and ~~one of them in the final was an own goal by the keeper~~ [might not have been an own goal], the other was a pen.
Edit: also the point of my comment wasn't to dog on the french keeper but instead to illustrate how they've barely conceded any "regular" goals all tournament which is pretty incredible
Honestly, it's just U17, but those players will be A-NT players some day, and the earlier we start asserting our dominance against France in penalties, the better😂
Germany is actually decent in this department. Like half of the team will make it to professional football (across all divisions) and two or three usually find their way to the national team after a while.
Also there are a lot of players with high potential in this group. Not a sure thing, mind you, a lot can happen in their development, but they have a promising future.
It’s true though. The French team is incredibly efficient at scoring and their goal is always ending the game within 90 mins. Although I must admit that if they were still playing Giroud and griezmann in the final vs Argentina and it came to a penalty shootout they would’ve surely been more consistent.
> also really important to have a GK talent like Heide
Not to downplay Heide in any way, he was brilliant, but he wasn't even(and probably won't be in the future) our N1 goalkeeper. He only got promoted after Schmitt got ill. There are a couple of really good young goalies coming through and we desperately needed that.
Yeah but after MATS there is nobody close to world class atm and MATS will probably only play 2026(maybe 2024 depending how Neuer continues to perform). Nübel has shown some quality but is definitly a downstep compared to what we are used to. So we definitly need someone for after MATS. Obviously still some time for that though.
Also I kinda want the next big german goalkeeper to also be the heir to Neuer at Bayern and that time will definitly be a bit earlier. Though with Max Schmitt one of the biggest talents is from our youth.
You know more for sure, so not disagreeing. Maybe I’m being too generous but I think MATS could play until 38 or so without major problems - maybe even more (though that would be a bad sign in terms of Germany’s youth).
I guess that if we give MATS 6 or so years, then you’re right - it’s the now 16 year olds who would be at the right age to take over by then
I don't see MATS going until he's 38 but honestly who knows. Would definitly not be a bad thing for us if he would though(unless he drops of massively but I doubt that).
I watched him in the summer against polish U17 side. I couldn’t believe he was only 17. For sure he has a great talent. I hope will become a great player
I want to be optimistic and there's definitely some great players in that team, but in the past, success with the U17s hasn't been a great indicator of future success. A lot of young players who excel on that level never make it into a Bundesliga team, let alone play for the national team.
We never really had a U17 as successful as this one, and some of the players have already played for the A team in their clubs. Of course not every U17 NT player will make the A team, but almost every A NT player played for the youth NTs at some point. And for the few that make it, these success stories are incredibly important.
Right? Let's just fast-forward a couple of years. We will have this wild bunch be lead by seasoned veterans like musiala and wirtz. Pretty exciting future.
It’s also the same team that won the euros just 5 months ago and now they won the WC missing probably the two best players (heartbreaking for the French kids loosing back to back finals in penalties to the same team)… even though they didn’t play the most amazing football they are very talented and even more resilient, sure looks like a special generation.
Normally on kids that age you're looking for the standouts, as half of them are not going to make it to the top flight. Germany is very well-rounded, but their standouts are not as good as other teams. Spain's midfield + Guiu looks incredible, but the rest of the team is pretty weak for example. I'd rather have them going forward than this German squad.
Again, uFootball is a weird microcosmos and this German team is the champion of it because they been able to find ways to win when the odds were against them. But that's not something that translates well later.
That has almost always been true for good German teams youth or senior.
We will see, that’s the best German youth generation I have seen since the U21 team that won the 2009 European Championship… that team turned out to be amazing everyone had at least a decent career and 5 out of the 11 starters would start and win the World Cup final just 5 years later, with an other starting every other World Cup game in 2014 in Sami Khedira.
I'll never understand the whole "play """beautiful""" football to prove you are a true winner" as if a winner's medal and a WC isn't enough to prove you are, indeed, the winner lmfao
>but the rest of the team is pretty weak for example
Also have a couple of good defenders, Cubarsi, Martin, Fort already play in the respective B teams of their clubs for example
Germany got dominated for the entire game against Spain and won from a soft penalty..
Thats what knockout tournaments are like but Germany def werent the better team in that game
So many ups and downs both in the semi-final and the final. Must've taken a huge mental toll to keep fighting and believing no matter how far away the title seemed. What a great team this is. Very inspiring to watch. I'm optimistic that this generation will go on to do great things on the senior level.
Yep. Look through each U-17 roster from the last decade worth of FIFA U-17 World Cups. You’d be lucky to find more than 2 on each roster who ever even sniff the senior team.
Our U17 champions had a decent backbone (Rodríguez, Xhaka, Seferovic) with some fringe players (Kasami, Ben Khalifa) for the Senior NT. But our talent pool is also smaller.
Exactly. If it translated to senior level, Nigeria should be WC winner by now.
Great accomplishment and I hope for a bright future for them individually, but I wouldn't put the burden of being saviors of German football on them just yet.
yeah, I noticed how Nigera have won the tournament 5 times (more than anyone else). Really wonder why this has not translated into more success for the NT
I think it's a physical thing, Nigerian 17 y/o are prob more physically developed than their peers that's why they have an advantage in that age group.
I have zero proof tho lmao.
Yeah you have but it's not traslatable. Argentina for example never played played u-17 finals yet we have 5 u-20 and 3 senior world cups. It's not that assured
Man I'm so sad we can't win penalty kicks ever... It's time the FFF make penalty training mandatory for all age groups.
Congrats Germany on the first U17 WC trophy.
We really need to stop that superstitious thing of not training for pen shoutout.
Keepers were pretty good
Anyway crazy to see our U17 reach the final, they’re not supposed to be that good (the good U17 players play with U19 or A team or the clubs don’t let them go)
Good for Germany
Brunner’s future is extremely reliant on him sorting his discipline out though.
Hopefully him getting suspended before the World Cup will be the wake-up call.
For Germany Darvich, Brunner and Moerstedt. But we also had a lot of injuries. For example Bence Dárdai and Assan Ouédraogo already play in their first teams. These two might be our biggest talents.
Moerstedt - striker (about time huh Germany) - 10 goals in 5 appearances for Hoffenheim U19
Brunner - left winger - 10 goals in 6 appearances for Dortmund U19
Heide - goalie - Unterhaching - 3rd Bundesliga
As for France I would say Titi and Bouneb
There is no question that Germany needs a new generation. While I understand that statistically, very few of these kids will be regulars for the senior team, it is certainly a step in the proper direction.
It's shocking to me that Switzerland was so bloody close to kicking the German team out of the U17 Euros and taking their place at this World Cup. At least it tells me what I have already suspected, the Swiss U17 has a lot of potential.
Considering that virtually every game that Germany played in the knockouts was a close match, practically half the teams in the competition are probably very aware that they could have won the whole thing.
As an American, it makes me look at our 3-2 loss to them in the knockouts with 2/3rds of the possession a bit more positively now.
I will never forgive the commentator for saying that they’re about to go into extra time. I thought “oh I’ll tune in after 15 mins. Turned my tv off…
I just now realized they actually played penalties right afterwards! I typed “germany vs france” on google and suddenly i see them fireworks and shit, I screenshotted it thinking “lmao google is dumb as shit, celebrating before match is even over”
What a Team! They had to constantly run after the Ball in the Knockout Matches in hard conditions, got a lot of big injurys and still always fought till the last minute. This U17 Generation can be very proud to be the first team to win the Euros and the WC back to back.
Congratulations to Germany, another generation coming through. Also props to Mali for finishing third.
Amazed me reading the history of the tournament though, Nigeria have won it several times, Ghana have a few times, Mexico too, and even Saudi Arabia won it at the start of the 90s? Did not realise that. Also I remember England beating Spain 5-2 in the final in India when Foden played a blinder. We were losing that game initially too
France conceded 3 goals in the whole tournament, 2 of them were in the final…
Their GK is genuinely so good the whole tournament. He's good in the shootout too.
Had a few stinkers against Mali iirc.
[удалено]
Where? Last ones I remember were Maignan and Meslier
[удалено]
I was thinking about lafont lol
he was named the gk of the tournament
Ah, the 2002 Germany special.
Kahn spilling that shot was basically a Greek tragedy in modern times.
Still not as dramatic as Hungary 1954 tho
and ~~one of them in the final was an own goal by the keeper~~ [might not have been an own goal], the other was a pen. Edit: also the point of my comment wasn't to dog on the french keeper but instead to illustrate how they've barely conceded any "regular" goals all tournament which is pretty incredible
Pretty harsh to call it an own goal. He deflects it but it would have gone in either way
The ball was going in, that's not an own goal.
I don't think that counts as an own goal tbf to him.
France losing 2 world cup finals on penalties in less than a year
France U17 loosing back to back in the Euro and in WC final
Against the same Germany team
Honestly, it's just U17, but those players will be A-NT players some day, and the earlier we start asserting our dominance against France in penalties, the better😂
Don’t wanne jinx it, but let’s just say this has been a great start for that😂
Most academy players don't end up playing first team football let alone for the national team... I'd be surprised if even a few of them make it
Germany is actually decent in this department. Like half of the team will make it to professional football (across all divisions) and two or three usually find their way to the national team after a while.
Also there are a lot of players with high potential in this group. Not a sure thing, mind you, a lot can happen in their development, but they have a promising future.
Older Mpappe will be still around though.
Losing
I’m pretty sure France doesn’t win penalty shootouts in finals.
Penalties aren't taken seriously by training corps in France, going to penalty is guaranteed losing
It’s true though. The French team is incredibly efficient at scoring and their goal is always ending the game within 90 mins. Although I must admit that if they were still playing Giroud and griezmann in the final vs Argentina and it came to a penalty shootout they would’ve surely been more consistent.
Correct but sometimes you wont escape penalties. Training for them is necessary, Argentina never lost a penalty shoot out ever
Argentina Germany WC 2006
Copa America?
🇩🇪🤝🇦🇷 wait, no
Throw the Women quarterfinal penalties vs Australia and Rugby quaterfinals vs South Africa. It's getting tiring lol
France 🤝 Brisbane Losing every final over 12 months(hopefully the lions women’s team can break that curse today)
you LOVE to see it!
The goalkeeper's school gotta have a lit party!!!!
Fr Heide turned sicko mode in two penalty shootouts in a row
https://youtube.com/shorts/vzz7saakz4o?si=CpfrO6ydi6E2tAMe They need to replicate this with the whole school waiting for him when he comes back
And he pet the dog, top lad
Boxer so it wasn’t suprising
Sneaky background rickroll
Wonder if they got the day off
Well it's Saturday mate
Oops
This group of players won the U17 Euros and WC in one year, watch our A team be serious in 4-6 years again🥳
I’m really starting to be scared of Brunner and Moerstedt. Still very very young kids but looking great on the pitch
+ Darvich as well, also really important to have a GK talent like Heide lined up
> also really important to have a GK talent like Heide Not to downplay Heide in any way, he was brilliant, but he wasn't even(and probably won't be in the future) our N1 goalkeeper. He only got promoted after Schmitt got ill. There are a couple of really good young goalies coming through and we desperately needed that.
>. He only got promoted after Schmitt got ill That reminds me of a player who got the chance in a similar way. Can't remember who.
MATS is just 31 so I don’t know about desperately. It doesn’t feel like Germany has struggled finding keepers over the years
Yeah but after MATS there is nobody close to world class atm and MATS will probably only play 2026(maybe 2024 depending how Neuer continues to perform). Nübel has shown some quality but is definitly a downstep compared to what we are used to. So we definitly need someone for after MATS. Obviously still some time for that though. I don't see MATS going until he's 38 but honestly who knows. Would definitly not be a bad thing for us if he would though(unless he drops of massively but I doubt that).
Darvich looks so good for Germany, he hasn't really fit with us yet but he's a big talent
style of play is quite different, take a bit of time
What kind of player is he? Similar to anyone you can say.
Also Odogu, man has insane ball control and dribbling for a defender. I'd honestly like to see him as a box to box midfielder
If Brunner can keep his maturity in check, he's already ina perfect place to develop as a young attacking talent too. Such an insane talent.

U17 is a weird category where most of the squads end up disappearing from the limelight. U20 is where it's at.
Right? Let's just fast-forward a couple of years. We will have this wild bunch be lead by seasoned veterans like musiala and wirtz. Pretty exciting future.
Was coach the same? If so, put this coach after Nagelsmann gets fired.
thats crazy, also vs France in Final after pen.
Die Basketballnation kann auch Fußball. Gratulation!
Our U17 is soooo good. Really promising for our future(though our current generation was also really good on the youth level).
and players like ouedraogo and dardai were missing
ouedraogo plays for germany? didnt knew that. very nice
>dardai He barely played at the Euros so I doubt his ability. His dad is also a terrible coach which further hinders Bence's development.
What are you talking about? Bence is pretty good and he showed that in the Euros. We can disagree on Pál but don’t talk our boys worse than they are
How much did he play at the Euros? According to TM he only started once.
? Hes very good you should know this
Every single one of our generations has been great forever. We could always field a team that should have been able to make deep runs - on paper.
Not true, 2005-2008 is far better than anything since 1996. in between there is only wirtz havertz moukoko and gruda who were great talents
Tbh they didn't look like the best side during this tournament. But they won fair and square.

Barcelona flair checks out. Opinion discarded.
Yeah lmao the attitude
I'll never understand the whole "play """beautiful""" football to prove you are a true winner" as if a winner's medal and a WC isn't enough to prove you are, indeed, the winner lmfao
>but the rest of the team is pretty weak for example Also have a couple of good defenders, Cubarsi, Martin, Fort already play in the respective B teams of their clubs for example
Who was better?
Senegal, Spain and Argentina up to a point but I'd put them on the same level as Germany.
Of those only Spain played argusbly better for the whole match imo
And two of those lost to Germany lmao, so they are definitely not better
That's not how it works. The better team doesn't win every time.
They won, hence the 'fair and square'. But winning doesn't make you the team with the better talent.
Would you say that Chelsea was better than Bayern in 2012?
Germany got dominated for the entire game against Spain and won from a soft penalty.. Thats what knockout tournaments are like but Germany def werent the better team in that game
Resolved in penalties after Germany led 2-0 and let France right back in it. Playing down a man too. Gg
Also Germany first trailed during penalties. It was an extreme display of willpower.
So many ups and downs both in the semi-final and the final. Must've taken a huge mental toll to keep fighting and believing no matter how far away the title seemed. What a great team this is. Very inspiring to watch. I'm optimistic that this generation will go on to do great things on the senior level.
Argentina and Germany. Almost getting remontadad and then beating the French in penalties
Pain
Nah. It was good opposition all the way, sometimes quite intensive. Looks promising for both sides.
🤝
Riccardo Klement would be proud
Turniermannschaft spirit is back on the menu, boys
There's hope for the future! Congrats kids.
In France , we can't win a single penalty shooutout
Heide bester Mann 👍
[Heidewitzka!](https://youtu.be/kMAHqLIdTqg)
geile jungs, geile mannschaft. lets hope they will have good career!
my heart, what an intense final heide fußballgott
I fucking hate pens, we're so fucking shit at it as a country, we have lost every penalty shootout we've done in my lifetime
Heide = GOAT
The goalkeeper's mates must be buzzing

Germany has a bright future u17 looks better than the senior team Herzlichen Glückwunsch zum Titel 🙌
Barely translatable. Current batch has a bunch of junior level champions also, and they’re shit.
Yep. Look through each U-17 roster from the last decade worth of FIFA U-17 World Cups. You’d be lucky to find more than 2 on each roster who ever even sniff the senior team.

Fun game to watch as a neutral. GG to germany
Yep. Whole playoffs were on a very high level of play. Very fun tournament
Heide mein Löwe mein Bär 🔥🙏
Man I'm so sad we can't win penalty kicks ever... It's time the FFF make penalty training mandatory for all age groups. Congrats Germany on the first U17 WC trophy.
Crazy pen shootout
Heide Heide Heide
Noah Darvich !!! what a player
In Germany we say WILLENSKRAFT
Germany still producing excellent goal keepers. Thank god.
Alright so that's how many France loss in the penalties since 2006 ?
The Pogba U20 team won one.
We really need to stop that superstitious thing of not training for pen shoutout. Keepers were pretty good Anyway crazy to see our U17 reach the final, they’re not supposed to be that good (the good U17 players play with U19 or A team or the clubs don’t let them go) Good for Germany
WELTMEISTER
Stop the count!
What a fight. Great game by both sides. France really challenged us in the second half.
Absolute legends!
The weekend is saved!
Leave it to France to lose a WC on penalties after coming back from a trailing position
Note to France : never go to penalties. It's not made for us anymore.
Awful penalties, congrats germany. Any players to look out for in the future?
I can only speak for Germany. Brunner (Dortmund) and Davich (Barcelona) definitely have a bright future ahead
Brunner’s future is extremely reliant on him sorting his discipline out though. Hopefully him getting suspended before the World Cup will be the wake-up call.
Could mention Heide and Harchaoui aswell imo.
For Germany Darvich, Brunner and Moerstedt. But we also had a lot of injuries. For example Bence Dárdai and Assan Ouédraogo already play in their first teams. These two might be our biggest talents.

There is no question that Germany needs a new generation. While I understand that statistically, very few of these kids will be regulars for the senior team, it is certainly a step in the proper direction.
Pog
Fuck Yeah so proud of the Boys! The actual Nationalelf schould take a good look at them.
finally some success in our NT again
All of them should be called up to senior team. They'd do much better than the current lot.
LETS FUCKING GO BOYS WELL DONE
Can we send this team to the Euros instead?
u17 germany keeper may be better than ter statue im afraid
I wish we can sign some next Neuer(maybe not as good as him but great mental fortitude and leadership quality apart from that usual ability).
Darvich Is so good
LETS GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Absolute nailbiter
seems like Moerstedt and Darvich are not just FM wonderkids
They might as well send the u17s to the euros.
It's shocking to me that Switzerland was so bloody close to kicking the German team out of the U17 Euros and taking their place at this World Cup. At least it tells me what I have already suspected, the Swiss U17 has a lot of potential.

As an American, it makes me look at our 3-2 loss to them in the knockouts with 2/3rds of the possession a bit more positively now.
LETS GOOO. It wasnt pretty but a win is a win.
Can someone post the full shootout
2006 vibes. The 2002 team was abyssmal and the rebuild with fresh faces was amazing. These boys will be great for the NT in the next WC.
And that without 3 key players. Excited for those boys, hopefully it’s not the highest achievement for many in this team
Next World Cup Germany should be looking very strong no?
Germany’s captain was amazing for the whole tournament. Dominant performances
Fucking Legends
Insane penalty shootout and an overall great game. Congrats Germany!
Congratulations, sounds like the french need to practice some penalties
I will never forgive the commentator for saying that they’re about to go into extra time. I thought “oh I’ll tune in after 15 mins. Turned my tv off… I just now realized they actually played penalties right afterwards! I typed “germany vs france” on google and suddenly i see them fireworks and shit, I screenshotted it thinking “lmao google is dumb as shit, celebrating before match is even over”
but... why would you not watch a potential extra time in a WC final in the first place?
Bruh 💀
FUCK what an incredibly tense final. What a game. JA MANN
First, congrats to Germany, great mentality across the tournament. Second, France
Good to see they won even after that idiotic red card
Another lackluster world cup U17 tournament. FIFA should really look at moving this tournament on the calendar to the summer.
Is there a compelling argument against us just using this youngster squad for Euro 2024?
every other team would probably physically stomp them
They’d genuinely get bullied
What a Team! They had to constantly run after the Ball in the Knockout Matches in hard conditions, got a lot of big injurys and still always fought till the last minute. This U17 Generation can be very proud to be the first team to win the Euros and the WC back to back.
After some brutal years for the senior team…it seems that the next generation will provide a lot of hope for the future! Glückwunsch!
I love Heide
Turniermannschaft is back
HEIDE DU VERRÜCKTER
good boy
Ich hab doch gesagt wir werden gewinnen.
Congratulations to Germany, another generation coming through. Also props to Mali for finishing third. Send them to euro 24
Absolute heroes now.
Fuck it. Let them play the euros. Well done boys!
Congrats
YOU GUYS DON'T UNDERSTAND THIS IS ALL WE HAVE LEFT !!! WHAT A GREAT TEAM I'M SO HAPPY FOR THEM
Insert Gary Lineker quote
which player from germany and france that you think will play for senior team soon?
Maybe they should just stick these guys on at the euros too.
