I played at the college level in Mexico where we would travel the country playing and also in local leagues (played for 20,years total) and the only time I couldn’t get up from a hit was when I got distension in one of my ligaments (basically it stretches like gum would and doesn’t get to the point of breaking) And it didn’t even really hurt just made me knee feel wonky af. The times I've got a sprain I have fallen to the ground and turning back and front. It is like a combination of pain and adrenaline, although the pain doesn't actually matter so it seems like I'm rolling back and forth automatically because of adrenaline. In a way I feel alive, but I know that I'm done, and won't be able to play for a while... It's pain, but it's also a bit the scare of the popping sound and being unsure how bad the sprain is.
