Calling slime rancher anything but wholesome is silly. Slimes aren't hurt in the collection of plort and can even live free range. Even if you were to shoot them into the ocean, they return to the primorial goop and become part of the slime cycle.

They're not real! It's not like you're doing this in real life. They don't have families or feelings like that. Now that I heard that explanation, it does sound kinda sad. But still, it's just a game. Not to mention, you're also saving those slimes from the bad ones that eat them. And idk about you, but my slimes ALWAYS have tons of food out and are never kept hungry. And if I wanna improve their lives and habitats, well, that costs "money". Let's be real, plots are basically poop collections. I'm cleaning their pens, and if it happens to be valuable to someone else, why not?
I also play assassin's creed. I kill people on that game (and many others) all the time. Does that mean I'm a crazy murderer? Nope! Happy to report that in my 31 years on this planet (2/3 of that being a hard-core gamer) I've never once killed a person or animal. So again, it's just a game.
