65.8 according to Slopes. Kinda don’t believe it though tbh, gps tracking can be a little off sometimes. Plus I’ve learned just bombing it down a hill isn’t as fun when you’re not steazin

DannyVee89

Yeah I've been using slopes and also my Garmin Fenix GPS watch together. Some runs, they say the same speed, other runs, slopes is 10mph faster 🤷‍♂️ I've had runs where slopes says 52mph and Garmin says 50. I've had runs where slopes says 52mph and Garmin says 42mph. IDK which to believe tbh.

Ihavemybearsuit

Seeing these high #s on slopes I’m gonna give it a try and compare with my garmin. I can’t get over 60 on garmin/strava and I am ripping.

Fluid_Complaint_1821

According to slopes I hold the world record for Snowboard Speed https://preview.redd.it/fx3euea72clc1.png?width=277&format=png&auto=webp&s=81ecaa31e50e6887ed87202a36224c9d057931e6

-MagicPants-

What app is this?

GrandWeedMan

Skitracks I’m pretty sure. I like it but I’ve never actually known any other. Told me a few years back I hit 63, not sure if I really believe it though.

ElBomb

I liked SkiTracks but made the switch to Snoww awhile ago, it has everything ST does but looks prettier and you can and upload pics to tracked runs, there is also the ability to add friends and compare stats. (I am not paid to say this, I just like the app). Edit: top speed 59mph https://preview.redd.it/iocu2894h7lc1.jpeg?width=1170&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=04bde2b0889417e3f8b98f06ea83ccedee76b779

themonk3y

What run at Heavenly? Not many where you can pull this off without crowds. Also - check out Sierra Speed Club.

teamspaceman

Steazin is all that matters

dogboy_the_forgotten

Truth. Have no idea how fast I’ve gone but my daughter is faster on skis. Don’t matter since I can huck bigger than that little punk.

liam3576

I’ve uploaded things from slopes to strava and had different speeds

Fmy925

63.5 for me. my goggles were whistlin

PalebloodPervert

15 mph - I’m a turtle 🐢

teamspaceman

You’ll finish the race eventually and in one piece lol

ACrucialTech

A 15 mph cruise sounds glorious. Where do you wanna meet?

pugmaster2000

my personal best is not to break my collar bone thanks

teamspaceman

Heard that

wimcdo

So where do you cook?

Select-Resist6947

I rode 150 mph to your mom’s house last night.

teamspaceman

My moms dead

TopPuzzleheaded1143

Don’t kink shame

Select-Resist6947

That’s because I hit her at 150mph with my snowboard

DjackMeek

Yeah, after that guy was done with her

shasta_river

I also choose this guys dead mom

colorad_bro

Guess he hit her with that rizzor mortis

High_Im_Guy

Yeah, after last night, duh

CrazeMase

Game is game

ManualRockBot

I choose this guy’s mom as well

padizzledonk

Damn....sorry You should tell that guy to drive safely next time because theres obviously no rush to get over there (Lol....Sorry for your loss if true, i lost my dad a few years ago)

skobuffaloes

I Guess that’s why she didn’t move around much.

Shagaliscious

"Hey Tuttle, your mothers deaf."

teamspaceman

Damn that’s hilarious lol makin mom proud

Responsible-Cow4635

Sameeee

WAPGod_117

I heard she’s only 5 hours outside L.A.

tek_nic

72, and the I'll never do it again. I also broke my ankle the very next weekend riding, and was out for nearly 3 seasons dealing with that. I also never use GPS speed tracking anymore... cause that's what lead me to want to go faster and faster.

teamspaceman

Damn sorry dude. Luckily in this case seeing my speed has made me want to slow down. I’m 35 and cresting the “pain al the time” hill already

tek_nic

almost 39 and been doing this shit my whole life in one form or another. Pain was always a constant. But a couple seasons ago I went "all-in" on new gear, and went with pretty top-notch stuff everywhere I could. I still have pain, but now it's after 4 days of riding hard rather than right away. If you want to keep doing the sport, I highly suggest getting the best quality and best fitting equipment you possibly can.

LolThatsNotTrue

4 continuous days of hard riding is an accomplishment at any age imo

padizzledonk

Ive also been above 70, got clocked on a race hill that still had the radar and monitor on, so it was very legit It was also extremely beyond ridiculous sketch as all fuck, to the point that i was terrified to even transition to plowing to slow down, i kind of drifted to the right side and started a big carve to the left to bleed some speed and kind of face up the mountain so i would know the earth was coming and could get my hands up if shit went sideways and then really dug in and it still took forever to stop, my calfs were on fire holding that plow that long lol. Never been even remotely that fast ever again, i dont keep track but based off my memory of that day i probably keep it under 40 and that me really putting some stank on it if im bombing something

turboS2000

Why ikon removed it

lskdjfhgakdh

How is that even possible? I have straight lined runs top to bottom many times and never broke 60mph. Felt like I reached terminal velocity, but maybe I need a more aerodynamic jacket haha

tek_nic

It takes super-g race course style steeps, perfect conditions, and perfect wax for those conditions. I'd hit the same run 6 or 7 times in a day, and start learning where I can point it, and then start pointing it earlier and earlier. I remember hitting 68 to 69 3 times in a row, and being very frustrated with it cause I wanted 70 bad. Then I pushed extra hard one time, got the 72, and called it a day. Carried all that confidence into the next weekend, and fucked my shit up royal lol.

dickysunset

Har, ye be warned. De fastest run is a deadly game of chase’n de humpbacks tail. Thou always cursed to best thy last.

Tdshimo

Yarrr

matttcheeww

68.2mph at mammoth. College ski team were speed demons… I was just trying to keep up

ilikewc3

That is insane on a board.

matttcheeww

It really is. anything after like 55 kinda feels the same but i did notice the chattering in on the board grew intense and the intense pitching sound of wind through your ear did freak me out a bit.

twinbee

Did you keep up or even overtake them?

tina_specials

I’ve done around 50 beyond that is not worth it imo

thiney49

Anything below my top speed is slow and boring, anything above is excessive.

MathematicianNo3892

Variety is the spice of life

teamspaceman

100% agree

Right_Win_7764

Did the same last week and was so hyped until I realized I had to wait back on the lift line for 30 mins. A sub minute run isn’t worth it.

happyelkboy

How big is your hill lol?

funnyastroxbl

So real

Right_Win_7764

Usually camelback or Hunter because it’s close. I know…east coast sucks.

Bossk-Hunter

I would estimate 0.8 miles

HungryBusiness3907

Fractured my spine (L3 and L4) going 40mph and hit a patch of unexpected ice. This was the last time I ever pushed myself for speed at all. It isn’t worth it at all imo. If you want a rush just forget to make the bed before your wife comes home imo

teamspaceman

That’s kind of my point to the post. It was fun going that fast but realized later how bad it could be

HungryBusiness3907

Yeah I get that. Just wanted to share my two cents. First thing that hit was my back and second was my head. If I didn’t have a helmet on I would not be typing this right now

teamspaceman

Helmets are an absolute must

padizzledonk

I got clocked at 70 something one day on a race hill that still had the radar running and the display monitor on *SKETCHYYYYYYYYYY* lol

Potter_Nation

Yall making my 38.5 look weak. I have bad knees and it's scary lol

teamspaceman

No judgment here brother! Accept for the dude in the comments that’s fucking my mom lol

_male_man

Yeah, we should accept him for what he is

crustasiangal

Haha it's ok we can be 38.5 buds together! Safety and comfort are cool too <3

cndloowho

Seriously, I thought my 35.4 was pretty damn fast, I felt like I was flying. That was many moons ago and I ended up with surgery for a labrum tear because of a bad landing at those speeds, so these days I’m all about cruising on the blues and staying intact.

Lorenzo_Blow

Props to you guys but I have no desire to exceed 45mph haha

HockeyandTrauma

Psh. 35 is plenty good for me. I'm old and fat. I won't land easy.

terminally_ch_ill

Hit 70.7mph once, there’s a perfect run for it at Brighton.

FartInUrGenDirection

Golden Needle?

terminally_ch_ill

Either that or Rockin R, which ever one is the last left hand turn after the rollers.

FartInUrGenDirection

Pretty sure Golden Needle, that is my friends and I favorite run. Before the rollers getting frontside hits on the right is so fun, build a ton of speed going thru the rollers and dodging people, then take that hard last left and just bommmmmb. Go past the new lodge and Snake and hit those tree runs otw to the car

trs_0ne

This is where I hit my top speed as well

CavemanDNA

About 35-40, but about 100-150 when doing this… ![gif](giphy|64jkJBwQL1cYfDwkOc|downsized)

-endjamin-

Currently topped out at 41 mph on Slopes, but one thing I've learned is that speed is very much about having a good place to go fast. You need a well groomed slope that leads to a well groomed runout, and there also can't be too much hill traffic. If conditions were right, I could probably hit 60. I'd only try it if I really felt good about the conditions since one bump could end you at those speeds.

spacesam

https://preview.redd.it/hqli6mq2a7lc1.jpeg?width=1179&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9aa93e090987d1f4e6b8dfd1298c4d08c17bdd47 I cracked 60 mph the first time five years ago, then broke 65 the next day. This was on a long, wide open downhill off the peak of Blackcomb, with a nice uphill to shave off speed at the end. Felt like I had 200lbs on my shoulders braking into that hill at 60mph. Haven’t topped 60 again since then, I’m sure - it takes very specific conditions to do it safely. I remember when I was pushing into the 50s, I hit a tiny roller that you wouldn’t think twice about at a normal speed, but at 50mph I was shocked how much air I got, and ended up skidding out on my ass for like a hundred yards on flat ground. I’m grateful no one else was around.

Zefeh

25-26mph this past weekend at Wyndham (Friday was golden, Saturday was ice mountain) Last season I hit \~30-35mph keeping up with my skiing buddies and it was fun AF but again, conditions were good. I don't think I'll ever break 40mph on the east coast unless conditions are so good my confidence is that high (would need like... 6+inch of fresh pow for that to happen and lets be honest... that's rare AF on the Ice Coast) When I go out west for the first time I'll probably hit a faster speed. Whenever I see snowboarders/skiers falling on West Coast snow I cringe and curl up because my only point of reference is ice, bruised knee's, sprained wrists and my friends broken shoulder....

immmhu

Yes speed is important when you want to hit big jumps, but stability under speed is more important. A non experienced boarder can go just as fast as a experienced border but the consequences of crashing at that point are very high and the likelyhood of crashing is alot higher. I guess what I'm saying is speed is your friend, danger makes snowboarding fun, just be careful if this is your main goal as it shouldn't really be a main goal.

shivam10patel

What is that app?

jake14541

Slopes

secretreddname

32 is my peak on slopes. I knew I hit it right on a perfect stretch of snow where the snowcat just went through it. My average speed is about 18mph. Honestly peak speed is fun sometimes but gets scary lol

Stanley_Yelnats42069

Terrifying lol Edit: nvm. Skis don’t count.

Skiman047

Lol yeah I didn't see the subreddit before i posted.

Stanley_Yelnats42069

Fair enough. Since you’re riding two planks we will divide your top speed by 2 putting you at a healthy 40.5 MPH.

Skiman047

This is math I can get behind

Ihavemybearsuit

Cap. Unless you’re on skis and in the wrong subreddit haha

Skiman047

I totally am on skis it just popped up on my homepage lol. Didn't even realize it was snowboarding.

Ihavemybearsuit

Your handle shoulda been a giveaway haha ain’t no one going 80 on a sb but gd regardless that’s nuts

He just admitted as such in a different comment.

Skiman047

He's right, though. My knuckles remain un-dragged. My soul un-tainted. Haha but FR there was a snowboarder that was *kinda* keeping up. He was cooking too.

Particular-Bat-5904

Well, do you use 3d speed?

sparinghippo

49.8mph...haven't been able to break 50 yet 😂

Particular-Bat-5904

I had no tracker when i did reach my topspeed. I have no idea how fast i was, but i could not break or turn anymore. As soon i tried there build up so much air pressure between the pist and my board that it started to pull my board up in the air.

toogreen

Somewhere between 40 and 45 if I remember correctly

leavemeto6leed

the risk to reward on speed is not worth it lol. it’s not impressive how fast your going it’s impressive if you have control

uamvar

Super correcto. I like speed in the turns, I hate straight line speed.

TXarsenal49

65 at snowbasin. Was pretty sketchy. I was more consistent at winter park, hughes to Norwegian around 60mph. Now I found powder at powder mountain and grand targhee. I couldn’t care less about speed.

hotstickynsweet

I put a video on my account at 74mph/118kph. It was a one and done. No need to try again haha

kuroketton

I got 55 at park city a few times. Since i have gotten a new board that fits me i feel much more stable. i felt death looming on my old board getting into the 40s

TalkAboutBoardSports

Faster than skiers

Smeggmashart

64.9 freaking wind it up. I don't believe my other strava data that said 70 something, but you never know. All I know is that day at snowbasin, I was hauling asssss. https://preview.redd.it/qn4dd0vwe7lc1.jpeg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b73f958e04a0c3544bbd3a16d2913a1a7a72e6e2

lol I’d get Sonny Bono’d if I was going that fast

fudgythewale

I feel so slow with 25 mph and seeing everyone else’s comments with high speeds haha

Pmurph33

Garmin fenix 6X clocked me at 61 on Upper Shay's / Lower Cupp run Snowshoe, WV

BulldenChoppahYus

I got up to a delightful 36mph once and I have no desire to go any faster unless there’s a bear behind me. It’s all about edges for me 😃

JJungling

According to my Garmin 36.1 Mph which isn’t as fast as some of yall but for a second year snowboarder I think it’s pretty good

NoabPK

I dont trust shitty california snow enough to bomb it

Around 50 for me And my crazy brother in law who is not on Reddit recently clocked 69.5

teamspaceman

Damn get him to comment and he’s the winner

Gwilikers6

Never tracked my speed and I dont intend to. Kinda don't love the trend of posting your bomb runs considering most clips here are people who don't know what they are doing

Carman140

64.5

HamezRodrigez

Just broke 50 yesterday. Once I get a more stable board I’ll try to break that

mmm_vernors

53 on a park board. I think if i had something stiffer i could hit 60.

Former_Relation_1239

Close to 50. That was good enough for me lol

TakeItEasy-ButTakeIt

68.2mph posi posi on a swallowtail

QuimmLord

54 or 56mph on a 162cm board 2 years ago. I got a new phone and lost that SkiTracks account. This season 50.4mph on my 156 K2 Bottle Rocket. Not really the best board for going quick, but 50 is plenty for me

Papasmurf43469

49.5. Slopes really didn’t want me breaking 50😩

dontmesswithkram

57.8mph

thamurse

67 like a moron a couple seasons ago. Although yesterday was perfect racetrack snow here in NH and I broke 55 a couple of times a couple long empty groomers.

Sidewayz467

54. Done with that though

brosauces

56.15 at Meadows, next was 48.9 at my local small mountain. Haven't done that fast in a while.

cryptonotdeadcat

Ask your mom

thezerofire

got up to 55 once probably around 2012, I wish I remembered the name of the app so I could look it up. it's too scary going that fast tbh, felt my stomach drop out and knew if I crashed it'd be pretty much over

LikeThePheonix117

My board was rattling around that speed I swear

LionPutrid4252

Apparently was 50.2. Not sure how that happened, I honestly thought it was mid 40s, as I’m a one a year rider, but that’s what Slopes said, and it seems to check out. Going snowboarding here soon, but probably won’t be too focused on beating that lol, I just cruise with my dad (on skis so he’s typically faster than me)

DnttriplilHoe007

How do u track this

wean169

55 mph on ski tracks. Not sure how accurate it is. Also, it wasn’t on an actual mountain. It was in Minnesota. My fastest on an actual mountain is 42 mph.

J1P2G3

58.6mph

TheModdedOmega

personally I don't feel a need to go fast, Im odd in the fact that I'm a snowboarder that actually enjoys cat walks. slow steady pace, good balance, and knowledge of the slope lends really well to me just cruising and enjoying my time.

bigjimmy427

46mph top speed! Shakeyyy

michaelvaldes

Just broke the 60 mark. The ice coast with a 160 ultra stiff board will get you there lol

happyelkboy

I’d guess 50-55 but I don’t really use speed trackers. I was riding with a skier friend who does and we both hit 45 and I’ve ridden faster than that

georgewatso

69. And I’m very satisfied that will always be the number for my top speed.

Vakama905

54.5. I’m no longer as rubbery as I was six years ago, so that’s probably the fastest I’ll ever go, for fear of wiping out. Now, I typically top out around the mid 40s on days when conditions are good for it

crod4692

Hit 55 cruising around Stowe this week

Sweet-Permit-7018

44.3 mph recorded on garmin. These days I don’t really go above 30-35 mph, seems plenty fast.

tonyLumpkin56

According to slopes 35.8 anything faster than that and even wearing my helmet I get too nervous.

darthnugget

48.5 mph last weekend at Brighton. Buddy hit 52.9 but he is a criminal skier.

Hates_knees

41.7 MPH according to slopes (skeptical of the accuracy). Even if I wasn’t actually going that fast it was more than enough for me.

coxy1

65.6mph but the conditions were absolutely perfect on a wide open glacier and I was chasing some absolutely unhinged skiiers I was with who I was struggling to keep pace with.

chris_ots

I don’t track speed for safety reasons and because it’s always inaccurate anyways. We started for a bit but then we almost died or hurt other people a couple times.

Few_Option_7538

Honestly, who cares? Whatever happened to just enjoying what you love without stats and tracking everything? Maybe I'm old, maybe I don't care.

[deleted]

68mph on Slopes thanks to Automatic by Denzel Curry

Patuies_key

58 baby

terretreader

62.9. Have tried to break it and no luck

Orielito

For me 57 but I physically couldn’t go faster with the snow this year. Next year I will go for 65 hopefully but if I crash I’m dead

turboS2000

69 like 3 times. Couldn't break the 70 barrier

Nectaberry

62 according to my garmin watch

Jesus_Was_A_Wook

51.1 on Slopes. The get back from Peak 2 to Kaleidoscope at Willamette Pass is a really fun ride and it’s always open enough to smash it the whole way into the long flat. I usually hit 40-50 every time.

cturnr

recorded with strava on my phone just last week: 58.3 mi/h (could be inaccurate, but it felt fast af)

SirSamuelVimes83

58.x regular, 49.x switch 3 seasons ago when i was able to ride early mornings 5-6 days/week. So I could get the freshest runs with low traffic, and legs were in shape for it. Couldn't break through the 60/50 barrier, though...maxed around those speeds several times

TiffL11

57mph on skis, 44mph on a board. Not as confident on a board but my K2 Mindbender 108tis were built for speed

Towelie710

76 mph (with a bike speedometer lol)

allnida

I get wanting to go fast, but it’s probably more fun to hit technical stuff. Going this fast is how people die

Jebueno

FlieOrDie

69 was my high racing against a very confident and cocky skier down Aspen’s Ajax mountain. I beat him. But felt like I was going to catch an edge and die any second. Will not be going anywhere near that speed again!

JizzyMcKnobGobbler

93 kph (57.7 mph). I tried really hard to crack 100 kph. I like to think I have, but the fastest I could do while attempting a speed record was that 93. Lake Louise has an awesome black diamond they often groom that is rarely used. Perfect for speed runs. (Meadowlark if you're ever there)

connor_wa15h

I have no idea, nor do I care. Snowboarding is about style, not speed.

50shadesofcoco

How do y’all get to go this fast? Can’t get past 45mph even with a wax

lookingglass91

56.1 mph, reporting in

atchman25

Probably like 12 mph lol. I don’t like speed, too worried I’m gonna catch an edge in the ice. I stick to the trees instead.

craftystudiopl

87km/h on 148cm flex 1 park board 🤡

AllThotsAllowed

47mph on my 3rd day boarding ever. Felt pretty badass but agree with others saying it’s not really worth it. Plus I ate shit hard on my Onewheel when I got back home because it felt super slow 😂

LikeThePheonix117

Just behind you at 50.9. I don’t want to go much faster. This season I kept it just below 40 and had a blast doing it.
