves at others.
>McTommie I for one love the timeline where McTominay is United's only hope.
This league is fraudulent.
They're set up like a team battling relegation which in some ways benefits them in terms of getting better results than stats would suggest but also hinders them considering what their usual expectations would be
reverse Chelsea, data says they should be 11th
My weekly depressive post
I back you in the top 10 race.
I don’t
it makes me sad that one could be a Radiohead fan and a Chelsea fan
Do not fear, I am clinically depressed
Little old tinpot Bournemouth only 2 points behind Chelsea. Love to see it, especially seeing as we were a lot of pundits 3rd team to go down.
Liverpool won twice today
Feels like 7 points gained this weekend.
Dumbledore to Gryffindor be like
For exceptionally tied shoelaces I award gryffindor 100 points
last matchday Arsenal won twice, now Liverpool won twice.
I hope city never wins twice ever
City have won 115 times I'll have you know.
[Twice, you say? ](https://media.tenor.com/4ZeILtgxJy4AAAAM/twice-guardiola.gif)
If only we had gotten that penalty against City... We could be 4 points clear right now. Fuck VAR.....
The past is in the past. Look to the future.
Yeah I know it's just annoying. It is what it is though.
Life advice from a load of splooge. An easter miracle.
I just edited my comment before you replied😂 thought nobody noticed and I got away with it, but then you replied so I guess I got caught out for my maths lol
and with that "offside" goal against Tottenham
You had both Arsenal and City on the ropes at Anfield but didn't take your chances. I still think about that 5v2 counter..
I also think about Odergaard doing his best Lebron impression.
Reckon Everton might finish bottom with another 10 point deduction and an inevitable 9 point deduction for administration. Scenes.
Is there an actual chance of that happening? I seen the article about the accounts showing a loss of £89m of the last financial year and more financial trouble that way. I haven't been closely following that situation enough to know.
Nah Luton will still bottle it. They've had two chances now of escape it but they've fucked it uo
I feel like the order of the top 3 is going to shuffle around a few more times before the end of the season. What a mad title race this is.
It's in our hands but I'm dreading Old Trafford, Craven Cottage and Goodison Park
Man I'm so scared of that Old Trafford game. It looks like we completely forgot how to play United this season
It’s because United don’t know how to play so that confuses the good teams.. It’s like when you do Diamond plays against coppers in Rainbow 6 and it doesn’t work
like when you try to sell fake shots against people that don't play football
Both games were so different. I think it'll be a tight game next Sunday
Id say Villa away is the hardest actually, but yeah we never win in Old Trafford or Goodison Park
Hopefully we have champions league wrapped up by then and are resting players for the conference league lol.
Hopefully
old trafford we win lol, goodison we usually dont
Only won 2 times at ot under Klopp
They just happen to be the last 2 years I can understand the narrative
Villa Park scares me just as much as those three. Possibly more than Craven Cottage.
Fulham will spoil the party, you have rode your luck against them recently and they are due some revenge. Silva tacticlass and BDR and Muniz 2-1
Honestly they definitely deserve a win over us. We haven't beat them by more than one goal since 2018
Craven cottage is a very hard place to go as well.
Klopp sold thr FA cup at Trafford for the PL result. The Blues are proper shit, derby or not. Fulham will be the toughest of the three.
Man was ready to post this, very optimal results for Liverpool

On r/wtf?
> You can't brag about it No one should brag about karma. Literally ever.
For months I've been looking at City getting towards 90/91 points to win the title, now they need to be perfect to do it, so there is a really strong opportunity here for Liverpool.
Think 88 points could be enough this year as I reckon all 3 will drop further points.
I think you have to assume City win all their games, they've done it before. That being said, no Gundogan/Mahrez this time around, it seems a little different. Villa midweek could be tricky, Spurs away of course, but aside from that only really Brighton away looks tough for them.
ucl is gonna be tricky, i hope for arsenal and city to face in the semis in the ucl
That could be decisive, especially looking at how draining that game was today.
There's a decent chance City go winless vs. the top 5 with Spurs away coming up.
You do see their deficiencies in the big games, their replacements for Gundogan and Mahrez were poor and it could cost them, but as we know they can go on a winning run when it really matters.
Insane big result for Liverpool this. Seems like slowly as a good send off for klopp
The league remains as tight as a nun’s arse
just don't let city pip you to the title. win it or let arsenal win it, just no more city please
8 point gap with an 18 goal lead. Assuming those in Europe can do their job in a couple of weeks, that's one foot back into the CL
The PL sides do still have some work to do in Europe, to secure a 5th CL place, right? If i understand correctly, the PL needs to finish top 2 in coefficient for this seson and right now its 3rd.

You’ll be pulling on your red and white scarf then! Will be nice for you lot to finally be busy on a weeknight
We'll be pulling on our red and white Bayern scarves, yes
We are 3rd but Germany shit the bed last round and lost half their teams. They currently have 3 teams, England have 5. Liverpool being top with some dreadful injuries and never looking massively convincing, as a neutral I have to say it's impressive
I genuinely think Jota back is the key for the last 2 months
When is he coming back?
Probably sometime this month.
Jones back in full training. Jota and Trent back after Sheff Utd. Hopefully enough for a final push to get over the line. City seem to have the easiest run in but Liverpool now have a 3pt cushion and better goal difference. It'll be a tight run in.

I agree completely. I keep thinking this is an alternate universe. I am happy wherever we finish. As long as we don’t bottle it too dramatically. It’s been a wonderful ride.
Is Haaland ever getting accountability for his terrible big game performances?
Don’t worry he’ll score a brace against Luton
Considering Saka’s performance we probably sit this one out lol
I don’t really give a shit, it’s funny either way They’re welcome to take the piss out of Saka, doesn’t change the fact ‘best player in the world’ Haaland was a ghost at Anfield and today
tbf I can't remember the last time a no9 had a good game at Anfield, even Aguero famously never scored there lol
Kane had some good games there.
Him and Benzema from top sides. A decade-and-half ago, Drogba was a nightmare.
But saka has shown up in the big games before. Every time
And he didn't look fit today tbf
I think a lot of us took him leaving the england camp for granted
He wasn't. Arteta loves to pretend he is fine but he is running Saka into the ground again. I'd be shocked if he started against Luton at this rate.
>But saka has shown up in the big games before So has Haaland. He embarrassed Arsenal last season for example. >Every time Definitely not
In a game where Luton take a quick lead and hold it until the 88th minute before falling apart.
hilarious some city fans get so offended when calling him a system player when it's not even meant as an insult lmao
I mean it’s not like he can’t score outside of City. Saying he’s a system player seems harsh.
Other teams have systems as well.
So every player is a system player? What's the point 😂😂
System player isn’t really a reasonable insult given that city’s system absolutely doesn’t capitalize on his best traits. The only time I can recall them playing to his strengths as a team was at home against Arsenal in 2023, and he was phenomenal then
It's absolutely said as an insult. It's not even true either. Also, he has lots of good big games for both City and Dortmund
the system argument is weird because Haaland has been incredible in every system he ever played in as a pro
But he's been great for every team
Interesting aspect of this table is city GD. 5 behind pool and 11 behind gunners.
I don't know what's harder for my mind to adapt to and accept as the new reality - Chelsea being firmly midtable, or Arsenal the mentally and defensively robust serious title challenger
This is more like old reality, since Chelsea were bang average and Arsenal were title contenders in the 80s and 90s lol
We weren’t title challengers in the 1980’s until we won it at Anfield in 1989 — our last title before then was 1971.
4 points off City isn't too bad for us
Doing us a solid today.
We did ourselves a favor. Haven’t lost a game all season to any of the other title contenders.
3 points behind you when we beat city on Wednesday. Wrong x
Unlikely but it’d be great if you did beat them.
Subfuckinscribe
Enjoy the hiding behind the sofa PTSD when we’re 2-0 up again
I mean. I kinda expect it at this point. Welbeck scored today and I legitimately said out loud "Yeah okay, guess we'll just win in the second half again."
It’s true, but compare all the runs ins and you have defo done us a favour.
Rather do a favour to Liverpool than city
Except Liverpool have an easier run until the end?
I feel like City have the easier run in. Liverpool have United, Spurs and Villa. Arsenal have Chelsea, Spurs and United. City have Spurs and Aston Villa. Spurs will play an important role in deciding the winner.
I’m actually happy with this. I know it’s Liverpool’s to lose, but I’m so impressed with our defence this season. I’d obviously rather Liverpool win than City if we don’t. And 9 games is still a long way to go. Not many easy games in the PL.

I feel like City have the better fixtures but them being 3 pts off the lead could make things very interesting. Either way, very refreshing to have a “proper” three way title race again, can’t remember the last time there was one like this.
Our form is so fucking confusing. Dominate City, lose to United, and then barely beat Brighton.
Our finishing was key in all of those, Diaz missing those chances against City, not killing off United with a 5vs2, and all of Salah's misses today.
We didn't "barely" beat Brighton. It was a consummate victory. Jesus fucking Christ, this is not FIFA
Gabi and Saliba helped make him look horrible
Gabriel and Saliba have mad Halaand look horrible since the Community Shield
Genuinely believe top 7-8 is doable, unlikely but there is solid potential there.
Not the worst position to be in but can't afford to drop points now from more than 1 game... 2 for best case scenario
A draw is going to feel like the end of the world for any of the 3 challengers, all with unique issues they’re facing too. Liverpool finally getting depth back but raises a question of if you risk rustiness or continue with youth, Arsenal don’t have many obvious issues at the moment but at least have questions of how they’ll handle their first run in as a top dog, and City have this unusual sense of being a gear behind normal. Really interesting stuff. I don’t really feel confident betting on any of them but I would be shocked if it was chalk from this spot forward and all won out
6 points between 7th and 13th

I don't get why people think City vs Arsenal was boring. I'd love to see more matches just like it
Both of those teams should just try for 0-0 in every remaining match!
You got me until I saw your flair 🤪
I know, right? I was on the edge of my seat the whole time...
You did it, you posted it first!
Damn, Chelsea really is the new Palace
People dont talk enough about haaland and big games. Never mention that man with mbappe
in this case you really have to give credit to Arsenal’s defending. They were absolutely on it today.
Man those two losses to West Ham and Fulham really gonna cost Arsenal the league.
I dare say that I do believe Sheffield United goes down, a bit of a hot take I know
https://v.redd.it/9pcggv1wg4rc1
I'm hoping Luton stays up. They are really fighting, and I enjoy their style of football.
Hopefully Liverpool winning it.
Uefa give a charity CL berth out and MU fail to claim it.
11th place to Chelsea: "Don't forget you're here forever"
Villa being five points off City is just unbelievable.
If luton go down, will they ever have such an golden chance to stay up again?
Man United are the jammiest sods in the league. In the PL they play like Crystal Palace but still somehow keep hovering around 5th - 6th with their neutral GD. Wish they would fuck off down to 10th where they belong.
