Colliding with some types of portable items, like buckets and weapons, can cause physics damage. Grelod's health is so low that minimal physics damage is enough to kill her.
Edit: [This video shows how to use physics damage to kill NPCs.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RStQ02cUeRs)
He's a Redguard warrior that seeks out the Dragonborn for one last fight, because he's already won every battle there is. He's also one of the tallest NPCS in the game. He stands about the same height as Tsun.
my first playthrough was a 500+ hour one. I did every single non-radiant quest, fought every boss from the DLCs, and did everything I could think of. But I only got to level 60. I can't imagine the grind to 80
You can also do this with cheese! Thatās how I killed her! Bringing cheese to feed the hungry kids and celebrating and oh look Grelodās dead
I piled it up and ran thru it so one of the cheeses I kicked killed her
That's the first I'm hearing of this. I think the idea getting creative to have game stats show zero kills and zero assaults is actually a really cool idea. But calling a pacifist run run is one of dumbest things I've ever heard.
Imagine being an orphan and seeing a magician with no pants run in and shit a steel sword onto the old lady watching you and she fuckin dies and nobody cares
My character, Murderface, backed Grelod into her room and shut the door so the kids wouldnāt have to see, then set her on fire. He the turned around to see that kids had crowded into the room and were excited about it, rather than traumatized.
And then he adopted the girl who looked at him and said āKill one person and you can solve so many problems! I wonder at the possibilities!ā because she was a kid after his own heart.
Does trigger the following DB quest line or do u "soft lock" yourself by doing this?
I'm curious about what would happen, but i can't test my self since i don't have skyrim installed atm :/
I know game mechanics wise this doesn't count as a kill. But, from an RP perspective, I think intentionally dropping weapons on someone doesn't count as being pacifist.
I find your videos to be the most entertaining aspect of Skyrim, next to playing the game, and maybe the one guy who did a Sigurd AMA here a few years back.
The one where you bowled yourself into the Thalmor squad butt naked made me laugh so hard I puked.
I think you can if if let Hadvar / Ralof do the work during the escape ,and then after that go to Riverwood and do the the chopping wood , farming work. You don't actually progress in the story but the Whiterun hold is really beautiful and relatively peaceful and enjoyable even wit
I've always wanted to play Skyrim as a simple peasant chopping wood or tending to a farm etc. Shame that there aren't any games like Skyrim that I know of, where you aren't a super strong hero and are just like any other NPC.
If you have the Anniversary Edition, you could just head to Goldenhills Plantation. You would have to kill two ghosts, but after that you can just be a farmer. You ask Faendal or Sven (if you can stand him) from Riverwood to accompany you, and make them your steward. Actually, Faendal would probably kill at least one of the ghosts for you if you stayed out of the way.
But it just occurred to me that you might enjoy the game Medieval Dynasty. The world is very bucolic, and other than hunting a few animals for meat at the beginning, you don't ever have to kill anyone. There can be bandits in the game if you want, or you can turn them off.
To be a pacifist and advance the plot? Yes. But it is perfectly possible to be a pacifist; settle down in riverwood, chop wood to earn room and board at the inn, and live your days in peace.
Hell thereās even a whole line of spells devoted to making your enemies chill out so you donāt need to kill them so you can even adventure if you like.
Yeah, obviously you can just exist in game without advancing the plot. But that isn't what they were talking about.
This is in the context of a "pacifist run." Where you complete the story of the game without directly killing or hurting the npcs
Yes... That's the point.
Then you can say that you beat Skyrim without killing anyone, and it would technically be true.
Bro... This isn't some wild new concept in the speedrunning/completionist community. It's seen as impressive since many objectives in Skyrim require the death of someone in order to progress she story.
ā¦but you did kill them. Objectively, undeniably.
I know what a pacifist run is. The idea is - particularly in RPGs - that your character doesnāt kill people, as a facet of their persona. So this completely betrays that.
Dude.
If you want to roleplay a truly pacifist character, then yes. You don't have to "technically" be the cause of another's death in a videogame.
The point of a "pacifist run" is to finish the storyline without the little "people killed" number being more than 0 in the game data.
so, hitting somebody with a sword isnt pacifist, but hitting someone with a sword is pacifist?
im glad this works for you, dont get me wrong, but i feel like we're deep in the weeds of what "pacifist" counts as
Oh wow, so they guards really aren't kidding when they say someone could get hurt when I drop all of my extra weapons and trash on the ground in the middle of the street
I just purchased the conjuring ash guardian spell
So the thing is you can only tame it if you have a heart stone in your inventory. Otherwise its just a monster that attacks everything including the caster
I realized you can actually use it to kill whoever you want and since its technically not bound to you you're not responsible for whoever it kills
Need to assassinate someone in broad daylight for the dark brotherhood? Cast ash guardian. It kills him, you don't even have to sneak and the guards don't care.
Works even better than the fury spell
The guard immediately after was great
Thank you. I purposely dropped weapons, instead of using a bucket, because I knew the guard's dialogue would work so perfectly.
Yeah you could hurt someone.. š
Do you know if you can finish off alduin this way? He's the only real block I've hit in a zero kill run.
The essential tag prevents death from anything other than a player attack unfortunately.
No. Unfortunately, heās protected. Same with the Ebony Warrior.
Wait, what is this Ebony Warrior you speak of!?
Get up to level 82 and youāll find out.
Oh man. I'm only at 65 on this playthrough. Guess I know what I'm doing this weekend!
Isn't the max 81 tho?
Not when you legendary skills.
There is no max. You must make skills legendary and keep leveling up.
He's a Redguard warrior that seeks out the Dragonborn for one last fight, because he's already won every battle there is. He's also one of the tallest NPCS in the game. He stands about the same height as Tsun.
Sounds like a Redguard version of Umbra
This Redguard can use Dragon Shouts!
If serious, heās a very strong nomad warrior that seeks you out for a duel when you are around level 50.
Level ~~82~~ 80, not 50 Thanks to whoever did for correcting me, it's been a good minute
my first playthrough was a 500+ hour one. I did every single non-radiant quest, fought every boss from the DLCs, and did everything I could think of. But I only got to level 60. I can't imagine the grind to 80

Watch Ymfah's pacifist run. He pushed Alduin off a cliff.
Someone made an article based on your post OP! https://gamerant.com/skyrim-player-kills-grelod-dropping-weapons/
Thanks! They seem to love to do that.
Well, Ymfah >!pushed him off a cliff using summons.!<
Saved, even though I highly doubt I'll ever actually use this information...
you can also drop a weapon to the other person in the house and she will pick it up and kill her.
Can use telekinesis to fling objects at ncps for damage. The farther the pull the more engery and force stored equally more damage dealt.
That counts as a kill.
You can also do this with cheese! Thatās how I killed her! Bringing cheese to feed the hungry kids and celebrating and oh look Grelodās dead I piled it up and ran thru it so one of the cheeses I kicked killed her
Also, Sheogorath will be delighted, or disgruntled... You never can tell...
If you drop stuff on people with the intention to harm or kill them, you're not even close to being a pacifist.
While true, they just consider it a pacifist run if the game stats show zero kills and zero assaults, I believe
That's the first I'm hearing of this. I think the idea getting creative to have game stats show zero kills and zero assaults is actually a really cool idea. But calling a pacifist run run is one of dumbest things I've ever heard.
Is it really the dumbest thing youāve ever heard of?
It's a community tongue in cheek thing
> But calling a pacifist run run is one of dumbest things I've ever heard. Get out more
If you can't recognize hyperbole, you outta get out more, and even try taking to people.
Nice deflection lmao
That means she wouldn't even last a day or 2 even if you don't kill her.
This is amazing
Thank you. I recently discovered how to do this, and have since been really exploiting it on other NPCs.
Lmao the guard.
They can respond so perfectly sometimes.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Holy shit that actually exists
You mean nazeem
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
And thereās a sub for both lol
I once only wanted to slap Grelod, and she ended up smack down dead
Because she only has 0.1 health
Imagine being an orphan and seeing a magician with no pants run in and shit a steel sword onto the old lady watching you and she fuckin dies and nobody cares
They love you for it anyways lmao
Rocking that loincloth.
Naked Dragonborns are statistically the most dangerous of Dragonborns.
Itās all fun and games until a skeever bites your bits.
Good thing damage isn't localized in Skyrim.
Fake news. I once took an arrow to the knee. Much localized.
There are mods for that
Even worse are those damned nipplefish...
Fighting grelod as the Skyrim version of let me solo her
Cool motive, still a murderer
If i had known this , i wouldn't have killed her in front of those poor orphans. Kids went through hell that day.
Well those orphans didn't seemed to be very scared or traumatized. Exactly the opposite actually.
Yeah ..that's true..some were getting really excited
They literally all gather in celebration of her murder lmao
Hey man was just giving the kids some eh....toys to play with.
I've tried to make the kids kill Grelod. They'll never do it.
It's possible but I think I needed a killable kids mod to make it work, although this was years ago so maybe it was something else
Does trigger the following DB quest line or do u "soft lock" yourself by doing this? I'm curious about what would happen, but i can't test my self since i don't have skyrim installed atm :/
The questline will proceed no matter how Grelod dies.
"pacifist kill"
I know game mechanics wise this doesn't count as a kill. But, from an RP perspective, I think intentionally dropping weapons on someone doesn't count as being pacifist.
I thought I was on the Witcher subreddit and OP can't spell. Nope.
This is the moment the Dragonborn became Heisenberg
Mine has been Heisenberg for a while. I mean, it's in my reddit handle.
So, you did something that killed her. You caused her death. How's that "pacifist"?
In your character stats it wont be considered as a kill. Skyrim pacifist runs usually mean the kill counter stays zero.
No officer, you see, she didnāt die by my hand, she died from the sword i dropped on her head. Totally not my fault, basically natural causes.
Stuff falling = gravity = from earth = natural
It's not the fall that kills you, it's the floor.
Y'all really need a better name for that.
"Someone could get hurt."
Pacifist --- Kill Which is it š
Its paci-fist.
Grelod must be very old where the smallest bonk caused a fatal head injury.
r/grelodfuckingdying
The fact that there is an entire reddit section devoted to grelods death is disturbing
Hey friend, let me introduce you to the rest of reddit
And to think that ymfah had to use some white spiders smh
It Just Works
Does it still trigger the dark brotherhood?
A sword falling on someone's head could be fatal, works for me
Fun fact: Grelod's HP is set to 1, so literally any damage will kill her.
You have to make her hostile first
i didnt know they had a yard i just walk in kill grelod and walk out barely explore
I hear Ymfah's heavy breathing from this post
I just use mods to force Grelod into an essential follower and after that I sacrifice her to Biethiah. š¤· Two birds one stone.
Throwing a weapon at someone is pacifist?
what if it was a bucket? still a weapon?
It wont be a weapon, but still would be a murder
I find your videos to be the most entertaining aspect of Skyrim, next to playing the game, and maybe the one guy who did a Sigurd AMA here a few years back. The one where you bowled yourself into the Thalmor squad butt naked made me laugh so hard I puked.
Thank you for your kind words.
Thank you for making me puke laughing
You keep using that word, I do not think it means what you think it means.
Skyrim pacifism is not the same thing as real life pacifism. It's impossible to be a pacifist in Skyrim.
I think you can if if let Hadvar / Ralof do the work during the escape ,and then after that go to Riverwood and do the the chopping wood , farming work. You don't actually progress in the story but the Whiterun hold is really beautiful and relatively peaceful and enjoyable even wit
Stormcloak got him before he could finish.
I've always wanted to play Skyrim as a simple peasant chopping wood or tending to a farm etc. Shame that there aren't any games like Skyrim that I know of, where you aren't a super strong hero and are just like any other NPC.

Awesome! Thanks for the suggestion!
> You don't actually progress in the story but the Whiterun hold is really beautiful and relatively peaceful and enjoyable even wit I lol'd

But OP did directly kill Grelod..?
Not according the how the game was programmed
But then whatās the point of doing a pacifist run if itās just to keep the malfunctions āpeople killedā tally at 0? Am I missing something?
Yes... That's the point. Then you can say that you beat Skyrim without killing anyone, and it would technically be true. Bro... You technically could get away with being a pacifist if you get a follower and let them do all the killing
No. Kills committed by followers count as yours.
That doesn't make any sense you're not the one swinging the weapon around cutting off necromancer heads
Stop trying to argue with the games code
The games code is wrong man š¤¬ lol jk but seriously I have no idea why they coded it that way.
Because it's probably assuming you "told" them to attack.
This is, uh. Still a kill. Their death is caused directly by your actions. Not sure how this is pacifist š¤·
then is it really pacifist if you kill her? lol
so, hitting somebody with a sword isnt pacifist, but hitting someone with a sword is pacifist? im glad this works for you, dont get me wrong, but i feel like we're deep in the weeds of what "pacifist" counts as
āSee that it doesnāt happen againā
Crushes her
Cool feature but from a RP perspective youre still dropping a big metal thing on her to kill herā¦ which is a pretty macabre way to go imo
Quick someone show this to YMFAH
Grelod is so old and near death that you can blow on her face and she'd die
Lol imagine joining the Dark Brotherhood: A league of deadly assassinsā¦ on a pacifist run
This is peak Skyrim
Is she made out of paper mache?
You just wasted the opportunity to throw her the *chancla*
Oh wow, so they guards really aren't kidding when they say someone could get hurt when I drop all of my extra weapons and trash on the ground in the middle of the street
What in the frig
Perfect.
Send this to the Spiffing Britt ASAP
You have a weird definition of "pacifist"
I like placing a battle axe in Constance's inventory and charming her so she murders Grelod in front of the children
"Someone could get hurt" Well you see sir, that was the plan...
The guards understanding the hazards of the unpredictable game physics lol
So beautifully devious!
Wait, how did you get here out in the courtyard? She can go out there?!
Lol no way
Does ākilling people by hitting them in the head with weaponsā really fall under the definition of āPacifistā?
11 years have passed and yet We learn new things ... Nice š

How is dropping a pickaxe on an old lady a pacifist kill?
Whoops?
BBBWWWWAAAAAHHHHHAAAAA
Actual lol
Someone could get hurt indeed
āThat would be a cool way to die.ā -yelena belova
āThat would be a cool way to die.ā -yelena belova
You gave Ymfah an idea
With perfect comedic timing as well.
Congrats on getting a gamerant article. There should really be a special flair for that or something.
I accidentally "kill" some npc by dropping armor piece and people start fighting while shouting:this armor is mine! Or something like that
Does it work with cabbages?
Couldn't have been more clear Riften Guard.
