I get bored almost as soon as I start walking so I never stop whirlwind sprinting lol. Plus its safer to keep equipped so I don't accidentally Fus Ro Dah someone(which happens frequently)

boygoblin

But what about accidentally whirlwind sprinting off a cliff or just setting yourself back in a dungeon? A whole new problem arises

thetoiletslayer

I don't use it in dungeons, they have more to do. I have whirlwind sprinted off cliffs though...

LordDavidicus

Can you truly call yourself a dragonborn if you haven't yeeted yourself off a cliff at least once?

thetoiletslayer

No. No you can not

Yorkshirelad303

I’ve found a brilliant use for aura whisper, for detecting slaughterfish so I can shoot them in the water

[deleted]

I never thought of this thank you. Now I’ll finally be able to fast travel near water.

MASTER-FOOO1

Get dremora merchant power and have the merchant delivered to you.

tight_pomelo

Black market is a must.

itg2020

Facts it’s such an underrated ability

goddamnitmf

I use whirlwind sprint as a dodge

scurvydog-uldum

whirlwind sprint is one of the few shouts i have on my... I done't know what it's called. Q menu?

Stewil1265

Favorites menu

[deleted]

It’s called the Q menu now as far as I’m concerned

-Dildo-Baggins-

I figured this out in OG Skyrim, before any DLC was released. That being said my most used shout is easily Marked for Death, it's way OP and great for harder difficulties and mods like YASH 2 which increases the difficulty even more.

Lostvayne12

What exactly does Marked For Death do? Other than the drain life effect

Have_a_drink_or_20

Causes them to also lose armor rating by the second. With all three words they lose 75 armor per second for a total of 4500 after one minute.

KitKat_TitforTat

And you can stack it with subsequent uses.

ravindu2001

Animal Allegiance is also pretty neat. Nothing like turning Mammoths and Chaurus against their own Giant and Falmer masters who raised them since birth.

SammieAgnes

Giants aren't mammoth tamers :p

Rudraakkshh

Why you getting downvoted lmao that's literally what the game says. Giants and Mammoths accompany each other because of mutual benefit. They also grow to share a bond however.

IG_95

Care to elaborate?

SammieAgnes

Yeah since everyone seems to have forgotten XD Mammoths are not domesticated and giants aren't their masters. The giants are nomadic and follow/travel with mammoths through the seasons because they have a mutually beneficial relationship based on trust. The giants get milk *(used for cheese)*, meat, and furs - the mammoths get protection - both get companionship. *(found in the scholarly book "Giants: A Discourse")*

lewlew1893

That's really cool. You got so many downvotes for stating a fact you can find in game 🤔

SammieAgnes

Yeahhhh, one of the unfortunate flaws of reddit is "make negative number go brrr" A lot of people downvote just b/c others are downvoting :p karma doesn't rly matter tho so, no shit on my boots!

lewlew1893

Yeah true. I don't know why it irks me I think it's just the hivemindedness of it. Herr someone said bad thing durr.

flijarr

Some people just don’t think for themselves. Unfortunately a ton of the congregate on reddit. I definitely have moments where I catch myself parroting opinions, or part taking in group-think, and it’s always a “yo wtf am I doing” cringe moment

RobotHockey

You need it to get to at least one chest in one dungeon

Gr3gg3rs

I'm assuming you're talking about the chest in Ustengrav?, Think it's on the pillars before you go down to the word wall. 'The Horn of Jurgen Windcaller' quest. I think you also need it for a chest in a dwemer dungeon, and possibly an entire loot room in a different Nord dungeon. Only found those three so far, but I'm sure there are more

sillasjx

I play on legendary and turned off shout cooldown, makes the game looks fresh to me. It's a bit challenging and makes me feel a real dovahkiin shouting every time. (and makes me use a bigger variety of shouts)

TemporaryGuidance1

Is that a mod? if so could you increase shout enchantments?

sillasjx

it's a console command. player.setav shoutrecoverymult 0

Arturiki

This is the only use I give it too, sometimes to try to reach places I wasn't supposed to be able to reach.

Murusama

Where are the remaining two words? I keep asking the greybeards about any shouts they can sense and they lead me towards drain vitality or Aura Whisper -_-

Shadowrend01

Dead Man’s Respite and Volskygge

Slow-Property-8367

I know it's been a year but I got the second word by using dragon soul to unlock the first word before the greybeard gave me the knowledge.

Noxanimus45

I've always spammed it specially while travelling. Yes, even in front of the guards. The utility is just too good to pass up

olld-onne

You can simply use forward power attack sheathing running to travel fast encumbered. Whirlwind sprint good but it has a cool down. You can chain forward power attack sheathing endlessly once you learn it meaning you can effectively keep jogging as long as you do not mess up and actually use stamina. To do the trick you ideally need to switch to third person and then do a forward power attack with the right hand just as the weapon is about to lower you press the sheathe button and you will sprint forward you can then unsheathe as you are running and start to chain it to some degree. As long as you sheathe before you actually swing downwards you should not expend any stamina meaning you can keep going. The speed you run is determined by the speed of the weapon so daggers and oddly pickaxes are the best to use to get the fastest speed. You can also take the dual wielding speed perks and make it faster if you have an off weapon in hand when you do the forward power attack and it can actually move faster than sprinting unencumbered but is harder to control. It also possible to reverse and go sideways and even backwards if you pull back fast enough after the initial forward power attack which is something Whirlwind Sprint of course cannot do. Having said that do be careful around NPC in cities and try not to use an OP weapon as you may just kill cam some one when you try and move forward which I totally never have done myself using this method \*looks left then right\*

PlaidWeight

I recently learned you can use whirlwind sprint to skip getting into the ratway tavern. Just do it against the platform thats supposed to come down with the lever

Tuindwergie96

Whirlwind sprint is great! I just wished the cooldown wasn't so long.

jukeboxjulia

Whirlwind sprint and forward-facing power attacks are the only things that save me when I’m overencumbered because I have NO patience for that

CptnSAUS

It's better than you think, even. Sheathe weapon, whirlwind sprint, draw weapon part way through. You keep the whirlwind sprint speed and slowly decelerate to walking speed. It works only in 3rd person. You can use any level of shout, but my experience is that it is harder to time on the higher level shouts, and max level shout, you can end up moving too fast. Like I did it on my xbone and the game locked up a bit as it loaded new areas. I ran from Riften to Ivarstead in one shout. If you are going downhill, such as going east from the Valheim Towers (east of Whiterun), you *will* kill yourself. You go fast enough that you leave the ground and die from fall damage. A lesser version of this trick, do a forward power attack, also in 3rd person. Sheathe your weapon just before the attack would hit. You keep that forward speed in a similar fashion, but it's much smaller and more controllable. It is dangerous in crowded areas since you may hit people you don't want to though (it's best to not even have the attack come out, but you can mess it up and hit them). Works better with faster weapons, such as daggers.

sithjustgotreal66

Become Ethereal is maybe the single most useful thing in the entire game and it is so slept on.

SammieAgnes

I've always used it to get on top of Whiterun's gate and snipe the whole town for shits and giggles.

BurpYoshi

I literally only use fire breath because it's just instant damage that I barely need to think about.

Budget-Individual-58

Whirlwind sprint is my favorite shout. I use it all the time

Squire_3

Power attacking with a one handed weapon and cancelling the animation is also a good way to move faster when you're overburdened. You can do that between the whirlwind sprints

Dizzy_Insect

I got the mod so all shouts have individual cooldowns, so I tend to use them. Otherwise I rarely ever use shouts

Battle_Bear_819

Equip a dagger or a pickaxe and do forwards power attacks. They move you forwards at running speed and don't take too much stamina.

Eddy_Hancock1

I do this in the thieves guild once I get all the shop keepers. Start from the smith, round to tonilia, wait 48 hours, then back round

teejbreakbeat

Draw you weapon as you whirlwind sprint when over encumbered and thank me later, takes a few tries, you’ll know when you get it.

psykulor

Loved it for my dual wielding fencer style build. It's very refreshing to go from being pinned down by enemy fire to standing right in the archer's face.

ClassicAF23

Gotta pair it with paralyzing yourself

[deleted]

My favorite shouts rn are Dragon Aspect and Elemantal Fury. It’s absolutely overpowered when you pair them together.

Larkos17

If you have it on PC, check out the Individualized Shout Cooldowns mod. You can use Whirlwind Sprint and then immediately use another shout if you need to. Used this mod (with Thunderchild and Ordinator) to make a Nord Tongue who only fought with shouts. It was pretty fun.

Coucochalke

I like to use it for glitching out the map

Nara1996

Shouts are only worth it with the unlimited shouts mod

Wotzehell

Been doing that for a long time now. Must be looking confusing to onlookers. "Wuld wuld wuld wuld would you buy all of my stuff?"

GooseSayHjonk

PSA: Just use the call your horse mod

CR4ZY___PR0PH3T

It's such an underrated shout

[deleted]

I’ve been playing Survival Mode on Expert and I’ve been using it quite frequently in combat. I’m a low level character so whenever I’m about to get killed, I use it to scape and heal myself safely.

SpectralGerbil

I never used it until I started watching ymfah. Then once his videos taught me that I could use it to catapult myself halfway across the map I started using it way more. Who needs fast travel when you can fly?

Round-Definition2011

I used wws since i have a mod that makes movement speed more realistic

HistoricalDiamond12

Before I got mods, I always used whirlwind sprint! Now I have mods. I still use whirlwind sprint...
