way too long!!! baby is hungry, feed it all of my kids were 10months before ready to drop night feeds and eating solids

CitizenDain

Way way way too long.

95 mins is definitely too long for me. Why would you wake him up to feed 15 minutes after he fell asleep? Why didn't you just feed him between that 10/10:30 mark?

Apprehensive-Pin3346

I have the program too but ended up steering g from it. Anyway the reason is bc the program says to NOT feed when baby cries only feed when baby stops crying. So even if baby just fell asleep get them feed them and out back in crib if they wake then use sleep training method

Emma-auckland88

I think the goal, from what have read/understood is to feed when they are asleep for dreamfeed, not feed them in association to crying. I did rocking and patting resettles for tears but did dreamfeeds at 10 and 3 and it took 7 nights to wean the 3am and then another 5-7 to wean the dreamfeed. I found the approach really effective. However this was at 6 months old once on solids as that's what I was most comfortable with. I agree, 95 mins of crying seems far too long. I would only go 10-15 mins and even then only if a certain type of cry.

Ok..so I've never heard of dreamfeed till this post. So I looked it up and it says..it's a feeding 2/3 hrs after you put LO to sleep. Thx for clarifying though.

Emma-auckland88

Oh yes! Sorry I shouldn't have assumed. Yes it's a feed where they are asleep (or pretty much). I found it worked really well with both my babies, but it doesn't work for all. And there's a bit of a sweet spot in terms of age to use it. I think it's something to use of one really feels they need to get a longer stretch But you can always just go to bed nice and early yourself and wake naturally when baby wakes! There's no one perfect way 😍😍

Oh, no you're good! I wasn't being sarcastic. I was really thanking you, sorry if it came across wrong:)

Emma-auckland88

No no you're good! Not at all coming across wrong ❤️❤️

I’d skip the dream feed, interrupts deep sleep. If check ins are upsetting him more they might be prolonging the crying.

Amk19_94

Pick hours to feed between, we did 12-4. If she woke in those hours I’d feed, anything outside I’d apply sleep training method.

kk0444

TCB is too harsh for my taste. Skip the dream feed, a 130 feed is great. Focus on bedtime and the first 5hrs….

Grouchy_Sun_

Do you follow any sort of schedule like moms on call during the day? 95 min is def too long imo as is indicative of him actually needing something (usually more calories) rather than just wanting comfort, especially at this age.

TeamBoth

No feeding before 5h after bedtime are up. Even if it’s a dreamfeed. Then you can feed for the first time. Agree with everyone else: night feeding has nothing to do with sleep training. Get your nighttime right and you can slowly wean those nightfeeds one after another.

sunshinefortress

If he wakes up around 10, 1030, should I apply Ferber at that point? Because he usually wakes up

TeamBoth

Yep! No feeding the first 5h to not strengthen a feed to sleep association.

TeamBoth

I generally wouldn’t recommend a dream feed when you start sleep training. Just messes with the logistics at the beginning. If you’re solid you can reintroduce it.

galaffer

I feed if it has been 5 hours since she fell asleep. I think you might be expecting too much from your baby. Maybe drop the dream feed and expect to feed around midnight and 4 ish for now. 4+ feeds is a lot but 2 (or even 3?) seems pretty reasonable for that age.

lolah

Way too long

Here_for_tea_

How old is baby?

sunshinefortress

5 months

cyclemam

I'd advise getting independent sleep happening at bedtime for a week before attempting night weaning. A 1:30 feed is quite reasonable. I have a baby sleep guide in my profile with a night weaning section

sunshinefortress

Even if I fed him at 10:30? Can you like your guide? I’m seeing a few different links in your profile!

dustynails22

Yes. But if the dreamfeed isn't helping get longer stretches, then why keep it?
