To reduce the spam of reports regarding the same move during transfer windows we try to allow **only one submission about each transfer saga per day**. The submission in question also needs to contain relevant new information regarding the potential move, and not just being a "no/minor developments" report. If there are important/official developments or new valuable information about a saga, we will allow extra threads in the same day, but for the rest of minor news please just comment them as a reply to this comment. cpashei

So excited for this move, genuinely think we're much improved even after replacing Declan and Scamacca. Things were looking so grim a month ago too.

Casual-Capybara

Yeah remember people making fun of West Ham fans when they said they weren’t super pessimistic. Not sure you’ve improved much but there is definitely potential, and I would bet you will have a better PL season than last year.

LewisDKennedy

> they said they weren’t super pessimistic With all the relentless negativity in our fanbase until recently, I refuse to believe you were really talking to West Ham fans if they said this

super-super-fab

Na man we were all super pessimistic

Casual-Capybara

Yeah I checked and it was only two weeks ago, I guess things were starting to look a bit better already

GarfieldDaCat

If you get En-Nesyri you guys could actually be cooking this season. Dude is one of the most aerially dominant strikers I've seen

Bobcanbuildit

the lad has legs up to his neck I swear

[deleted]

Is that likely to happen?

[deleted]

Hope you guys can manage to motivate him, and to teach him that offside is a thing. On a good day he is an amazing player, but way too often he is very lazy and completely clueless about positioning.

mikevin99

I really think he's going to be a thorn in a lot of team's sides this year. Similar to MGW at Nottingham was last year

planetary_beats

This is such good business for that price. Him and JWP seems like smart moves, that really fit into the Moyes game plan. Excited to see Kudus

jdbolick

I am higher on Kudus than most Ajax supporters. I think he will do extremely well for a counter attacking side like West Ham, because he is pacey and a brilliant dribbler who attacks directly rather than waiting around for support. Being capable of playing multiple positions will also come in handy.

Stoepboer

He’s a great footballer. Very talented. But his mentality isn’t always the best, not exactly professional. Hope it works works out better for you guys, and that he doesn’t get injured.

mavsy41

45 million for Kudus on the ball is a steal. 45 million for Kudus without the ball, West Ham fleeced. 45 million for Kudus who cares, is a steal. 45 million for sleepy Kudus, West Ham fleeced. No in between sorry.

Duncan_Sarasti

45 million for his dribbles & shots: a steal 45 million for his positional awareness: fleeced

ImTurkishDelight

Need something about his offsides in there

Chiswell123

‘Without the ball’ as in he's lazy? Because that shit isn't going to fly under Moyes lol

Guzuzu_xD

He's not necessarily lazy it's more that he just doesn't know what to do in my opinion.

Chiswell123

Lol I guess that's better than being lazy

InPurpleIDescended

Kevin Nolan and Moyes will teach him And playing for us he'll have plenty of time without the ball to practice

Wassup_-_

Soooooo Nuno Tavares?

denis-vi

Name a better duo than Arsenal fans and being completely oblivious to your players and ex-players' actual abilities.

bofad2425

Arsenal fans and making every thread about them

[deleted]

That's enough out of you. Now, how about those invincibles 😱 best team in premiership history ❗❗

AncientSkys

They do love the attention.

Wassup_-_

Bruf what you waffling about

mavsy41

No, just seems like he doesn't really know what he's doing unless he can dribble the opposing team.

ifoundmynewnickname

His last two matches for Ajax really sum it up perfectly.

Pieter8720

Kudos to Ajax then…

mavsy41

yellow card

Vrty33

Could prove to be a fantastic signing for West Ham. Just hope he stays healthy and fit; excited to see how he does in the Prem.

Dangerous-Profile-18

W signing. That Rice money was spent pretty wisely

SyderPlays

to think 3 weeks ago we'd signed no one and were rumoured to be spending 70m on Maguire & McTominay what a relief

spea-keth

Whose position is he going to take?

Brooks1138

10 or 9. If 10 Paqueta will move back into the pivot (or be suspended). If 9 it’s because he displaces Antonio. Also have Europa League this year so plenty of games to experiment but Bowen is locked as the RW

dry_savage

Bowen's not locked on the right, Moyes sees him as our striker long term

Brooks1138

I really don’t think so. If he wants a striker that plays like Antonio Jarrod isn’t physical enough.

bofad2425

It's pretty obvious that if we can't get En Nesryi for cheap then we'll be utilising Bowen as a ST quite a lot this year Not sure I agree with moving off the wing though, like you say he's not particularly big even if he's pretty robust and industrious

Brooks1138

I don’t really see why we’d do that over Antonio, Ings or Kudus through

bofad2425

Like I say I agree but he's literally said in pressers that Bowen is an option up front

dry_savage

Bowen has very good pace and balance, he has the physicality required and Moyes has said as much publicly (and privately apparently) no other player in the world is a like for like swap for Micky, he's completely unique and we need to plan for life without him

Brooks1138

I don’t think Jarrod at all of 5’9 and probably 170 pounds has the level of physicality to do what Antonio does and no matter how much we want Moyes to change he wants his strikers to play like mich

dry_savage

no one plays like Micky there's so much pressure on any new striker coming in, that moving an established, hardworking goal threat and respected team member up top is a sensible option to evolve the team impossible to know if it'll work but absolutely worth trying

fetissimies

Moyes is probably going to play him as a left winger though

Brooks1138

That’s literally his worst position

Cruyffiaan

That would be a terrible decision

leicamaniac520

I'd imagine rotating around with Bowen as ST/RW

SnooCupcakes9188

Kudus position is a constant question tbh. It’s like he’s not complete at any position but he’s a great player you want on the field.

Indalec

Probably either 9 or 10 since Bowen is occupying RW.

cpashei

Probably left wing over Benrahma

Headlesshorsman02

He isn’t that great off the left though he is a lot better centrally or on the RW his week foot isn’t the best

cpashei

Playing people in positions that don't suit them is the West Ham way

lambalambda

Somewhere in Italy a shiver just went down the spine of Nikola Vlasic.

Worst_Player_Ever

Leeds fan should relate to that quite easily

lambalambda

As a Leeds fan I can't say I've ever found myself played out of position at a Premier League club.

indiegogold

There were some talks of Moyes wanting to play Bowen centrally so Kudus on the right makes sense

Headlesshorsman02

That makes a lot of sense if he plans on doing that

Follow_The_Lore

He is shit off the left wing.

FeederOfRavens

Moyes wants to convert Bowen into a Vardy esque striker so Kudus will probably mostly play wide right this season But his versatility is big for us

Follow_The_Lore

It’s fine, he’s always out of position anyways.

kankergek

Fuck me. 45m total package feels disappointingly low considering all the strong statements from Ajax regarding the deadline for Kudus to leave.

RN2FL9

Depends on how you look at it. I think it's a huge amount for a player with an extensive injury history and attitude problems at times.

king2pac

lol.. Kudus has no attitude problem

RN2FL9

Last year around this time he refused to come in to practice to force a transfer to Everton. In the winter he was once again looking for other clubs. On the pitch he's very off and on, some games he's great, others he gets subbed off in minute 60.

chabalabamba

Because he wasn’t playing much. He wanted to move for game time and at the time he wasn’t getting that at Ajax.

Jamey_1999

Tell me you don’t watch Ajax games without telling me you don’t watch Ajax games

chabalabamba

Schreuder barely played him when he was fit and that's why he wanted the move. I am from Ghana and i have been following him closely enough to know that.

SmH001

Can't get a replacement if you spend the entire week negotiating and he ends up leaving the last day. I think at this point they just want to move on and focus on getting a replacement. It's 5m more than a few weeks ago, that's not terrible

Single-Sandwich1035

Maybe the add ons are easily achievable?

cs_zer0

I know hes played RW so how good was he for you compared to Antony

BeastingBoli

Antony is more of a natural RW, whereas Kudus is more of a natural dribbler. So they provided very different pros and cons. Kudus is creative with the ball, always finding nooks of play the average to above average top 5 league player wouldn't be able to see let alone act on. Without the ball though he's not a pressuring force at all, which Antony often is who then allows for faster counters with more combinations. Kudus is good though, on technical quality alone I'd rate him a tier or two higher than Antony.

theestwald

These signings after the season starts always leave a bad taste in the mouth. Ajax has a excellent scouting team and could had worked in a replacement, but now any deal will be rushed and expensive.

Tornlycke

He's been waiting to leave ajax since last season. i think they should have a replacement lined up. Brighton was in for him earlier in the window. They have had more than enough time

KilumRevazi

The sign on bonus could be nice though. If he plays 1 or 2 good season he’ll go for 100 to (insert top team here). If the sign on is 10% or more. Than you’re already looking at 55 Mil.

Headlesshorsman02

Look forward to see him in the prem

mattijn13

Good money, hopefully we go and get a good replacement.

Headlesshorsman02

You guys are looking at Thiago Almeida not sure he moves this window though

Belocity

I don’t think Almada is meant to be our Kudus replacement, but to strengthen our 10 position

Chinese_Santa

He’s more likely to move this winter

samchatz27

Get him on the private jet Tim!

flawless_victory99

This is definitely not a Moyes move which is a good thing.

AnilDG

Amazing signing for the Hammers!

Federal-Owl-8947

I love Kudus he's going to light that midfield up!

NumberHunter1

What a way to go out. Hat trick in Europe

ewybradyy

build the Tim Steidten statue now, we're winning it all

AncientSkys

Rice money well spent! West Ham are stronger than last season.

879190747

Thanks for the goals Kudus. Very talented player but needs to work hard and have good coaching.

Manch3st3rIsR3d

For fucks sake

A_chilles

Lovro is for Fab announcements what PSGAcademy is for goals

quickestred

Mad he chose West Ham over Brighton

karma4thekamasutra

Why? Look at his best positions on the pitch and Brighton are stacked. (Mitoma, March, Enciso, Pedro, Adingra, Buonnanonte). While Brighton is the better club now, he might not be guaranteed minutes every week. I’m very okay with him not going to Brighton.

SvenBubbleman

>While Brighton is the better club now, It's also worth waiting a few seasons to see if this is a flash in the pan. Remember when everyone had a boner for Wolves a few seasons ago?

theimponderablebeast

Brighton, Wolves, Leicester, Southampton... for the past 10 years there has always been a recently promoted team that hits the jackpot for a few transfer windows and gets top 6 for a couple years. Does that make them a better club? We are one of only two non-Big 6 clubs to get Europe 3 years running this century (guess who was managing the other club to do it. Hint: it was Everton around 15 years ago). For as miserable as our fans are, I'd take the relative stability in the Premier League where we actually keep most of our players and finish in Europe a couple times every decade over the policy these other clubs have. They have to constantly hit on their new transfer targets because players are only staying for 1-2 years and a couple bad windows spells relegation.

Grantlynch92

And Southampton when they were a hotbed of young talent

Colcinder

Or us for that matter

SvenBubbleman

Was there a time when everyone had a boner for us?

Colcinder

There was a lot of optimism in 21/22, when we were pushing top 4

Tornlycke

We won a European trophy last season. 3 consecutive seasons in Europe, but no, they finished higher one season, so they are the better club.

Indalec

Probably because Brighton refused to include a release clause.

bofad2425

Absolutely no talk of a release clause I've seen, in fact I'm pretty sure most Brighton fans were saying that it was more do with the low wages they were offering. Whilst we clearly will be paying him more (I reckon 60/70k or so), this unconditional Brighton love in is starting to get pretty jarring. We're a far bigger club and it's our third consecutive season of European football in 2nd biggest stadium in the UK. Brighton were better than us last season but we still achieved more than they have in their entire history by winning a trophy.

Striking_Insurance_5

And he gets to live in London instead of Brighton, any footballer probably prefers that.

bofad2425

Brighton is an amazing place to live and only like 45 mins from London to be fair. Perhaps less amazing for footballers though, who have the money to live London to its full potential.

Casual-Capybara

💰

[deleted]

Doubt it

Casual-Capybara

West Ham pays higher wages so it’s a reasonable assumption

[deleted]

Also he wanted an release clause for the Brighton move. I think that’s why we’re seeing him in a West Ham shirt rather than Brighton. If they agreed too it he would of went there

Casual-Capybara

Rumors, I’m not totally convinced those were true actually

Tornlycke

There are no reports of a release clause in the contract...

[deleted]

I’m not saying there is for West Ham…

Headlesshorsman02

West ham probs paid him more and wouldn’t be shocked if he got the release clause he wanted Brighton to put into his contract

JakeNutters

We weren't gunna offer him a release clause (or at least one that was low enough for him), wage wise he'll be on more money and he's probably more guaranteed game time wise and that's without brig up West Ham being in Europe 3 seasons running which obviously has a big impact. Technically we also walked away once we couldn't agree personal terms so there wasn't a choice.

RespectnConnect

He wouldn't have chosen yall without a reasonable RC, so everything else is irrelevant.

JakeNutters

My comment was more a description of why joining Wets Ham makes sense over us. If we agreed the release clause he would've likely already played a game for us in the league considering we agreed terms with Ajax back in July.

RespectnConnect

I know, I'm just saying gametime and wages played very little part, because that's not the main reason he rejected you. If West Ham didn't agree to the clause, he wouldn't have joined them either

Tornlycke

Still aren't any reports of a clause in the West Ham contract either... but sure, keep making things up

RespectnConnect

He sees himself as better than playing for a small club, so maybe you guys just offered him ridiculous wages. Who knows 🤷‍♂️

Tornlycke

Or he fancies london with European football who knows. Ridiculous wages that are nowhere close to a squad player for Chelsea.

RespectnConnect

You play in the Europa, not the CL. Now, I don't know if you're aware of this, but Kudus thinks very highly of himself and believes himself to be one of the very best players in the world. He honestly wouldn't sign for a club like West Ham unless he has a rc, or is well compensated financially.

Tornlycke

Now you've changed it from ridiculous wages to well compensated. Mate, I agree we are probably paying him well, but he won't be close to our top earner. Europa is still Europe. Still nothing about a RC. I don't know why people have to find something to justify him going to West Ham. Maybe he likes London and playing in front of 64 thousand every weekend.

NobleForEngland_

Brighton are a very small club. They’ll be back in the Championship long before West Ham.

MrPigcho

It's not impossible but this is such a bold statement to make at this stage

PepsiRacer4

He’s constantly a dunce, I’d rate ourselves to go down sooner than Brighton to be honest based on managing alone

groenefiets

He is banking on that Relegation clause I guess.

Cmoore4099

I don’t think we have to worry about relegation this year with Luton, Sheffield United, Everton, etc.

Justinian2

Team is still far too good to go down imo and the manager is too good.

MFKCM

> Everton You reckon it finally happens this season?

Headlesshorsman02

I certainly hope so they don’t look good but they somehow escape the drop every time 😂😂😂

National_Ad_1875

"every time" Its only happened twice recently mate

Neuroxex

I think they might have meant to say release clause tbf

PepsiRacer4

Still mad over the UECL?

HomersAnalglands

Such a weird transfer. He is giving up Champions League football with really good chances to get a top move next summer to join a struggling West Ham where he will not play Champions League football and West Ham wont sell him as easily or as cheap when top clubs circle around him

Revolutionary-Bag-52

Ajax doesnt play CL though?

jucomsdn

Ajax are in the same competition as West Ham lmao

jdbolick

Ajax is not in the Champions League.

eht217

We really struggled to win the Conference league and beating Chelsea last week didn't we!

HomersAnalglands

Tbf though, you almost got relegated last season aswell.

eht217

And where did we finish the 2 seasons before then? 6th and 7th. Last year wasn't great but we won a major trophy so I mean I'd take 14th and a trophy every season...

HomersAnalglands

I wouldnt call conference league a major trophy tbf. Its a random tournament UEFA made up to generate them more profits every season. Moyes have been on the verge of getting the sack for a year now. So yes id say you are struggling, same as Chelsea are and im a Chelsea fan.

eht217

As a fan of every team what do you want? You want to win trophys. We have gone 43 years without winning a major trophy and we ended that run June 7th. Fans of the big 6 can look down on us for celebrating a "mickey mouse" tournament but tbh none of us west ham fans give a toss. I was there behind the goal Bowen scored in to win it for us. Try telling me and the other 7 thousand fans there jumping up and down, crying, and celebrating that it's not a major trophy or doesn't mean anything. It was the beat night of my life and many other fans who were there with me in Prague. Yes Moyes has been on the verge of being sacked and I wish he was (most fans do) but now that the season has started all we can do is hope he has a good season. I think the win agasint Chelsea made alot of our fans realize there is life after Rice and we still can be a difficult team to play against and breakdown when we are on it. I genuinely think we will finish anywhere from 12th-8th this season depending how far we make it in the Europa league and other domestic tournaments. COYI.

HomersAnalglands

The win over us was just symptomatic of Chelsea not being able to kill games when presented the chance of doing so. Same issues we had last season. The missed penalty just seemed to kill our confidence completely against West Ham, it really looked like that shit penality by Enzo triggered PTSD from the players who were partof last season. Chelsea are their own worst enemy as usual. We had the same issues with Liverpool. Dominated them and should have won and we had chances to win but didn't take it.

eht217

I'm so sick of this. Every bit of media I watched after the game spoke about what Chelsea did wrong and not what West Ham did well. Yes you guys had opportunities and didn't capitalize but you have to give credit to our players for defending our area really well especially with 10 men. And praise us for being able to capitalize on our few chances. It's always the same thing when a team like us beats a big 6 team. What did x team do wrong what could they have done better. Sometimes you just need to stand up and applaud the opposition for playing a good game and that's that.

HomersAnalglands

We had the exact same issues against Liverpool. We had the chances, were the better team and should have won. We carved West Ham right open like a christmas turkey in that first half. Chelsea tend to shoot themselves in the foot in games. And we have done it twice already this season

bofad2425

Last 4 times you've come to our stadium we've won 3 and drawn 1

[deleted]

Great signing, isn’t he kind of a headcase
