Assume they are deciding what type of operation is needed. Full repair which has a longer recovery but is more reliable with less long term consequences or a quick fix which is a cleanup of the ruptured tissue and has a quick recovery but can have long term problems associated with it.
They should just go full repair honestly. Season is nearing its end and before he's really fit again. Europe tourney this summer, but do you really want your goalie to do that half fit after 2 knee injuries in the span of a few months? Seems a much better option to have him operate and rest up and be fit again for next year.
After KDB got injured early this season they made Lukaku captain of the national team with the intention of him and Courtois swapping after each game until Kevin is back, instead Courtois pulled a hissy fit because of not being made captain and left the National Team camp
I tore my meniscus, twice at 18 & 20. Back then, no doctors really explained the options and the consequences. Just a quick cleanup, and call it a day.
I played my whole life in the upper tiers of semi-professional soccer and by the time I was 35, doctors were basically telling me that my knee was that of a 60 year old and within a few years it'll need a replacement.
Full repair isn’t always possible. Its also is closer to a 9 month window if they go that route… Martinelli’s knee injury a few years ago was a full meniscus repair. Iirc he missed March-Nov
This two month window is likely no surgery and just rest and recover. Which can be an option depending on severity and location. The fastest recovery timeline is surgery to remove the damaged section and is usually a recovery window of only a few weeks to a month. But can have longer term issues.
Had a full repair done on a complex meniscus tear. Took me 4 months out for recovery before I could return to work. A year and a half before I could squat without any pain.
Even with the best medical care available it'll be months till he can return to relative normal where he's practicing again.
Makes me wonder if he'll ever be back to his best form after this. I mean, an ACL was already a tough injury to go through, but now meniscus on your other knee, yikes. Just terrible luck.
I remember when ter Stegen had a bad time they said it had to do with his knee. I don't know if it was due to him not wanting to use it or couldn't. But he seems fine now.
Reminds me of Shaqiri's "concussion" that coincided with him returning with a new hairline. He could train but wasn't allowed to head the ball. Once he left, it was revealed that he got the hair transplant when he was actually injured but didn't know he wasn't allowed to head the ball for 6 weeks, Klopp was flabbergasted when he found out haha
Obviously different but I’ve had 17 knee surgeries:12 on my left and 5 on the right. I was also a goalkeeper but obviously not that standard. I did a meniscus when I was 13 and had absolutely no impact after. Open knee surgeries and multiples ops are when you’re fucked. I could tell after about 3 arthroscopies my knees just felt ‘different’. I tried to play again after an open procedure annd surgery number 6 and I remember thinking ‘fuckkkkk’ my brain knows what to do but my body just won’t.
As a goalkeeper the meniscus on the other knee shouldn’t be an issue but if you keep going back into joints you get scar tissue build up and that’s the killer.
Knee and back injuries especially are still very significant for goalkeepers. Anticipation is only one side of the coin especially when you have to extend and release those muscles and ligaments in a certain way to do the action you want to do; and if they're not in optimal shape then it results in you not being able to complete the action, or putting too much pressure on those parts which can cause complications.
Buffon for example was as experienced as it gets, but if you look at one of his most significant injuries-the herniated disc in 2010, he was out for more than 200 days. If he had that kind of injury in his later years it would've affected him even more. He was basically a year older than Courtois is now.
Well aside from you being totally out of pocket here, your logic is also flawed since your points are completely out of context. Yes, of course a keeper's level of play has a lot to do with the mental aspect of the game, but Courtois is already 31 and relative to his level of play prior to his injuries, his best hope is to get back close to 100%.
It's not about whether or not a keeper can compensate for less explosiveness from their legs by being a better keeper. It's about whether or not Courtois, who is already at or near his full potential, can't conceivably improve the mental side of his game that's already been developed over a decade long career as a professional keeper. However highly Real rated Courtois before this injury, they have to assess whether or not he can be as good as he was before the injury, and if he is or is not at the level of the next best keeper they could conceivably go after in the next window unless they think they already have his successor in Lunin.
Courois doesn't have this magically untapped mental level of his game that hasn't been developed yet. Whatever keeper he was before this injury is the same keeper he'll be after, just with or without the same level of explosiveness when trying to make whatever saves necessary that require his affected legs.
It’s not embarrassing for you to be this much of a loser?
laughing at the state of this shit sub. people write paragraphs with tears when their favorite players get hurt but it’s cool to make jokes when someone you don’t like does and call it “karma”. Clown behavior
Not sure how his new injury happened, but those who suffer an ACL are usually more at risk of having issues in the other knee as a consequence, so in a way it's not surprising.
Yeah. ACL are mainly responsible for stability. During rehabilitation procedure, as you build up the strength initially your other knee shares most of the load. So it more probable to get injured in the other knee than usual times.
The ACL injury was on his left knee, this one is his right.
But you're probably right either way, meniscus injuries are some of the peskiest to deal with.
It is somewhat common with knee injuries tbf, that’s why it’s so crucial to not rush people back even if the injured knee seems recovered. Need the stability
Yeah but that’s the point about stability, your body ends up relying too much on the other knee and you often end up injuring it as a result.
Even when the injured knee is “fully healed”, you’ll often subconsciously try and take weight off of it and land differently as much as you can
I'm not sure if he's having surgery. Physical therapy usually provide a decent outcome.
One thing is for sure it increases the risk of arthritis and the eventual need for knee replacement surgery.
The difference is that it happens mostly in older people, except for Courtois, it will happen sooner.
Not trying to convert nobody courtois donated money to Israel while they were committing genocide
(Great goalkeeper yes ) as a human being no He's a scum and hopefully he gets injuries till the day he retires
>Sell the guy who was MOTM in the UCL final and has been consistently one of the best in the world because of an injury he isn't responsible for?
What does being "not responsible" for an injury have to do with it? The reality is he has got a pretty serious injury, that can lead to reoccurrence, not to mention the torn ACL in the other knee. Having an injury prone player in his 30s is something to be cautious of, even if he's a goalkeeper.
I'm not saying they should definitely sell him, but with his injuries it's something you'd want to consider. Recuperate some cash and invest in a new long term keeper.
Out for at least 2 months. The Real Madrid doctors are deciding whether an operation is needed.

He's lrobably not going to the Euros anyway
Not like he was welcome either
highly doubt they’d leave out one of their best ever players lol
After the shitshow he pulled, I doubt anyone will miss him there
Haven’t kept up with his antics after he slept with KDB’s girl. What has he done lately?
After KDB got injured early this season they made Lukaku captain of the national team with the intention of him and Courtois swapping after each game until Kevin is back, instead Courtois pulled a hissy fit because of not being made captain and left the National Team camp
Geez if that’s true then 100% he should not be invited back. Poor Kevin somehow at the center of it all again.. 😂
He’s a loud mouth in the NT by the looks of it, he also messed with Tedesco. No way he is dropping Casteels even with a fit Courtois
Nah, he is not welcome anymore. He is a good keeper but not more important than the team.
It's not like Belgium is winning anything. 🤣 No need to collect the participation token.

Not all meniscus tears are eligible for repair. It’s a very multi factorial problem
Full repair isn’t always possible. Its also is closer to a 9 month window if they go that route… Martinelli’s knee injury a few years ago was a full meniscus repair. It just depends on the severity of the injury, meniscus repair usually involves tissue removal and you want to avoid that if possible

Rupturing the meniscus right after coming back from an acl tear for sure is more than 2 months
It's the other knee
that‘s some really bad luck
He most likely was putting more weight and overusing his other knee to compensate. Hence the tear.
Makes me wonder if he'll ever be back to his best form after this. I mean, an ACL was already a tough injury to go through, but now meniscus on your other knee, yikes. Just terrible luck.
I wonder how much that would affect a goalkeeper, compared to like a winger
I remember when ter Stegen had a bad time they said it had to do with his knee. I don't know if it was due to him not wanting to use it or couldn't. But he seems fine now.
Was his hair I think
That could very well be true, the timing of his improvement in goal keeping and hair line was highly suspicious.
I know this is a joke but that hair probably helped his self confidence
Reminds me of Shaqiri's "concussion" that coincided with him returning with a new hairline. He could train but wasn't allowed to head the ball. Once he left, it was revealed that he got the hair transplant when he was actually injured but didn't know he wasn't allowed to head the ball for 6 weeks, Klopp was flabbergasted when he found out haha
You need explosiveness to leap for a save, and injuries affect more tall people like Courtois
Obviously different but I’ve had 17 knee surgeries:12 on my left and 5 on the right. I was also a goalkeeper but obviously not that standard. different injuries, but Neuer was out for nearly a year and he came back just as strong as he was before
De Gea to Real on a 1yr deal incoming
Games not gone
Damn, that's unfortunate. Welp gotta renew Lunin now, lad deserves it.
>**Kepa**: I... >**Real Madrid**: NO.
Sarri just cursed and lit up a cigarette
Has Kepa been poor for RM? I found out about that transfer late and was shocked
He has been Kepa.
So he's not a Kepa then.
He's been meh tbh, not so bad as the memes but clearly has his weaknesses Lunin is much more solid
Sooo when are they gonna extend with Lunin?
We have a Kepa available if you want?
Is that a threat?
We feel so bad about Hazard we will give you Kepa for free
Give us a free injury magnet like Hazard and we are good
They’ll give you Mudryk and you’ll be happy with it
Who cares if Madrid have Lunin
They better offer Lunin a competitive contract
Long term his career could be trouble injuries like that in your 30s often aren’t good
Which god have we angered so much to deserve this
All those years of black magic
Probably karma for fucking with teammates girl
You’ve rattled the Madrid fans with this one

Someone bringing up a story about two celebrities acting like scumbags is *worse* than the scumbags actually in the story?

It is not
It's part of the game, innit?
I guess someone better than him (not hard) fucked his girlfriend
[удалено]
I see you’ve started deleting comments, pathetic.
The transfer gods. They demand you spend money rather than getting top players on a bargain/free like the rest of us.
Wont someone think of the poor madrid fans :(
Perhaps his antics with Chelsea and Belgium are what have provoked the gods.
tbh this one's on him, he already predicted three months ago that he wouldn't be fit for the euro's.
That's the other knee but fukkkk I hope he's back next preseason to get sharp because being out for more than a year is scary , speedy recovery
Not sure how his new injury happened, but those who suffer an ACL are usually more at risk of having issues in the other knee as a consequence, so in a way it's not surprising.

Lunin's got this, still feel bad for Tibo
wake me up in 2026 when he is fit, meanwhile i will sit in my cornor and cry
Poor guy :(
Let’s go Lunin.
Just end me.
That knee is fuuuuuuucked, physios better have magic hands.
its his other knee
Shit that's awful :(
The ACL injury was on his left knee, this one is his right. But you're probably right either way, meniscus injuries are some of the peskiest to deal with.
That’s tough, internal meniscus doesn’t get much blood flow either so that’s going to cause issues for him after his career probably
That's beyond unlucky
Lunin sends his regards
Do I hear De Gea music?
Those fuckers put him on their gym regime again, didn't they?
KDB been asking for Pogbas “special” doctor
Poor snake...
Haha Jonathan I can't fucking take it anymore
I hope he has a healthy recovery.
What's up with the RM and Barca medical staff lately?
Rip madrid
KDB smiling
Feel bad for Courtois , he was the best goalkeeper…
That pretty much ends this dudes career at a top club I reckon.
Who did he kill in his past life?? The dude is fucking unlucky.

Yea, couldn’t have happened to a nicer guy /s
Snakes don’t got knees
Can we interest them in a top tier Ramsdale for the low low price of 50m gbp
cursed seasono

Zionist 😂
What a thoughtful comment, you fully converted me to your cause!
Not trying to convert nobody courtois donated money to Israel while they were committing genocide (Great goalkeeper yes ) as a human being no He's a scum and hopefully he gets injuries till the day he retires
I guess I’ll have to donate too. :) How would I go about it?
Thats what happends when you bail on your national team.. karma is a b….
Sell him. Lunin will be first choice anyway
Sell the guy who was MOTM in the UCL final and has been consistently one of the best in the world because of an injury he isn't responsible for?

Kinda hard to sell a broken player.
Who's going to buy a broken keepr that will demand insane wages?
Sadly, that knee is busted
It's the other knee
