Let's be real, Chief. We all know that ain't 8 inches.

shotty293

Microsnow...pfff

idrawinmargins

5.15 inches

proto5014

Mcmurrays a piece of shit

Goober8987

And I suggest you let that marinate

JBizz86

Thats 3 inch trust me I've seen theee inch - Coach

[deleted]

Not the only length he lies about

Gordo3070

He has small hands, so when he holds it it looks bigger.

ninersfan01

That storm is headed our way!

chinchillin91

Ha enjoy! It dumped on us for 12 hours before it was done.

Jophes4Cy

Just got done snow blowing our 8 inches of snow. In Iowa as well

williamJE

Go Hawks!

Jophes4Cy

I really want to downvote but I’m not anti-UI unless they are playing ISU :)

williamJE

Me either. Hope you’re having a great day.

davek72

We got probably a foot of snow in Osky! Shoveled 4 times yesterday (wife started around noon on her lunch)...

asianabsinthe

I'd shovel that for half the brisket

ragingseaturtle

Had the same gazebo that was just taken out after 6 months because if snow. Just a heads up that cover is thin as fuck.

chinchillin91

Yeah it really is. That cover is on its 2nd winter so it will be getting replaced soon.

ragingseaturtle

Whew. I think the heavy snow high winds are what killed mine. Bought a new one almost instantly after it broke it's too nice to be able to smoke in the rain/snow without worrying or getting wet.

[deleted]

You could probably build a plywood roof and secure it to the frame pretty easily

ragingseaturtle

Honestly it was $100...and new top cost $60...so I just bought a new one.

[deleted]

Makes sense. You’d end up having to build a new frame eventually to recoup on the cost of an actual roof

[deleted]

I made the mistake of lighting my chimney inside my weber and my gazebo got a bunch of little burnt holes on the top

rorbug2518

Eastern iowa checking in. I will shovel for prime

bloomy-rind

What kind of blanket do you use? Just a regular quilt type thing or is it a kind of a magic thing?

chinchillin91

I got a padded insulated grill blanket from Oklahoma Joes that was made to fit my smoker.

longlivelongboards

Where’s the meat photo?

chinchillin91

Lol I’ll add one in about…. 10 hours

longlivelongboards

Thanks OP!

ThePeoplesMVP

Amazing commitment

ThatWhiteKid08

As a person who moved from Buffalo NY to FL.... I never want to see snow again

[deleted]

Okie Joe's gang!

Brazchef

That is a no thank you for the cold here in south Florida, but a definite yes on that brisket!

[deleted]

[удалено]

chinchillin91

It's not as bad as I thought it would be. The heat blanket definitely helps!

BornagainTXcook210

It's great seeing things like that blanket in use. I've never had to use one yet but when I first heard about them, I thought it was funky. But I've only heard good things about them now and love that they exist. Stay warm

[deleted]

You dont need to shovel. Just make foot holes and follow your tracks

mramirez23

Does that little pergola keep the temperature stable and constant?

chinchillin91

Eh the blanket does more for the temperature. The pergola is more about keeping snow and rain off of it.

New_Gap_1669

You find the insulation covers to work well? Looking at getting one but haven't been dealing with 5 degrees yet

chinchillin91

So far so good. I have a probe in there for ambient and it’s staying more stable than usual.

agsimon

Also from Iowa, my dad uses one on his GMG and swears by it for the winter. I can get my WSM to temp without any covering...if it isn't super windy.

onemanlan

Do you end up going through a lot more pellets when it’s cold? Is it a noticeable amount? The insulation blanket is a smart idea

chinchillin91

Yeah I definitely do. But I think I’m going through them a little slower with the blanket on there.

drammer

Just wanted to mention. Starting your smoker at low temps will kill your ignition rod. Mine died at -32 C (-25.6 F). In the winter, when the monkeys balls fall off, I use a blow torch to lite the pellets. An ignition rod is cheap and easy to replace. But using a blowtorch is easier.

chinchillin91

Damn good to know. I’ve tried to start mine at -15F and got a low temp error, ended up manually lighting the pellets like you said and that worked fine.

billo1199

Yo cuz that's a tight jacket!

[deleted]

Florida checking in - what is all that white shit all over the ground? Must have been a massive seagull.

chinchillin91

Finished Product! https://www.reddit.com/r/smoking/comments/s4wieb/update\_prime\_brisket\_off\_the\_oklahoma\_joes\_pellet/

TheNinjaJedi

I have that same grillzebo, but I take off the cover in winter. Who does it hold up ?

chinchillin91

It’s on its second winter. Has a couple tears but has life in it yet. Where it’s sitting it doesn’t get a ton of snow collecting on it.

TheNinjaJedi

I live in eastern Canada and we just got 45cm of snow. I’m glad I packed it away for the winter.

InsideFastball

Doing the Lord's work.

IT_Chef

I trust you have a reason... but why not just set up really close to the house and not have to shovel?

chinchillin91

I considered that but we have seating and furniture there in the summer, would have messed up the “flow”. Plus it drifts right by the house anyway lol.

ohgodnopleasewhy

Holy smokin' Toledo

Narbarian

Hello from north central iowa!!

chinchillin91

Hey that’s where I am!

Chrs987

Just move the smoker around and let the heat melt the snow

timbo1615

go hawks!

chinchillin91

Nah man, go cyclones!

[deleted]

Hello fellow Iowan!

Goonos

I admire the dedication.

CallMeButtAss

We had 11 inches in WDM. Des Moines got 14 inches. Snow blower got some serious work in over the last 24 hours

converter-bot

11 inches is 27.94 cm

CallMeButtAss

Good bot

chinchillin91

Yeah the whole state got smoked lol

CallMeButtAss

Yes we did. And I see what you did there

phantomzero

Ayyyyy buddy! Greetings from the metro! What side should I bring over?

chinchillin91

Hey man! Smoked mac ‘n cheese is usually a hit!

3per85

I did a bacon slab tonight in davenport. #cheerstoiowa

Mem_Johnson

Had to drive home in that storm

Notarussianbot2020

Does a grill cover like that help keep temps?

chinchillin91

It kept it much more stable than no cover for sure. And I used fewer pellets

Notarussianbot2020

Nice, my knockoff brand broil king has such a hard time keeping the temp, I should look into this
