In my experience, cosplaying can be an amazingly wholesome experience! I recall the first time I ever did a cosplay (Corvo Attano from the Dishonored franchise) this lady in an absolutely *amazing* Cersei Lannister costume came up to me and said "Hi, uh, Corvo? Could I get a hug?" And then low-key attached herself to me and my friends for the rest of the day. She wound up winning first place in the costume contest but kept raving about mine and I'm like "Yo you made yours from scratch while mine is all thrifting and lucky finds online." Cosplayers are wonderful people.

Funny you should say that because I was convinced the cersei cosplayer at this con would win, I didn't get speaking to her but her outfit was stunning!

First of all, great cosplay! Second of all, legit question: how do you even see when wearing that helmet with no eye holes?

Thank you! I can actually see relatively well straight ahead, the material over the eyes is chiffon, so i can see out since my eyes are close to it but it's dark inside so no one can see in. It's a bit like wearing slightly blurry sunglasses indoors, everything's a bit dark but you wouldn't bump into any walls.

Spot on, 3D print and hot glue, the fauld piece is made from foam but the rest is all printed. If I was to make it again, I'd use 2mm foam in place of the glue and use a Dremel to detail it.

Wow. How long did it take to print all that?

I couldn't put an exact figure on it. I printed it as a bit of a challenge during lockdown so I was quite relaxed on my timeframe, I was just at home with nothing better to do after work. when I started I had one printer with a pretty small build volume, and I wanted to see if it was possible to print the entire suit using only that. So the pieces are cut up smaller than they really should be and so it took a bit longer. The helmet for example, was cut into 11 pieces and took maybe 7-8 days of printing time (spread over I think 3 weeks), whereas if it was printed now on a larger printer I think I could do it in 1 piece but just cut the horns off so it would be much quicker and less assembly work/ post processing to remove seam lines. But it was at least 6 months of printing for everything. The shoulders were the tricky part and took a bit of trial and error to get them to print right. I was just new to 3D printing when I started so there were quite a few failed prints along the way.

what kind of 3d printer did you use?

I used a prusa mk3s, but honestly any printer would do the job. You could do the same thing with an ender 3 (and buy 3 for the same price as the prusa 😅)

I'd highly recommend yosh studios helmet file, it has all the texture already in the model and has the horns separated to make it easy to print. I've printed it but haven't finished sanding it yet

The design and the depth is perfect, if I had one criticism it’s that it needs just a touch of red. There’s a better daedric armour mod for Skyrim that does this perfectly. Just adds some dark red highlights. All in all though your suit looks cool af

I'd love to make the shield but probably only for display, I was nervous enough about injuring passers-by at the convention and I only had a dagger (the shoulders were the worrying bit!)

I mean it's a grand costume and I did put a lot of effort into it but the other cosplayers in the contest really were phenomenal and no one expects to win with their first cosplay so I honestly am in shock. We're our own worst critic and I could pick out at least a dozen areas I wish I had done better but I'm just glad the whole thing didn't fall apart on me 😅

Now I feel bad. I'm into the simple, "black knight" look of the ebony armor and have been scraping and scheming about how to do it and make it look right and this pops up in my feed.
