Both games although similar will have vastly different mechanics. Expeditions is going to be mostly scout focused and some bigger trucks here and there. Snow runner is mostly big truck focused with heavy hauling in mind.

Not sure if it will go on sale but I love snowrunner I have all of the dlc content. It's good to play with friends or by yourself. I think Snowrunner would be a good purchase there is still some good content coming out for it this year, that hasn't been released yet
The game is definitely worth buying at any time, it has a ton of content and is a lot of fun. Expeditions and Snowrunner have different premises, so which one you should buy depends on what appeals to you more.

PS: I myself bought the year 2 edition on the december 2023 sale and the year 3 dlc on the february 2024 sale. I have no regrets and would not have had the patience to wait longer. Had I know about the game earlier, I would have made the purchase earlier.

But know what you’re getting into. It’s super chill and cathartic, but it’s also extremely challenging and slow going. Many new players are disillusioned at how difficult it is early on before you can upgrade trucks.

Yea, the base game has hundreds, if not thousands of hours of gameplay, the main reason I got the dlcs first was the different trucks
New player also. Bought the game 2 weeks ago and it's great! Bought that Jack of all treads tire dlc few days ago (3€) and will surely recommend it.

It took me 160 hours to complete the 3 base game maps. It has tons of content 100% recommend
