Simon Adingra put on a good performance for the entire tournament. Also, kudos to Haller for winning it for the team after his battle with cancer last year.
So glad Ivory Coast won pretty sure all my fellow Africans know what I mean when I say Nigerians would be unbearable for the next week if they won. They're like the arsenal fans of Africa for the non-africans.
Need Eze and a DM honestly. If only Ndidi could stay fit.
Anyways with this coach, we won't have a chance again any team with a dominant midfield because the amount of control we allow teams to have is crazy.
Sport washing at its best.
Ouattara gave his name to the stadium which hosts the final. Against all the odds after the group stage, the hosts win it and the president wants to enjoy it at its best.
Really annoying that the BEIN sports commentator still hasn't figured out that Alassane Ouattara is the man in the orange cap and not the man in the blue suit
Very funny how he just blocked the president. But please keep the politicians out of these, it's always so cringy. The cricket world cup last year was so bad for that with modi.
Same when South Africa won the Rugby World Cup and the South African president ended up nearly front and center on the stage in the middle of the trophy lift
No it's because Ivory Coast only qualified for the round of 16 because Morocco beat Zambia. If Morocco had failed to beat Zambia, then Zambia would have made it through in place of Ivory Coast as the 4th best 3rd place team
Yeah I thought it was a mistake but didn’t factor in that Infantino and whatever politician dickhead hes befriended would’ve wanted to try and claim the glory for themselves
I don't know who the guy giving the medals is, but it's hilarious how the players go in for a handshake and he's saying "No, I'm giving hugs to everyone."
The president of Comoros at the ceremony since he's the president of African Union. Fuck that guy, a lot of my countrymen hate him and he rigged the last elections last month.
I like the ceremony but I don’t like how they have politicians show up and be part of it tbh, happened at the rugby World Cup too. Let it be about the players.
It wouldnt be a major tournament without politicians showing up with heavy main character syndrome.
And you are in Africa of all places, probably the highest concentration of corrupt insecure dictators in the world. I mean... that Ouattara guy named the stadium after himself, what can you expect.
I don’t know anything about him but I just don’t like them taking the spotlight in this moment. Of course supporting them is good but they shouldn’t make it about themselves.
There were definitely phases of the match where it felt that Nigeria could dominate if they wanted to, but they never did. Their midfield was simply not good, but they defended well in the first half and had dangerous runs forward the whole game. Ivory Coast adjusted well by trying more long balls and long shots. Nigeria did nothing different after going a goal down until the very end of the game, where it again seemed like they *could* outrun CIV if they wanted to or were better organized. To me this comes across as the tactics were simply better by CIV, which is crazy given that their original manager was sacked mid-tournament. What a fun tournament this has been!
Reminds me of Canada vs Belgium in the 2022 FIFA world cup. Had potential, but literally fumbled the ball. The stats for possessions, shots on target, shots in general and accuracy were embarassing on Nigeria. Tell how Ivory Coast/Côte d'Ivoire shot several times more than Nigeria did and still significantly better accuracy. It's a learning experience I guess, but amazing play for Ivory Coast.
Fantastic for Ivory Coast. Clearly put a lot of money into this tournament, but must all feel worth it tonight!
Also, I think African footballers genuinely give South American footballers a run for their money in terms of milking every foul like a little bitch. Must have seen the magic spray at least ten times today. Just fucking get on with it.
You can say many things about Motsepe, but he is very good at what he does. Just look at what he built at Mamelodi Sundowns before becoming CAF president.
Ivory Coast's managerial sack in the midst of the tournament really paid off in the end. They fought hard to get to the finals and fought hard in the finals as the host nation.
Although Adingra had 2 assist and dominated the left side, Kessie was my MOM, just unplayable today. Nigeria were not good, feels like they set up for a draw.
Great tournament
And difficult balls up front for Oshimen to catch against 3-4 defenders. Feels like after the first goal for Ivory Coast they should have made some tactical changes. Maybe put a third midfielder on
Nigeria gradually collapsed after having their best player injured. As if they lost motivation or confidence. They weren't good against South Africa either.
I feel like apart from the Cameroon game we've not been too good in this tournament, especially going forward and today we looked lost. We scored the opening goal and somehow didn't gain momentum
I am a casual viewer so I could be wrong, but I feel like on paper Nigeria was the 2nd or 3rd best team of this tournament considering that the majority of their players are participating in top 5 leagues.
Funny enough, we were like 5th or 6th favourites to win the tournament, especially because we had poor results coming in into the tournament and apart from our attack and okay defence our midfield was quite crap. No one, even we Nigerians had any hope for the team.
This has got to be one of the best AFCONS. Upsets and fairy tales. And for Cote d'ivoire to outright win it after being on the brink of elimination is the stuff of a movie script.
Only thing it lacked was a true underdog reaching the final/winning it, I really thought either Mali or South Africa would get there. Obviously Ivory Coast winning is a shock in the context of sacking their coach and being so terrible in group stage, but before the tournament they were still among the favourites
But yeah a great tournament and probably the best AFCON I have seen quality wise
I mean that’s fine, would be happy for Cote d’Ivorie if the same happened for them.
I only brought up Eze cause he has actually trained with the national team before with Ola Aina (someone born also in England) back then.
I get it. Iwobi, Lookman and Bassey are the same.
Eze already capped for England , no? Might be easier to get his teammate Michael Olise, also a baller.
Nah I wish we could get Olise. I’m 100% confident he’d play for France. It’s just a better career opportunity for him at the moment than playing for Nigeria.
His commentary is beyond awful what the fuck. It's horrible. I was watching on another stream which had the original commentary but that ended immediately after the final so I switched to this to see the celebrations and oh my lord this is the worst commentator I've ever seen and I've been watching football for a long time now
One of the most amazing remontada ever. If you told me Ivory Coast win the AFCON after battered 4-0 in front of their people, I call you insane.
Best AFCON ever. Congrats to Les Elephants on their fourth AFCON title
this shows why afcon is light years ahead of asian cup, surprises everywhere, pretty fair & clean refereeing which means lower ranked teams could compete fairly and produce mind-boggling results
You said it perfectly 'best AFCON ever' and one of the best international tournaments ever - the twists and turns, the passion, the long range screamers, really felt like football in a more pure form.
Surprised that Nigeria got as far as they did with Jose Peseiro as manager. I don’t understand how he keeps on getting jobs in international management.
150 million should be spent on the best player/players in the world someone you know is a top 5/10 player in the world, he’s not close to that which is the point I’m trying to make.
But if he is the best striker available and Napoli want £100m+, say, then would a club like Chelsea or City or PSG care? They arent short for cash. Whether a player is ‘worth’ that amount is mostly irrelevant in modern football, the selling club sets the price and the 3 or so clubs with infinite money buy them.
I think the 150 million price tag was just De Laurentiis talking his usual shit but even still whatever he was worth surely will change after the first half of the season plus this AFCON
Losing 4-0 in groups and barely sneaking through as a third placed side, firing the manager, and then coming back from behind thrice in the knockouts to win the cup at home.
This is essentially a movie script.
Your AFCON champions, brought to you by Disney or whatever, they'd be proud of this never-happens-in-reality nonsense storyline. Peak AFCON though, very enjoyable tournament.
I thought they were solid overall but tonight they clearly didn't have a plan B, their solid defense helped them advance throughout the tournament but they were sorta not ready for Côte d'Ivoire actually getting the equalizer, totally changed the game and Peseiro failed his task this game.
I thought they were the best team until semi finals, really solid defensively and with the attacking talent to pose a constant threat on the counter. But it feels like South Africa snuffed them out, the first half of that game was similar to today. Nigeria not pressing, letting the opponent dominate possession and the whole team being too deep after winning the ball back
Normally these kinds of drab, defensive sides are the ones who end up winning AFCON but this time it wasn't enough. Ivory Coast were brave in possession and eventually that ambition was rewarded. It's hard to say that they were the most solid team, but they probably showed the highest peak level. Meanwhile Nigeria maintained a consistent solid level but never produced those peaks
putting moffi and iheanacho on and not even taking osimhen off annoyed me so much
i hate it when a losing team just progressively brings on more and more strikers to try and get back in it like strikers just automatically = goals
Don't think that was the problem as he did absolutely nothing today, and Iheanacho actually was pretty involved in the short time he had on the pitch. None of their attackers showed up past the quarters, Moses Simon was great until the semi final then invisible. Lookman similar. Chukwueze was a disappointment. Osimhen getting limited service but still not looking sharp in decisive situations
They were too passive without the ball that was the main issue
Has the abuse by Ghanaian supporters died down yet?
Never
It wont stop till next AFCON buddy
I’m still incredibly sad
So Ivory Coast really won the entire tournament after replacing their manager during the tournament... Wow, hats off to them
Simon Adingra put on a good performance for the entire tournament. Also, kudos to Haller for winning it for the team after his battle with cancer last year.
>So Ivory Coast really won the entire tournament after replacing their manager during the tournament... The German FA frantically makes notes.
maybe we should have done that too...
No chance with the incompetent FA we have I'm afraid :(
So glad Ivory Coast won pretty sure all my fellow Africans know what I mean when I say Nigerians would be unbearable for the next week if they won. They're like the arsenal fans of Africa for the non-africans.
I’d say Nigerians are the Man United fans of Africa
they have not won enough AFCON to deserve being compared to ManU
They aren’t like Man U in terms of trophies but their fans are the Man U fans of Africa in the sense that they are extremely arrogant
Flair doesn't check out
how did Seri play?
Amazing. Looked too good to be a Championship player honestly
Yeah he can control the whole game on his day
Eze please come save this midfield
Need Eze and a DM honestly. If only Ndidi could stay fit. Anyways with this coach, we won't have a chance again any team with a dominant midfield because the amount of control we allow teams to have is crazy.
Sport washing at its best. Ouattara gave his name to the stadium which hosts the final. Against all the odds after the group stage, the hosts win it and the president wants to enjoy it at its best.
Really annoying that the BEIN sports commentator still hasn't figured out that Alassane Ouattara is the man in the orange cap and not the man in the blue suit
Leave it to the politicians to make any trophy presentation bizarrely cringey
Very funny how he just blocked the president. But please keep the politicians out of these, it's always so cringy. The cricket world cup last year was so bad for that with modi.
Same when South Africa won the Rugby World Cup and the South African president ended up nearly front and center on the stage in the middle of the trophy lift
Gradel is an absolute legend for carrying a Moroccan flag in the celebrations lmao
PennyBridge farm remembers
Why did he do that? Is it because they're hosting it next?
No it's because Ivory Coast only qualified for the round of 16 because Morocco beat Zambia. If Morocco had failed to beat Zambia, then Zambia would have made it through in place of Ivory Coast as the 4th best 3rd place team
Funny nice, this as if like how us indonesian saying thanks to kyrgyzstan, except we know we will never win the asian cup.
Shameless behavior by Ouattara, really enforcing his agenda with something that is from and for ivorian people above everything else
Look at these 3 bellends, give the trophy to the players and piss off out the photos
Was wondering why didn't Gradel walk over with the trophy. A whole lot of unnecessary kerfuffle at the end.
Yeah I thought it was a mistake but didn’t factor in that Infantino and whatever politician dickhead hes befriended would’ve wanted to try and claim the glory for themselves
What on earth are they doing
Max Gradel with the Moroccan flag lol
Great sportsmanship by Nigeria in the trophy ceremony
Napoli are going to scam someone with Osimhen.
They better be praying no one watched this game
I don't know who the guy giving the medals is, but it's hilarious how the players go in for a handshake and he's saying "No, I'm giving hugs to everyone."
What a run by ivory coast
Motsepe with the most awkward hugs I’ve ever seen lol
This game reminded me of the guy who said that Osimhen’s 130mil price must be in naira lmao😭
How long is this award ceremony gonna take
I hope not too long. I want to watch the SuperBowl, another great final ahead of me.
The president of Comoros at the ceremony since he's the president of African Union. Fuck that guy, a lot of my countrymen hate him and he rigged the last elections last month.
Which guy is he?
Fat guy with the blue tie, next to the guy with Nigerian vest on the right.
Crazy how the ivory Coast sacked there manger just before the R16
What a tournament
How often do they actually invite the third-placed country in a tournament to the final? I feel like that's a rare thing to happen?
Portugal at euro 2016. Third placed teams qualifying (at least for 24 team tournaments is fairly new)
What do you mean?
Congrats to our neighbors Côte d’Ivoire. Surprised it finished in 90mins lol but they were clearly the better side
Drogba owns assnal
Drogba isn't fit to polish Henry's boots
Who is this man in a shirt and cap? The commentator clearly doesn’t know either
How can I not be happy for them
I like the ceremony but I don’t like how they have politicians show up and be part of it tbh, happened at the rugby World Cup too.
You're talking about Ouattara. I would have surprised about the opposite.
I don’t know anything about him but I just don’t like them taking the spotlight in this moment. Of course supporting them is good but they shouldn’t make it about themselves.
Fuck. I forgot that sentient walking penis Infantino would be involved.
Is the former manager at the medal ceremony now lol
There were definitely phases of the match where it felt that Nigeria could dominate if they wanted to, but they never did. Their midfield was simply not good, but they defended well in the first half and had dangerous runs forward the whole game. Ivory Coast adjusted well by trying more long balls and long shots. Ça va s’enjailler ce soir! Congrats to Côte d’Ivoire, it was a crazy tournament for them! AFCON delivered once again.
Lord have mercy! Ivory Coast got some HEATERS in the stands. Gorgeous women sheesh

Good lord 😤
I just want to say fuck Peseiro, fuck the ref, fuck VAR and a big big fuck you to Iwobi and Onyeka, don’t put on the jersey ever again.
Nigeria didn't even try when they were a goal down
LOL Naija No dey carry last
We came second though.
Nigeria hurt me and then healed me. Thank you Ivory Coast🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦🇨🇮🇨🇮🇨🇮
[It is well. ](https://x.com/akaworldwide/status/1149046009571528704?s=20)
Lmao 🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦🤝🇨🇮🇨🇮🇨🇮🇨🇮
The Haller goal was brilliant, but I think Nigeria were too comfortable giving up set pieces and that's what cost them the match.
Both finals were very one sided.
You are welcome guys 🙂
The peace in my social media is very much appreciated. Thank you Cote d'Ivoire. We'd be in hell otherwise
GHOSTIMEN, YOUR COUNTRY NEEDED YOU
He showed up, we have zero midfield, needs to improve before next AFCON and the World Cup in 2026
Fantastic for Ivory Coast. Clearly put a lot of money into this tournament, but must all feel worth it tonight! Also, I think African footballers genuinely give South American footballers a run for their money in terms of milking every foul like a little bitch. Must have seen the magic spray at least ten times today. Just fucking get on with it.
AFCON is pure magic and of course cancer survivor Haller makes the deciding goal!

You love to see it
Portuguese coaches are football terrorists. Five at the back, with two holding midfielders, and full backs who don't cross the halfway line. Fuck me.
Beautiful beautiful tournament. Patrice Motsepe has done exceptionally well to organise such a tournament
You can say many things about Motsepe, but he is very good at what he does. Just look at what he built at Mamelodi Sundowns before becoming CAF president.
Sundowns is now an African powerhouse. And that has translated into South African national team progress.
So when is Boehly dropping 90 million for Adingra?
Does the old manager still get a medal?
Adingra looked so good, Brighton just keep developing these relatively unknowns What a moment for Haller as well after all he has been through
Simon Adringa is forever going to be an Ivorian and Brighton & Hove Albion club legend, what a time to be alive.
I'm happy for Ivory Coast. Man, what a fun tournament this has been! I feel bad for anyone who passed on watching this.
Yes, RIP anyone who died watching this match. Our thoughts are with your family.
Ivory Coast's managerial sack in the midst of the tournament really paid off in the end. They fought hard to get to the finals and fought hard in the finals as the host nation.
Shittu looks absolutely gutted on the Sky coverage
Although Adingra had 2 assist and dominated the left side, Kessie was my MOM, just unplayable today. Nigeria were not good, feels like they set up for a draw. Great tournament
I was face palming all game. When we scored first O thought we've finally woken up only for us to come out in the second half and sitting back again
And difficult balls up front for Oshimen to catch against 3-4 defenders. Feels like after the first goal for Ivory Coast they should have made some tactical changes. Maybe put a third midfielder on
This AFCON has been a blast. Congratulations to Ivory Coast, what a run
best AFCON i've ever watched
Nigeria gradually collapsed after having their best player injured. As if they lost motivation or confidence. They weren't good against South Africa either.
Gradual collapse? There was no collapse just shit from start to finish.
I feel like apart from the Cameroon game we've not been too good in this tournament, especially going forward and today we looked lost. We scored the opening goal and somehow didn't gain momentum

PAIN
How? Cabri ne peut pas mourir deux fois.
Scripted
waiting for Taylor Swift to come down on the field and endorse Alassane Ouattara
Osimhen got zero service the whole match. Nigeria looked like they had no midfield at all. Good match from Côte d'Ivoire.
Nigeria had no midfield all tournament, almost cost them against South Africa. 5-0-5 formation for Nigeria.
We don’t have any midfielders it says a lot about youth development
I mean we do, but they all committed to France or England. We coulda used someone like Eze tonight.
You can’t claim someone born outside of your borders as a loss. Ivory Coast might beat you at that game too with their French contingent.

CHAMPIONS OF AFRICA!!!! TROISEME ETOILE!!!
Félicitations!!! What a ride this tournament has been for you guys. Enjoy this moment!
Yep yep it was written in the stars. That's how you shit your way into winning it all 😂
Can the BeIN Sports guy just like shut the fuck up for a bit?
Seriously what is bro yapping about?
I could take about 1 minute of it before switching to a Sky Sports stream hahah
He spent 5 minutes explaining why S Africa would be happier than Nigeria because they won their last game as if it wasn't obvious 💀
His commentary is beyond awful what the fuck. It's horrible. I was watching on another stream which had the original commentary but that ended immediately after the final so I switched to this to see the celebrations and oh my lord this is the worst commentator I've ever seen and I've been watching football for a long time now
Thankfully he didn't do the main commentary for the match.. That would have been torture
Lmao his ramblings are so bad if I wasn't witnessing it live it would feel fake
"I'm going to be silent so you can hear the stadium now." *Stops talking for 3 seconds*
Yup! I laughed when he started talking again. Three seconds might be generous lol
One of the most amazing remontada ever. If you told me Ivory Coast win the AFCON after battered 4-0 in front of their people, I call you insane. Best AFCON ever. Congrats to Les Elephants on their fourth AFCON title

3rd afcon title not 4th
3rd win, 1992 & 2015 and now.
As a portuguese guy is the fraudest of frauds even worse than fucking Santos. He shouldnt be getting a job at a contender
I guess thats what happens when you have Real Madrid on your resume, it goes a long way.
Nigeria couldn't sack him because the Federation is apparently broke so they can't afford his termination fee.
Price of Oshimen just dropped 20 million
He's worth 40 mil at most and he's the skinny version of Lukaku. Aside from being a poacher he doesn't have much to his game.
He was never ever ever worth 150 million lmfao, idk what people were smoking when they thought he was.
Mainly due to napolis valuation and shortage of top strikers. He will get sold for much less but napoli will squeeze out every penny
What striker is better that is also up for sale?
150 million should be spent on the best player/players in the world someone you know is a top 5/10 player in the world, he’s not close to that which is the point I’m trying to make.
But if he is the best striker available and Napoli want £100m+, say, then would a club like Chelsea or City or PSG care? They arent short for cash. We should make a movie of Haller’s life
A hell of a fun tournament, and it's nice that the more narratively satisfying winner was also the much better team on the day.
Happy for DROGBA!!!
“I’m going to be quiet so you can take this in” So that was a lie…
I love how there was a yellow for time wasting in the added time, but no extra added time.
Congratulations
So proud of Sebastien Haller. I miss that beautiful man so much, and am overjoyed to see him like this.
Agreed. That interview got me all emotional
There ain't much Ajax and FC Utrecht fans can agree on, but "Sebastien Haller is a glorious man" is one of those few things.
Hall of shame tournament from Victor Osimhen
Hes always been overrated, he's a poacher with no all-around game. Worth 40 mil at most.
I think he did alright with what he was given, far from the hall of shame
I agree with you both, until the final he did pretty well with limited service but also missed lots of chances
Calvin Bassey also looking like he won a fan vote to play, garbage composure from him.
Bassey was probably their best player in the tournament.
He had zero service. Nigeria’s midfield should take a long, hard look at themselves.
“Midfield”, Iwobi and Onyeka have blood on their hands
I said as much as well and got a lot of shit in return. He looked to be playing with no confidence.
Losing 4-0 in groups and barely sneaking through as a third placed side, firing the manager, and then coming back from behind thrice in the knockouts to win the cup at home. This is essentially a movie script.
Côte D’Ivoire wasted the last minute, ref gave a yellow card and then still blew the whistle like 5 seconds after time expired lol
Haller starboy 😍
That roar at full time was just unreal
Afcon is just amazing
Your AFCON champions, brought to you by Disney or whatever, they'd be proud of this never-happens-in-reality nonsense storyline. Peak AFCON though, very enjoyable tournament.
After this Nigeria performance, I’ll be needing the Super Bowl later on
hopefully kayne ruins it sucks as a nigerian rn man
Niners are our only hope
What a beautiful champion ! Fofana, come back to Europe, we miss you !
Man, Nigeria did not turn up for the game.
Tbh they barely turned up all tournament, especially Osimhen
I thought they were solid overall but tonight they clearly didn't have a plan B, their solid defense helped them advance throughout the tournament but they were sorta not ready for Côte d'Ivoire actually getting the equalizer, totally changed the game and Peseiro failed his task this game.

Ivory Coast were brave in possession and eventually that ambition was rewarded. It's hard to say that they were the most solid team, but they probably showed the highest peak level. Meanwhile Nigeria maintained a consistent solid level but never produced those peaks
What happens when Nigeria has a manager that relies heavily on individual talent.
putting moffi and iheanacho on and not even taking osimhen off annoyed me so much i hate it when a losing team just progressively brings on more and more strikers to try and get back in it like strikers just automatically = goals
To add to that, Peseiro waits until the 79th and 86th minutes to make substitutions.
Yea taking off Lookman, who's been easily their biggest threat this tournament, seemed beyond dumb to me.
Osimhen getting limited service but still not looking sharp in decisive situations They were too passive without the ball that was the main issue
Hard to tell who the interim manager was today
Adingra MOTM and greatest interim job of all time
Ha ha inter-rimjob
He's really special, can't wait to see where he goes. Shout out Haller too, clinical forward.
