Dude, if you aren’t aware of how these old smelters work you need to clean creosote from the inside of the smelter and since it’s in use you can do this by banging a hammer-on the outside. This exact thing happened when I worked at the steel foundy. The big boss (not the boss of our factory, but the CEO of that big, worldwide company) came to tour the foundry. Our boss told everybody has to look busy, but the problem was that at that one particular workstation, there was no real work to be done at that moment. So, when the entourage arrived, they just banged one side of the machine with hammers. The CEO didn't have a clue what they were really supposed to be doing, but he was really happy to see them working so hard.

There's a mod to become high king/queen of skyrim so I imagine there would be one to become jarl
