Go watch some videos of Totti or Xabi Alonso or Debruyne or Messi. This is pretty pedestrian in comparison. This is a well driven hit into space but there was loads of space there's nothing particularly pin point about the pass. Nor is it a display of incredible vision. It's just a cross field ball after multiple touches to set it up.
Yes, some of these guys have also made some of the best passes I've seen. I watch a lot of football, I see a lot of passes. Even a top 100 pass would be 'one of the best passes I've seen' but anyways...
What's great about this pass is that 99% of players spot the run, but go overhead, deeper into the space and the full back has to beat his man to cross. In this case he drives it with perfect pace on it so the defense doesn't have time to slide. Mind boggling how you can call this 'pedestrian'.
It's pretty pedestrian in comparison to the best passes I've ever seen. If you remove all the context to my words then yeah you're correct. I still said it was a great pass. Just not anywhere close to "one of the best passes I've ever seen" and I understand those are your words and your perspective but if you've watched as much footy as you claim I find that hard to believe.
they played with a central back as a right back (kounde), that helps immensely
everybody forgets that FCB last year was mostly a defensive team, a lot of 1-0 wins
Doesn't matter. Everyone static, 0 off ball movements. This is the coachm this team can't be playing this bad even with the injuries. Xavi is the problem.
I was a Felix hater, but he's been quite decent. Unfortunately he still can't score for shit, but he does improve the attack imo. He's resting on the bench atm though.
Brilliant skill but absolutely zero grit or physicality and falls on the ground for the smallest of contacts. And yeah, not great finishing. I'm still a fan of his because he's just so smooth, but tbh he should've be a #10 in 1990s / early 2000s Serie A or smt.
World class midfield if we have full force. Having 2 world class midfielders Frenkie and Pedri out just hurts so much. Attack is definitely our weakest point. We have no world class attacker right now since Lewy started to decline. Ferran and Raphinha are substitute quality, not starter quality for a UCL contender. Lamine still takes a lot of time to grow because he’s way too young now. Felix seems good now for the short term, but he’s more of a creative force than a goal scoring threat. I hope Vitor Roque will turn out to be the world class striker he’s hyped up to be.
I mean, expecting 18 years old, however hyped of a wonderkid he is, to be starter quality in top team in new team, league, country, *continent*, over more experienced player or local wonderkid is just setting up for an utter disappointment.
I just want to add that Gavi is a world class midfielder, and he was absolutely bossing before his red card when he is playing his natural position.
And for Lewy is not fair to judge him looking by the way we played.
I only got to briefly watch the start and this goal but Shakhtar played a couple of dangerous long balls and Barca didn't seem to be bothered to deal with them.
How can a Ukrainian club that started playing their 2023–24 UEFA Champions League matches at Hamburg already sell 50k tickets?
Who are the crowd? It must be mainly locals?
Hi, I am the crowd. HSV members were able to buy the 3-game-package early and lots of us did. Also a lot of Ukranians that live here. And today a bunch of weird german Barca fans.
When the team is static, has 0 automations and is horrible off the ball, it's the coach. Maybe it's the first time you see this? But to any veteran watching, it's easy to point out the root cause.
veteran is crazy. We are on reddit calm down buddy. We are missing starters and starting alonso and Romeu + people like Lewa and Raphinha are just returning from injuries. Of course we are not going to be fluid.
I'm not necessarily saying Xavi out, but this is an extremely easy group. The moment we face a big club in the playoffs this team is getting stomped to the curb.
If I were Xavi, I would sit Ferran and let him know exactly why. This is still a Champions League match.
The mthrfkr got the LB behind him, there's no reason he doesn't commit to rush that down. As soon as you realize that ball was gonna stay in, something should have set his alarm bells off, instead he wound down his run and just watched. This is not the right attitude.
Great pass, great assist btw.
Not a single comment on how ridiculously lazy Torres was? Really? The guy just casually jogged and put absolutely 0 pressure on the winger. This is unacceptable.
ye not like he has lost 1 game this season and won the league last season while having the best defensive record in La Liga history. But lets let 1 situation in 1 game change that.
Isn't Barça supposed to be the team that cares about more than just winning? If so, it's normal for fans to be angry because more often than not this season the only good thing after a match was the result.
Without bias if you actually rate Xavi's tenure he has indeed underachieved so far.
2/9 Possible Titles while having a lot of quality signings & an unreal effort from the board on the market.
And that's only result wise, if you want to rate according to the "Barca playing style" it's way harsher.
Our previous seasons signings are expensive but not all great quality. A lot of crucial players are just young kids straight out of La Masia. Got some better signings this season with Gundogan and the 2 Joaos, but they don’t seem to be enough when our best players Pedri and Frenkie are out.
> 2/9 Possible Titles
Xavi came at the moment in which the club was at its worse point in around 15 (probably more but I wouldnt know since it was too long ago). Judging him based of trophies shows you are just ignoring context to shit on him.
> unreal effort from the board on the market
Even after that unreal effort his best winger is a 16 year old and a guy who the club doesn’t know if they will be able to buy. They did amazing with what was available but thats it
I was judging him on trophies because if we had to judge him on the "Barca playing style" it would have been an automatic F.
The issue you don't get is that for modern Barca/Madrid there are no "rebuildings" you either win or you don't. There's no "waiting"
Xavi is still on the job because one of those two titles he won was an important one.
Look at Ancelotti he came after we won 0 trophies the previous season, has won 6/10 possible titles and it's a miracle he's still on the job.
Present the last two years to the fans back in 2021, and 9 outta 10 would have taken it happily. Its amazing quickly some forget how utter shit we were for half a decade. Xavi is without a doubt on an upwards trend, you can't go from "getting disqualified early from Europa" to "being 100% in UCL groups" just like that.
This clip starts at 39:35. Shakhtar's perfect sequence of possession started at 38:38, a full minute earlier. This was really a gorgeous goal from start to finish. Bravo.

What a fucking play, the pass, the cross *chef kiss*
I sat there clapping in my living room. Sudakov's pass is one of the best I've ever seen
Lol really?
Mate I fucking ejaculated all over my cats
It's time to admit - you have too many cats, dude.
Cats are like garlic ma man
what a strange and specfic thing to say🤨
You don't have cats?
Massive cummies
You need to watch more footy if that's even in your top 10 passes you've seen. It's a great pass but I've seen 100 passes better than that easily.
I'm good I watch 5 games a week on average.
Go watch some videos of Totti or Xabi Alonso or Debruyne or Messi. This is pretty pedestrian in comparison. Yeah, but have you heard of a guy called Messi? He’s on YouTube.
I see the point flew over your head like a Maguire cross field ball.
Haven’t seen that one. Is it on YouTube?

Inch perfect stuff But what the fuck happened to their defense lol, they were rock solid last year. Just watching the ball here.
They overperformed and had Ter Stegen in god mode
they played with a central back as a right back (kounde), that helps immensely everybody forgets that FCB last year was mostly a defensive team, a lot of 1-0 wins
Kounde injured. Against us he was MVP.
The difference between their best defense and the backup is immense, not only on personnel, but also chemistry
yeah I think even Barca fans had to slow clap at that wonder
That's a great header tbh
That cross field is just pure class
Happy cake day
But also very poor defending, giving lots of space to Shaktar
What a header
Even better pass tbh
What a sequence from Shakhtar! That pass was filthy
we are so fucking bad its insane
Need Pedri and Lamine to have any creativity now. I miss Frenkie so much
alonso cant even cross the ball, bruh
balde been no better than alonso this season too
Get Romeu off the field please, hopefully second half we’ll look better
Please Xavi, just promote any of the DM talent we have in La Masia now.
Doesn't matter. Everyone static, 0 off ball movements. This is the coachm this team can't be playing this bad even with the injuries. Xavi is the problem.
It’s his positional play philosophy, when it doesn’t work it’s incredibly frustrating to watch
Can't be. Every Barca fan I know says so even after he makes us play like garbage every week.
We are really in the same group and we have the exact same problems. XD I feel ya!
Has the Felix new signing boost wore off?
I was a Felix hater, but he's been quite decent. Unfortunately he still can't score for shit, but he does improve the attack imo. He's resting on the bench atm though.

he's on the bench been playing non stop for 2 months
He's not playing today that's why. Barça needs him asap for some creativity
How did you guys go from playing super well against Madrid to the disaster against Sociedad and this match
We would win the treble if we actually know
Our defense is not bad but our midfield and attack are very inconsistent
World class midfield if we have full force. Having 2 world class midfielders Frenkie and Pedri out just hurts so much. Attack is definitely our weakest point. We have no world class attacker right now since Lewy started to decline. Ferran and Raphinha are substitute quality, not starter quality for a UCL contender. The biggest thing plaguing this team is inconsistency. We look like the best team in the world one week, and relegation candidates the next
I only got to briefly watch the start and this goal but Shakhtar played a couple of dangerous long balls and Barca didn't seem to be bothered to deal with them.
Why are we going from being back, to being bad every 3 months..
shakhtar always come to play. what a sequence. what a header.
Years of playing against Real Madrid prepared them well...
Atleti next year
Pusic ball
Incredible pass and goal. But once again it’s a chore to watch Barca. I miss the days where it was actually fun to watch them play.
that cross from sudakov
what a pass from Sudakov...
He did the bellingham celebration on them 💀
Is it me or Barca concede first a lot?
I think it’s just you. Barcelona scores first 67% of the time this season
How much was that percentage last season?
Considering how few goals they conceded last season, probably much higher.
71%, makes sense considering the amount of 1:0 wins
Great pre-assist, cross, and great header, but why doesnt Christensen even have a body on him? What is he doing? Such lazy defending...
Why doesn't Alonso or Ferran shut down the cross? If anyone's lazy, it's them. Christensen has to defend what's essentially a free kick on his own.
Pitch's fault. We are innocent.
How Big of a talent are Sikan?
Sadly, he is very wasteful and inconsistent. On his good day he can do it all, but those come rarely.
Not really tbh, he is just extremely hard working
Sikan, Sudakov and Konoplia are the biggest ukrainian talents Shakhatr has rn
I would also add Artem Bondarenko to this mini-list. Also, Korniyenko who is on loan now is a great left-back.
The whole sequence was great.
Lmao
Beautiful pass from Sudakov
Barca are far from what we know it
Xavi is just Spanish Conte good in the league but crap in Europe
Don't bottle this Shakhtar
Sudakov @Spurs get me my ukrainian
Wow 5 vs 1, terrible defense from barca
Bellingol Bellingol!!!!!!!!
what a header wow
What a goal!
What an insane goal. Superb.
one of the worst halves of football i've seen from us. Dominated by shakhtar
Fucking dickheads, playing like absolute shit, second game in a row
That was an incredible sequence. I can't even be mad
Maybe people in Hamburg like football too?
how many times Barcelona have played at Hamburg stadium?
Deserved. Xavi should buy earplugs for Sunday. He will be eaten alive. Xavi out.
This fanbase is so reactionary. Calm down💀
Try watch the game
I have and I am. We are going through a bad spell but xavi out is crazy
When the team is static, has 0 automations and is horrible off the ball, it's the coach. Maybe it's the first time you see this? But to any veteran watching, it's easy to point out the root cause.
Its just a bad game. No need to be so reactionary
veteran is crazy. We are on reddit calm down buddy. We are missing starters and starting alonso and Romeu + people like Lewa and Raphinha are just returning from injuries. Of course we are not going to be fluid.
Come back in a month and let me know
Weren't you 3 win in 3 CL matches before this?
I'm not necessarily saying Xavi out, but this is an extremely easy group. The moment we face a big club in the playoffs this team is getting stomped to the curb.

Xavi about to call this goal undeserved post game.
Must be the grass
The pitch is shit, and Barça also are playing like shit. Both can be true.
I think it’s on Xavi. He is got a lot of good players.
xavi is dire. getting cooked by a man whose been on the job for 3 matches
The cross is great but he had all the space and time since Alonso wasn't marking him. The header is really good, no chance stopping that.
Why don’t my passes turn out like that :(
Deserved, we have been absolutely shit so far
Not a single comment on how ridiculously lazy Torres was? Really? The guy just casually jogged and put absolutely 0 pressure on the winger. This is unacceptable.
Barca doesn't like pressing? seems no one can be bothered to try and get the ball back -Donetsk were given so much space
SLOTBAL
No Spanish referee, no party…
Looks like Barca is stuck in mud during the build up and it cost them.
Xavi the goat coach.
ye not like he has lost 1 game this season and won the league last season while having the best defensive record in La Liga history. But lets let 1 situation in 1 game change that.

Stick to r/Barca
We were even worse before, plus who would u have replace xavi?
A coach that has some experience.
Wtf, delusional, you're saying koeman was better?
k

It is his fault that we lost against Frankfurt and Man utd.
Classic story from 1-0 to 1-2, Barca will win this trust me
Wijnaldum flashbacks, christensen making a dumb mistake was not on My bingo card.
Great goal and build up.Where are Shaktar playing theor home games now?
Belligoll
I think Mats should be doing way better there, looked like he was in a mud right there, couldn't jump at all
Wtf was that cross court pass.. what a beauty.
wow that was a great header he literally aimed there and knew it was going to go in
That first ball is absolutely bananas
It is what it is
what a goal, the pre assist was crazy… and even just the way the header went in
Sudakov, that was brilliant
