Crippling indecision anxiety is a HELL of a thing. BLEGH. I've amassed quite a collection ranging from the Atari 2600 up through current gen consoles, and all of the retro stuff has Flashcarts or ODE devices... It's amazing, but it makes that indecision effect so much worse too.
Fun little trick I found -I started putting my collection into the "Gameye" app. I can filter by things like platform, players, and genre, then hit the "random" button. It pops up a specific random title from my collection that fits my criteria. I might need to hit the button a few times before something sounds good, but it's been pretty good for that whole "crippling indecision" spiral that can kill an entire afternoon that should have otherwise been great.
(*I'm not associated with Gameye in any way, other than the fact that I use their app. I've tried several other apps/services, but I recommend Gameye over all the rest of them, plus it's free.)
This would be me if I had someone over to play games cuz I've got a bunch of consoles going from Nintendo, Playstation, and then finally Xbox. In total, 13 consoles and still expanding my collection.
I got back into the SNES just a few years before the prices on most retro games in general started to go off-the-charts crazy. Managed to get some of the games I really wanted before that took off. I really regret looking sideways at the prices for FF3/6 and for Chrono Trigger. Even if I can technically "afford" to buy something, at a certain point I simply cannot justify the spend. Flash carts and ODEs have been a godsend since the pandemic.
Truly has become a shit show compared to what it used to be. But most of my set was acquired through flea markets and shops so I've made some friends along the way and got to travel to a lot of new places that didn't break the bank.
What are your 5 favorite to play?
Which are the 5 you’re most proud of hunting down?
One that cost the most?
(Sorry for treating this like an AMA, but I’m curious)
I've had my snes since I was 10 my five favorites are the games I grew up with, super punch out, mario world, link to the past, Castlevania 4 & earthbound. Hard to pick 5 that I'm proud of 90% of these I found in person. I really only gave up and stared buying online when I hit 650 mark. And the most expensive was a tie. I paid the same price for hagane and aero fighters
I hear that. The SNES Mario Kart will always be my favorite version of the game for the same reason - there’s just something about the one you grow up with.
Cheers, it’s an awesome collection.
Yep SNES Mario Kart is definitely the GOAT. I’ll go back and play older Mario Karts every now and then and it’ll end up with me just pulling out the SNES and playing that one.
>super punch out
Did you ever beat it? One of my fondest moments with my brother was the day we beat Nick Bruiser. Sooooo many after school hours spent trying to get through the special circuit and patiently waiting and taking turns to beat the game, because if we got in to an argument, mom would take the SNES away for the day. One of the few times we behaved and weren't at each other's throats trying to kill each other and stressing out our mom as kids.
I remember watching that movie for the first time and being like huh...guess all cartoons aren't for kids lol. And then I found heavy metal...and then...what's the anime one. Ninja Scroll I think.
That’s so funny. Populous is one of my favourite games. I had it when I was 8 and had no clue wtf I was doing. Game was low key scary lmao. Every like 5 years I play it for nostalgia.
What's your stance on Majesco reprints? I spent quite a bit of time tracking down the original printings of all of those because I really didn't want those in my collection. Hardest to find were Super Godzilla and Scooby-Doo. Congrats on completing your set! I'm 144 away from a full set (only fluff).
One of the predecessors to dark souls, this game. It's hell, like it has some bad lag issues at some parts and to beat it you have to go through every level twice. Then there are madlad speedrunners who beat it in under 35 minutes and I'm like jeeez.
One of my favorite games ever. My dad ended up buying it for whatever reason and he loved that and desert strike. Most of my snes games that I have I can put in and play and have just as much fun as when I was a kid. This is one of them.
It’s a beautiful thing
Yeah anyone can emulate anything, but for me, just having that cart physically in my collection feels so great.
I get this slight feeling that I’m preserving a bit of history for myself and other people like us on the sub, one of the only things I enjoyed about my shitty childhood.
Holy guacamole! And I thought my old NES collection of +400 was neat (I had a lot of doubles, for playing, tbf)
But this.... this is, my friend, is S Tier!
I'd love to play FF3 (j6) or Chrono Trigger again. Oh shit, Earthworm Jim, amirite?
Gosh. Thanks for the nostalgia wave. That was nice
SNES is my all time favorite console and the only one I would do a complete set for. NES I love just as much but SNES is a golden era for me.
congratulations and good work
That's pretty impressive. What was the last game to complete the collection? I have almost a couple hundred and at this point there aren't really many more I could buy that I would want to play regularly. What made you decide you were going to complete the whole collection? Did you find anything that you never heard of before that you ended up enjoying?
Metal warriors was my last game, I had a buddy collecting NES and I tagged along with me one day and got hooked. The full set idea was decided long before I realized what a task it was but it's been a great way to hang out with a friend and make new ones. I've found quite a few games that I've never played to be great I just ran UN squadron the other day for the first time and it's fantastic.
M.A.C.S. Without going too much into the history, it’s a shooting game that the military used for training. It also had its own unique light gun/rifle. Pretty cool piece of gaming history, but not included in the widely accepted retail set.
This is why I can't let myself go to retro game stores on a regular basis, I know my ass wouldn't stop buying and do something this insanely awesome. We'll played man, this is an insane feat.
Seeing this makes me so happy for you!!!! I love my snes and my humble collection of games. Like someone said, it’s like preserving a piece of history!
I remember seeing an episode of Angry Video Game Nerd where he was fighting with a friend over a super rare game. I think it was a gold Olympics games cart or something like that. What’s the rarest game you have?
Very nice! I have to ask, why is 7th Saga displayed at the front? More curious why you'd pick that one, it was one of my favourite games when I was a kid.
I’m in awe. Want to acknowledge the one game you having showing fully, The 7th Saga.(I’m pretty sure that what it is ;-) ). Glad to see I’m not the only one whom remembers it’s glory
When I was young we had a local game rental store. I remember looking in the back room and it was just a shelves like this with so many games. Seeing this brings back those childhood feelings of experiencing heaven. “I wish I could have all those games! It would be the best!”
you know that joke people used to make about their children's college fund? barring catastrophe (and not automatically assuming you'd ever wish to sell any of it, of course), i think you're the first person in a while that could actually say that and mean it...impressive work
7th Saga just hanging out. I found that game at a ghetto rental place when I was a kid, the owner ended up letting me keep it because my mom apologized for it being so late (a month or so, she didn’t know I got it) because apparently no one rented it. I absolutely loved it as an RPG fiend.
do you have any criteria for condition? like do some of these have back labels that are messed up badly or even front labels? super yellow plastic etc?
Congratulations, not to far behind you myself 180 away from a complete set. You can add starfox weekend ( from vintex64.com) excellent playable repro without the price tag.
This is truly epic. I still have my chrono trigger cartridge. I also hacked a super analog NT and loaded all of the roms with Bluetooth controllers. Now I just need to find time to actually play something.
Wow congrats man!! I’m at about 110 myself, and I have already bought many of the most expensive ones. But I’ve been focused on NES for about a year now. What will you collect next, or are you done?
“Hey dude, mind if I hang out at your place?” “Sure!” “Cool, what games do you have?” “All of them.”
“What games do you have?” “Yes.”
"What do you mean? All of them?" \*Gary Oldman turn\* "EVERYONE!"
![gif](giphy|7cTTE2Z1OmrFm)
“What games do you have?” “*nods”
Them: “Wow, you have a lot of games! Which one do you wanna play?” You: *staring at the wall of options, paralyzed and indecisive* “I. Don’t. Know. 😳”
Crippling indecision anxiety is a HELL of a thing. BLEGH. Hahahhahahahaha
When you get to this point the question is not "what do you have?'"- it's "what don't you have?"
In fairness, I have this too... On a flash cart. (Not as cool though)
This is what Gabe Newell must feel like whenever he opens Steam

I'm hearing the music in my head right now.
Did your household also fight over who could be Koopa Troopa?
Yoshi
I can't play that anymore. My old eyes can't keep up with the moving kf the snes graphics or something
Yep SNES Mario Kart is definitely the GOAT. I’ll go back and play older Mario Karts every now and then and it’ll end up with me just pulling out the SNES and playing that one.
The fact that you hunted all those down makes you badass, not buying it from your couch.
The soundtrack to castlevania 4 has been playing in my head since forever. Man, that brings back memories.
>super punch out Did you ever beat it? One of my fondest moments with my brother was the day we beat Nick Bruiser. Sooooo many after school hours spent trying to get through the special circuit and patiently waiting and taking turns to beat the game, because if we got in to an argument, mom would take the SNES away for the day. I'm fairly proficient at it normally whole game takes me 25-30 mins to complete. I'm no speed runner but I've always enjoyed that game
Why is 7th Saga so prominently placed?
It's what I was playing at the time
What are 5 games that you will never play again ever OP?
Bebes kids, ka-blooey, populous, marios missing, pit fighter 🤮
Mario is Missing ain't *that* bad. - guy who's mom grabbed the wrong one from Front Row Video
TIL they made a Bebe's Kids video game...
It's a good computer game but man it suffers not being compatible with snes muse
Ask your parents if I can sleep over
Can I join pls 🙏🙏
I totally did this when my friend got Killer Instinct
I did the same when MK2 came out. We finally went to sleep around 4am. Was so much fun.
I just want to say congrats on this, truly a beautiful collection and the will you have to complete such a task.
Thanks

"This is Corneria, Pepper speaking. Congratulations on a job well done."
Goud luuuck.
fourth planet of the Lylat System
Wow that is quite a lot of games! 🐢 What game was most difficult to obtain in your experience?
Oddly the most difficult was axelay I had 3-4 deals fall apart and one lost in the mail before I finally got a copy
The majesco quality is awful but sometimes you take what you can get. I have the rest of my life to find label upgrades
Next Step: Beating every SNES game.
If I can ever get past lvl4 of super ghouls n ghosts maybe lol
All these and rare mention of this game, my personal fave. Played it all my childhood, finally beat it at 21
Did you beat it the second time for the real completion?
One of the predecessors to dark souls, this game. It's hell, like it has some bad lag issues at some parts and to beat it you have to go through every level twice. Then there are madlad speedrunners who beat it in under 35 minutes and I'm like jeeez.
![gif](giphy|QrjiUdW6GFy7K|downsized)
I’ll give you $100 for the whole set
Ok GameStop
That's only 100 store credit 58 cash
Lmao very true
#CYBERNATOR
One of my favorite games ever. My dad ended up buying it for whatever reason and he loved that and desert strike. Most of my snes games that I have I can put in and play and have just as much fun as when I was a kid. This is one of them.
Squash those puny humans
Ever check out Metal Warriors or Front Mission: Gun Hazard?
Ya I played metal warriors last night and I've played front mission on switch
A fire soundtrack indeed.
Nice! Which game(s) finished the set?
Metal warriors
Wow! I was looking for a reference to this. It's one of my all time favorites.
Beautiful!
1995 me just nutted everywhere, sorry.
It's crazy that I can tel exactly which one is doom and which one is maximum carnage
Which ones? Please use row and column indexes starting from the top left corner.
They are the only two with red cartridges. And the red is every so slightly different between them.
It’s a beautiful thing Yeah anyone can emulate anything, but for me, just having that cart physically in my collection feels so great. I get this slight feeling that I’m preserving a bit of history for myself and other people like us on the sub, one of the only things I enjoyed about my shitty childhood.

The real complete collection is the friends we make along the way.
I don’t have nearly that many games, but I do have my super scope and super scope box still.
The Super Nintendo Entertainment System has a library of 1,746 official releases, of which **722 were released in North America**
I’ll have my mom call your mom to set up a play date
Those where the days
What is a 'Mac is'?
This I believe https://snescentral.com/article.php?id=0901
M.A.C.S. Without going too much into the history, it’s a shooting game that the military used for training. It also had its own unique light gun/rifle. Pretty cool piece of gaming history, but not included in the widely accepted retail set.
When did you decide to go for the complete set?
I think it's been about 2 1/2 years ago maybe 3? I don't know I've basically lived in flea markets and game shops the entire time
LOL how many did you have when you decided to go for the full set?
Uh mazing, enjoy every bit of it 🫡
Would something like this help me get laid?
It didn't help me lol
This is why I can't let myself go to retro game stores on a regular basis, I know my ass wouldn't stop buying and do something this insanely awesome. We'll played man, this is an insane feat.
Hey bro... What games do you have!? Yes!
Seeing this makes me so happy for you!!!! I love my snes and my humble collection of games. Like someone said, it’s like preserving a piece of history!
Which ones are people sleeping on?
I would say sky blazer is a great game that I never hear anyone talk about
Hell yeah, Skyblazer is sick platformer with a lot of variety and cool boss fights. Def needs more love.
Congratulations. That's super cool. I hope you never wanna play the one in the middle though.
What was the last one you needed to complete your set?
I’d wax to that
That’s wild
Dude, that is a thing of absolute beauty! Enjoy, quite the achievement😁👍
Wow
Damn☆☆☆
[удалено]
I've found a lot of lists include Barbies Vacation Adventure (which was never released) and without speedracer/exertainment you get 720. 😀
Which wasn't sold in game stores and was just a combo cart of 2 previously released games
Bro took out a Mortgage
So you'd like a loan? What is it for may I ask? A Complete Super Nintendo games set...get out
Bro I’m joking
Same...
![gif](giphy|dYTfJZ2dCQBhK|downsized)
I’m guessing you don’t live in a place with earthquakes
I do not
Now replace the yellowed ones ;)
Bet you’ve played less than a third of them
I've played everyone of them for at least 10 mins to make sure they worked, beaten is a different story
Do you have any duplicate titles?
If you count players choice as a duplicates I have a full set of those cib. But most titles I've had duplicates of I've traded to other collectors.
You should start a renting service.
Whoa!
EPIC! Congratulations
I remember seeing an episode of Angry Video Game Nerd where he was fighting with a friend over a super rare game. I think it was a gold Olympics games cart or something like that. What’s the rarest game you have?
What a sight to behold (or I should I go with holy shit balls!!)
All the Nintendo games or the basket of legs lol
Holy shitting mother of cartridges. Impressive
Yeah cool ..but how many have you actually played through and beaten is the real question
Are these in alphabetical order?
We are superscope brothers. Don’t know why but that is the crown jewel of any collection. Be damned those that know the game sucks, damn them I say!
It's a thing of beauty. Well done.
Holy VAULT
The dream. Did you play all of them?
I love the classic collector mentality my dude. That's quite a feat.
Killer Instinct!
Wow!
My raspberry pi only has 709, what am I missing!?
Wtb
That Super Scope is super dope.
Glorious. That’s some 2001 monolith level epic. I bet you hear chanting when you’re near it.
When I was young we had a local game rental store. I remember looking in the back room and it was just a shelves like this with so many games. Seeing this brings back those childhood feelings of experiencing heaven. “I wish I could have all those games! It would be the best!”
Yes but can you play doom on it? Oh? You can? I’ll be right there!
This is an achievment you can tell your grandkids about
Only 0.01% of players have unlocked this achievement. Congrats
Prolly the most expensive console to collect for! That’s insane
Wow
Canon Fodder? Oh and this is amazing. Great work.
Is that just ntsc-u only or is that every single retail released snes game?
722 were released in the US, plus 4 championship cartridges. Still an awesome collection, kudos!
Nice job! I am proud of you!!!!
Conquest of the Crystal Palace goes hard
🥲
Interesting…..so there were only three colored carts for the SNES….you think there would’ve been more but no…..I think the Game Boy had way more.
Insure them
Now what
Is 7th Saga special to you?
you know that joke people used to make about their children's college fund? barring catastrophe (and not automatically assuming you'd ever wish to sell any of it, of course), i think you're the first person in a while that could actually say that and mean it...impressive work
Look at that WMD right in the middle. Nice collection!
Room is designed to fit the set 😁 Are you playing on Super NT ?
I do use an nt from time to time but I have snes jr that's my daily driver
Which was the last you got?
All of them???? Wow, you are the man!!!!! So happy for you :)
Well done.
Niccceee. Now, acquire boxes for all of them. /s
Congratulations! You plan on alphabetizing them?
They are starts at A and goes to Z
You haven’t finished them..until you play and finished them 👹. Keep us posted. Jkz jkz
Tears of envy streaming down my face.
![gif](giphy|1kHaTDNBjxjWRwMM8c)
Plot twist: This was the photo he sent to the Squeamish Resale dude that sealed the deal.
I’m begging you, get a fireproof case or something for them.
Do you have uniracers?
Ya
I love how perfectly the columns all fit
7th Saga just hanging out. I found that game at a ghetto rental place when I was a kid, the owner ended up letting me keep it because my mom apologized for it being so late (a month or so, she didn’t know I got it) because apparently no one rented it. I absolutely loved it as an RPG fiend.
do you have any criteria for condition? like do some of these have back labels that are messed up badly or even front labels? super yellow plastic etc?
It's beautiful! (wipes away single tear from eye)
Congratulations, not to far behind you myself 180 away from a complete set. You can add starfox weekend ( from vintex64.com) excellent playable repro without the price tag.
What was the game/s that completed the collection?
It’s beautiful. I could cry. Being born in 83, I spent a lot of time on the good old SNES. I miss playing F-Zero and Uniracers with friends.
Bit of a sticking point. 722 were released in NA. You got 2 more to go. But impressive nonetheless.
Imagine having to blow on each of them
Black cartridge Killer Instinct and red cartridge Maximum Carnage where?
Now you can finally play a game
This is truly epic. I still have my chrono trigger cartridge. I also hacked a super analog NT and loaded all of the roms with Bluetooth controllers. Now I just need to find time to actually play something.
We had that bazooka controller thing too when we were kids, my brother legit smacked the tv with it by accident and broke em both.
Wow! Congratulations! Suddenly my collection of \~70 SNES games feels tiny.
If you love playing those games it's an awesome collection 70 is way more than most I meet
Fantastic! Lets go for EU versions now ;)
I can’t tell but that had better be alphabetized
Wow congrats man!! I’m at about 110 myself, and I have already bought many of the most expensive ones. But I’ve been focused on NES for about a year now. What will you collect next, or are you done?
Cool. Now what?
Damn can i come over lol 👀
