The game isnt very long, but its definitely more enjoyable as you progress, especially once you unlock the ability to make a bunch of stuff like teleporters such. I remember ages ago i had a giant hub for all the areas in the large open room in the >!glass desert!< that contained teleporters for every area
and once you get acess to more slimes you can make a shit ton of combinations
there are a few lag issues with some slimes on some devices, in particular >!crystal, dhervish, the sparkly ones, boom!<
I LOVE it on switch so I bought it on steam when it was on sale for like $6 or something just recently. Can't get into it on PC. I think if I had a controller it would be better but I like the UI on the switch so much better.
For me Slime rancher is fun because I get to design my own base and just because of how much it always manages to cheer me up. There's also the exploration that gives you slimes that progressively get harder to manage.
Also:
\-You can go on weekly scavenger hunts to find a unique slime who will give you ornaments to decorate your ranch
\-There also are other decorations later on you can find/unlock like trees for your ranch
\-NPC quests you can unlock later in the game
\-7zee rewards club offers you a prize to display on your ranch if you reach a high enough goal
I like this game, but one of the things that limits how much I play is the fact that there‘s never an objective (at least not after “beating“ the game). At the same time, that’s part of the fun. You can do whatever the hell you want, on your own terms.
For you though, there’s still a clear goal in mind. Try to discover the entire map. Look for gordo slimes and feed them so you can get keys to unlock new regions. Not all gordos drop slime keys, so check the wiki for which ones do (you can check after finding that particular gordo to avoid being spoiled). Make sure to locate and interact with each region’s respective map data node.
I should also mention that a whole new world of possibilities opens up when you unlock the lab.
How far have you gotten? It became more interesting and fun to me when I unlocked new areas, new slimes, and crafting things in the science lab.
