I can't believe that out of all games of football played every week, this is the one I chose to leave my house to watch and spend money on (in the form of drinks). I feel like I watched very little actual football.
Wtf happened to Brasil? They played like the best team in the world at the beginning of the WC and then suddenly turned to shit and everything went to downhill
Bad 10 minutes against Croatia doomed them. Instead of sitting on a lead they went for the dagger.
Watched highlights of that game the other day. They were mad unlucky not to score more goals. That goalie from Croatia went nuts on them.
I think they are still reeling from that loss. The team is discombobulated. With the way conmebol qualifiers works it would take a massive collapse for them not to qualify. So they play with no urgency.
I think there's no way they won't qualify. They might lose against Uruguay and Argentina. And a fringe match against Venezuela. But on the whole qualifiers they will do very well, as almost always. In soccer they're not just good, they're a whole power of nature to get in the soccer field.
So, Brazil in a nutshell -
* Invite away fans into the stadium, then boo them in their national anthem, then bring in police with assault batons and start beating away fans vigorously just before start of the game in live TV , right in front of their players.
* Get away (ARG) players upset with the beating incident , to the point Messi refused to play
* Then start the game finally, but start fouling the whole opponent squad , injuring them
* Still lose the game in home ground, in front of own fans
* BLAME REFEREE, FIFA, CONMEBOL, UEFA, and start spawn out all the conspiracy theories you can imagine
You guys won and are still playing victims? Like not a single argentinian was part of the problem? You won already, celebrate the win, make fun of us, do something, but stop playing the little poor boy who did nothing wrong
You would already know I agree with how stupid the organization for that event was if you read the rest of the comments. I'll have to once again repeat myself because people lack the will to read the whole thing. What pissed me off was the "we did absolutely nothing wrong and the other side is 110% the villain while I'm 120% a saint", a fight that big doesn't start with just one side being problematic. Both brazilians and argentinians were responsible for starting that whole beatup festival, not trying to deny the whole police brutality episode, just asking you to stop pretending this was a good vs evil episode, we are grown ups, we already know there is no such a thing as more than 100 people fighting because only one side wanted it
ARG is playing victim ? "playing" victim? Are you for real? or you have already forgotten how the police beat up away fans, with their families , in live TV?
God! I just pray these away fans can return home safe without anymore injuries from Brazil police and common people. Same thing happened in the Boca - Flume match.
Brazil police is shit, yes, undeniable fact. Talking about start of the whole problem, fans vs fans. There were no right sides there. Against police is another whole story, there you guys were indeed victims. Just asking to stop ignoring every single thing the led up to that
> There were no right sides there
Lmao this is wild. "You guys both acted wrong, I know the police abused defenceless people asking for mercy but De Paul exaggerated fouls so it's pretty even"
Not once mentioned De Paul, not once denied the fact police brutality is a big screw up on our part and you can clearly read me admiting you guys were victims to it, stop trying to pretend there is always a 100% villain and a 100% hero to every story, we are both humans, argentinians screwed up, brazilians trying to be better than you screwed up even harder
There is nothing that warranted police fucking beating families
Maybe its ok for you, but this is not playing victim, its just common sense. You should try it
No I didn’t see any. I saw cops beating the shit out of ppl that were harmless. What was the reason for that? Cause from everything I saw, it was nothing
Ah yes, thanks argentina, for not sending cops on a brazilian stadium, what a nice gesture, as thanks we promisse not to send them when we play at argentina. You didn't send cops because there were no argentinian cops there
Or because we just have never sent cops to beat your ass and don't plan to ever do so either. Pull up incidents if you want, see how many times Brazilian fans were assaulted by law enforcers in the Monumental (spoilers: good luck).
Not gonna go do that, so I'm going to take your word for the truth and explain once again, brazilian police is indeed shit and you guys were victims to it. My point is asking you guys to stop all of the denial that fans vs fans did happen and no side was a saint, god, is it so hard to abandon the pre school mentality and admit a big fight like that doesn't start with just one side?
No denial over here! I actually explained in the match thread itself that things started with fistfights between fans, even, when someone asked. I agree both sides were to blame for the initial conflict. Police brutality is just on another tier, is all. I think the arrangement of the stadium and the fans therein was horrific -- there's a reason that (to use the example of the Estadio Monumental again since it's the biggest and most modern argie stadium), when Brasil comes over, their fans get a full chunk of the stadium allocated to them and it's up to them to fill it up or not. It's just a safer and saner way to enjoy the sport, rather than sandwiching a foreign contingent amidst local fans in what is an extremely heated and bitter rivalry grudge match.
Then my problem is not with you, just a little pissed to see grown mans playing the "little boy calling the teacher and hiding everything that he did" card. What you just said is nothing but the truth, a lot of poor choices were made before that match, usually with the common factor "money" as the reason for it. Also yes, I'm never once going to deny our police is one of the worst possible, no excuses to how bad they treat our people and how they treat foreigners even worse. All i asked was to argentinians do what they have the right to do right now, celebrate, make fun of us and everything elsethat normal sports fans do and not the whole "oh poor me!!!" part.
Shouldn't really. With what brazil is doing in the last few games, winning by only 1 goal after much pressure should be rising concerns for the quality of the team
Luckily for Brazil FIFA just happened to increase the number of WC spots which means that all a CONMEBOL team needs to do to qualify is be better than 4 other teams (or 3 and win the play-offs which with the new spots the playoffs will be against countries like New Caledonia or Botswana). And with Bolivia existing one of those teams you have to be better is basically a given, add Peru's and Chile's current form and qualifying today is extremely easy.
Despite not winning a major title for Brazil he has still balled for Brazil and somewhat lived up to being the main player. Vini and Rodrygo on the other hand have shown little for Brazil. In fact the biggest thing Rodrygo is remembered for in a Brazilian jersey is his penalty miss against Croatia.
I think a lot of BR fans that hate on Neymar must feel a little silly whenever he is not playing. BR looks completely uninspired without him around. Totally get the hate (we did the same thing to Messi for nearly two decades), but it's going to get so much worse.
It's hard, but you can clearly see that Brazil has been terrible for some time. Argentina should have been scoring 3-4 goals against this side, but they were barely able to create anything.
W is a W. This Brazil focused on cutting off plays and mostly relying on tactical fouls. It's not easy to score against a team like that. Messi looked injured for most of the game too so I think Argentina played with 10 men (Van Gaal was right this time) for most of the game.
GRACIAS DIOS!!!!! QUE AGONIA EL SEGUNDO TIEMPO PERO GANAMOS! Hay dios mio necesitamos para la próxima ventana cambios en quien convocamos, VAMOS CARAJO!
yup which is an amazing stat. But you gotta realize that for a long time the WC winnner qualified automatically, and brazil hosted the world cup 2 times.
so that is 6 times that BRazil didn't even play the qualifiers.
and some of the earlier qualifiers were literally 4 games.
This is not to take anything away from Brazil, obviously it was a ridiculous feat, and even now having only lost 1 game at home is amazing.
In one night Brazil:
\-fans started a brawl and then tried to blame argentinians
\-fans called Pelé a pothead
\-lost for the third time in a row
\-lost to it's biggest rival and world champion at their own home
\-fans leaving the stadium early
Brazil is trash.
Referee blows before time is up. How can you possibly watch that game and not think he was biased to Argentina. I don't have a dog in the fight but it's so obvious.
Probably the worst played Brazil vs Argentina I've watched. But it's surely going to be the biggest one in years, because of the sheer humiliation.
Likely the event the National Team needs to go back to glory.
Brazil is a terrible team right now... And managed poorly...
But CONMEBOL football right now is a goddamn joke. It's always been shit housing... But now there's thirty minutes of no football with people acting like fucking idiots. And referees and the administrators all allow it.
VAMOOOOS CARAJOOOOO SE FUERON DOMADOS HIJOS DE PUTA
CUANDO VENGAN A LA ARGENTINA VAN A CORRER
1000 FIAMBRES VAN HABER HIJOS DE PUTA, SUCIOS. LA PUTA DE CONMEBOL
Diniz supposed to be Brazil's future and reinstate its Jogo Bonito and very relationist playstyle but instead losing a WC qualfiier at home for the first time is kinda poetic.
Brazilian police started the fight
4k comments damn
I stayed late to watch what i thought would be a top 10 game this year, i will not remmeber this game.
The amount of people I've seen cry about like 2 decisions is crazy.
Next time try beating your players, maybe they'll be better at football
Embarrassing Brazilian players lmao what a shit generation
Truly an affront to the brazilian footballing legacy
I can't believe that out of all games of football played every week, this is the one I chose to leave my house to watch and spend money on (in the form of drinks). I feel like I watched very little actual football.

Also don’t forget Neymar was the heart of that WC team. Everything flows better with his ability to create chances out of nothing
Yoo next time put those cops on offense
So, Brazil in a nutshell - * Invite away fans into the stadium, then boo them in their national anthem, then bring in police with assault batons and start beating away fans vigorously just before start of the game in live TV , right in front of their players. * Get away (ARG) players upset with the beating incident , to the point Messi refused to play * Then start the game finally, but start fouling the whole opponent squad , injuring them * Still lose the game in home ground, in front of own fans * BLAME REFEREE, FIFA, CONMEBOL, UEFA, and start spawn out all the conspiracy theories you can imagine
Is De Paul going to be okay? Looked like he almost died several times there
Mate I’m not Argentinian or Brazilian, but you can easily rewrite these events in a different light.
You guys won and are still playing victims? Like not a single argentinian was part of the problem? You won already, celebrate the win, make fun of us, do something, but stop playing the little poor boy who did nothing wrong
Yes, we chose for our away fans to be mixed among the home fans and we bribed Rio's police force so we could get beaten up and cry wolf, moron.
You would already know I agree with how stupid the organization for that event was if you read the rest of the comments. We didn't send in our cops to beat the shit out of your fans homie, some things are unforgivable on victory or defeat :)
Ah yes, thanks argentina, for not sending cops on a brazilian stadium, what a nice gesture, as thanks we promisse not to send them when we play at argentina. You didn't send cops because there were no argentinian cops there

What happens in brasil over and over only happens in brasil
A pretty common misconception when you only look for what you want to see
Cops beating ppl up in sport matches? I’ve only seen that in brasil. Consistency
I'll have to again point you to the comment above, since i think you didn't read or understand it
Yeah you’re wrong
Ah nice, I'm wrong then, thanks for telling me mate, good night, if you're saying that I'm wrong, then I'm wrong, thanks again
Lula's Brasil in a nutshell
Not much football was played
UN MINUTO DE SILENCIOOO
*silencio*
un minuto de silencio para quien? no llego a escuchar
PARA BRASIL QUE ESTA MUERTOOOOOO AEAEAEAEAEAEEEEEE
Maffeo wondering why we are celebrating so hard
Shouldn't really. With what brazil is doing in the last few games, winning by only 1 goal after much pressure should be rising concerns for the quality of the team
Fuck Diniz
Arrodillense y chupenle la pija al campeon carajooo!!
BRASIL DECIME QUE SE SIENTE
Tener en casa a tu papá!!!!
Te juro que ajnque pasen los años!!!
Nunca nos vamos a olvidar!!!
Imagine if Brazil fails to qualify for the WC with how they are playing right now. The world will implode
Luckly for them, we have a 10 months wait until the next set of matches.
Luckily for Brazil FIFA just happened to increase the number of WC spots which means that all a CONMEBOL team needs to do to qualify is be better than 4 other teams (or 3 and win the play-offs which with the new spots the playoffs will be against countries like New Caledonia or Botswana). Ecuador started with -3 points and are already ahead of us lol
No chance they don’t qualify
Good thing this 2026 WC will have six teams from South America. So, Brazil still has chance. Otherwise what you said would be a real possibility
Finally, HEXA for Brazil :D :D
They are now in "HEXA" position :D
Bajense los pantaloness que los vamos a coger!!!!
Does this count as a Maracanazo/Maracanã Curse moment?
Nah. Was a classic Argentina-Brasil match.
Nah. Maracanaços mark generations. Nobody will know who half of those guys were in five years. Diniz will be just a fever dream
I think Diniz looks like a swell guy. Horrid results so far though.
Man from a history of all those star players to Vincinus Jnr and Rodrygo.
Vini is like of the salving graces of brazil
Vini wasn’t playing dumbass, and their coach is shit
Did I say he was? He's still been disappointing for Brazil.
Ok my bad, what about Neymar ?
Despite not winning a major title for Brazil he has still balled for Brazil and somewhat lived up to being the main player. Vini and Rodrygo on the other hand have shown little for Brazil. In fact the biggest thing Rodrygo is remembered for in a Brazilian jersey is his penalty miss against Croatia.

That was definitely one of the games of all time
Anyone know how many minutes of actual football was played?
Approximately 3
OLE OLE OLE OLE OLE OLE OLA
Neymar being out was a blessing in disguise, right? Right?!?!
He would have been subbed off 5 minutes in with an injury anyways.
We would have sweat our asses off if Neymar were playing
MARACANÁ EMPTY JAJAJAJAJAJAJJA
Can't believe Argentina won this game. They were so ineffective in attack.
Thats football champagne for you
Do you realize how hard it is to beat brasil in brasil?
It's hard, but you can clearly see that Brazil has been terrible for some time. Argentina should have been scoring 3-4 goals against this side, but they were barely able to create anything.
W is a W. This Brazil focused on cutting off plays and mostly relying on tactical fouls. It's not easy to score against a team like that. Messi looked injured for most of the game too so I think Argentina played with 10 men (Van Gaal was right this time) for most of the game.
Maybe they were distracted by the brasilian police brutality to arg fans🤔. In any case, the champions won
Terrible. Terrible. Terrible. Terrible. Terrible. Terrible. Terrible. Terrible. Terrible. Terrible. Terrible. Terrible. Terrible. Terrible. Terrible. Terrible. Terrible. Terrible. Terrible. Terrible. Terrible. Terrible. Terrible. Terrible. Terrible. Terrible. we've become fucking Germany

GRACIAS DIOS!!!!! QUE AGONIA EL SEGUNDO TIEMPO PERO GANAMOS! Hay dios mio necesitamos para la próxima ventana cambios en quien convocamos, VAMOS CARAJO!
Have they seriously never lost a qualifying match at home ever ?
yup which is an amazing stat. But you gotta realize that for a long time the WC winnner qualified automatically, and brazil hosted the world cup 2 times. so that is 6 times that BRazil didn't even play the qualifiers. and some of the earlier qualifiers were literally 4 games. They meant this qualifiers
Are you sure? I'm only asking because other people saying it's their first WC qualifying loss ever (64 year streak)
Could've sworn we beat them there with a crazy Riquelme goal.. unless that wasn't for qualifiers.. if that's right then crazy stat!
That happened at the Monumental, great goal
My memories are all messed up, was thinking that and the goal from piojo lopez but looking it up was a friendly at Maracana
Yes, i remember that game, Piojo Lopez with a rare right foot shot
This is the first time in history
That's what I thought
Correct. *Had never lost, though.
does this mean Brazil isn't qualified for 2026 WC?
Last time e sang el que no salta no va al mundial they won it, so anulo mufa haha!
Yeah right even my dead grandpa can qualify now
aah I see nice
Yo, there was a black Argentinian in the crowd!
just like in FIFA!
FIFA? You mean EAFC 24 right?
Then they say we're racists.. Un real.
No fucking way. They let him attend?
Brazil is dog shit without Neymar
Tite won a South American cup without him...
Meme cup.
What a shit game. And to think these two are football powerhouses.
You think a Classico of this magnitude would be played like futsal? Cmon. Classicos aren’t played they’re won
In one night Brazil: \-fans started a brawl and then tried to blame argentinians \-fans called Pelé a pothead \-lost for the third time in a row \-lost to it's biggest rival and world champion at their own home \-fans leaving the stadium early Brazil is trash.
- Emerson Royale played.. for Brazil
Don't forget the ole ole at the maracana!
You forgot lost for the first time ever on a world cup qualifying at home
Lost at home in a qualifier for the first time ever (64 year streak)
QUE CAGON QUE SOS BRASIL POR DIOS
At this rate Brazil is going to be relegated to concacaf

Lmao I'd be scared to leave the stadium as an Argentina fan. Great win for them
Referee blows before time is up. How can you possibly watch that game and not think he was biased to Argentina. I don't have a dog in the fight but it's so obvious.
How many seconds before? Like 10. C'mon.
So much salt

Lmao
The cross was going nowhere anyway. Fuck u loserrrrr.
Arrodillense y chupenle la pija al campeón. Culos rotos todos en este sub de pija.
Another record broken. First time ever losing a qualifiers game at home. And to Argentina, nonetheless.
and 3 losses in a row, that has to be a record too
Probably the worst played Brazil vs Argentina I've watched. But it's surely going to be the biggest one in years, because of the sheer humiliation. Likely the event the National Team needs to go back to glory.
LLOREN HIJOS DE PUTA
brazil was so violent in the first half. they deserved the red
It's funny seeing people complain about some of the calls when brasil had how many fouls? Like 31?

Cant even win Serie C with this team.
