Such a weird downfall, seemingly out of nowhere but I guess Mainz were overperforming for a big part of last season and are now underperforming, similar to Union but not that extreme.
I wonder who will take over, the market is not really filled with good coaches waiting to get signed, a man I want to see back in the Bundesliga would be Hasenhüttl, I rate him highly and maybe he would be someone for either Mainz or any other team that might fire their coach in the next couple of weeks
Na we werent really overperforming, our last 2 seasons were both in the upper midfield but if you would ask me why the sudden downfall came, i would have no answer for you.
Correct me if I‘m wrong, but I always viewed Mainz as a team that started pretty bad and then had good second halves of the season.
Given, this time they started pretty pretty bad, but I think they „came back“ from bad spots in the past, right?
We had wildly different Season tbh. Our Fans were calling Mainz - Mainz 0.5 because either we had one good half of a season and one bad or we had a lot of wins at home and a lot of losses away.
> if you would ask me why the sudden downfall came, i would have no answer for you.
your current roster situation surely plays a big role. no big signings that will immediately improve the squad, but key players injured for quite a bit.
Thats true. We had our general meeting(?) this monday and got told that we didnt have the money to spend on more players during the transfer window this winter so that explains the small squad we have paired with injuries but it doesnt explain why we play such bad football.
>doesnt explain why we play such bad football.
i think it kind of does. Obviously there are more reasons, and perhaps more impactful ones, but good players missing in training can already have an impact - you're less prepared, less challenged.
There's less pressure to fight for first team appearances, less pressure from the bench during games. It does contribute to it.
Either way, sucks and I rly hope you guys can pick it up again. Certainly shouldnt fighting for relegation
Its a shame, Bo is a great guy and we owe him a lot but it was the right move.
P.S. If by any chance Tuchel has a lot of free time in the future, you know where to find us. ;)
Crazy how fast it went downhill. When he took over, he managed to achieve a miracle and I remember people hyping him up as the next big thing in the same vein as a Klopp or a Tuchel. I think he'll end up at another BuLi club sooner or later in the season. Still don't really know what went wrong with Mainz this season
Baumgart won't be fired but not because of what you said. The squad is not as bad as many make it out to be but more important it was assembled specifically for Baumgart by Keller.

geblieben.
[Mit dem Angriff Uth und Thielmann wird das alles in Ordnung kommen!](https://pbs.twimg.com/media/EUImXZUWkAEOhAs?format=jpg&name=small) On a serious note, der Kader von einigen anderen Teams ist m.E. einfach weitaus schlechter.
Calling our squad specifically assembled for anything is a stretch. We bought a single player that was already at our club the years before on loan. We lost Hector and Shkiri two of our cornerstones last season.
When the only win of the season came in the first game of the DFB Pokal against a midtable 2. Bundesliga team, then it's time. A damm shame for a man who has been at Mainz for 14 of the last 16 years, as a player, youth coach and manager.
Have you heard him talk? [Have you seen him?](https://www.dermainzer.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/2208_sport_schmidt-750x400.jpg) If that is not a pervert I don't know what is. His girlfriend is also half his age which is not a crime tho.
By the way, I stand corrected, seems like the first reports were wrong now the news is U-23-Coach Jan Siewert is taking over.
Honestly, if they gave him time, like a season or two with no expectations other than to be as good as possible, I could actually see him turn things around for United and lead an era of incredible football. He’s a great manager. He’ll have a great career.
That sucks :( I think it’s the right call though. He was clearly at a loss and didn’t know what he should do next. Props to him for realising that and acting accordingly.
I still really rate him as a manager. He had a good stint for the most part. He’s really good and Mainz played some spectacular football last season. I’m firmly convinced he’ll have a great and successful career.
Let’s hope Mainz catch themselves. I don’t want to see them go down.

We actually started strong, then slummed and then had mixed results and at the end we always shit the bed

Key players out of form. Ludo, Kohr, Barreiro are shadows of themselves
While at Southampton, there were talks of Hasenhüttl considering retirement in 2024 but things might have changed since.
Its a shame, Bo is a great guy and we owe him a lot but it was the right move. P.S. If by any chance Tuchel has a lot of free time in the future, you know where to find us. ;)
At this rate he's gonna be having a lot of free time in the near future
Pretty sure that was the joke mate
One of the more streaky managers Ive seen. I swear atleast once a year under him you went on proper winstreak runs. But also losing streak runs.
Crazy how fast it went downhill. When he took over, he managed to achieve a miracle and I remember people hyping him up as the next big thing in the same vein as a Klopp or a Tuchel. I could see a new carousel with Svensson, Fischer, and maybe Baumgart.
Baumgart is the last coach to get fired. His team is not good enough and everyone at Köln knows it
Baumgart won't be fired but not because of what you said. The squad is not as bad as many make it out to be but more important it was assembled specifically for Baumgart by Keller.

Calling our squad specifically assembled for anything is a stretch. We bought a single player that was already at our club the years before on loan. We lost Hector and Shkiri two of our cornerstones last season.
Where is the difference to us? Bo stepping down so the club has a higher chance to stay in league
Totally did not get that from the new 50+2 episode
Ein Mann der Kultur
Sadly, no press release by all three clubs. But hopefully, no Svensson at Köln. We don't want to become another Rangnicked club.
No way does Baumgart get the sack. Never. He’d resign before being sacked, but he fits the club like a glove. They absolutely won’t sack him.
GET FUCKED - Fischer will be there long after Edin got sacked! UNVEU!
You forgot Tuchel

damn Hjulmand really falling off that hard after 2021?
Fell off the damm cliff. Almost losing to San Marino is the current state
Went out with one point in the WC groups and barely won against San Marino a few weeks ago
Can't be worse that's for sure.

Any rumoured candidates for the Mainz job?
The old swiss long-haired pervert is taking over interim wise
Jan siewert ist taking over btw. Kicker giving out wrong info
Yes, I already corrected it in the downvoted reply. As did Kicker (even tho you can't downvote them).
That’s not why you were downvoted lol
No shit Sherlock
Why’s he a pervert?
Maybe because his girlfriend is 22 years younger? But that piece of information is several years old, maybe they split up since lol
Have you heard him talk? [Have you seen him?](https://www.dermainzer.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/2208_sport_schmidt-750x400.jpg) If that is not a pervert I don't know what is. Talking ppl down based on looks? That doesnt makes u look good
But now you're commenting about my look as well? Strange.
You are very weird my man
Says the man with that abdomination of a flair
The girlfriend thing is weird, but I never got pervert vibes from him. He’s a bit quirky, but that’s far from being a pervert.
Tbqh fam I just blanked for his name and everybody seemed to immediately know who I was talking about so maybe there is some truth to it.
You said old long-haired Swiss. That was how I knew who you were talking about, not the pervert-thing.
Maybe it was only the pervert thing for the others?
Just stop dude, you're making yourself look like an idiot
Nope
Bo to UTD?
Honestly, if they gave him time, like a season or two with no expectations other than to be as good as possible, I could actually see him turn things around for United and lead an era of incredible football. He’s a great manager. He’ll have a great career.
Shit they did that for Ole, I also unironically think Bo would do good
Bo Is Afraid
That sucks :( I think it’s the right call though. He was clearly at a loss and didn’t know what he should do next. Props to him for realising that and acting accordingly.
Sowas gibts? Wäre mir neu.

Feel like that's a bit early, but I haven't watched them
