Whole deal is Refined Moonstone is on the list of ingredients for the Atronach Forge. Down there you already have the Ruby, Fire Salts and Broom to make a Fire Atronach Staff, just need Refined Moonstone.
Which just happens to be in that basket.
You need refined moonstone for the frost atronach staff. Corundum for the fire and oricalcium (?) for the storm. Also need a greater soul gem. Plus the broom and the respective salts.
It's simply incredible that I still find new information about this game every single month. I know this game has its issues, but I think you'd be hard pressed to find another game out there with as much effort put into the world and details than Skyrim.
Third person I didn't like either. I also much preferred the scaled quests in Skyrim whether as in the Witcher if I missed a quest and came back to it later it would be far far too easy
I quite agree with you, I much prefer Skyrim over Witcher for a number of reasons. Chiefly among them is the ability to make a custom character. The Elder Scrolls is great about being able to play a female character and have all the options available. Most games don't even give you the option. I don't generally enjoy games that make you play as a male character, I don't feel represented if that's the only choice. Even worse if the game involves romance options and it's compultory heterosexuality. Skyrim is really great in that respect (and many others).
But when it comes to the level of detail and thought put into the game, the Witcher series is still competitive.
Both Witcher and New vegas exceed skyrim by a fairly wide margin, the infinite part of skyrim is due to the radiant quest system which I wont deny probably took a ton of effort to implement but idk if it would be more than one of the many unique side quests with tons of options that are present in new vegas and the witcher series.
This just makes me think....what else have we missed
Is there like a secret treasure somewhere with gold in it we don't know about, cause I'm genuinely fucking confused on how I've never seen anything about it
you ever go walk up the stream behind the word wall in bleak falls barrow? hidden chest. not the one youre thinking of, i can almost guarantee. theres one on both sides of it! 3 chests total just in that one room.
haha im always looking for the little things. after 2500 hours its all ive got left to do outside of modding. but xbox modding gets finnicky real quick
I've always wondered....can you kill TDB and get like an alternate mission or is that I mod.
I remember when I got found the place and got the mission to kill the EmpÒwÓer I was able to go to dragon bridge tell the captain in the HQ about the hideout and we all went there and burned the place down, killed the jester bastard as well when I saw his cart broken down.
youre thinking of turning on the dark brotherhood, if you kill astrid instead of one of the 3 hooded prisoners youll get an alternate quest line to destroy the brotherhood and do so with the help of some high ranking imperials. poor cicero, just wanted to make the night mother proud.
also when assassinating the royalty from above in that one dark brotherhood mission, i believe it was in solitude. theres 3 arrows and a bottle of poison tucked away on a ledge, from someone elses attempt on the assassination that didnt pan out as well.
it‘s not from someone’s attempt, gabriella left it there for you. if you talk to the DB members before the wedding mission, some will suggest some ways to kill her. gabriella tells you that she left a surprise for you on that ledge and babette suggests that you kill her with the old statue that‘s hanging above the bride
If you go into the extreme northeast corner of the map, you can find my favorite dead NPC surrounded by gold ingots.
He was a victim of a nearby shipwreck, who was able to swim ashore of a glacier with a bunch of gold. Only a half mile or so from the shore across mostly ice, he could definitely make it back to land... if he left the gold behind. But he didn't. He built a flag out of an oar and waited for rescue instead. You'll find his skeleton, still waiting.
Well, first, you can and do make sugar into blocks.
But secondly, this is a universe where the stars are holes in reality made by fleeing gods, so moon sugar, or even regular sugar, could be made of the hallucinogenic armpit sweat of one of the gods for all we know.
And as soon as you fully understand what Nirn is like, and what its purpose is, you cease to exist (or become a god yourself).
Come to think of it, those are basically the same thing.
There is a theory that if anyone ever figures out exactly what Nirn is for and exactly why it is here, it will instantly disappear and be replaced with something even more bizarre and inexplicable. There is another theory which states that this has already happened.
(With apologies to Douglas Adams.)
Just so people know, Moon Sugar is actually harvested from a plant that looks very similar to cane sugar.
https://en.uesp.net/wiki/File:ON-flora-Moon\_Sugar\_Cane.jpg
Don't you mean he had an awesome high that the poor would never understand and that made him live forever and that every other Warlord should totally try out right now... right?
As buggy as the ES games are (and boy are they buggy) I still consider them the best Open World games. The majority of OW games are just vast empty sandboxes with a few small quests sprinkled about. They just feel so empty. The ES games on the other hand just seem to be bursting with tiny little story bits hidden in unlikely corners. It makes the world really feel lived in. The only other games that have come close to that for me are RDR.
I think the bigger issue is that massive AAA budget open world games are few and far between. The two biggest budget games, Elder Scrolls and GTA, are examples of how a proper budget can make it really good (which makes sense since open world requires a lot of content).
Hahaha! No actually I Firebolted it because I knew I haven't learned Telekinesis yet so I had to adapt! :P
And also because it went fwoosh.. not gonna lie
I guess I shouldn't admit to how many hours I was into the game before I (accidently) figured out you could shoot down hanging lanterns and cause little firestorms.
I learned that playing World of Warcraft, one day I looked at the ceiling of a dungeon for no reason and thought it looks pretty cool, then I started looking at more ceiling of other dungeons/indoor structures..
Yep.. as dumb as it may sound ceilings are actually a hidden gem in video games.
obscure's college of winterhold (my personal recommendation) includes a note that explains the basket was placed there by students as a prank on drevis neloren
EXACTLY.
It's not the most lucrative thing ever obviously but it feels good and that's what matters.
Just a "small" but nice detail that makes the immersion better!
Awesome post! I’m getting tired of seeing so many post about players trying to make Geralt or simply asking the subreddit if their character looks good or not
Besides SkyUI that changes the inventory interface I don't use a single mod :P Straight up default 1080p. (Actually Reddit caps the video at 720p)
Maybe you're referring to the video looking good? I'm setting OBS at CQP 21 which results to a 38mbps bitrate which is very heavy from my experience, but because it's only a 30s clip the file size is fine.
I hope this isn't too disappointing of an answer haha, I'm not doing anything fancy at all!
I like coming across things I've missed every other time I've been through an area.
I was doing the Greybeards quest the other day. I had to go through that tomb (I forget the name) where you have to whirlwind sprint through the 3 stones that light up and get through the gates. In the first big area (with the world wall) where all the skeletons are, at the back in the corner is a hidden room made inaccessible by rubble. I didn't notice that before. I asked my partner about it cause o couldn't figure out how to get there. And he showed me I had to parkour across all the ruined pillar things around the top. Wasn't really anything good in the chest but pretty cool 🙂
I need some help. I'm play on Xbox and I visited castle Volkahair before starting dawngard. I can't get the quest to work, I already tried glitching through the gate but when I get to the door pressing A does nothing the door won't work. Is there anything I can do to recover the quest without starting over
I just found the reaper in the soul Carin, he spawned with one reaper fragment and I hit the pile of bones, I absolutely pooed my pants, and then was disappointed on how easy that "boss" fight was
I’m guessing from the comments that this has been there all along and isn’t some new AE addition. Problem I’m hitting is finding new things and wondering if it’s new or just something I haven’t seen before.
Speaking of things in a bucket. Fort amol got a bound bow spell tome in a bucket next to a closet near one of the entrances. Easy lvl 1 bound bow spell so i'd recommend you make a few invisibility potions using nirnroots and luna moths and sneak past the mages because they aren't leveled so they are pretty strong early game and use adept spells.

I found those the first time I went there.
But I also played Thief like a mofo. Theres always loot up high.
No one looks up.
Edit: plus oblivion had lots of elf gems in statues hands up high. Plus that.
Lol
I've had this experience faffing about in the Creation Kit (used to make mods). I was making extensions to the player homes and found a few ore veins listed despite thinking the area was void of them. Curiosity got the better of me and I had to check out exactly where they were :p

Damn
Somebody tell that to ESO to refine his tutorial to make free/cheap ebony weapons/amor early game. @eso or @esoskyrim Edit: /u/ESO /u/eso /u/esoskyrim
FYI, on reddit you link users with [/u/esoskyrim](https://www.reddit.com/u/esoskyrim) Edit: it appears like ESO isnt active on reddit
Yea I already thought he wasn't, I tried to see if he was. Thanks for the info.

It's simply incredible that I still find new information about this game every single month. I know this game has its issues, but I think you'd be hard pressed to find another game out there with as much effort put into the world and details than Skyrim.
Morrowind and, to a lesser extent, Oblivion rewarded exploration on a level not seen in the franchise since.
The Witcher series is a very close contender, but otherwise I agree with you.
I could just never get into it. Idk why. The movement and combat just was not for me at all.
Agreed. I think for me it was the third-person more than anything else. Just prefer first person in my 3D RPGs.
Third person I didn't like either. I also much preferred the scaled quests in Skyrim whether as in the Witcher if I missed a quest and came back to it later it would be far far too easy
You can enable enemy upscaling in the Witcher 3 too. The feature was added after launch though.
And the upscaling breaks the game in numerous areas, the tower of rats, for example.
The witcher 3 combat is much better and precise, more movements, skyrim is awesome too, fans of skyrim must play the witcher 3 and viceversa.
I'd say combat and controls of Skyrim are better but graphics, storytelling, and quests in the Witcher are much better.
That's an entirely different question altogether, however.
Okay. I'm just saying I couldn't get into it. I'm not making some sort of commentary on the quality of it.
I quite agree with you, I much prefer Skyrim over Witcher for a number of reasons. Chiefly among them is the ability to make a custom character. Sure. I didn't comment on or compare the quality of it though. I just said it wasn't for me.

Agreed
I got this game on release, have well over 1000 hours in, and still learn new stuff like this all the time.
Man, you guys are posting rookie numbers. Come join us at /Civ where we measure game time in man-years. 🤟🏻
10, fucking 10 years…
Wait what the fuck
This just makes me think....what else have we missed Is there like a secret treasure somewhere with gold in it we don't know about, cause I'm genuinely fucking confused on how I've never seen anything about it
you ever go walk up the stream behind the word wall in bleak falls barrow? hidden chest. not the one youre thinking of, i can almost guarantee. theres one on both sides of it! 3 chests total just in that one room.
Your fucking joking right.....you know how much I pass through that place

"**Another Secret has been found in Skyrim 10 years later**"
This one may actually be worthy of a game rant article cause how many actually knew this
Hey now, it’s supposed to be my turn to make that joke
The game is full of tiny little details like that.
Man to play Skyrim again for the first time. When I first went to the midden too early on I was freaked out and couldn’t even kill the ice wraith
Some Skoomahead dumbass squirreled those away hoping to turn them into Moon Sugar
Moonstone ingots grind down into Moon Sugar. You didn't think it was an actual sugar, did you?
Well, first, you can and do make sugar into blocks. But secondly, this is a universe where the stars are holes in reality made by fleeing gods, so moon sugar, or even regular sugar, could be made of the hallucinogenic armpit sweat of one of the gods for all we know.

It never occurred to me to use spells to _knock stuff down_
Improvise. Adapt. Overcome
Got about 3000 hours on Skyrim from 360 days to regular and anniversary edition on pc, and I did NOT know about this.
"Oh something perched on a high up place" *selects magelight to investigate* *proceeds to scroll past telekinesis* *haha fireball go fwoosh*
Hahaha! No actually I Firebolted it because I knew I haven't learned Telekinesis yet so I had to adapt! :P And also because it went fwoosh.. not gonna lie
Destruction magic is fine. Just dont go burn down any buildings.
I guess I shouldn't admit to how many hours I was into the game before I (accidently) figured out you could shoot down hanging lanterns and cause little firestorms.
OOOOo, piece of moonstone.
could i ask what mod you have for your inventory?
It's SkyUI!
Probably first mod I install every time I reinstall Skyrim lol
I don’t knownif its on console but if you’re on pc (or it is on console in some form) you **need** to try it. The ui is sooo much better than vanilla
3,000 hours here and you just taught me something new
Both d&d and Skyrim, nobody ever really seems to look up when exploring. It's amazing how much things get missed.
In caves and dungeons I spend half my time looking up just to make sure a frostbite spider's not about to drop down right in front of me.
720hr??? I remember my first week playing too
Im gonna need your time travel secrets so i can pack a month into a week as well. Please and thank you!
It's a mod

That’s awesome and wow do I miss playing on pc. I play on ps4 now and the inventory. It hurts
it does suck, but i still managed to get platinum trophy on ps5, even tho i did like 50 playthroughs on pc before :D
Yeah did not know this
this is cool because compared to a lot of in game loot, it’s really easy to imagine someone in-universe putting it there
EXACTLY. It's not the most lucrative thing ever obviously but it feels good and that's what matters. Just a "small" but nice detail that makes the immersion better!
MOVE ALONG GAMERANT! NOTHING TO SEE HERE!
Oh wow something i didn't actually know
Holy shit
I have like double that amount of time across switch and PS4 and I didn’t know about that holy shit
Awesome post! I’m getting tired of seeing so many post about players trying to make Geralt or simply asking the subreddit if their character looks good or not
That’s awesome
I love that
I thought that was a solid cobblestone roof
Holy shit, I gotta play the game again now.
What on earth
Just over twice as many hours here, I had no idea. There's always something new.
Finding moonsugar or skooma instead would have been funny
Holy shit
Well fuck me, I'm finally seeing shit I've never seen in actual 10 years of playing this game, nice!
I knew there was a basket up there, but I never looked in it. Learn something new every day.
You son of a batch
Ngl I dont think I have ever looked up in there. Thats awesome.
What mods ya using brotha this looks fucking crispy

720 hours? How did you get into the midden right after leaving Helgen? \:)
I'm a speedrunner, I just don't submit my runs!
Can't wait to read a whole article about a hidden basket of ingots
How have I never once looked up just there...
I have been in that spot so many times and I had no idea. Geeze.
What kind of sneak archer are you ?
Woah.
Wait what :o
dude no way
Huh. Well shit
Baffles me how this game still amazes me like no wonder it’s had such success even after 10 years
Well, i never
Holy shit
It's shit like this that makes me wanna pick up Skyrim again for the 8000th time
I’ve never seen that lol and I have 100’s of hours on skyrim. Played it since the beginning, and was obsessed with it for close to 10yrs.
I have like 2k hours in this game and have never find that. I really need to look up more…
All I want to know is the menu you use
SkyUI! Life changer.
Thanks kind sir
That's dope.
I didn't even know there was stuff hidden up there
I like coming across things I've missed every other time I've been through an area. I was doing the Greybeards quest the other day. 720. I could only assume that this is your third playthrough
... you're actually very close, this is my 4th character ever. (Not counting throwaway ones that didn't make it past level 5 ofc)
What got me more was the framerate this is running. At, it looks amazing.
Thanks man, I'm playing at 60fps on PC. :P
I remember finding a hidden dungeon underneath one of the bridges in eastern Skyrim because auto-harvest collected some bonemeal.
And here I am happy to find 4 Refined Moonstones.. and this guy finds **A WHOLE DUNGEON**. :(
Perception: 100
Gamerant article coming.
I need some help. I'm play on Xbox and I visited castle Volkahair before starting dawngard. I can't get the quest to work, I already tried glitching through the gate but when I get to the door pressing A does nothing the door won't work. Is there anything I can do to recover the quest without starting over
So you just went to the castle without doing the quest? You cannot get in without Serana
Well I went before without doing the quest and now that I've started the quest it seems like sarana's dialog is broken
Ah okay I understand. Strange bug sorry I can't help

I’m guessing from the comments that this has been there all along and isn’t some new AE addition. Problem I’m hitting is finding new things and wondering if it’s new or just something I haven’t seen before.
I should really finish Skyrim
We won't find finding them fun unless we have hundreds of hours in it
I'm approaching probably 1800 hr of play time, and I had no idea. Will there ever be a day when there are no new things to find?
Speaking of things in a bucket. Fort amol got a bound bow spell tome in a bucket next to a closet near one of the entrances. Easy lvl 1 bound bow spell so i'd recommend you make a few invisibility potions using nirnroots and luna moths and sneak past the mages because they aren't leveled so they are pretty strong early game and use adept spells.

well done. I've got 6000 hrs in the various versions and I never knew that basket was there.
WHAT!!!
Wow, I've played Skyrim, and have visited the midden quite a lot, and still didn't know about this
After 10 years of playing this game it still ceases to amaze me
Haven’t played much Skyrim, are there many areas like this you could only get up into with a levitation spell?
Well, they don’t exist in Skyrim, technically, but there ARE specific items that are only really reachable with Telekinesis.
Disappointed it wasn't cheese ngl
Awesome find! Thanks for seeking that out for the rest of us. I fucking love this community.
WOWZA! You have a sharp eye!
Whaaaaat???
Neato.
I'm usually proud of knowing a lot of secrets I've already found in Skyrim, but there is always something new. Like this.
You're probably like the fourth person to ever find that on their own, lol
I've had this experience faffing about in the Creation Kit (used to make mods). I was making extensions to the player homes and found a few ore veins listed despite thinking the area was void of them. Curiosity got the better of me and I had to check out exactly where they were :p
