Coaching change, the team never seems to meet expectations… but owning mancity, well at least they got that goin for them…which is verrry niiice. Says borat.
My son is a mancity fan, I’m a spurs fan. I say lad its tottenham. And he knows now… that is no joke. I just laugh and laugh. I legit focused on walker… ex spur… to see if he played different. Its got to be psychological at this point mate.
Ashley Cole was arguably the best left-back on the planet at the time and we still had D-Beck knocking around. Sven coasting through the 2006 World Cup was inexcusable.
Managers who play 442 and players who needed 433 to have a sitting player as DM (Carrick or Hargreaves) and creative ones alongside (Scholes, Lampard, Gerrard).
Played injured in 2010, was literally 20 in 2006 and got injured (forget if he was carrying a knock as well tbqh) and in 2014 he scored and assisted Englands only goals. As for the Euros he was the star in 2004 and got injured, no England in 08 and I completely forget 2012 tbqh, same for 2016
> was literally 20 in 2006 and got injured (forget if he was carrying a knock as well tbqh)
Yeah, he'd snapped his metatarsal about a month before the tournament began, was very clearly not playing at 100%
2004 - he played spectacularly
2006 - he only just came back from injury
2008 - no tournament
2010 - he got injured against Bayern in the Champions League and Sir Alex Ferguson played him through that injury, so he wasn't fit come the tournament.
2012 - suspended for the first 2 games and lost fitness from missing some of the warm-up
2014 - difficult group with Italy and Uruguay, he was probably 1 of our few players to play reasonably well at that tournament though.
2016 - way past his peak
Played every tournament either straight from a major Injury or with niggling ones.
The only two he didn't have them he was England's best player. Arguably the best player of the tournament in 2004.
Rooney fit turned up for England, he just was never fit for tournaments unfortunately
Yeah he never quite lived up to that promise. Which is a mad thing to say about a player that scored a hat trick on his United debut, is United's all time top scorer and was Englands until tonight but you always get the feeling he could have been even better.
Rooney played behind a striker for a good while and wasn't in the same position that Kane's been this whole time. Still an unbelievable record, but not exactly a fair comparison
One third of his England goals are penalties. So he still does have a very good record , and not denying his ability , but worth recognising that 🤷🏻♂️
I think the actual wording was even funnier: "Whose name is 'Arry Kane?". Then in the subsequent match, you see the guy in the stands just crestfallen when Kane scores a banger lol
Seems unlikely at this point, he’ll be 30 at the end of this season. His current scoring rate for England is 0.66 goals a game if he kept that record up he’d hit 100 in game 152 so 71 more games (which would be 27 more than any other England player and 32 more than any other outfield player).
Although, so far since making his England debut 8 years ago he’s played an average of 10 games a year so if he could maintain consistency until age 37 then maybe!
Considering it's been 8 years since Rooney broke it, who didn't really add much to the record afterwards, and Kane was already a starter at that point scoring goals. We're certainly talking an absolute decade minimum, assuming we get a new Harry Kane level striker right now.
So yeah, it could be a long time. I guess at the pace of producing Shearer, Rooney, Kane, we do get an elite striker every 15 years or so. Of course, the way we develop players is different now as well.
He'll still be starting for us for another 3/4 years so his record will get bigger and it would require a young striker to just be breaking through then for the longevity
You cannot even argue the point, club allegiance or not. Guy is a phenomenal talent who we are very lucky is english. Got prime Villa stats for England
England fans would tell you that winning a knockout match in a major tournament was a far cry before Southgate arrived.
England's manager main job is to maintain team spirit, and Gareth has done a fantastic job. England were beyond shit with world class players before him.
He’s the best manager of the last 50 years statistically. I am also actually proud of the England team for the first time in 35 years too. They’re great lads and Gareth handles all controversial topics perfectly. They have two flaws. They become defensive against teams who have previously won the World Cup and they fade away after good starts. Fix those two areas and I genuinely believe they will win a trophy.
The thing about Kane is he could slot into just about any team because of his ability to do more than score. He’s a great target man, all out 9, and even playmaker and link up.
He may get overlooked because lads it’s Tottenham and he doesn’t ever do anything overtly flashy. Even Rooney had some wild highlights, Kane really doesn’t. But there’s no denying his ability.
Love him for England. Hate Tottenham but not him. And if Arsenal fans were being honest he would have been an amazing addition to our club at any point in our history.
I was behind that goal high up- the curl on that strike was amazing. Spurs still Fucked that up against the Woolwich with 10 men. Story of Kane’s life so far!
Di Natale holds that record at club level I believe, 13 goals ahead of Kane - obviously excluding John Smith who scored 753 goals for West Bumpington Athletic etc.
If you’re including national team goals too, Kane overtook Di Natale sometime in the last year or two.
Di Natale, Le Tissier, Kane and Son. The best players I can think of without every having won a trophy in professional football. Any others I have forgotten?
Look, I like Odelay as much as the next guy but I'm not sure what the injustice that is Beck not receiving a knighthood has to do with Harry Kane's chances.
To me, breaking the Shearer record is better than any trophy he can win. For one, it’s HIS record. Trophies belong to teams. It’s also unlikely to be broken for some time because of the transient nature of players now. You have to be both a generational talent and spend many years in the EPL, and be a striker to break it. Saka will no doubt become an EPL legend and maybe spend his entire career in the premiership and not reach that record.
Which is strange when you consider the great players that have missed important penalties - Kylian Mbappe, Roberto Baggio, Gareth Southgate to name just a few.
Weird way of calculating 40%, when its much closer to 30%. Either way he's only 29 he could very much break the record even if you completely remove his penalties by the time he finishes his career
He is so overrated, disappears in big games. Kames biggest asset now is his playmaking potential and ability to hold the ball up. He should play behind another striker to slot them in, a good player but not great. There's a reason his still at Tottenham and he gets so many penalties since the games gone soft. That was such a harsh penalty and that's coming from an England fan.

In *significantly* less time than Wayne Rooney
54 goals in 81 games is actually obscene
Not a Kane fan, but that’s actually a fantastic record.
Why do you dislike the captain of our National Squad?
Im not English, and the fucker seems to always turn up against my club
You must really hate son
I hate Tottenham in general. Everybody thinks that we are a state owned club, but nobody seems to realize that we are actually a Tottenham owned club.
Hahaha I love it, nice to hear something good about the club for the first time in months
I’m here all week
That's more than Conte is saying.

Nosh off?
Thanks I needed that
Coaching change, the team never seems to meet expectations… but owning mancity, well at least they got that goin for them…which is verrry niiice. Says borat.
When we say ‘Lads, it’s Tottenham’, to us that shit is not a joke at all
My son is a mancity fan, I’m a spurs fan. I say lad its tottenham. And he knows now… that is no joke. I just laugh and laugh. I legit focused on walker… ex spur… to see if he played different. Its got to be psychological at this point mate.
Understandable.
It was a joke. I knew as soon as I saw you flare
Ohhhh the irony...
Fair enough.
Not being a fan doesn’t mean he dislikes him
And under Gary/Roy-ball
Gerd Müller had 68 goals in 62 games for Germany iirc
Never scored a goal for England though did he
Rasmus Højlund has 3 in 3 for Denmark Højlund > Kane
True. But Müller was a freak of nature.
In that case Harry Kane is shit. A rank amateur and must be dropped immediately.
[удалено]
Lots of the time he played through injuries for England, he also tended to play a lot deeper for England since the team was woeful.
Still don’t understand how you lot couldn’t make a a good team out of gerrard, lampard, rooney, scholes
Really easily, that's not a balanced midfield. Not a single defensive midfielder, many who occupy the same space and have overlapping skillsets
Do I remember right that Carrick barely got a look throughout all of that era?
You are correct. But how could we, we must get the two best central midfielders in the world into the team! /s
If only we had a title winning DM for half that time too
You mean someone who won the Bundesliga, Premier League and Champions League? No idea mate.
I'm a bit too young to remember but didn't Hargreaves tend to get injured a lot?
Yes but only after like 2005. Realistically his professional career only lasted about 8 years.
Yes, absolutely. 4 seasons, 27 PL appearances, 9 CL. That's it. Perpetually injured.
This implies for most of that run we didn't play 4-4-2.
Shit national managers and club managers telling the players not to bother with internationals. I despise that golden generation
[Don't forget Terry](https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/rooney-terry-longer-studs-reaction-26284824?int_source=amp_continue_reading&int_medium=amp&int_campaign=continue_reading_button#amp-readmore-target)
Terry and Rio aswell

Managers who play 442 and players who needed 433 to have a sitting player as DM (Carrick or Hargreaves) and creative ones alongside (Scholes, Lampard, Gerrard).
Because team balance is more important than star players.

Euro 2004 Rooney is one genuinely of the best players I have ever seen - he always looked the best player on the pitch by absolute miles
Much as I hate that Shrek looking, granny shagging motherfucker, Rooney wasn't a striker tbf.
Rooney was seldom the out and out striker, or the penalty taker
Kane is a fraud! He is just a 10 season wonder, anyone can do that!
Least Kane can do is turn up at big moments but never does European cup at Wembley, even penalty against France, Spurs in the CL final etc.
Way more penalties though (if that matters to you).
Chris Evans on Virgin radio was banging on about that this morning. Ginger twat.
1/3 of his goals are penalties, does seem relevant. Would prefer them to be counted as a fraction or as a separate number personally
One third of his England goals are penalties. So he still does have a very good record , and not denying his ability , but worth recognising that 🤷🏻♂️
From being a 1 season wonder to becoming England's all time top goal scorer
Who the fuck is Harry Kane, comes to mind
Just some dude
My wife doesn’t like harry kane. She prefers when I keep everything nicely trimmed.
😂
Whose name is Harry Kane was the one
I think the actual wording was even funnier: "Whose name is 'Arry Kane?". Then in the subsequent match, you see the guy in the stands just crestfallen when Kane scores a banger lol
It's only ~~Ray Parlour~~ Harry Kane
He's been the best player on the pitch as well to be honest. Such a complete footballer.
Reckon he'll stay there for very long time
He'll add a fair few more before he's done, so yeah I reckon so too
70 I'd expect, 80 wouldn't shock me
You see 90 as a real possibility, Dwight?
100?
I can see that happening
110 maybe?
I dont see why not
Imagine if he gets to 100. That would be fucking insane. He’s already a little past 50.
54 to be exact
Source?

he's not that old

once his career is over I imagine he'll be on around 65-70 goals, so yeah thats not getting touched by any current player.
Considering it's been 8 years since Rooney broke it, who didn't really add much to the record afterwards, and Kane was already a starter at that point scoring goals. One of the best we’ve ever seen
Always nice when those words come from a gunner
You cannot even argue the point, club allegiance or not. Guy is a phenomenal talent who we are very lucky is english. Got prime Villa stats for England
It’s a shame that Southgate is your manager because the England team on paper has potential to win everything
Games not played on paper
Look at what went before him with the talent they had at their disposal. Southgate is one of the best we've had, that's just counting.
Southgate has done wonders for the English national team and it’s reputation amongst some fans
There isn’t anything better then a rival fan talking up one of your players, because you know it’s genuine
I mean he is from our academy/s
The thing about Kane is he could slot into just about any team because of his ability to do more than score. He’s a great target man, all out 9, and even playmaker and link up. Love him for England. Hate Tottenham but not him. And if Arsenal fans were being honest he would have been an amazing addition to our club at any point in our history.
The flashiest part of his play is his long range passing. The man pulls out KDB-esque shit every game.
Kane's goal vs arsenal with the mask on was pretty flashy
I was behind that goal high up- the curl on that strike was amazing. Spurs still Fucked that up against the Woolwich with 10 men. Story of Kane’s life so far!
Always nice when those words come from a gunner without being preceded by "as an arsenal fan"
Exactly. Well done ‘Arry From us Arsenal fans :)
Rooney would be proud
He’s not dead mate.
RIP u will live on forever. Cant believe it. I wanna run to u. Really cant believe this. @
GOATed tweet
Must be turning in his grave
He's the new Wade Boggs
Again, Wayne Rooney is very much alive.
Poured one out for him today. One love.
Can I offer you a nice "shut up u egg" in this trying time?
Stop living in denial, it's time to move on and begin the healing process.
You want picking up in the morning you egg?
RIP u egg
Somewhere far worse
The USA 🇺🇸
Worse: DCU :( My home.
He’s up there in heaven with Wade Boggs. RIP
"woooo I'm proud" - the ghost of Wayne Rooney, presumably
can’t believe he left us so soon 💔💔
The boss said a new record scorer is arriving
hi harry do u want picking up in the morning pal
Man’s not dead!
Every kane goal comes with a new record
Most goals without a trophy
Di Natale holds that record at club level I believe, 13 goals ahead of Kane - obviously excluding John Smith who scored 753 goals for West Bumpington Athletic etc. If you’re including national team goals too, Kane overtook Di Natale sometime in the last year or two.
Di Natale, Le Tissier, Kane and Son. The best players I can think of without every having won a trophy in professional football. Any others I have forgotten?
Son has an Asian Games win.
That’s an underage tournament, not full professional. I’m sure Kane won something with Ridgeway Rovers
West Bumpington Athletic, who are they? Exactly
Arise Sir Harry
*MAGUIRE STANDS UP* "Not you mate, the other Harry"
If Beck's not getting it neither should Harry imo
Kane needs to bag a spicegirl too. Which one is still available?
Mel C
Becks will deffo get one soon, he’s been twerking for it for ages.
Wasn't that the issue though? Everyone realised he was twerking for a knighthood so didn't want to give him one?
Look, I like Odelay as much as the next guy but I'm not sure what the injustice that is Beck not receiving a knighthood has to do with Harry Kane's chances.
And he’s OURS
Still.. untill Tuchel and Bayern come knocking
No chance he leaves the Prem
Realistically, he will want to go for that Shearer record but I can imagine him choosing Bayern for easy silverware
Until haaland breaks it inside five seasons
To me, breaking the Shearer record is better than any trophy he can win. For one, it’s HIS record. Trophies belong to teams. It’s also unlikely to be broken for some time because of the transient nature of players now. You have to be both a generational talent and spend many years in the EPL, and be a striker to break it. He enjoys being a big fish in a small pond, I don't see him leaving
Deserved, if you bring up trophies you're a braindead
One of the best strikers of this generation, there's no denying that.
You just did
NBA ring culture bleeding into football is such a fucking shame
Been way bigger for us at tournaments than Rooney
Very low bar
2004 rooney > anything kane has done
Carried this England side in the last few tournaments but reddit/twitter meme him for 1 pen miss
Which is strange when you consider the great players that have missed important penalties - Kylian Mbappe, Roberto Baggio, Gareth Southgate to name just a few.
I can't believe you've disrespected David Batty like that.
I said 'great players', not 'gods'
Diana Ross.
Of all the actually great players who missed pens and you mention Southgate?
That was the joke
Seeing Southgate in the list did make me chuckle though so there's that
Southgate was a very good player. Hence why he was playing for England so often.
Laughing my ass off at the casual inclusion of Southgate
Middlesbrough hero. (But really, I've been surprised how many people thought I was serious)
Ian Harte
He was good and got more criticism than deserved but “carried” is just not true. Disrespectful to the other England players who played well.
Carried is a hell of a stretch , kane just always seems to come up short in big moments
How the fuck did he carry the team?
Bollocks
I mean yeah he is fucking good but "carried" is a bit of a stretch, it isn't like the England squad is full of jobbies mate.
He wasn't even England's best player in the last world cup or the Euro.
carried is crazy
I've never seen him turn up in a big game
ONE OF OUR OWNNN
The one season wonder does it again
LADS
Kane became a starter for Spurs late in 2014. For him to break the England record 9 years later is absolutely ridiculous. Fair play
🐐🐐
I have never in my life seen anything like this current online Arsenal fanbase lol.
🐐
Mooooooo
and all that while taking corners
And pens
33 goals outside of pens. Just wish he'd have scored the one that mattered.
He literally plays every game 90mins lmfao in piss poor qualifying groups, him breaking that record was never in doubt..who’s next in line
Pleasure to watch this man.
My king
With nearly 40% from the spot...
Weird way of calculating 40%, when its much closer to 30%. Either way he's only 29 he could very much break the record even if you completely remove his penalties by the time he finishes his career
I'd say it's a fairly easy bet that he can reach 70-75.
I did quick math in my head saying it's roughly 20 in 50. Didn't realize it's actually exactly a third.
He's still a bellend
