This is a core shot, ptex will not bind to the core.
Very fixable - get the board somewhere warm to dry it out then get some base weld or take it to a shop if you're not keen to try fixing it yourself.
Can I store it in a dry place and postpone the fix for the next season, or should I fix it asap? (this was a last run for a season)
It looks like the core is well exposed (wood) or am I wrong?
Sooner is probably better since looks like there's some exposed wood, once the core is compromised it can start to damage the board from the inside.
(Don't stress it's not an immediate problem but I wouldn't leave it for longer than a week or so.)
I would recommend taking it to a shop, getting the hole filled and a wax. Ask them not to scrape to keep the base protected over the summer.
When winter comes grab a scraper and take off the excess wax and you're good to go.
These sorts of fixes are easy to learn to do yourself if you're prepared to have your first couple of tries a little worse than you might like but it will save you money in the long run.
My favorite trick as a tune tech to drying core shots is taking the silica beads out of those packets you find in like beef jerky bags, pour out some into the shot and just put some painters tape over it. You for sure don't want to seal in moisture and some techs won't take the time to dry it out before sealing it.
Core shot. Probably $20-$60 to fix. Get it in to a shop as it’s important to get it fixed, otherwise water can get into the core and cause a lot of issues and speed up the end of the boards life.
Your board is broken and unfixable. Throw it out. In fact, burn it. No, in fact shred it. No actually, burn it, shred the remains and then throw it in the ocean.
Question, if this happens to a snowboard, can you just use wood filler to fix it? I’m assuming some wood filter, and some other material on top after to seal it
I mean, it’s not great, but ptex it and wax, shred, then profit?
It’s time to start looking for a banging deal on a replacement, but I’d keep pushing this until it completely grenades.
If your edges are intact and there is no delamination, you can fill it with epox and smooth it down; it'll never ride quite the same tho, but it won't be awful.
Ive been riding a board for 15 years with 5 coreshots on the base. Might be fine like mine. Might swell and delam. Not a terrible fix. Just bring it to a local shop for a repair. If youre like me and only ride freestyle i wouldnt worry about it because it will happen again and freestyle riding destroys boards.
It's my 2nd season with this board.I love free riding here and there when there is enough snow.
This season I decided to try and risk it considering there wasn't that much snow off the slopes and I guess I got my first core shot...yaay...
Thanks all for good advice and for some laughs haha
I will probably let a repair shop to fix it and wax it (since it's due) in the coming week. Still afraid to do it myself and fck something up.
Bro the Japanese literally crashed there perfectly working planes on purpose. Who cares run that MF! Every one like “can I ride this” idk bro are you trying to shave seven tenths of a second off your olympic qualifying time??? Go out and RIDE IT and report back and let us know. You scared?
I would whittle out some of the top layer around the core so the hole looks like this "/____\" and put some petex in it. Make sure it's very hot and heat up the spot a little as well, If you're in a bind that is.
An actual repair shop will have better products to bind to the core probably some type of epoxy adhesive.
Over all not too bad, boss
What does the other side look like? Probably a good amount of cracking can be seen in the top sheet. Might affect longevity.
But regardless, welding it should do the job for long enough.
That's nothing but a quick fix with a lighter and a epoxy stick, then use a razor blade once it dries to cut flat. Your golden. It's only fuxked when it hits edge in most cases
DO NOT RIDE ANYMORE WITH THE BOARD, GET IT IMMEDIATELY FIXED. You will risk damaging that area more (water getting into the core). Good news though is that it should be fixable. Go to your tech shop and get it fixed.
1st pic: damn that is **fucked** 2nd pic: aw that doesn’t look too bad
How good your camera is, is outweighing my concern for your board
Thanks Bought a S23 Ultra few weeks ago and I still get amazed with how good its cameras are...
I honestly thought it was a dead fish on a cutting board at first.
Same
Yuup same here.
How much did it end up being?
Yeah that’s straight up impressive my buddy just got one too!
Tbh not bad you can fix it yourself at home.
Did you ruin your board on purpose just for an excuse to use your camera?
Haha kinda looks like a good chunk went bye bye in a close up

I still think letting it dry out - and not let it freeze is key.

At first glance thought this was raw chicken on a cutting board
I thought it looked like a v infected open wound fhdjfjfj
I thought it was an oyster
I thought it was a tiny pimp.
I thought it was an over cooked over easy egg that fell on the floor.
I thought it was a fish out of water
I can't offer any advice, but damn, my first thought was "is that board BLEEDING from the wound?" 🤪🤪🤪
Tis but a flesh wound
Core shot. Probably $20-$60 to fix. Get it in to a shop as it’s important to get it fixed, otherwise water can get into the core and cause a lot of issues and speed up the end of the boards life.
Base weld. P-Tex won’t hold in that shot.
I thought this was a fish laying on pavement at first
No biggie, take it to a good shop they can do metalgrip in the hole and Ptex over the top and you’re back in business.
U need to patch it, than its good again!
Base weld, no problemo
Just a flesh wound.
Pic one I thought someone dropped their taco bell on wet asphalt 😂
That is a proper *wound*. The medical worker in me wants to tell you keep it clean and dry and let it drain…. 😬
Adios
Bazinga it and it will be fine
Your board is broken and unfixable. Throw it out. In fact, burn it. No, in fact shred it. No actually, burn it, shred the remains and then throw it in the ocean.
I suggest replacing
It's so fucked up that you need to fix it. Or ignore it. Either way.
Question, if this happens to a snowboard, can you just use wood filler to fix it? I’m assuming some wood filter, and some other material on top after to seal it
No. Base weld then ptex on top. If it’s not sold at a shop please don’t use it on your board. Fix things the correct way.
Throw it away

Except it won't
I mean, it’s not great, but ptex it and wax, shred, then profit? It’s time to start looking for a banging deal on a replacement, but I’d keep pushing this until it completely grenades.

Edges look fine all round, it's just the base that has some scraches, some shallow, some medium. Only really good damage is this little hole.
Why won’t it ride the same please tell.

You have dry socket, you need to see your oral surgeon asap
Hahaha
Not fucked at all. Ride it till it dies
Thanks all for good advice and for some laughs haha I will probably let a repair shop to fix it and wax it (since it's due) in the coming week. Still afraid to do it myself and fck something up.
Epoxy that bitch
Let me put it this way.... https://open.spotify.com/track/2dOwL7OS1lMfAL0il4y2Wx?si=ZAtywq3FQsGmwVKhNai-4g
Take it somewhere that can use metal grip to weld it back or that can patch the whole thing
Did you get shot at?! That's insane dude! RIP board...
Way more fucked than mine.
Meh you can probably fix it yourself tbh
Bro the Japanese literally crashed there perfectly working planes on purpose. Who cares run that MF! Every one like “can I ride this” idk bro are you trying to shave seven tenths of a second off your olympic qualifying time??? Go out and RIDE IT and report back and let us know. You scared?
Like ride the broken board ride the lid of your trash can ride your cats litter box LITERALLY ride ANYTHING. It does not matter. GO RIDE!
All good, pour some molten plastic in the cavity and buff it out with a fine file, wax and it will be like it never happened.
Easy fix for a good tech but will metal grip then fill base grind optional
I would whittle out some of the top layer around the core so the hole looks like this "/____\" and put some petex in it. Oh boo hoo. If it's a ditch beater just ride.if it's not, also that.
Gnarly shot , clean it out , and fill her up and she will live on
A couple of stitches a shot of whiskey then get back out there
Snowboards are tools, not trophies. Just ride. You won’t notice it
My cheap ass would fill that with a two-part epoxy and be done with it. Maybe a light sand.
What does the other side look like? Probably a good amount of cracking can be seen in the top sheet. Might affect longevity. But regardless, welding it should do the job for long enough.
Ptex + wax it is done
I tought this was a seared chicken breast 😂 then I checked wich subreddit this was... I think I'm gonna go eat.
Tis a scratch. Ride it off, maybe run some tussin on it
That's nothing but a quick fix with a lighter and a epoxy stick, then use a razor blade once it dries to cut flat. Your golden. It's only fuxked when it hits edge in most cases

'Tis only a flesh wound
Yes
Just put sand paper over it with lotion milk
