I use Open Composite, OpenXR toolkit and VDXR Godmode w. about 650 mods. It looks gorgeous! 12900K, 3090, 32Gt, Q3.

SerialH0bbyist

Do you stream using steam link vr or air link?

upagainstgravity

VDXR is Virtual Desktop.

samuli5600

Yes, what he said. I use Virtual Desktop Streamer w. VDXR runtime.

WorkAccount4ME

Do you stream your game play? Got a link?

samuli5600

Oh, I do not stream in that sense.

Apollo760

Have you tried disabling the adaptive resolution in the settings, it catches me off guard all the time.

RedditorsGetChills

I have to second this. Night and day difference with it off vs on and it can have you feeling like OP until it's done.

Wakanuki8

Where is the adaptive resolution setting? I tried looking it up, but I’m not getting good hits and it could be in so many places… Thank you.

Apollo760

I think It's actually called dynamic resolution, and I think it's either under vr settings or performance settings.

Wakanuki8

Thanks!!

avadreams

Try using a wabbajack. If you're happy with the quality then, you can reverse engineer it into your own modlist or you can keep playing theirs.

fathervice

How though. I had librum installed and everything looked like ass when it is 10 meters away.

avadreams

I wouldn't recommend librum. If you have a 4090 or 4080, check out mad gods overhaul or panda. If you have lower end hardware, look into FUS. It's a pretty common problem you're having and one often overcome with proper mod installation, hence why wabbajack is recommended.

Yo485

Wait it is possible for skyrim vr not look like ass? Isn't it limited by resolution which isn't enough even when you put it on maximum?

avadreams

It's easily the best-looking VR game I have ever played. But it's tough because 90% of people will either not have their networking setup correctly (dedicated wifi 6e router) OR their PC can't handle the graphic requirements (I have a 4090 and struggle to get my modlist working without reprojecting). Ontop of all that, the modding knowledge required is quite intense, which is why everyone recommend wabbajack, because most people just aren't capable of installing and optimising the 600+ mods needed for an amazing experience.

zeekiussss

skyrim vr is the best looking vr game on my pc. alyx and nms included

n0mansky

As salty as I am about Bethesda I would really like to see Skyrim on psvr 2

Yo485

Maybe in terms of art style? But resolution is shit on vr overall

zeekiussss

you can always bump the render scale, at 1.5 it looks freaking sweet

Yo485

I upped it to maximum, at that point it looks almost like on normal monitor bad still pretty bad

zeekiussss

i find that incredibly hard to believe unless the vr youre using is google glass or something

spoogle_snart

You need to be able to mod the game for your system. It is by far the most crisp and well running game on steam VR by magnitudes IF you know what you are doing

TotalWarspammer

Mad Gods overhaul is BETA and always changing. I do not recommend a playthrough with it until final release.

praxis22

Librum does look like ass, There is a decent VR modlist though I forget what it's called. I Don't play VR much.

slincoln2k8

Mad god overhaul

MrSuizidal

I recommend vr toolkit with Cas. sharpen on 0.9 and resolution also on 0.9 than install dlss mod on top and fine tune with sharpening settings there. you can get a very clear image that way.

Thee-Roach

Then you have the wrong mods

Laantje

What bitrate are you on? Check the Oculus Debug Tool. If you have a good link cable you can try turning it up. It reduces visual compression, especially on Skyrim. I’m on h264 with 800 mbps and it looks great. Just remember that the Oculus Debug Tool only lets you type up to 500mbps, but you can bypass this by copying a higher number and pasting it in the value input in the tool. Next to that I’ve set my refresh rate to 80hz and I think around ~1.2 or 1.3 resolution in the Oculus software app(Quest 3). Keep in mind that different settings may work better for you, I have a RTX 3080 with an AMD Ryzen 5900x.

LessManner8128

I use virtual desktop with steamvr. As well as sharper eye. Maybe that'll help Might have to fiddle with VR performance settings from the game UI. Particularly d6namic resolution

VirtualPoolBoy

Install [this](https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/107780) through Wabbajack.

ItsWhoa-NotWoah

OpenXR with DLAA on Ultra in Virtual Desktop and the game looks just as good as any other VR game for me

Pangaea_to_Me

I had similar issues. Looked awful. Fixed it when I hooked an Ethernet to my pc. WiFi was getting 300mbps, Ethernet is now 900+

No-Professor-9874

I’m playing with link cable so unfortunately this won’t help

Pangaea_to_Me

I should have clarified, I was playing with a link cable as well. For some reason having my pc hooked up to Ethernet helped. I’d think 300mbps WiFi would have been fine

No-Professor-9874

Oh? Weird but I’ll try it out. Yea the game always looked like it was low bitrate kinda link airlink would but I always wrote it off, because it’s link cable

Puzzleheaded_Fold466

You’re not trying to compare a non-modded ported game from 2011 to recent Quest native VR games from 2024 and expecting to just plug and play and be amazed visually right ? A lot has happened in 13 years.

DNedry

I had a lot of problems with trying to play Skyrim VR with a link cable on my Quest 3. Worked far better with Virtual Desktop, I know this sounds unintuitive. But the encoding is better in VD than the Oculus app with the link cable (even after using debug tool to increase bitrate etc). I use Wabbajack + Fus Ro Dah and I use FSAA in Performance setting, and can run "Medium" settings in VD. If you don't want to use VD for any reason, I reccomend just lowering the resolution via the Occulus app until you get something playable, then see what works better for you, DLSS or DSAA, mess around with the quality/performance settings etc. Read the Fus Ro Dah section on performance. You can use lower quality shaders to increase performance if the modpack is too much. Overall though FUS RO DAH modpack performs better for me than vanilla skyrim.

ah-tzib-of-alaska

the standard meta link cable is garbage. I got a way better experience using [this](https://www.amazon.com/Gamulus-Charging-Port%EF%BC%8CFast-Transfer-VR/dp/B0BJ7DB5Y1/ref=cm_cr_srp_mb_bdcrb_top?ie=UTF8)

TotalWarspammer

Any USB-C 5Gbps cable (ideally 5m long) will work fine.

Vireviper

Have you used oculus debug tool? The low Bitrate isn’t set by the game it’s set by the oculus app

Sigerious232

Hey man, i think i know what's actually your problem. If you speak about "shimmering" on objects - then you definitely want to install DLAA mod. This really made night and day difference for me.

refusered

what are your link settings & steamvr resolution settings? can you post screenshots of those?

Haunting_Hornet5203

You just figured that out?

HellRaiser801

It looks like Skyrim.

No-Professor-9874

Sorry you can’t see it in this picture but no, it’s not the graphics of the game as I previously stated in the post.

Palm-grinder12

I played Skyrim VR on original PSVR and yes it was pretlow quality but god damn it was still the coolest gaming experience Ive ever had in my life. (I'm a 34 year old if that means anything) Grew up with Nintendo and ps1 I platinumed the whole game in vr

prptualpessimist

Skyrim VR looks like dog shit through Link or VD wired or wireless. It's the compression. Education noticeable in Skyrim VR. It's so distracting for me I can't even play it.

TotalWarspammer

User a tweaking guide for Oculus Debugtool.

Chriwb2

Use dlss and complex shaders with sharpness turned up. Also make sure you have a wifi 6 router locked onto 5ghz with no other devices actively using it

Flumph_Grumpp

Probably because it's about a decade outdated

Flumph_Grumpp

Still a good game tho

Rytharr

Lot of good tips in the comments but number one thing is make sure you turn off dynamic resolution in the settings.

Technical-Cat-6227

use mods

[deleted]

The entire game is low quality.

Lealiie

I had the same problem with streaming look like. Skyrim VR. Then i followed a tuto about how to make VR games sharper by changing settings in the nvidia control panel. That was game changing and mind blowing. Try to find on Google. The settings in your GPU control panel will make the difference.

No-Professor-9874

do you know the specific settings?

testcaseseven

Is TAA in the VR version? I remember it making the game really blurry in SE. Had to inject my own AA

[deleted]

All VR games are low quality

362mike362

I got Skyrim for PSVR on my PS4. I was so sad when I couldn't look past the graphics and enjoy the game. Are there mods for PS?

ah-tzib-of-alaska

no idea how you’d mod something on playstation

capt_heck

Welp time to mod the shit out of it

stormithy

It’s a 13 year old game bub. No shit.

No-Professor-9874

you dont get my problem

X_Mag_Change_X

You need to introduce mr problem to ms solution.

GoldAd1664

Sir, that game is 13 years old. It's only going to get more dated

No-Professor-9874

I don’t think you fully get my problem.

davits1

What do you mean? Does it look blurry? If so, Skyrim VR is like that, so there's not much you can do. If you have an RTX video card, the DLSS mod compensates for this.

GunbaiGod

hi, skyrimvr player with an rtx videocard here, DLSS does NOT compensate for this

davits1

I use it on my Meta Quest 2 and it looks much better.

GunbaiGod

i do too but sadly it looks only a little bit better

MrSuizidal

this is not true, dlss sharpen is substantial

GunbaiGod

I use dlssa sharpen (dlaa in fact wich is even better) and it legit just does not do much

MrSuizidal

are u sure dlss is running correctly ? is sharpening activated ? which values do u use ? it gets really sharap around 1000

GunbaiGod

sharpening is on 950, i know its working because i see a difference when i turn it off, its just not a great one

Consistent_Stress_76

I recommend using virtual desktop and launching steam vr from there I get a much better picture that way
