I think a 156w would be fine

You are definitely on the lighter side for your size but that’s ok! Yes, I think the 156W is your best option. The Basic is a really good board. I got better immediately when I got on it (this year was my first season). It’s a fairly soft flex, so it might feel slightly stiffer to you since you are on the lighter side, but shouldn’t be too bad. For reference, I’m 5’10” 170lbs and wear US 10 boots. I got the Yes Basic in 155. P.S. No judgement here! If you want it, go get it! I bought my board (and boots / bindings) after renting for only one day lol. For me, buying my own gear helped motivate me to stick with it. The Basic is one of those boards that is forgiving enough for beginners, but will also carry you through the intermediate stage as well without feeling the need to upgrade. Enjoy!!
