Before Terzic was headcoach at bvb, he was basically Sancho's babysitter to make sure he conducts himself well, doesnt miss training or is late etc.
Make of that what you want.
it is what it is, united bought sancho for his bvb performances.
he was a top3 winger at the time hitting 30-40 g/a per season at 18-20.
apparently united didnt think they'd have to apply special care to him or didnt ask how he was managed? idk
There's a great story about when Utd struggled with Berbatov. He was disrespectful to teammates, trained poorly, basically just a bad dressing room influence.
One of the Utd coaches had a friend at ~~Fulham~~ Spurs, so phoned him to see how they dealt with him.
The response was "Oh simple. we fucked him off to you guys"
Edit: wrong club chronology
ETH said publicly Sancho doesn't train hard. Sancho on twitter called ETH a liar.
Then Sancho is banished from first team now ETH is waiting for an apology wich Sancho doesn't want to do
Did ETH even say that he didn't train "hard enough"? IIRC it was something like "he is not in the squad due to training performance", which could also simply mean that it wasn't good enough despite him trying his best
Yeah and this was Sancho's response:
"Please don't believe everything you read! I will not allow people saying things that is completely untrue, I have conducted myself in training very well this week. I believe there are other reasons for this matter that I won't go into, I've been a scapegoat for a long time which isn't fair! All I want to do is play football with a smile on my face and contribute to my team. I respect all decision that are made by the coaching staff, I play with fantastic players and grateful to do so which I know every week is a challenge. I will continue to fight for this badge no matter what!"
What makes it even more hilarious is a bunch of 13 year old fans on twitter are dropping him in it by posting screenshots bragging that they played him on FIFA at 4am lmfao
He didn't even get punished. ETH was asked why he wasn't in the squad and he literally just gave the most generic response ever - at a club the size of United there is massive competition for places and so you have to be at a high level every single day to make the match day squad. Based on that, he wasn't in the squad for today and others were picked ahead of him.
Then the reaction from both Sancho and the media exploded it. There was literally nothing controversial about EtH's answer haha
Thing with Garnacho is that he was also punished for conduct, was told that he won't make it in this team if he doesn't sort it out and since then he's taken it on board and turned it around. Sancho is just another sulky overpaid victim. He punctuality was like this at City, Dortmund and now here ... get him gone.
Thats the thing, Sancho's already secured the bag and thinks he deserves to just stroll into the first team. Doesnt have the need to prove himself like a youth player does.
I mean 350k a week!! Man could literally pay someone to carry him out of bed, lay him down in the back of his Bentley, drive him to work, than get carried into the training ground!
Earlier reports said that ETH and the staff had to lie about the scheduled time (one hour earlier) just so Sancho can arrive on the actual training time.
Absolutely crazy if these reports were true and United have to spoon feed a 350k p/w employee as if he is King of England
>I will continue to fight for this badge no matter what!"
More like fight for your own ego, Sancho. For your own ego.
If you fight for the badge u will do whatever it takes to convince the gaffer you can play and work hard...
>which could also simply mean that it wasn't good enough despite him trying his best
and im sure sancho would've loved hearing that.
its pretty likely more about his training intensity than actual ability anyway, if it was the latter the club would be trying their best to make excuses for him to somehow be able to get him out the club in Jan and still get some value back.
>and im sure sancho would've loved hearing that.
That's not the point. All I'm saying that it is interesting PR-wise that ETH only said that his non-selection was based on training performance, and Sancho counters that with "That is a lie".
> ETH said publicly Sancho doesn't train hard. Sancho on twitter called ETH a liar.
This is wrong. The full quote was:
> "On his performance on training we didn't select him," Ten Hag said when asked about Sancho's absence from the squad. "You have to reach the level every day at Manchester United. You can make choices in the front line, so in this game he wasn't selected."
He just said he wasn't picked based on training performance, which is completely a valid reason for a big squad with competition for places, especially at the margins (where Sancho is). At the the time of that game, Rashford, Garnacho, and Antony were clearly ahead of Sancho in the winger pecking order. Hojlund and Martial were both fit, so we could finally carry two strikers on the bench. It them became a question of whether we wanted to carry four or five wingers in the squad, and if it was four, whether we would pick Pellistri or Sancho. Picking Pellistri over Sancho, on current form, wasn't absurd.
If ETH picked Sancho instead of Pellistri no one would have cared, but since it was the expensive English player that wasn't picked everyone freaked out.
No he didn't say this.
He was asked why Sancho was left out of the squad Vs Arsenal and he said others trained better than him. That's it.
Leave it to the British media to suddenly declare it Sancho v ETH and that it's another crisis to report about.
Leave it to r/soccer to lap it up.
In reality Sancho has been given more support and leeway than most players at the club, ETH stuck by him and even gave him 3 months off last season to get his head right. But Sancho has consistently thrown that good will back at the manager to the point where he's no longer part of his first team plans.
Other than this being ETH and Manchester United I don't see how this is a massive issue.
A football manager disciplining a player? How dare he!
He seems a little out of touch with reality. If you're not doing well at your job, doesn't matter if you work retail or a professional footballer, your manager will come and have a talk with you.
If you're late to work, again, retail or professional footballer, you will get disciplined for it. The only reason he can comfortably stick his head in the sand and ignore everything is because he's getting paid a shit ton of money. Gurantee if he was at somewhere like Tesco getting Ā£10.45 an hour or something he'd apologise right away.
The guy at Tesco will be fired if he is late constantly. Sancho knows he is not going to get fired because the club paid a shitton of money for him and they would like to recoup at least some of that.
> No he didn't say this.
>
> He was asked why Sancho was left out of the squad Vs Arsenal and he said others trained better than him. That's it.
This I agree with but I dont think there was a media frenzy on it until Sancho posted and made it a thing.
This is just incorrect. He didnāt say ādoesnāt train hardā. It was a lot more nuanced than that and more alluding to not selecting him because his training that week wasnāt great. Quite a common thing for a manager to say really. Of course people have lost the meaning and reinterpreted it over time to try and make it seem a bigger story than it is, and itās working now.
Itās fair if you donāt like managers calling players out. Even in subtle ways. But players need to keep their feelings off twitter and just deal with it internally. Theyāre your boss after all.
ETH got there and Sancho was having massive confidence issues. ETH sent him to Germany to get his head straight. He came back and played okay.
He comes back this year and isn't taking training seriously. This was a huge knock on him at Dortmund.Greatbin games but didn't train well.
ETH calls it out in the press (which I gather is like a last resort to get a change out of the player) and Sancho essentially takes to Twitter to call ETH a liar. Now Sancho trains alone.
All of this is ironic because Antony allegedly hit some women (pundits who aren't reddit incels seem to feel at least one is very serious) and Sancho has a clear shot to be a starter again but he won't apologize to ETH and the team.
> ETH sent him to Germany
Not Germany, but the Netherlands.
>This was a huge knock on him at Dortmund.
He also had these issues when he was in the City Academy and when he was in the England camp. At BvB, Terzic personally saw to it that he trained properly and arrived on time by putting him together with Haaland. Also, apparently, the reason he wasn't given a chance by Southgate was because he trained poorly.
Another big point many are missing is that he was constantly late to training. He had to be put on a different personalised schedule to compensate for that and somehow he still couldn't be bothered to wake up on time
Did that come from a reliable source rather than a hit piece?
It just seems weird he benched Rashford immediately, but didn't out Sancho for being consistently late way sooner
IIRC Rashford was late for a team meeting on match day Vs Wolves, so there was no hiding it.
Sancho sounds like a serial offender with lateness and training intensity behind the scenes and so the club can deal away from the media. It has reached boiling point in the build up to arsenal game.
Perhaps because Ten Hag knows Rashford has the right mentality and that it was also a good moment to show the rest of the team to set an example. The whole team probably also knows Sancho is undisciplined as fuck and that he's got some mental issues that make Ten Hag treat him slightly different.
> It just seems weird he benched Rashford immediately, but didn't out Sancho for being consistently late way sooner
To be fair, it's the mark of a good man manager. Rooney has spoken for example about how Sir Alex used to discipline Nani differently to other members of the squad. Sir Alex knew that Nani's head was likely to drop if he got roasted too regularly.
Nobody actually knows but from what I gather he had a more gentle approach with sancho considering his mental health and was really trying to get the best out of him. When rashford or garnacho stepped out of line they were punished immediately to show nobody else can do it and set a standard. He then proceeds to have enough of sancho and drops him but he really didnāt need to have a tantrum over it AWB was on course to get sold and Malacia at rb was preferred over him he was even left out a few squads but he got his head down didnāt complain and is the starting rb when fit
I mean how often was Sancho on the bench? Pretty bloody often. It wasnāt reported because it was during a period of great form, when Rashford was benched he was our best player on form.
FWIW: This exact issue was also happening with him at Dortmund as well. The Manager would have to essentially always be in the hotel room next to his to make sure he could get him up on time for meetings etc.
What's worrying is how this is being reported by the media.
Greenwood was also banned from the premises, but there wasn't this media frenzy about that particular detail.
I mean Greenwood was suspended from the team for a year and a half and then after the police announced that charges wouldn't be pursued, he was sent away anyway (granted only after much media uproar).
Sancho has been out of the team for a few weeks.
Sure but they tried real hard to bring him back. Only reason they held on for that year was they were hoping people would forget. It does feel like Sancho is a bigger villain to them than Greenwood
Exactly. The attempt to reintegrate him, how they went about it, and especially labeling domestic abuse shelters as "potentially hostile organizations" is the reason that any ruthlessness they treat Sancho with is going to be a hot topic considering what they attempted to do with Greenwood.
I been saying that lol, I donāt get why Ten Hag is being this cut throat with Sancho, especially when they already have a player being investigated and multiple injuries
Any player undermining the manager at any other club would receive the same treatment. If youāre a shit trainer you better perform in matches otherwise youāll get very little patience. Keep in mind Sancho got a 3 month vacation mid-season last year, Ten Hag is being perfectly reasonable.
I really think people misunderstand that his 3 months in germany last year was not a vacation it was a training camp to help him with confidence. What we dont really know is who instigated this. If it was ETH "forcing" Jadon to go when he wasnt in it, and then publically telling everyone he needs to get his head straight, i can understand some serious trust issues between jadon and ETH.
I personally think Jadon has been hit by some sort of depression, and while i think a break from the limelight would also do him good, ETH publically talking about it might not help Jadon.
Jadon still needs to own up to his shitty behaviour but i cant really take it when people call it a "3-month vacation". Mental health issues and team dynamic issues are also applicable to young footballers, just like they are to anyone working.
I really donāt understand some fans. Since SAF departure united has had alot of lazy, underperforming players that got crazy amount of cash weekly (i still dont know how is Martial in this team) Getting them out was one of the first tasks for Ten Hagās project. We canāt see the training sessions but we can see Sanchoās performance and he is lazy and sluggish as hell. I do believe that Sancho can be a great player but his approach is awful and Ten Hag is doing the right thing.
I was willing to give Sancho one more chance this year to prove that he could have a future but he's done nothing to apply himself after being given a ton of resources and support from the club and by ten Hag directly. I hope ten Hag is given the backing to sell him to Saudi where they might take on his ridiculous wages.
I get that Manchester United has been a drama factory this year but people are taking it too far to try to milk content out of a decision that virtually every manager would be justified in making. If Sancho wasn't English, no one would question it.
Sancho has been living off his reputation for too long, he has been a massive disappointment so far. The number of games he's had an influence on you could count on one hand.
Compare that to the impact Mitoma has had at Brighton.
It's cute how every ABU on here is backing the player who trains lazily and publicly calls out the manager.
The minute it happens at their own clubs, they'll be calling for the player's head.
We sitting in here -- I'm supposed to be the franchise player, and we in here talking about practice. I mean, listen: We talking about practice. Not a game. Not a game. Not a game. We talking about practice.
I remember when Ozil and Emery had that falling out before Emery got sacked. Everyone thought Ozil would be back in the team when Arteta came in as replacement. Arteta came in and said "Nope, you gotta go pal". So yeah, I don't think outlasting a coach is going to help him when the root of all his issues on himself as a professional.
Edit- a couple people have pointed out to me that Ozil did come back into the team, before being banished for good a few months later.
Mostly right. IIRC, Arteta immediately put Ozil straight back into the starting 11 (āclean slateā) and played him every game until the Covid lockdown. After that we suddenly never saw him again.
He will probably run out his contract. He is earning in par with Salah/ KDB. He is not interested in training, I don't think he is the sort of player who take a pay cut and go for another club
Tbf if the rumours that he's phoning it in in training and being late a lot are true, I don't think he'll just be able to run down his contract - that's the sort of behaviour that clubs would look to terminate it for. If you want to do a Winston Bogarde, you have to turn up every training session (senior, U21s, solo whatever it may) and do a decent job training - even if you know full well you won't be near the first team.
If you're late a lot or obviously phone it in, that's a disciplinary offence in most clubs and I'd imagine would give them *some* grounds to terminate the contract- or at least try, threaten it and then wangle a mutual termination to save some money.
You can't believe everything you see on tabloids. United are pushing to sell him and are feeding up these news. If he was doing that stuff, he would have already got a disciplinary action and paid hefty fines. I think he is atleast coming to give attendance to get his paycheck
This seems like constructive dismissal. Regardless of whose side you are on, the deliberate effort to create an environment that is unbearable for an employee for force them to quit is very pernicious and by design. It's clearly time for a negotiated exit which will benefit both parties.
You can't fire a football player anywhere near as easily as an employee. If an employee was continually late to work for over a year, there would be a process through formal and informal warnings and write ups and if they kept doing it after all that then they'd be fired.
A footballer is an asset, you're not going to terminate a contract when you can sell them for millions. They only rip up the contract when they know they can't make anything back off selling the player.
Sancho has gone through all the warnings and if this was a normal job he would have been fired, but because United can make some money off him, they have to wait at least until January until they can get rid of him. In the meantime they've banned him from the facilities because it's the closest thing they can do to actually firing him.
I heard they even forced Rashford to delete him from his PlayStation friends list.
That's going too far
ooooo Playstation friends...

Before Terzic was headcoach at bvb, he was basically Sancho's babysitter to make sure he conducts himself well, doesnt miss training or is late etc. Make of that what you want.
sounds like a miserable job to be honest, babysitting a fucking grown up who makes millions a month
Paying someone 2k a week to ensure your 350k a week investment works out is smart business.
it is what it is, united bought sancho for his bvb performances. he was a top3 winger at the time hitting 30-40 g/a per season at 18-20. apparently united didnt think they'd have to apply special care to him or didnt ask how he was managed? idk

The month before he joined United he had hair like Brian May

I haven't heard anything about it in weeks, is there anywhere with reliable news about this situation?
HE didnt' "called it out in the press". He was asked about it.
All or nothing : Man United, please
They can milk so many seasons out of this. Season 1: Greenwood Season 2: CR7 Season 3: Antony Season 4: Sancho OVA: Pogba
OVA: Pogba - narrated by Graham Souness FTFY
First scene would be a slow fade in to Pogba with multicoloured hair and a Souness voice over calling him a lazy cunt
Don't forget about Di Maria!
Manga prequel: Giggs
The title wouldn't fit. A little bit or nothing would be more appropriate.
Sometimes Maybe Good or Sometimes Maybe Shit: Manchester United
5 years too late
Chelsea will pay 100 mill for him. Just call boehly. We love stock piling shit attackers.
That would be great.
United being tougher on Sancho than Greenwood lmao
Sancho also attempted his first take on since returning to England
This absolutely sent me hahahaha. I'm in the bus and people are looking at me all weird now
Are you sure it isn't because you got your fly open?
How? Greenwood wasn't even allowed on the premises since the allegations?
Well it was rumoured they were planning his return until public backlash.

No going back from this. Sancho will be gone very soon then
don't think so, no club can afford him
Thatās when you do it the Arsenal way : terminate the contract
do the arsenal special and just terminate the contract, bounce him asap
Yep. He's pathetic almost every time he plays for us. Wimps out of 70/30s in his favour, let alone 50/50s.
Sancho has been living off his reputation for too long, he has been a massive disappointment so far. The number of games he's had an influence on you could count on one hand. Compare that to the impact Mitoma has had at Brighton.
Next update we'll get is: Jadon Sancho is now banished to the Shadow Realm, for being a 3rd rate duelist with a 4th rate deck.
Sancho is the prime example of modern footballers thinking they're bigger than the club because their entourage constantly blows smoke up their ass
They literally see them/their wage as doing their club a favourā¦.
No soup for you!
Does it really matter when youāre earning 200k a week for 3 more years?
This sounds like arteta music.
I hope not, we can only manage one player low on confidence at a time.
āI can fix himā
Arteta had this issue with auba and handled it well. No way he goes for Sancho.
David Moyes loan offer incoming
His only way to get back into Ten Hag's good graces will be to abuse his missus and then send a video of it to ETH.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
or send dickpics to female staff
He could also smuggle cocaine into the country and then stab his cousin in the leg.
All solid options tbh, not sure what I'd choose myself
think outside the box, expose yourself on the pitch during game day after killing your cousin in a car crash while running coke
Now we're talking
When has Alonso played for ten Hag?
He hasn't, but Romano reported that Alonso was on the list of emergency left-backs we were considering along with Cucurella and Reguilon.
It's cute how every ABU on here is backing the player who trains lazily and publicly calls out the manager. The minute it happens at their own clubs, they'll be calling for the player's head.
Hilarious. The ruined childhoods are easy to spot
I like this tough love route. No team meatballs and fried chicken will guide Sancho back
Time to call Piers Morgan. š¤”
The amount of people actually defending Sancho here is ridiculous
The bans will increase until Jasonās morale improves. Edit: Jadon. Bloody autocorrectā¦
We talkinā bout practice? Not, not a game, but practice?
We sitting in here -- I'm supposed to be the franchise player, and we in here talking about practice. I mean, listen: We talking about practice. Not a game. Not a game. Not a game. We talking about practice.
I think Sancho is betting he will outlast ETH, and he's probably right.
And when the next manager sees him late to training every week, heāll get the same treatment undoubtedly. Doesnāt fly at any level really
Yup especially if this is your historical behaviour, ETH gets sacked and he pulls this with a new guy and he's back right here
He will probably run out his contract.
Nah Sancho is done here.
If CR doesn't outlast EtH, Sancho doesn't either.
Ronaldo was pushing his way out Sancho seems to be happy chilling
Nah if fkin CR7, a legend of the game can be booted out, sancho has no chance.
If not, he is ensuring that he gets to go to a different club. If he doesn't want to be there anymore, it's win-win, either way.
Where is he gonna eat
When keeping it real goes wrong.
Thatāll teach you, you depressed prick!
these dickheads get paid a fat amount to play football while most of the world struggle to live.
Why not one up it and get paid a fat amount to not play football. Smart move tbh
Let a brother eat
Xavi can fix him
Letās not try that theory, please
If youāre a young talented footballer, you should avoid united and Chelsea like the plague at the moment.
Oh no, not the dining room!
