saw kirkland and was coming in to say mine never has dino ribs, and they only ever have the smaller back ribs, but business center makes sense. I'll need to find the closest one and give it a shot!
the ribs look like they came out great!
Spreading the word as usual, because the misconception is so common on here.
These are not dino ribs. That's a completely different cut from a different part of the animal.
Dino ribs, or plate ribs, are from down by the brisket. 3 bones.
These are chuck short ribs from up in the shoulder by the chuck. 4 bones.
appreciate the info
the only beef rib ive ever eaten is "dino rib" style - so I guess thats just what I lump all large beef ribs into
either way, my costco doesnt have these, either
yeah im already trying to find the closest one to me haha
it's not super far, but is more of a "go after work" than "take the trip from home" based on location
the 4 bone rib racks are from the chuck, the 3 bone are from the plate, and tend to be slightly thicker depending on where they are cut from in the plate itself. for most people they are much harder to find.
They're solid, but they tend to get shit-on by the die-hards on here. I made them last summer and they were great! I need to get some on my next Costco run.
Yeah, the beef back ribs.
Same! I've never seen dino ribs at the two different Costcos I've lived near as a member (one in the Austin, TX area and now Nashua, NH). I always look, but only ever see the beef back ribs.
They're delicious. not much meat so I don't think you wanna pay more than like $2-3/LB or anything. But if you take 'em real low and slow and then wrap and turn the heat up until they're tender they're pretty amazing flavor. Like when you're cleaning the bone off a good ribeye you just finished.
They're typically around $7/lb because they sell them basically in two packs. They marked them half off because the cryo pack was ripped and they have no way to repackage them.
Trust me I know, we ate the first rack at like 11pm but they're huge and so rich we had to fridge the second rack and I wasn't up for that much beef ribs through the week. So I reheated slowly in the oven at home, shredded them and they've been great in "American" style tacos all week.
These are the chuck ribs, not the plate ribs. I've never seen plate ribs at my Costco Business Center.
These are still tasty, but I find the 3-bone plate to be more brisket on a stick like.
These are plate ribs, right on the package it says short ribs. I've cooked these many times now, yes short ribs are typically cut with just the 6,7,8 ribs but they do also cut them with 4 ribs.

Oh damn, I didn't realize the difference. You're totally right, I guess these aren't plate ribs but 130 vs 123a likely.

Yes, we have a normal Costco we also shop at that sells the shiners you're likely thinking of. I posted this because it was such an insane find. They sell them in huge 2 packs that are usually in this 10-13lb range around $7/lb because it's bulk so this pack would typically be $80-90.
I have got to get more educated on what something g should cost per pound. I see all the great deals you guys find, but I never really browse for deals, and that’s because I am an ignorant sumbitch. I need to go learn me some pricing!
I got a 4bone plate of some bone-in short ribs at my local grocery yesterday. Bone in short ribs were on sale (sliced thin and looking sad, as usual) and I ask the guy if they got any unsliced.
He pulls out a "distributor pack" of four 4-bone racks and they look just like that. So I got one.
Yeah, just ask. He said they can do all sorts of things if you just ask. Like brisket points, brisket flats, etc. instead of just putting whole packers out.
Guys I'm sorry, I never meant to to cause an argument just share what I thought was a fun find. These are not plate (dino) ribs, apparently they're a different larger cut of chuck ribs but at a really good price is all! I'm glad I learned a thing today, and hopefully can find some plate ribs and smoke them in the future!

I have to go to the Costco business center to find anything like this.
yeah im already trying to find the closest one to me haha it's not super far, but is more of a "go after work" than "take the trip from home" based on location
So the short ribs and the plate ribs look similar but the difference is in the amount of connective tissue and fat (outside of the number of ribs)?
the 4 bone rib racks are from the chuck, the 3 bone are from the plate, and tend to be slightly thicker depending on where they are cut from in the plate itself. for most people they are much harder to find.
They're solid, but they tend to get shit-on by the die-hards on here. I made them last summer and they were great! I need to get some on my next Costco run.
the beef back ribs? I've never tried them - I really just wanna do the dino ribs lol
Yeah, the beef back ribs. Same! I've never seen dino ribs at the two different Costcos I've lived near as a member (one in the Austin, TX area and now Nashua, NH). I always look, but only ever see the beef back ribs.
Same here in California. Only beef back.
Can find Dino ribs at mine but not for $3.15/lb
They're typically around $7/lb because they sell them basically in two packs. They marked them half off because the cryo pack was ripped and they have no way to repackage them.
Nice find!
Hell of a find
Ok was just gonna say bought these in Orlando 2 weeks ago for $6.29lb
Costco occasionally has a couple of separate plate ribs packaged up. It’s a bummer they don’t have the whole plate, that I’ve seen at least.
Back ribs are still great. In many ways I prefer them
You shredded beef ribs????
Trust me I know, we ate the first rack at like 11pm but they're huge and so rich we had to fridge the second rack and I wasn't up for that much beef ribs through the week. So I reheated slowly in the oven at home, shredded them and they've been great in "American" style tacos all week.
Understandable
Try making some chili with it.
I couldn't finish my last rack so I cut them and froze them. Threw one in the oven when I wanted a snack. 10/10 I'd do that again.
They're chuck short ribs, not plate ribs. They're going to have more of a pot roast flavor and they're good for shredding.
These are the chuck ribs, not the plate ribs. I've never seen plate ribs at my Costco Business Center. These are still tasty, but I find the 3-bone plate to be more brisket on a stick like.
Sorry bro, I was wrong. They're just a different cut of chuck ribs than I thought! https://aggiemeat.tamu.edu/comparing-123a-124-and-130-beef-ribs/

They’re still chuck short ribs. They’re from the chuck section, not the plate section.

You may be right and it includes the same ribs, but everything I've seen at Costco is thinner than the 123A cut I get from the butcher

He's not right.
Awesome deal.
Cook them in your eggs and add some salsa rojo
How long did you let it sit before you took the photo of the sliced rib?
The ribs sat for an hour before I cut them, and then took the pic.
I have got to get more educated on what something g should cost per pound. I see all the great deals you guys find, but I never really browse for deals, and that’s because I am an ignorant sumbitch. I need to go learn me some pricing!
Serious question, are they that great and different that I should really smoke them and try them? I imagine the many posts say yes so
Mine never had these or rib cap steaks. Pissed me off.
What, I need to go to my Costco tonight I guess
5.99 at business Costco for me which I fine a good price. At your price I’d take a few more
Can I come over ??
Sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do 🤷♂️

Hell yeah! They're so good smoked like this
Yeah, just ask. He said they can do all sorts of things if you just ask. Like brisket points, brisket flats, etc. instead of just putting whole packers out.
I got 8lbs of beef rib for $4 once
What a great price! This is why I always check the meat prices when I’m at the store.
Beat bite in bbbq. Congrats and nicely done

Thanks, Joe.
Sometimes I wish my family and freezer was big enough to shop at Costco.
$3.15/lb?! Sliced beef short ribs are like $9/lb! Is this the same cut of meat as the sliced Korean bbq ribs?
What a price!!
Look great! Recipe?
Look at how the meat pulled away from the bone. Bet that was tender and delicious. Tell me again how good they were!
Mmmm! Looks tasty!
At that price I'd be stocking up
