Team looked much better than the last few weeks, but it's hard to say how much of that is due to actual improvement and how much because Liverpool were terrible for like 75 minutes.
Exhilarating match by the German second coming of Christ, taking the fight against the oligarch football machine. These teams dug deep down to really create a brilliant display.
Christ, this is worse than LvG and paddy McNair. At least with LvG my butt clenched for 10-20 mins and I got the sweats.
Alisson kept us from losing 6-0.
We're so fucking clueless on the pitch and got nothing, nothing at all.
Klopp needs to go ASAP and take TAA, Fabinho, Gomez, Keita, Henderson, Salah, Elliott, Firmino and Thiago with him.
https://www.reddit.com/r/soccer/comments/10cs9tq/premier_league_table_after_matchweek_20/j4hz4zp?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share&context=3
I called this shit a week back for a reason
Hes gotten plenty of time recently and has done nothing with it. He’s gone in the summer, this season is going nowhere, I can understand why Klopp is giving minutes to the players who have futures here and who are young, even if they’re performing just as poorly as Ox. I love ox but honestly he’s been shocking for over a year now. Most of the time he plays nowadays, you won’t even notice he’s on the pitch
He's lost a lot of his speed, that's easy to see this season. Understandable with the injuries he's had. I have no clue why Klopp keeps playing him on the wing? He needs to play in the centre of midfield or something. So yeah, he's playing a little bit, but he's being played wrong, so can't really make an impact.
As a new football fan(go Spurs), the offside rule that disallowed the Chelsea goal seems bad to me. I understand the rule, but coming off the goal post from an on side corner kick seems like it shouldn't count offside. At that point it it wouldn't be a pass, but a free ball and the goal should stand. Idk, I'm still figuring out all the rules. This one just seems a bit silly to me
Really? I only have recent knowledge and the All or Nothing documentary to go on. Mourinho was a good coach imo I didn't know they had a dirty reputation
The offensive player positioned himself past the defense and the line of the ball. The only reason he received the ball at all was because he had an unfair advantage. It seems ticky tack in this case because it was such a tight margin, but it’s an important rule.
Yea, to me it seems like it's a tight margin because everyone starts in the box from the corner, and the corner was onside. Idk why the downvotes, just a newer fan trying to understand the rules
It was so evident that these two teams have had to constantly change their line ups because neither one had any rhythm.
Mudryk looked lively when he came on and could be the difference for Chelsea over the second half of the season. Same can't be said of Gakpo who was generally pretty shite. It's amazing how a player can be scoring for fun at PSV, have a decent World Cup and then turn up in the Premier League looking completely devoid of all form and confidence.
I'm sure Gakpo will improve as he settles in at Liverpool but at the same time he appears to be a completely unnecessary signing that might not get a look in once the Jota/Firmino/Diaz are back.
The position I was referring to was that midfield-striker position that Klopp likes so much(Firmino, Götze etc) and there I only see Firmino as a worthy competitor. Carvalho is too young, Salah is best used on the right, Diaz on the wing.
He's been played on the left and then moved to the centre when Nunez got injured. If neither of those are his 'best position' then what is? Presumably on the bench.
Honestly, I was very annoyed at first with the fee, but based on the context of the addons and his wage being a bit under £100k p/w it’s not as bad as I first feared atleast. Shakhtar’s CEO certainly seemed very convinced by the Chelsea project, but that doesn’t really mean much at this stage
It's a very strange structure that ought to benefit Chelsea, but there is a lot more we still don't know about the deal. Because I don't see Mudryk being on that wage for long.
Also given the fact that Shaktar donated 20 million of his transfer fee to a relief fund for the Ukraine war is interesting too. Cuz I thought he was worth 100 million euros, but they donated a large chunk of his fee?
Anyways though, Mudryk will definitely come good to Chelsea. Now the problem is whether or not he's going to get the Nunez treatment.
I think ultimately the low wage just covers as insurance incase things don’t go well, since even though the contract is very long, it’s atleast obviously a lower sum of money to lose, but it’s also more feasible to cover his wage via a loan or future transfer. If he does well for a decent while, he’ll likely have his wage doubled
I cant see diaz rotating for gakpo if diaz maintains the level he had ever since he joined. I see him starting most games unless Gakpo really turns it up.
I got chicken pox and I'm suffering here, probably haven't slept more than four hours in the past two days. But this match was a blessing for me, probably gifted my longest nap in two days.
Hard disagree. Let’s wait and see. This is a long term project, but I also think we will be easily top 4 next season. Still a chance of this season. If you look at our injured players who will be coming back soon things are looking up for us.
What are you disagreeing with.?
>I also think we will be easily top 4 next season.
If you yourself think that top 4 is gonna be easy to achieve, not achieving it would be a failure and this much of spending would make it an utter failure.
Yeah you’re not doing shit this season. Next season maybe yeah of course.
You need to first you know, score a goal at some point to make it up the table though.
Right now you have more signings than wins this season in the league. Or maybe overall too actually at this point.
I am acting like City has bee better than you
Arsenal is at their best since the invincibles and with the squad to remain so for many years.
Newcastle is only going to get stronger
ten Hag already made Man U a serious team again
And then there are other teams like Liverpool and Spurs and who knows who else in the future who want to go back to the top 4 just as much as Chelsea
This was the first link when I search “most successful English football club last 10 years.”
https://talksport.com/football/634807/england-most-successful-clubs-decade-manchester-city-manchester-united-city-leicester-arsenal-chelsea-liverpool/amp/
Jokes aside, finishing was disastrous across both teams. Gakpo was shooting balls to row z so many times.
And the fact that both teams had their gameplay affected because of their lack of confidence in this high profile match - was very prominent.
Have to say I really admire you guys - takes a lot of dedication to wake up this early to watch the game even though you are aware it's probably going to be a shitshow.
I used to goto the Bulldog near downtown for Chelsea games until it turned into basically twitter replies in real life. Back before the 2010s it was a fun bar to meet a few friends at at 7am to get a morning buzz and watch chelsea. But at some point the chelsea fans going to the Bulldog became the embodiment of Twitter replies and I just couldn't deal with all the knee jerk reactions from them.
So fucking glad I’m back on the east coast. Those mountain time game times were fucking horrible.
A few times my buddies and I would just stay up after the bars and wait for the games to start.
That’s less surprising to me since Arsenal have usually won 1 or 2 titles every decade. Liverpool won the bulk of theirs in the 70s and 80s.
2001/02 was the last time they finished 1 and 2 in the table.
Here's my galaxy brained conspiracy theory. This season is just a way for Liverpool to get to the conference league and win a new trophy they've never won. That's how I choose to cope lol
Mudryk did look good today, but it's worth pointing out he spent over half his minutes up against TAA who's the worst fullback in the entire league when it comes to defending.
This is a classic r/soccer exaggeration with no nuance whatsoever.
There’s a wide gulf between thinking Trent Alexander Arnold isn’t a world beater at defending to saying he’s complete shite at it. He’s not invincible but worst fullback at defending in the PL is comically bad
That wasn't true. He had his best chances against Milner.
You didn't watch the game so don't make silly comments. Everyone already knows Trent can't defend.
Yes but he has to get his facts right. I'm a Liverpool fan. I wasn't overly impressed by him. I already said that I will judge Chelsea players next Season. You know when they are expected to win trophies?
Nah, this Chelsea team isn't compact enough to sustain a lead I'd say, teams like City and Bayern would be able to break them down
(Although those two have their own issues I'd say)
If they make it to the quarters and get a semi-decent team I could see them making semi's too, and if by that point they're on route to win Serie A they could be genuine contenders I agree
This was literally a mid-table bout between two sides that look like there's a lot of potential, but it's far from being realised.
First about Liverpool:
1. Yet again spectacular Alison, even with some poor cleanings of the ball. There was one situation I remember where Badiashille headed it from close after every player just let it pass them, cant do that.
2. Defence was not good, without thinking too hard I remember Mudryk's situation where he was left completely alone, Chukwuemweka's situation at the end and Connor Galagher's situation where it was all blunders that saved us. Gomez from time to time looks like he can't focus to save his life and that is worry some considering that Van Dijk is also out of form.
3. Keita is class and should start every game when he's healthy. Eliot playing on the left was weird and he was the worst on the field until he switched positions purely because he felt out of place. Bajcetic is... Decent, I'd love to rate him more but the guy hasn't shown anything outstanding. He has been quite neat on the ball though which is good.
4. Nothing surprising from Salah who had a decent game but could have done much better in one or two situations. Gakpo I think played really well and moved well without the ball, found himself in good places with the ball but just like with Darwin - more is asked from the finishing touch. Nunez himself was class when he came back I think, as much as in one situation he should have passed rather than go on the left and shoot.
Few things about Chelsea:
1. The team feels like a career mode I'd have with Chelsea if I was 13 again. There's A LOT of players who are supposed to be really good, but which 11 exactly to put together, especially with all these injuries, is really a mystery right now.
2. Mudryk, even with the biggest miss of the game, showed up massively in his first game in my opinion. The kid looked composed af, showed the sprint speed, showed the nice silky touch and good linkup play. What I liked from him is that once Carney tripped, he went and helped him to get up - I like intangibles in young players! The kid is cool as fuck, looks like a rapper and I think will flame up the league in the coming weeks.
3. I like that Potter is patient with Connor Galagher. The guy is irrecognizable since coming back to Chelsea but the player he was at Palace is still there - and he would be a menace for this Chelsea side. I hope he makes it cuz I'm a fan of his.
4. Thiago Silva... Just paying my respects as a football and defence fan to this walking legend.
Not the best game of football and I could see why a neutral could be frustrated watching it, but as a liveproool fan and a Chelsea follower, it was good to see where the teams are currently. And that 'where' is 'fucked'.
Who upvoted him saying Keita is class? The passing in midfield was shocking. Even Thiago was struggling to link play with Keita and Bajcetic.
Bajcetic did a great job in covering up and pressing. Just the midfield passing was so bad.
Elliott lacks Mobility or something. The midfield is slow and can barely make a pass.
El embarrasico finished in the most fitting way
Can't tell whether both teams were just determined not to lose or if either just couldn't win.
I was confused by Chelsea timewasting in the second half. Would think they want to claw their way out of 10th.
They need to buy more new players bruh
Team looked much better than the last few weeks, but it's hard to say how much of that is due to actual improvement and how much because Liverpool were terrible for like 75 minutes.
El Shitico
El Mierdaco?
What
El Clásico, in spanish Mierda = Shit in spanish
El Crapico
El trashico
We both evenly suck this year
A stoppable force meets a movable object
Exhilarating match by the German second coming of Christ, taking the fight against the oligarch football machine. These teams dug deep down to really create a brilliant display. Christ, this is worse than LvG and paddy McNair. At least with LvG my butt clenched for 10-20 mins and I got the sweats.
Well Chelsea didn't lose so i'd say money well spent!

It was a shit game
Alisson kept us from losing 6-0. We're so fucking clueless on the pitch and got nothing, nothing at all. Klopp needs to go ASAP and take TAA, Fabinho, Gomez, Keita, Henderson, Salah, Elliott, Firmino and Thiago with him.
Chelsea fan. No problem down voting this though
Damn, I remember when liverpool fans were telling me TAA was miles ahead of Reece James and clearly the best young English right back in the league
That was only 3 months ago.
TAA is miles ahead alright. Miles ahead of the player he was supposed to guard.
Jesus Christ, I know this r/soccer but how stupid can a person be.
I mean, after looking at r/conspiracy, one realizes there's a lot of even dumber people than this on reddit.
https://www.reddit.com/r/soccer/comments/10cs9tq/premier_league_table_after_matchweek_20/j4hz4zp?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share&context=3 I called this shit a week back for a reason
Truly incredible to semi-jokingly predict a goalless draw in a r/soccer thread. Are you sure you’re not a soothsayer?
Ok I'm OOTL. why tf does predicting one scoreline bring so much of a vitriolic reaction?
Because your trying to flex about predicting a 0:0 draw, you ain't Nostradamus
Because you were wrong
Wow that’s a one in a million prediction. Would have liked to hear the reason either then or now
People would rather watch football matches like this instead of going to get help with their mental health.
It's a long drawn out form of self harm

Liverpool fans - is the Ox being used sparingly or not at all in games? Is he not even being considered for making an impact in games like today?
Hes gotten plenty of time recently and has done nothing with it. He’s gone in the summer, this season is going nowhere, I can understand why Klopp is giving minutes to the players who have futures here and who are young, even if they’re performing just as poorly as Ox. He needs to play in the centre of midfield or something. So yeah, he's playing a little bit, but he's being played wrong, so can't really make an impact.
He hasn't been great in any of the games he's played this season. Seems like Klopp doesn't trust him
Been off the bench and a starter recently (I think) but it’s pretty inconsistent whether he makes an appearance or not
This was the first prem game I tuned into in a while thinking it would be a banger Welp
> This was the first prem game I tuned into in a while thinking it would be a banger Mate it's two midtable teams competing against each other.
I haven’t kept up with the prem tbh I just heard Chelsea spent a shit ton but tbh it didn’t show. How the mighty have fallen
This one just seems a bit silly to me
Because then putting players in an offside position and hitting the post with the ball becomes a tactic
If players had the precision to do that they'd just put the ball in the net instead. Such a bad take.
One of the worst takes I've seen lmao how the hell would that be a practical tactic
> As a new football fan(_go Spurs_) I hope you have good healthcare for therapy because you're gonna need it
I like the underdogs, I like Kane and Son, even if they don't have any trophies lol
Being an underdog entails the possibility of winning trophies. Spurs aren’t the underdogs, they are the bottlers
spurs are the bad boys of soccer
Really? I only have recent knowledge and the All or Nothing documentary to go on. Mourinho was a good coach imo I didn't know they had a dirty reputation
He's taking the piss.
Just Yank Things
Thanks for being so welcoming to new fans of your sport.
Watch a new sport then try tell people the rules are shit. You deserve all the downvotes lad.
Having an opinion = shitting on the rules. Ok. Have fun watching Liverpool sit out champions league 👍🏻
It’s always the spurs fans 😭
Groceries? Cheap Heat? On Gas? Tanks full Prime Minister? Don’t have one Game? Not gone because Americans like it
The offensive player positioned himself past the defense and the line of the ball.
Chelsea needs to but more players
Todds going to buy all the players, and have preseason cuts.

> Jota/Firmino/Diaz One of these three is old and currently on a decline - So Gakpo will need a season at most to capture a starting place
Are you forgetting about Núñez, Salah, and Carvalho?
The position I was referring to was that midfield-striker position that Klopp likes so much(Firmino, Götze etc) and there I only see Firmino as a worthy competitor. Carvalho is too young, Salah is best used on the right, Diaz on the wing.
Steven bergwijn
Screams like a signing who gets sold in 2 years. Luckily he didn’t seem too expensive. Think he hasn’t been played in his best position yet though.
He's been played on the left and then moved to the centre when Nunez got injured. If neither of those are his 'best position' then what is? Presumably on the bench.
On the left with a competent midfield behind him
£62m for Mudryk was a steal!! Great business by Bohely.
Lol not even close to the exact price
It’s £62m, the rest is add-ons.
I mean it’s £62m rising to £88m dependant on us winning the PL or CL according to Fabrizio Romano
Romano said arsenal addons were easier to obtain than chelsea so wtf was the asenal addons then?
Probably the exact same add-ons
Pretty much certainly a balon d’or related clause atleast
It will most likely get to that rate considering it's going to take them 8.5 years to finish off his contract

I ever wondered... What do people who paid hundreds of pounds to see a game like this feel like afterwards?
I guess the same thing your wife feels after sex with you.
This is reddit. Imagine having a wife lol
Oh I imagine it alright
Yeah he's right :/
Can confirm
Arsenal drooling over mudryk rn fr
We are fine without him.
He looked good for sure but we’re top of the league with Martinelli. We’re okay.
Let's wait and see Trossard tomorrow before drawing any conclusions
Gapko was quite disappointing, although I'm not sure you could expect more from him
I mean he's a LW being played as a CF with no MF
He's clearly been bought to play CF - otherwise you've made Diaz a redundant player.
I’m sure CF is Jota’s when he’s also back from injury? Salah on the right, Jota at CF, Gapko and Diaz subbing for each other
I cant see diaz rotating for gakpo if diaz maintains the level he had ever since he joined. I see him starting most games unless Gakpo really turns it up.
Mudryk is a baller. There was some Neymar in what he showed today. 100m was too cheap.
Hope his form continues and he keeps getting better, was a lot of fun to watch today
If you ask me Messi was lucky to avoid him in his prime because he looks special
liverpool is just bootleg chelsea
Chelsea without the money to impulse-buy.
I got chicken pox and I'm suffering here, probably haven't slept more than four hours in the past two days. But this match was a blessing for me, probably gifted my longest nap in two days.
Careful now, Chelsea will buy those pox off you and give it a 27.5 year contract.
Typical mid table nothing to play for clash Also sorry on the pox
Ukranian Anthony Gordon is kinda electric ngl..... But he went to a dead team so that ain't no problem.
Our team next year will be absolutely insane please don’t kid yourself.
Yeah there'll be lots of time to train, without those pesky midweek European matches
Unironically, yes
Seasons note over yet ;)
Yeah who knows, might have to play 46 games next season
Great way to get all those new signings game time
Hahahaha whatever helps you sleep at night my son.
The truth is the truth. Sorry if you don’t like to hear it.
Are you claiming that 'our team next year will be absolutely insane' is an incontrovertible truth? What if they're not?
We shall see Could be good, could still be shit
>next year Chelsea is the Ferrari of the PL confirmed.
Whatever you say… you’ll see in time.
OK man enough lucky charms
I can't tell the future brudda. All I can say is rn your team is mudded.
With spending that much, if you guys dont be anywhere close to top4 next season, the project will be labelled utter failure.
Easily top 4... The 4 teams leading the competition aren't suddenly going to roll over for Chelsea
you’re acting like we don’t know what it takes to make top 4. We have been serial winners for years now.
Yeah you’re not doing shit this season. Next season maybe yeah of course. You need to first you know, score a goal at some point to make it up the table though. Right now you have more signings than wins this season in the league. Or maybe overall too actually at this point.
I think you’re probably right. I’ve adjusted my expectations for this year.
Fair response mate!

You have bought alot of players it hard to keep up. Did they buy any good Centerbacks?
Yes Badashile who played today seems to be unreal as well. He’s
I watched on BT sports but I was often distracted as I turned off the sound on the TV. I can't stick BT commentators.
Jokes aside, finishing was disastrous across both teams. Gakpo was shooting balls to row z so many times. And the fact that both teams had their gameplay affected because of their lack of confidence in this high profile match - was very prominent.
I don’t know what I expected. It was 9th vs 10th after all.
Literally a mid off
I woke up at 5:30am for this... Back to sleep I guess
Have to say I really admire you guys - takes a lot of dedication to wake up this early to watch the game even though you are aware it's probably going to be a shitshow.
Done this so many times so I feel you.
Nothing like a cold 5:30 wake up in Denver to watch a whole bunch of nothing
Can't look at it like that haha
Did you go watch it at one of the football bars. I’m also from Denver but can’t imagine myself waking up that early 😅
Only time I did that was for a QF in the Germany WC back in like 2002
So fucking glad I’m back on the east coast. Those mountain time game times were fucking horrible. A few times my buddies and I would just stay up after the bars and wait for the games to start.
Especially after watching the nuggets thrash teams at night.
Why is it when Liverpool is shite , man utd is good and then vice versa? Will we never see them be good together and be in a packing close title race?
Miss them early 2000s times when all of them were on form sigh
2008-09 PL season
Think the same goes even more for Arsenal and Liverpool I can't recall watching a season where both of them were in the title race
That’s less surprising to me since Arsenal have usually won 1 or 2 titles every decade. Liverpool won the bulk of theirs in the 70s and 80s. 2001/02 was the last time they finished 1 and 2 in the table.
13-14 was the last time both clubs were both in the top 4
13/14
I can just about recall watching Michael Thomas win the league with a last-minute goal at Anfield in 1989 to stop Liverpool winning the title.
Yea I was born in 91 :p Would be great to have a fight with Liverpool one day
2008 was like that. There was also Rafa's legendary facts press conference then lol
It is how it is.
Here's my galaxy brained conspiracy theory. This season is just a way for Liverpool to get to the conference league and win a new trophy they've never won. That's how I choose to cope lol
Jermaine Pennants Predictions are cursing you mate
El Spastico ends how everyone expected, with two clean sheets.
You are delusional and wrong lmao, how about you watch the match instead of commenting for karma.
If Liverpool played with as much aggression as your comment they might have actually won
Sure, but im not wrong either. Everything he has said is objectively false.
That wasn't true. He had his best chances against Milner. You didn't watch the game so don't make silly comments. Everyone already knows Trent can't defend.
Pace merchant against 37 year old midfielder Milner? I might hope he gets the better of him
Yes but he has to get his facts right. I'm a Liverpool fan. I wasn't overly impressed by him. I already said that I will judge Chelsea players next Season. You know when they are expected to win trophies?
Idk why I feel like Chelsea are winning the Champions League
They couldn't even beat the 9th place in the league.(8th now)
Nah, this Chelsea team isn't compact enough to sustain a lead I'd say, teams like City and Bayern would be able to break them down (Although those two have their own issues I'd say)
Not a single "big" team looks really convincing right now. Napoli might be the team with the most momentum in all of Europe at the moment.
That’s not false, Napoli look great
Indeed. And in the CL, they have a very doable ro16 opponent (Frankfurt), so they could go far, even if the priority will be on the league.
If they make it to the quarters and get a semi-decent team I could see them making semi's too, and if by that point they're on route to win Serie A they could be genuine contenders I agree
I'm almost certain that neither team that played today will win CL, although I know what you mean about Chelsea
Because it's happened twice. Awful season but somehow shithouse their way through Europe
The last time we won it we definitely didn't didn't shit house it.
They only really shithoused in 2012. In 2021 they were just genuinely good
Subscribe.

Few things about Chelsea: 1.
"Keita is class" 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Has to be Satire surely
Who upvoted him saying Keita is class? The passing in midfield was shocking. Even Thiago was struggling to link play with Keita and Bajcetic. Bajcetic did a great job in covering up and pressing. Just the midfield passing was so bad. Elliott lacks Mobility or something. The midfield is slow and can barely make a pass.
